Copy Recording from STB to DVD

I have recorded a treasured program on the STB. I want to transcribe it for permanent keeping on a DVD. Is there any way to do so?

You should be able to hookup the output of the DVR into the input of a DVD recorder.
Hit record on the DVD and play on the DVR.
Very old school.
I haven't tried it yet as I've only had FIOS 6 days.

Cannot copy files from CD or DVD using Finder.

Hi,
I cannot copy files and folders from a CD or DVD to my home folder or any folder therein using Finder. I just get the "Not Permitted" symbol next to the mouse pointer when I try to drag a folder out of the CD (or DVD) to my home folder.
I have checked that I have sufficient permissions to perform this operation and when I copy files from the CD or DVD using the command line, it works without any hassles.
This is extremely strange and I cannot think of why it should happen.
A solution would be most welcome as I would prefer not to have to drop into a command line when I have to copy files from CDs or DVDs.

I am experiencing the same problem: after undoing a copy in the Finder from my CD-drive to my Seagate 200GB FW-drive, I am no longer able to copy single files in the Finder from other drives than my harddisk. I can copy from my hard disk to my external harddisk, I can move and copy files within the harddisk, but I cannot copy from my external hard drive or my CD/DVD-drive to my harddisk or from my CD/DVD-drive to my external hard drive or the internal harddisk.
What is increasingly weird, is that I can easily copy two or more files using drag and drop! I also get a nice green + sometimes when trying to move the files, but there is just no response.
I have tried the following:
0) rebooted.
1) rm com.apple.finder.plist + killall -9 Finder
2) done that in the finder using cmd-alt-esc to kill the finder.
3) removed cache files using Yasu from http://jimmitchelldesigns.com/yasu.html, including rebooting
4) Doublechecked permissions, including locked bits
5) run periodic everything from the Terminal
6) repaired permissions
7) checked the hard disk using disk utility
8) Logged in as another admin user to no avail.
I can use the Terminal to copy the files without any problems, and I can open files in other applications and save them where ever from there, but the Finder refuses to let me.
May Gods wrath kill the Finder for good! I certainly hope 10.5 will show a new Finder!

All I would do is, in SQL*Plus, spool your output to a file and change the pagesize to however many lines you want before the next header break.
For example:
SET PAGESIZE 79
SPOOL OUTPUT.TXT
Would create an output file called OUTPUT.TXT with header rows produced after every 79 rows of data.

Copying records from MS Access to Oracle ODBC

I have a linked table from Oracle to an MS Access DB table. I am trying to "upsize" many records from the original MS Access DB table to one mirrored in Oracle.
All is well save for the currency field in the original MS Access table. If I change the field to number or something from currency in Access, I will lose the formatting and potentially the data.
I've tried several number combinations in the Oracle table but while I can copy and paste the records from the Access table to the linked Oracle table without getting any errors, when I query the records in the Oracle table it just shows pounds signs.
Is there a certain number format in Oracle I should use for this?
Is there a definitive way to make that work?
I'll take any feedback I can get on this.

ok, this is still a bit insane. I copied all the records over, and in the MS Access ODBC linked part, I see the numbers correctly.
After running various queries in Oracle, all are still showing #s unless it's a 0 value.
i.e.
SQL> SELECT LOAN_BALANCE FROM SEPTEMBERUPLOAD1A WHERE AUTOID < 30;

29 rows selected.So then the question is, while I assume the data is in there potentially, and correct at that, is there a formatting trick I need to apply when querying the data through Oracle? Will people just see the pound signs? Let's say I'm later writing a Perl (yuck!) or Java (yeaaaah!) app on the web to view the data, will people see # signs? Or will they see double/decimal type figures?
never mind....I guessed using the TO_CHAR function to retrieve it...I see that's what you do.

Cannot copy file (From external HD, DVD, server) - iTunes 6

Yesterday I've updated iTune to 6 and de facto Quicktime to 7.0.3.
Just after this upgrade, I remark that I cannot copy files, using the finder, from external hard disk, dvd drive and network drive. During the drag, I've got the circle indicating that I can't copy.
I can copy files only from my main hard disk to this one or others.
(Note: With terminal applications I can copy theses files).
Anyone else have this problems... or a explanation/solution.

I have an HP 610-1050F Touchsmart with built in TV. How can I record to DVD, a program that I have recorded and saved to my Hard Drive?

Recording from TV to DVD and then into iMovie

I would like to record many of the upcoming World Cup Soccer games to a digital format that I can use for easy importing into iMovie for instructional video.
I won't be able to edit clips as fast as the games are played so I thought recording to DVD's would be convenient when I went back to review the material, or would a PVR from shaw/tivo be more suitable...are these viable options, and does anyone have recommended hardware for this purpose?

You will need a software to record a sound / video from a DVD playback. Try the following:
1. How to record a DVD using VLC - You can get VLC here.
2. Recording audio playing on the computer using Audacity - You can get Audacity here.

