Copy protection for either the pdf slideshow or web flash

From what I can tell so far there is'nt any way to secure the pdf security
from within lightroom nor enable some kind of security in web flash that wont allow printing of images. Does anyone know if there is a way to secure these so my images are'nt stolen off of the web from my galleries?

As previously said, if you can view the images you can "steal" them or print them.
There are apps that you can download to remove the protection on pdf's.
(I even know of a way using "Save as" in one of the apps that come installed on the Mac's ;-)
The best you can do is to watermark your images and be restrictive with the viewing size.
Or to password protect the whole web gallery against viewing and only give out passwords to trusted people.

Is the PDF slideshow in PSE 7 like the one in PSE 3 ?

I have PSE 3 and convert photos from vacations and trips to the "Simple PDF Slideshow" in PSE 3. When PSE 4 came out it seemed it no longer supported the PDF Slideshow so I stayed with PSE 3. Recently I noticed that PSE 7 has the PDF slideshow option. Is it the same (or very similar) to the one I enjoy in PSE 3? If so I may finally choose to install PSE 7. Please correct me if I am wrong, but I think I can install PSE 7 and still keep PSE 3 until I decide which I like better. Also, I notice that an OEM version is available for $33. Is there anything illegal about purchasing an OEM version? Are there any drawbacks? Of course I will still need to purchase Barbara Brundage's book. Her book on PSE 3 has saved me many hours of trial and error.

I didn't get any replies to my post so I'll have to reply to myself :-).
I purchased PSE 8 after deciding that the OEM versions for sale were too good to be true. I don't know about the legality, but further reading about OEM software for sale seems to indicate that it resembles piracy, in a way. So I put down my dollars for PSE 8 in a box. I ordered B. Brundage's book but it hasn't arrived yet. I'm sure many of my questions will be answered when I can read her book.
But about the PDF slideshows in PSE 3 and PSE 8, I can safely say they are NOT the same. Though on the screen both versions appear the same, if you save a particular slide to the clipboard and then to a file, the PSE 3 version is the full original size photo. If you want, you can print it. The PSE 8 version slide is maximum 1600 X 1200. Does it matter? Perhaps not. If I burn the PDF slideshow to a disk I know I can always extract a photo from the PSE 3 version. So I don't have to put the photos separately on the disk as well. Whether that's important to anyone but me is questionable, but it does answer the question whether the two slideshow programs are the same.
I have some other observations about having both versions of PSE on the computer which will go to a separate topic.

I had the same problem so I decided to try going to website on the back. (DisneyOzMovieandOffers.com). It will take you to a page that says to redeem code, enter the code that is given to you and click enter. It will give you options of where you would like to download it from. Click iTunes and it will give you the correct code to download the movie from iTunes.

Copy Protection for home movies

I have a small video recording business. I taped a ballet recital and will sell the videos to the parents. I would like to know if there is a way that I can copy protect these so they can not make copies of them.

And as Sue has already pointed out, if any of us can easily download the software to rip a commercial DVD to our computers that have millions of industry dollars behind the copy protection techniques on them, what makes you think that your home produced DVDs would be any safer?
Usually the best thing to do is get in the mind set that you are providing a service (capturing a moment in time) and an initial product (that moment presented on a DVD with nice menus and such), but you are not a production house that makes their money off number of units moved. My guess is for something like a ballet recital, the parents are not all going to get together and buy a single copy and then make copies among themselves. Instead they will likely all buy their own copy and any additional copies they make would be sent to grandparents and things like that. And if you somehow made it uncopyable, then likely they would not come back to you to purchase additional copies but either not send a copy to Grandma or just dub a version to video tape.
In other words, I think in these small business situations, the initial buyers are likely to buy anyway and the subsequent copies wanted wouldn't be through you anyway. So you are basically trying to protect against something that isn't going to affect you anyway.
Just my opinion as a parent who has bought DVDs of various kids things from the "pros" who put them together (e.g. cheerleading competitions, etc.) but would never buy additional copies from those same people at the same price (I consider the price I paid to be for the service, not the actual copy).

DRM/Copy Protection for VODcasts?

My client is interested in creating some proprietary, branded instructional films to be sold as VODcasts for download from his site and subsequent loading on to iPods.
This simple question is can the VODcasts be copy protected so they cannot be shared? Obviously, the ability to share them would decrease the sales potential.
I don't have a clue. My instincts say there probably is not any way to protect them...for now.

ok, depending on how you will deliver the muxed VOD file, is what type of protection the file will have.
for example, the tradional *.ts VOD files cannot have DRM, but can have metadata tags.
*wm or *.avi can have DRM, but that is more for web, in windows.
since you are asking in an apple forum, and plan to upload to iPods, then the you can only add metadata tags, not DRM, unless you want to watermark your video (which i doubt).
if you want to load iPods, then you will have to create *.mp4 files, and not *.mov.
i just recommended this beta software that will let you add very specific metadata tags, with copyright info (although they dont have an experiation or time limit for the file) that CANNOT be altared in iTunes, for example.

this is probably as close as you can get to copyright, not copy protection.
unfortunately, the files will still be able to be shared.

Protect javascript inside the PDF from de-compilation

I have developed an fillable PDF using acrobat, which will publish to public. some of the input field needed to be validated using some javascript.
When I google the de-complilation pdf, I found that some free de-compilation pdf tool and easily de-compile the pdf and my javascript can be found inside the result.
because these javascript is sensitive that I don't want it to be exposed to public, is there anything I can do to hide the javascript?

The Reader Extension hash won't stop someone from extracting content; it can potentially make it a little harder but if you can open a file in a non-Adobe application you can always extract content, no matter what the settings are.
DRM is the only reliable method of file-level security as it ensures only Adobe Reader or Acrobat can be used to open it. However when a secured file is running you still have access to the console, so determined snooping remains possible.

