Copy servers

This is my first installation for Solaris 10.
I installed the Solaris 10 & my required applications on one Sun FireV210 server. Now I have another server & I want it to be a backup for the first one in case of any failure may happen.
So what is the best way to copy the first server (operating system & applications)?
I heard that I can use installation method called Flash Installation; so is it the best way or I can use something else?!!
& if its the way does anyone have the Solaris 10 flash installation documentation or a simplified installation tutorial??!!
Thanks in advance

Hi,
try to use HTTP for the transfer between
the two servers. Normally You can pass the
firewall using HTTP (like browsers do).
Therefor use classes in the java.net packages.

  • JBOD disk failure and lost items

    Dear.
We have a JBOD solution with 4 copies. Each copy is on a non-redundant disk.
For SMTP, the transport database has a shadow transport database and shadow safetynet on another server, which makes sure that a message isn’t lost in the event of a database crash at the moment that the SMTP message is being written to the database.
Is there some protection mechanism for MAPI or when an Outlook client is writing a contact or a meeting appointment a few seconds before the crash? I suppose that the appointment has been lost
because it’s not yet replicated to the copy databases?
Or, is there some end-to-end mechanism that returns the Outlook client that the appointment has been saved only when it’s already replicated to a copy database?
    Thanks for the feedback.
    Regards.

I found the following about the Block Mode replication:
"In block mode, as transactions are written into the ESE log buffer (the 1 MB cache used to accumulate transactions to be written into a transaction log), the log copier copies the data asynchronously (effectively in
parallel) to all the servers that hold a database copy. The data are written into a similar log buffer on these servers.
When the log buffer on the receiving servers is full, the complete buffer is written out as a transaction log. The new log is inspected to ensure that it is not corrupt, and if this check passes, the log is inserted into the
log stream to be replayed into the passive database."
So, can we decide that, in block mode, each change on the active database comes into the log buffer (in memory) and directly copied to the log buffer on the copy servers? The log copier copies the data from the source buffer directly to the receive buffer,
in real time. When the receive buffer reaches a 1 MB size, it writes a transaction log file that will be inspected and processed. This means that we potentially can lose data of a few milliseconds only?

  • Using VPN to access remote servers; copying files to desktop since "upgrading" to Mavericks no longer works. Can anyone help please?

    Hi everyone,
I work remotely using Cisco AnyConnect (company provided) to access the company servers. Until "upgrading" to Mavericks I was able to copy files directly to my desktop – from either the servers themselves, from within Bridge, and/or by using the finder - you get the idea. Now I can only copy the files by opening them while still on the server using the native app (in my case mainly InDesign/Photoshop/Illustrator files) and saving them to my desktop that way.
I'm a designer, I use a lot of files for my specific job every day and these files are often pretty large and doing it this way is time-consuming and really frustrating seeing as I had no such issues with the previous OS. It's not a total nightmare (yet) like some of things some of you are dealing with but I've spent more time restarting, freezing and trying to fix issues than I have actually using my darned machine. I have no choice but to access my work this way; I'm part of a much larger team and we all work on these files off and on during the day so I'm constantly needing to copy files and make sure I'm working on the most current version. Working off the server isn't an option as the speed decreases considerably... making the slightest task cringingly slow. As in 25 minutes for a PDF to be created slow.
I've been used to my system running smoothly, without issues and fast so this upgrade is turning into a bit of a nightmare. Before I throw in the towel and try and downgrade, does anyone have any ideas? My technical knowledge where these things are concerned isn't beginner but I'm no expert  and I'm stumped. I just don't know where to start and I'm afraid of screwing something else up during the process of trying to fix this (so far) one issue and creating a snowball effect.
I'm using a 27" iMac (late model 2012 purchased in March 2013) with a second Viewsonic monitor attached. I have a Cintiq 22HD hooked up (but not on all the time) and a Wacom tablet in use. I currently use both CS5 (work hasn't upgraded to CC yet) and Adobe CC (for personal use) on my system.
Any help/ideas would be greatly appreciated!
    Thanks!
    G.

    Hi,
By default, the Remote Desktop (RD) Gateway component that encapsulates RDP in HTTPS packets listens on port 443 (for TCP) and port 3391 (for UDP). After you changed the ports in Transport Settings tab, please make sure that you have opened the custom ports
    you selected in Windows Firewall.
In addition, since you have mentioned the registry key, would you please share the entire path?
It seems that you need to manually update the gateway in the RDP file with the port. Have you created an .rdp file? You can also refer to the link below:

  • Copy data Between different servers.

