Copy to Project Folder?

When I link to an external file that's located on another
drive, I'm giving the option to copy that file
into my project folder.
If I say yes, then the copy in the project folder is
accessed.
But if the original file is changed, the two will be out of
sync.
Is there anyway for RoboHelp to automatically resync these
files?
Also, I would've guessed if the file is copied into the
Project folder, its contents would show up on a search,
but I guess that's not the case...unless I'm doing something
wrong?
I'm using WebHelp for my primary layout.
Hopes this makes a little sense :)
Doug

No you cannot keep the two in sync. In theory you could
create an external link but RH would likely "correct" it so that
the path is relative in the source. You would then need to output
to a folder at the same level as the source projects rather than to
the !SSL! folder. Finally that path would have to hold true
wherever the help is run.
The likelihood of that breaking is pretty good!
BTW. The problem is not the fact the document is on a
different drive, just that it is external to the project.
On searching, no RH does not search the target of links.
There's an article about ZoomSearch on my site and that can work on
documents inside the project.

  • Audio drag & drop = (?) copy to project folder ?

    Hi,
sorry for the enigmatic topic title, but it explains what I want to achieve.
I would like Logic to copy an audio file to the projects directory after I drag & drop it in the arrange (just like it is in Cubase).
I'm really confused about the way Logic handles audio files, and reading the manual did not help me at all. I've been working with Logic for the past year and still audio is a bit... difficult. Any advice and tips is highly appreciated.
    greetings!

    Hi
Before you start work on a project, select File"Save As..." and check the 'Include Assets" box.
(This sets the project audio recording path to the project folder).
Hiding under the 'Advanced Options', there is a check box to select "Copy External Audio Files to the Project Folder".
    This does what you need!
Please note that you must use Version 8.0.2, as the behaviour has changed. See the Late-Breaking News docs for more info.

  • I got error 8: vi resource not found After copy the project to another location

I copied the project folder in C: to D:
I opened a .vi file in D: then closed LabView.
I try to open the same .vi file in C:   I got :"LabVIEW Load Error Code 8 -   Could not find VI resource".
I checked all the files in C:  no file have been modified.
I'm using LabView 5.1 with Windows NT.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Suesong,
This KB seems to suggest that the erro you are getting is a result of the Vi in question being compiled in a newer version of LabVIEW:

Did you open it up in a newer versions and save it?

  • OSB : How can we copy  actions from one project folder to other projects?

How can we copy actions from one project folder to other projects in OSB?
    For eg:
I have a service call out action in Project1/proxySer1
I want to copy this to Project2/proxySer2.
Espicially, in our case error handling callout is common to all of our projects and we should be able to copy from one to another.
    Edited by: user10367892 on Aug 20, 2009 12:28 PM

    Thank you for the reply.
It was my fault. I was on two different servers, while i was doing this and so didn't work. But copy /past action works as you suggested.
Can I select multiple actions from one stage and paste to different proxy service? I have too many options to copy/paste and hence I have this question.
Is there any other way of copying all selected actions in one stage to another, but not the complete stage itselft?

  • Copy clip from timeline to Project folder

I've synced a video clip to an audio clip that was recorded separately, and linked them.  How do I save this combo?  Dragging it back to the project folder only copied the audio track.  Help please!

That's correct: nesting is the "official" term for it. You can either pre-build your sequences, and then drop them into your final sequences like clips, or you can drop your constituent clips into the final sequence, select them, and then use the Nest command. The final result is the same, but if I'm doing something like you're doing, I'll typically use the former approach; I don't like how Premiere defaults to calling any sequence created through the Nest command something like "Nested Sequence 34." I'm a little too AR to deal with that If I prebuild my sync sequences, I can name them as I see fit and it's much easier to track the footage. You can even drop one of your clips on the New Item icon and have a sequence created that matches its settings and is named the same as the original clip. There are several ways to skin the proverbial cat here.
Once I have a sequence that consists of 4 video and one audio clip, how do I splice it and dice so that I use only portions of it where needed (the same way I would as if the sequence were a clip)?  Remember that only one video clip can be linked to the audio clip (right?).
You can either drop it into your destination sequence and trim it up there, or if you hold down the Control key, if you double-click one of your sequences it will load up in the Source Monitor like a clip. You can also just drag the sequence item to the Source Monitor. From there, edit it into your final sequence as any other clip.