Is it possible to send the Pdf format of WebI linking report through email?

I have created linking between 2 WebI reports through OpenDocument. I can schedule the parent report and send it to User Email as PDF format, But when the user click the link in parent report its not opening the PDF format of child report after passing the parameter from Parent report. It throws following error.
Is it possible to send the linked reports(without breaking the functionality of passing the parameter to Child report) to user who don't have access to BO environment? Please help me out.
User needs to get the Parent PDF report in email, once they click the link it should pass the parameter to child report and the corresponding child report should open in PDF format. (In Infoview "View Mode" i can able to achieve this, how about in Email?).

So to achieve my requirement, according to my understanding I have to do the following steps.
Please correct me if I am wrong.
1. Without BO credentials the user can’t able to access the Link and child report created using OpenDoc.
2. To overcome this I have to create one reserved userid through Admin and assign to all set of Users who will use the Reports.
3. Have to use Single Sign on function through SDK to avoid the popping window for entering credentials right ?

I thought about connecting it to the SIM-Card of the respective mobile device. Is there any way in JavaME to do so?

Is there a free program or one for sale out there that protects your photographs when you post them on a website?
I have iWatermark but want one that doesn't distort the photos or put words on them. You know how you can right click photos on some sites but can't copy them or drag them onto a desktop? That's what I'm looking for.

Hi S,
It's the ability to read your source page (codes, php, asp, etc) that is a huge if not impossible to disable. There's common software out there that will only show the image locations. Just a simple right click over most images, choose "properties", will give you the exact location of an image within the root directory. If you're disabling right click, I assume you cannot look at a larger image of the thumbnail...
If you can see someone's page source, you can see exactly where the image is coming from, e.g. http:// address, folder, etc... I think there MAYBE a code to prevent someone from seeing your source, I'm not sure. If you have thumbnails you can click on, you might be able to see the URL of the image in the status bar. About the only thing I can think of that is pretty good is FLASH but that's another whole thing...
It can be done, it just all depends how much "code" you want to fool with and how easy it is going to be to rotate, add or subtract images in the future. Let me know when you get something up, and I'll try to copy the image and see how hard it is... :-P

Exporting a PDF for print, the PDF does not show a shadow effect

I have a drop shadow effect on an EPS object and some type that does not appear when I export the file as a PDF for print. The settings I have it set to are: Adobe PDF Preset: "High Quality Print", Interactive Elements: "Include Appearance", and Color Conversion: "No Color Conversion".
If anyone could help me I would greatly appreciate it!

Yes, I set my transparency blending space to CMYK. It didn't work.
I don't have a particular reason I am using an EPS over AI other than that's the type of file this object (logo) was saved as. I can get an AI. Is there any particular reason you recommend not using an EPS?

Copy Protection for files?

I want to put some videos on the web and make them available for download, though I would like to prevent people from having the ability to open the files in FCP or other programs and modify or save them into other formats. Is there anything I can do regarding this?

I hate to be the bearer of unfortunate news, but if you can download them and open them in the QT Player, then they can be saved to another format if you have the pro version.
No way around it.
The videos are playing because the codec supporting them is one the system.
The only other way to do this is to create flash video, which may or not export.
But then downloads become an issue.
But as the others have pointed out, unless you have some DRM attached to those files, you are out of luck.
The other approach is to add a logo or overlay to the video to permit viewing, but making editing unattractive.
That can be done in Compressor.

I have Windows 98 and need Acrobat to open up the pdf files for 5.0

I have the old system, Windows 98 and presently have the free Adobe 5.0 version on my Compaq Presario Computer, and it is a 5242 model desktop.
I have inadvertanly switched over to Compaq Carbon Copy 32 Version 5.0 but since, have uninstalled it and now, on each of what was the pdf files initially of which I have, of which is at least 16 or more, on each of those files, an error message comes up and says "PROGRAM NOT FOUND," and states the following: "Windows cannot find CCW32EXE. This program is needed for opening the pdf files." And then it has a dialogue box with the computer operational symbol in it as C:\ and then it wants me to locate it. I cannot locate it through the "auto" because, this sytem being so old, doesn't have a magnifying glass or a "search" tool to do this in the "My Computer Icon on the Desktop as the Compaq people wanted me to do. I would have to do this manually. I have already talked to the Compaq people on their chat line and because of this, they said they couldn't help me with this problem and referred me over to you.
I've tried to find a download for 5.0, though I really don't think I need one since it is currently installed. I believe the proper way to fix this is to just convert the CCW32EXE over to the Acrobat pdf files and have those files opened and should open up all of my 15 or so files altogether at the same time because they all converted over to something else at the same time prior.
Are you able to help me?
But I believe to alleviate this problem, if you could just give me the information to be able to open up the pdf files to 5.0 and find out what download I may pursue, it might be able to correct this problem. I already have the 5.0 Acrobat installed, however.

I have followed your directions and I have the old system of Windows 98, so I had to go to "programs" and come up to Acrobat 5.0 and once in there, all of the Window there is greyed out, although I can still go to the tool bars above in it. I went to "file" and went to "open" and from there, I received an "open" window with a dialogue box in it and in that dialogue box as I scrolled down, it wants me to put in there, one of the following, "desktop," "my documents," "3 1/2 floppy [A:]," "[C:]," "system _save [D:]," ""[E:," "[F:]," ete; of these which do I pick in the "open" dialogue box? and down at the bottom, is the FILE NAME and what do I put in there? Just below that, it has the FILES OF TYPE which has there Adobe pdf Files, in it's dialogue box. I hit these, but I still get an error message of which basically says, "NOT FOUND, please put in proper file name given." And I don't know actually where it is given.