    Hello Floks!
I´m trying to migrate my essbase server to another machine. All is done, planning is installed and is working. When I copy the database folders (in my case Hyperion\Essbase\App\...) to the new server and i want to start the database, it throws an error: +Error: 1002097 Unable to load database [NCCost]+.
If I delete .esm file, database starts succesfully. But, when I refresh essbase from planning, .pag and .ind files are removed. So, when I go to forms, I don´t see any data.
Any idea? Is there any way to modify .esm file and do it work?
    Thanks for your time guys!
    Fabián.

    Hi Daylan!
Yes, I think that this is the best way, but, old essbase has a lot of data (it´s a production server). We think that this will take a lot of time, but now, I think that is the best way. I will research a few hours more for other export/import method, but I dont hope that exists.
The issue is that the servers are in differents networks.
    Any help is appreciated!
    Thanks for your time Daylan!
    Best Regards,
    Fabián.

  • Yahoo POP:  How to get copy of sent messages onto Yahoo servers?

I have a question regarding the Mac Mail program built into OS X. Is there a way that when sending an email (my address is a Yahoo Plus address) that a copy of it can be saved on Yahoo's servers in my sent folder?
Sending email through my iPhone or iPad copies a copy of it to Yahoo's server but Mac Mail does not seem to do this. Is there a setting I am missing?
I want to be able to log on to Yahoo webmail and see the emails I have sent via Mac Mail.
    Thanks!

Hello egiggy! I can certainly understand the need for retrieving the content of your text messages! In order to go further than 90 days, the only way to do this would be with a court ordered subpeona or through the request of a law official. You can request more information by contacting us directly at 800-922-0204.
Additionally, another great tool to keep record of your text messages is by using our service, Verizon Messages. http://vz.to/1LgAc7H I personally use this feature and love it! It keeps a record of all of my stored text messages, and upon installation can go back 90 days as well.
Please let me know if you have any further questions or concerns! Thank you and good luck!

Is following message due to 'Java' setting left unchecked?
Mac OSX supportsUser Authentication Mechanism (UAM) plug - ins from other manufacturers to control access to servers. To use a UAM, copy the plug - in to: Library/ Filesystems/ AppleShare/ Authenti

Man that is an ancient message.
The last time I saw that was using Mac clients connected to a Microsoft (Windows) Server running 'Services for Macintosh' which included the ability to act as an AppleShare compatible file server. Because Microsoft have a different security system for defining accounts which includes the 'domain' as well as username, the standard Mac AFP client did not know how to send that information.
Therefore Apple made it possible to installed a plugin in the form of a UAM or User Authentication Mechanism which added the ability to send this information to login to the fileserver.
    See http://support.microsoft.com/kb/101747
However Microsoft have long discontinued 'Services for Macintosh' and now the only way for a Mac to connect to a standard Windows Server is via SMB not AFP. I don't believe this plugin is available to download anymore.

  • How to move or copy drivers between WDS servers

Problem: getting the same driver sets on multiple WDS servers
At our company we have two sites and two Windows Deployment Services servers. The server at our main site had all the driver packages for the hardware we use and we wanted the other server to hold the same set of drivers. There were too much drivers
to re-create them manually on the other server. We found no 'normal' solution to this problem, like an export or import.
However on examining the contents of the DeploymentShare (or RemInst share) I found a folder 'Stores' containing a folder 'Drivers' which seemed to contain all drivers and a folder 'metadata' containing a database and a locked file...
Here's what we tried on a hunch and what turned out to be working:
Stop "Windows Deployment Services Server' service on the primary server.
Copy folder 'DeploymentShare\Stores\Drivers' with content to another location.
Start "Windows Deployment Services Server' service again on the primary server.
Stop "Windows Deployment Services Server' on the target server.
    Remove or move original  'DeploymentShare\Stores\Drivers'-folder.
Put 'Drivers'-folder from primary server in  'DeploymentShare\Stores'-folder
Start "Windows Deployment Services Server' on the target server.
Behold! The target server contains and services all drivers like the primary server (-:
    Use at your own risk...