  • "Copy IR's to Project Folder" bug

I was having a problem where everytime I hit save, Logic would reinitialize and would have to reload all samples in all VI's. I tried deleting prefs, copying the session, everything I could think of and it wouldn't go away. What was weird is that it would only do it in some projects and not others.
I finally found it today. I had recently started enabling the "Copy IR's to Project Folder" option in the Project settings so that I would have my IR's when I switched rigs. For some reason, saving these IR's makes Logic reboot.
By unchecking this option the problem disappeared and now I can save with out reloading all samples!!

  • How do I copy a project to another computer?

A project in FCPX has grown from its original scope. I've now got four different Events on an old iMac (maxed out with 4GB). I want to move the project to another Mac. I've copied over all of the Event folders as well as the Project folder. (Total: about 100GB)
The problem is that the timeline tells me I'm missing clips, but they were all consolidated into the Event folders before copying them to the second Mac. Trying to reconnect each clip is not working (because it's like cutting the whole thing again). Many of the edits used "Favorites," excluded "Rejected" clips, had audio corrections, transitions, connected storylines, etc.
Is there a way to save my edits when moving this project? (Re-editing the whole project is almost impossible to consider.)
    Thank you.
(I'm running 10.6.8 on the old computer and 10.8.2 on the new one. Both are running FCPX 10.0.6.)

Sorry for the incovenience. It's fine. User error. [head slap]

  • IMovie '11 How do I recover a project that appears within the IMovie Projects folder but does not show in the Project Library?

I have had my MBP for just over 3 months now!  Yes, I made the switch and up until now I have been quite happy.
I now have my Time Capsule, Apple TV running and am generally getting used to life as a Mac user.............even bought Aperture and loaded all the family photos.  Now time to make some Travel movies.
I have been working on a particular IMovie project for a few weeks now.  Size is 365MB.  Yesterday I closed IMovie and when accessing later that project is not available in the Project Library window.  It does appear in the IMovie Projects folder but I cannot open it.  I have copied the file to DVD just in case.  All up I have 4 Projects, the other 3 are practice files, smaller but they do appear in the Project Library.
I have scoured the bulletin boards and tried many suggested fixes to no avail.  Main suggestion was to remove the following files from Library/Preferences
    com.apple.iMovieApp.plist
    com.apple.iApps.plist
However, this did not sort out my problem.  In the end I put back the original files.
Does anyone have a straightforward fix for my problem or is this one of those ongoing issues that that needs Apple's attention.
After all the file is there with the others.  They are available.
I realise that I can restore from Time Capsule but I am missing the last three days thanks to 'drop out'.
    Thanks.......

Yes, considering we have an ongoing 'glich' within an Apple program with no obvious solution, we should be able to direct it straight to an Apple rep.  I will peruse this possibility when I get a moment.
You can report the problem by providing feedback to Apple. In the iMovie app, from the menu select iMovie > Provide iMovie Feedback. This will take you to an Apple page where you can complete a form and submit it to Apple.
The fix for this will probably turn out to be simple/easy.....................so why doesn't Apple comment and/or address it????
Other than the forum moderators, Apple doesn't normally monitor these forums, nor make comments on posts. So, it's up to us to report the problem to them directly (using the feedback form mentioned above).
As the problem has affected me just the one time (touch wood), I haven't bothered to report it as yet. But, after seeing your posts on this, I'm now reconsidering that. Something must be triggering it. My system is in pretty good shape, so I'm guessing it must be a glitch of some sort, either in Mountain Lion or in the iMovie app itself. Perhaps it's a 3rd party app causing the problem? It doesn't give us much confidence now, in that we may start worrying about losing other projects.
A good practice is to duplicate the project from time to time (something I'll be doing more of), although Time Machine backups also provide the necessary security. To duplicate, in Project Library view (where all the projects are listed) click on the project name so that it is highlighted, then select File > Duplicate Project. Alternatively, right-click (or Control-click) on the project name and select Duplicate Project from the pop-up menu. Of course, you may already know this. Duplicating probably won't guarantee that the copy will not also disappear from the Project Library, but is worth doing anyway.
As I mentioned in the post I linked to earlier, when the problem arose with my iMovie project I was using ProRes 422 clips I had imported from a Final Cut Pro X Event. My immediate thought was that ProRes 422 had caused the problem. But this of course may have been coincidental - reinforced now by your experience, where you are probably working with Apple Intermediate Codec (AIC) clips.
Anyway, glad to hear that you've recovered your project through Time Machine. Unfortunately, I had to start from scratch as I had Time Machine turned off during my editing sessions (that's a story for another day).