Can't copy photos from iPhoto backup DVD - Privileges Problem

I have created several DVD backups of photos from iPhoto, but when I open the DVDs and try to copy and paste photos it says that I can't because I don't have sufficient privileges. I know about the possibility of clicking on the "sharing and permissions" and "Ignoring ownership on this volume" tabs from the get info section, but it is not possible for me as the DVD's info comes up with that area translucent, thus I can see those options but have no possibility of choosing any of them in "sharing and permissions".
Does anyone know a way to overcome this?
Does this mean I have to do something like use SUDO commands or something else complicated just to copy and paste photos from DVDs???
Is there not an option to make backup DVDs on iPhoto which are copyable?
Why would anyone backup photos so that they can't be accessed to copy and paste?

If you made the Back Ups with iPhoto's Share -> Burn command then when you insert the Disk into the Mac it will appear in the iPhoto Window. Drag the Events from the Disk to the Library heading in the iPhoto Window to restore them.

Copying Records from one form to another in Forms 4.5 (**URGENT**)

I have Form A through which I zoom to Form B (using open form). The user selects some records in form B. Those selected records should be displayed in form A after the user clicks a button say 'copy' in Form B.
What is the best possible method to do this.

You can accomplish this in two ways. To my knowledge you are not dealing with database tables in this issue. I guess. If you are then committing to the table and then requerying is the best thing to do.
You can use either PL/SQL table types or Dynamic Record Groups to accomplish this task. PL/SQL tables are only supported from PL/SQL Ver 2.0 in forms. As long as you are using FORMS 5.0 or above then you can any of the above methods. My example here will tell you how to use PL/SQL table/record types...
0. Create a PL/SQL Record type in a common library that you attach to form A and form B. Lets name it as FORMB_RECS.
1. In Form B write WHEN-CHECKBOX-CHANGED trigger for the check box that you are using to select records. In that please copy the record primary key or all values to the FORMB_RECS declared in the common library.
2. In the COPY button of Form B, copy the number of records in record group to global variable :GLOBAL.Copy_RecCnt and navigate to form A.
3. In WHEN-FORM-NAVIGATE trigger of form A, check and see if :GLOBAL.Copy_RecCnt is > 0. If so then loop through the FORMB_RECS in common library and populte the desired block in form A.

How to copy records from 2 file (one file depending from other file)

In fact I have 2 files orders (1 heading, 1 detail):
- COM_COMMANDES = heading,
- COM_COMMANDES_LIGNES = D2TAIL,
COM_COMMANDES_LIGNES depends on COM_COMMANDES.
When I make an INSERT INTO in COM_COMMANDES, it makes me creation well.
On the other hand, when I make an INSERT INTO in COM_COMMANDES_LIGNES, it creates me a recording BUT not with the identifying good (that created in COM_COMMANDES).
Result: I have well the order copied but without the lines.

I have everthing set up correctly. The problem is that at different points in the recording, television feedback appears on the recording! So whatever is on television at the time is getting recorded.

You should not select from Trial1 - you have the data already. Just insert that value.

Copying slideshow from ape to dvd

I have APE 10. I'm unable to copy a slide show with captions to DVD. Do I need adobe premiere to copy a slide show with captions to DVD?

Photoshop Elements 10 Elements Organizer 10 alone cannot take your Slideshow Editor slideshow to DVD-VIDEO on DVD disc.
Slideshow Editor,
Output option Edit With Premiere Elements puts your slideshow on the Premiere Elements 10 Timeline on route to its destination of DVD-VIDEO on DVD.
(This option allows you to break apart the Elements Organizer Slideshow in order to do any significant additional edits).
Output option Burn To Disc/DVD also requires Premiere Elements 10.
Output option Save As File Movie WMV will give you a wmv file that needs to be taken to a program that will put it into the DVD-VIDEO format on DVD, and not just do a data disc where all you end up with is the .wmv format on the DVD disc.
a. Windows DVD Maker
b. Other programs that will do the "authoring" and not "data disc".
Please review and then let us know if you have questions and/or need clarification on anything written.

Anyone ever try recording from PS3 to Mac using EyeTVHD ?

I am connecting my PS3 with a multi AV cable to the back of my PS3 and connecting the blue green red cables to the EyeTVHD but I always get a NO SIGNAL message on the Mac.
Has anyone tried this and got it to work?
Is it possible to record games, regular dvds, and bluray using this setup ?
Which are possible and which are not ?
I can record from my regular dvd player ( but picture only - no sound )
The back of the dvd player has a digital video out but I believe EyeTVHD only accepts analog input. So not sure how to get sound if that is the case.
If anyone can help with the PS3 connections or the dvd player sound - much thanks.
Is the only way to record bluray to purchase a bluray writer and would the bluray writer work with the PS3 using EYETVHD with the Mac - man it's really getting confusing now.

That's probably because, as you describe your setup, nothing is connected to the Mac.
