Copy purchased apps from old MacBook Pro onto a new one

How to get alls the purchased apps of my first MacBook Pro  copied onto my new MacBook Pro?

I've starting understanding your points.
1. I've checked the compatibility of one app appearing in the list of available updates on the new macbook pro. The update requires OX 10.9.1, whereas the Operating system on the new MacBook is OX 10.8.5. I have already upgraded the OX on the previous MacBook pro to OX 10.9.1. So I've just started to upgrade the OX version on the new MacBook.
2. I assume all are Apple applications as they were all pirchased or downloaded through Apple Store.

  • HT4889 how do i transfer my itunes account (with all my music, photos and ipad apps) from a macbook pro to a new macbook air

how do i transfer my itunes account (with all my music, photos and ipad apps) from a macbook pro to a new macbook air?

thanks but exactly how do I do this.  I tried setting the new macair up using migration assistant but for some reason not everything has come through.  I bought a thunderbolt cable to improve the transfer rate.
Now my question is how do I transfer the iTunes folder.  I have authorised the new macair for iTunes and am within the 5 computer limit.

  • How can I migrate iPhoto library from an old MacBook Pro to a new one?

When the hard drive on my MacBook Pro 13 needed to be wiped clean, I restored all my files from Time Machine except for my iPhoto files. Not sure why my iPhoto library wasn't restored, but it wasn't, and I can't find it on my Time Capsule. I want to move my partial iPhoto library from my old MacBook Pro to my new one. I understand this is possible by linking them in some way. What is that way?

There are three ways; using File Sharing over a network, transferring them via an external drive, or using FireWire Target Disk mode. If you use file sharing, use the AFP protocol. If you use an external drive, it or a partition or disk image on it needs to be formatted as Mac OS Extended.

  • Moving iPhotos from Old MacBook Pro to my New MacBook Pro!

How do I move my entire iPhotos Application from my old MacBook Pro to my new MacBook Pro? I want to keep all my albums and slideshows intact. Is this possible? I'm going from a MacBook Pro OS 10.5.8, iPhoto 7.5.1 to MacBook Pro OS 10.9.1 iPhoto 9.5.1

Migration Assistant has a poor record with iPhoto Libraries, unfortunately.
To move an iPhoto Library to a new machine:
Link the two Macs together: there are several ways to do this: Wireless Network,Firewire Target Disk Mode, Ethernet, or even just copy the Library to an external HD and then on to the new machine...
But however you do choose to link the two machines...
Simply copy the iPhoto Library from the Pictures Folder on the old Machine to the Pictures Folder on the new Machine.
    Then launch iPhoto. That's it.
This moves photos, events, albums, books, keywords, slideshows and everything else.

  • I need help transferring Bootcamp (Windows XP) from my old Macbook Pro to the new one. How do I make bootable clone of Bootcamp?

Hi I just got a new MacBook Pro I need help transferring Bootcamp (Windows XP) from my old Macbook Pro to my new Macbook Pro  Mac OS X 10.7.4  2.6 Ghz Intel Core 17. How do I make bootable clone of Bootcamp?

you can't just move XP even if you took the hard drive and have Windows boot and function.
Apparently there are Windows tools to sanitize the OS and strip all the motherboard drivers and services.
Time to get a supported OS. Don't want to pay, then use 8 for the time until it goes on sale.
There are no drivers for even Vista on 2011 and later Macs.

  • How do I remove or at least "hide" purchased apps from my iPad.  With the help of Apple support by phone, I "hid" unwanted purchased apps from my Macbook Pro; when I returned to the iPad all unwanted purchases were still there?

How do I remove or at least "hide" unwanted purchased apps from my Ipad?  Posed the question to Apple senior support this evening and we went to the Itunes store and removed all the unwanted icons from the collection of hundreds, one by one.  Cleaned up the Mac Pro nicely, leaving about 10 apps I wanted to keep.  Went back to the Ipad and they were all still there.  Senior support hasn't gotten back to me yet.  Any ideas?  Thanks. kjbarnett

Since hiding them on your Mac (you did it via the Purchased link under Quicklinks on the right-hand side of the store homepage ?) have you tried logging out and back into your account on your iPad ? I haven't tried it on the IOS 7.1.1, but with iOS 7 there was (or maybe still is) a 'feature' that meant that after hiding them you then needed to log out and back in on each iOS device for them to become hidden from the Purchased tab in the App Store app on it - tap on your id in Settings > iTunes & App Store and log out and then log back in.

  • How do I transfer CS5.5 from an old macbook pro to a new one via firewire?

My old MacBook Pro fried its graphics card and I need to transfer all of my data across to my new macBook Pro. I have everything backed up on a hard drive but when I try to open it it says that i can't because t is on a Time Machine Back-up. How do I get it to open? Do i need to get a new serial number? Not sure what to do from here.