    Hi Angry Technician
I had exactly the same issue as you.  I had copied all the RemoteInstall files and folders from the original WDS server to the new server.
The Driver Groups appeared, but not the driver files within the groups.  However when I restarted the WDS server a second time, they all appeared.  I didn't change anything in between, other than adding a Win8.1 boot image (which I highly recommend
    instead of the Win7 one!)
I realise you've probably restarted your WDS server a bazillion times before now (the posts are quite old) but I thought this might help someone else.
    Thanks

  • Copy file between servers, passing on firewall

I'm try copy a file between servers with Windows NT. I mapping the target server to drive X and test copying a file in windows explorer and command window and the files copy is OK. But if I try with a java class don't.

I have use the Runtime.exec() for execute a DOS command but don't("cmd.exe /c copy c:\myfile.txt x:\"). this second showme a message "username incorrect or bad password", but the same sentence I run in a command window and the copy is OK!

  • Error code 8084 when copying large files from VNX servers

    Hi,
We are experiencing problems when attempting to copy large files from our central VNX servers (EMC) using the connection format of smb://<host>/.  With Mavericks this will be SMB2, presumably.  Anything over a few MB in size fails with the error:
The operation can’t be completed because an unexpected error occurred (error code -8084)
Looking in the Console logs we see the following:
kernel[0]: smb2_smb_read_write_fill: len got reduced, must be running low on credits
If we attempt this on OS X Mountain Lion or below we have no problems.
If, with Mavericks, we connect using the format cifs://<host>/ then file transfers work.
Has anyone come across this before?  Thinking I should also post a bug...
    Cheers,

  • EREC: Copy data from servers

    Hello Experts,
I'm a project which the main scope is install new servers for E-Recruiting.
My question is, how can I copy Candidate's data from the old E-recruiting server to new one? Is there any standard report or recomendation from SAP?
    Thank you in advance!

    Hi,
what do you mean with new and old servers. Are you just changing the hardware or is the old system non-SAP? Some more details would really help here.

  • Shadow Copy feature on Servers with DPM

    Hello There,
Is it a recommended configuration to have Shadow Copy enabled on the file servers which are also being backed up by DPM? Please suggest.
And what are the pros and cons of using this mixed configuration.
    Regards,
    maqsood
Maqsood Mohammed Senior Systems Engineer MCITP-Enterprise Admin & ITILv3 Foundation Certified

    Hi,
    Adding Pros and Cons.
Local shadows enabled on the DPM protected computers.
PRO - Clients will get previous versions of files directly off of the protected server. May be faster copy depending on network topology and speeds.
PRO - Server owner has more control over the length of time previous versions are maintained based on shadowcopy storage limits.
CON - Uses local storage on file server, so may limit shadow copy storage size.
CON - Users will never see previous version on the DPM server, so that may limit self-recovery of file if they are maintained for a longer time on the DPM Server and not available in local shadow copy.
CON - Unless educated, clients (users) may not know that backups of files are available on the DPM server, so may settle for a previous version available to them only from the file server instead of asking for a restore for a more desirable version from
    help desk.

  • Copy/cloning ZFS zones between servers

    Hello,
We have two identical servers (two blades actually) and I created a zone with ZFS in one that i'd like to clone/copy to the other server.
Is this possible? if so? is there an easy way? I've searched in google and all I could find was copy/clone in the same server, but no info accross servers.
    Thanks!

I think you will be able to use the ZFS replication features to sync your zone directory and data volumes to a remote host.

  • Copy from running database-servers

I have a system with several oracle database servers (different versions). Four of the servers make a replication among themselves (multimaster).
Now a new database server is to be "developed", which stores the data of all the old servers redundantly. All servers run on Linux.
I'm looking for a way (best with oracle standard tools / features), how to copy the data to the new server, without having to stop the old databases.
Is there a way to do that?
    Thanks in advance

  • Copy appsets between servers

    Hi guys,
I will shortly have to copy an appset between two servers, and the data also.
Please could someone give me a definitive list (Warning: newbie alert!) of what exactly I need to move?
I know I need to backup the appset using Server Manager from the original machine, and Restore it using Server Manager on the new machine, but what if the drive mappings are different between my old (dev) server and my new (live) one?
Presumably, I can backup, move and restore my database too? Or is it not that easy??
Like I said, this is new to me, so I just want to make 100% I don't forget anything!
Thanks folks, I appreciate your help.
    Best wishes,
    Jason

    Dear Jason Maidment,
It's only way to copy appset between server using Server Manager. You right to backup Appset from original machine and restore in new machine. If you restore Appset using Server Manager, SAP BPC will automaticlly restore files, database, and OLAP. I've tried to restore Appset in new machine which the drive mapping is different from original machine and I never get something error.
I hope my information can uses for you.
    Thanks,