  • Creating XML file in Project folder thru Java Program

    hi,
i need one help. i need to create XML file in web://<Project Folder> in xmII thru Java Program. i created one java code and i am able to access XML file that is in c drive. i created jar file for this and placed as action block in Transaction and this working fine. but problem arises when i give file path in java code as web://<folder name>/file.xml which is in Web folder of project in xMII.
How to access the file that is inside web folder from java code.
    regards
    senthil

    Hi Senthil,
you can address the files that inside the MII workbench are viewed as "web://..." like this:
    http://<server>:<port>/XMII/CM/<Project>/<Folder>/<Filename>
The workbench helps you find the correct filename:
    - open the WEB tab in the workbench
    - right-click on the filename
    - select "Copy Link" from the pop up
Now you have the correct link in your clipboard. You can use the "web://" only inside MII.

  • EXS samples in Project Folder...

When I tell Logic to copy my samples to the project folder (using the Assets section of the Project Settings), is Logic still using the samples from their original location during playback, or is it now playing the files from my Project Folder?
I'm hoping it's still using the original files, which are located on a different drive than my Project Folder. I think copying the samples to the PF is just for the convenience of having all my project material in one place... True?

Yes this is true. If I am not sending the project elswhere I don't resave the samples thus avoiding wasting lots of hd space for duplicates.

  • Template does not appear in project folder

    Hi
My template has disappeared from my project. Therefore, I
have tried reimporting the template to the 'Templates' folder in
the project folder. When I do this, I do not get an error message.
But the *.htt file does not appear in the 'Templates' folder and I
cannot attach it to help texts?? When I open my file manager I can,
however, see that the *.htt file is indeed placed in the current
    project. Can anybody help?
    Thanks
    Lena

Yep! These forums are littered with problems caused by
working over a network. RH is essentially an Access DB and this has
well documented problems with networks. Work off your hard drive
and back up to your network each night. That's works for me. Try
importing your template once you've copied your project to your PC
and come back if you still have problems. You may have to recreate
your template as it is not impossible that the .HTT file has become
    corrupted.

  • No audio with copied imovie project

I copied my imovie project from my time machine backup to another my mac mini. I put it in the imovie projects folder and I can open it up in imovie, but the audio isn't playing. It seems to be there. I can see the green area around my video and see the names of the songs, but I can't hear anything. The volume is on. I can play songs from itunes.

I'm trying to help a teacher with an iMovie '08 problem and this seems to match the problem we are experiencing, but I don't understand how to implement the answer given. (I'm a newbie to iMovie '08 so please forgive the basic nature of this question).
This user's iMovie project is in /Users/kate/Movie/iMovie Projects.localized/Blah Project
The audio clips are showing (and some have two layered audio clips: narration and background music).
One of the audio clips does play, but I can't see any settings difference between the ones that don't play and the one that plays. I'm assuming it is because the audio files are missing (as the answer was above). But where do I find out what relative path the project is expecting? And how might I find the missing sound files? (I have no idea how this project was created or where the user might be storing things in a non-standard way).
Basically, I need more detailed instructions on how to get the filenames of the clips and the relative paths so I can copy the correct things where the need to go (if this is indeed my particular problem).
    Thanks for any assistance!