You need to reinstall on your new MacBook Pro from your original media (if you purchased a DVD), or from the backup you made of the installation files.
You cannot successfully migrate CS5.5 using FireWire. That would not be successful. You can use the same serial number you had before. However, if you used all your two activations, you may have to Adobe to remove its listing of your old Mac so you don't lose one activation.

  • How to migrate from my old MacBook Pro to a new one with less disk space and an external hard drive?

I have just bought a new MacBook Pro and an external hard drive.
Yet I have problems migrating data from my old MacBook Pro (more internal disk space with around 500 GB data) to my new one (internal disk space less than 500 GB).
I have connected all 3 devices but it seems the Migration Assistant does not have an option for us to select to migrate to an external hard drive.
Any other way to do it?
    Kindly help me.  Thanks.

For your situation, Target disk mode may be the most efficient method:

  • Install an SSD from my old macbook pro into a new one without reformat - time machine problem!

    Hi all!
I've bought a new macbook pro 13" 2012 to replace my old macbook pro 2010.
In my old macbook pro 2010 I was using an Sandisk 480 SSD that has everything working and installed, as I sold the old one, I put my hard drive and format it to sell to my friend.
In the new macbook 2012, I soon I receive it, I replace the HDD with my old SSD an everything works normally except some problems that I'm discovering now!
MY new macbook boot without no problems and until now every software that I've testes is working ok! Some of them ask me to register again but all of them is working.
My problems starts with my VPN configuration, the new macbook looses all my VPN connections, but as it wasn't so much (only 6) I'm reconfiguring them as I need it.
My worst problem is happening with time machine backup. When I start my mac with the tima machine disk, it ask me if I want to inherit the old backups and I click to accept it, but the systems spends a lot of time searching for the time machine disk and them shows an error telling that is impossible to write on the disk.
I've checked the disk in disk utility and it's mounted as read/write. But I've tried to create a new directory on the disk and receive an error of operation denied!
What or where should I look to solve this problem?? Thanks!

You can resolve that by installing the 10.6.6 Combo Updater instead of the smaller incremental updater.
+BTW, you should never use a version of OS X that's older than the version that shipped with the computer.+

  • Fastest way to transfer information from my old MacBook Pro to a new one?

What is fastest way to transfer data between MacBook pros? It takes forever on wi-if.

Sometimes the fastest way would be just to transfer only your files via a external hard drive via drag and drop methods into the same named accounts on the new machine. This is especially useful if you want to avoid corruption of the old machine and have a chance to clean house of older files.
By the time one fiddles around finding a Firewire cable and adpaters, a standard USB 3 external hard drive could be done already and be gotten at any local computer or office store.
Also Retina's have SSD's and any data on them is not scrubbable like hard drives can be. Scrubbing SSD's would involve the entire drive being filled and this would wear them out prematurely as they have limited writes to each sector.
If you want to use Migration or Setup Assistant, there is some element of risk involved because your copying the corruption over from the previous machine if it exists. If you know the previous software is fine on the older machine, then you can use Carbon Copy Cloner to clone the whole OS X boot parititon to the external USB drive, then hook this up to the new machine and run Migration/Setup Assistant against it, just like you would in Firewire Target Disk Mode if you don't want to wait to get a Thunderbolt to Firewire adpater from Apple.
If you already have the Thunderbolt to Firewire adapter and a cable/adpater to the old Mac, then that's the fastest way.

  • HT4889 Transferring files from my old Macbook Pro to the new one takes over 30 hours?!?!

How is that even possible? I am trensferring the files using a tunderbolt cable and the wifi on the source computer is switched off to avoid trying to transfer the files over wifi. At first I thought the estimation was inaccurate and hope that when I leave it overnight it will be done by the morning but it wasn't, nor the morning after. I can see there is progress but it is so tremendously slow, it absolutely strains my nerves goven the fact that I have porpietary software on my ild computer that I really nee dto use now, and I am afraid what will happen if I disconnect.
It's been saying "less than a minute left" for almost an hour now but nothing is happening. Can/should I try to restart?

Ah, I see, you are right. My old MacBook is from mid 2010, so it simply has a mini display port, I just assumed it is the same thing since the cable fit and the computers recognized each other.
I wish I knew that before I started, as there wasn't really anything I could do at this point but wait for two days only to get stuck on the last minute. The only "guiding" message was on my new computer advising me to connect via ethernet cable. Ironically it showed the message on my new MacBook Pro, which doesn't even have an ethernet port...

  • HT4889 Is there a way to abort a transfer of data from an old MacBook Pro to a new one when you're using Wi-Fi?

Is there a way to abort a transfer of data from an old MacBook to a new MacBook Pro when you're using Wi-Fi?

If you are sure you want to to do it: command + option + esc, then and Force Quit.
ethernet is much faster than wifi.

I am not comfortable doing it myself. Actually, I do not know how to do it.

If by exchange you mean Trade-In...
Apple does not do Trade ins...
See Apple's ‘Buy Back’ program here... But you may prefer to sell it privately...