  • Create New Project and put photo in from another project folder

This is what I thought was going to be a relative task.
Move a batch of photos from one project folder into another new empty one.
I can highlight and select the photos in question and select Edit and Copy.
Go to new project folder, but No Paste function available.
I then see the New From Selection in the menu bar....but no New Project.
    Anyone help me out here?
Mac intuitive !!!!what a load of ???X?£?$

Ummm OK, tried that and yes it does work, but when you have a large list of projects, it means having to drag a long way down the list, while it is scrolling.
Bit inconvenient, but if it is the only way. Shame this does not have keyboard shortcut like so much of the Apple stuff
Will probably have to name a project similar to the one I want to copy from in the future, then rename it again afterwards.
    Thanks

  • Reference source files outside project folder

My company wants to create one large help project. However we don't want all the HTML source files to be stored in that project. We want to store these files in another folder outside of the project. I'll try to simplify the situation.
I created a "RH Test Project 1" with a topic called "Welcome." When you look in Windows Explorer in the RH Test Project 1 folder, you'll see all of the files RH creates (.xpj, cpd, hhk, hhc, etc.). The "Welcome.htm" file is also in the RH Test Project 1 folder.
I actually want this "Welcome.htm" file to reside in a folder I created called "RH Test Project src." If I copy the Welcome.htm file to my new src folder, my project contains a broken link, as expected. I don't want to import the welcome.htm file because that creates a copy that goes right back into the RH Test Project 1 folder (essentially I would have a "Welcome.htm" file in RH Test Project 1 and RH Test Project src folders).  All I want to do is to be able to reference the Welcome.htm file. I want to be able to edit and work with this file in RoboHelp but I don't want it to reside in my project folder. I want it to reside outside the folder.
    Desired structure:
    RH1 Project
    -- RH1.xpj
    RH2 Project
    -- RH2.xpj
    Source Folder
    -- Subfolder 1
-- Welcome1.htm  ( I don't want either welcome.htm topics to be in the RH1 Project or RH2 Project file structures)
    --Subfolder 2
       -- Welcome2.htm

    Rick,
The scenario at hand is to have a single set of source documents that can be bundled either as one large project or many smaller projects. The issue with putting everything in one location (sub folder) is that there are over 25,000 topics to deal with and scrolling through them and managing them, as well as the performance when opening RH, is problematic.  What we as developers are trying to do is model the RH solution after the Microsoft Visual Studio paradigm where the source files are all included in a project, yet come from different locations.  If I get a tax break for having a house with an address in Arizona yet built in Florida, why not build it there? It seems to work quite well with boats registered in Delaware but not anywhere close to that state!!
Suppose I have the simple case of three projects I need to deploy separately for one client, yet as a single output for another? The file structure we’d want would be:
    C:\RH\Project1
    C:\RH\Project2
    C:\RH\Project3
    C:\RH\Project_ALL
    C:\RH\SOURCE
Based on current understanding, you are telling me that I need to have
    C:\RH\Project1
    C:\RH\Project1\Source
    C:\RH\Project2
    C:\RH\Project2\Source
    C:\RH\Project3
    C:\RH\Project3\Source
    C:\RH\Project_ALL
    C:\RH\Project_ALL\Project1\Source
    C:\RH\Project_ALL\Project2\Source
    C:\RH\Project_ALL\Project3\Source
This means I need to manipulate changes to a file in multiple locations rather than sharing the source.  If this is indeed what needs to be done we can manage that using symbolic links and images of the files, but in this case our file structure goes from 25,000 files to well over 150,000 as we have 7 projects we support.
It just seems to be a ridiculous limitation that source must reside under a project rather than in a set location as every other development tool we use (InstallShield, Microsoft Visual Studio, HP Mercury, et al) can handle this.
That being said, your time and input is appreciated.
    - Niki, on behalf of Mgmt (who are not having difficulties in comprehending your responses, but are incredulous that software behaves this way based on past experience with other tools)

  • Copy iMovie Project from MBP to iMac via DropBox?

My AVCHD Camcorder records to SDHC card and has my latest holiday on it (1.6GB of it).
My iMac doesn't have an SD slot so I ordered a USB Multi-cardreader and had to wait for it to be delivered before I could import my project into iMovie '11.
Meanwhile, as it happened, my daughter went on holiday and lent me her MacBook Pro. It occured to me that I could use the MBP's built in SD reader and I successfully imported my holiday clips into iMovie'11 on her MacBook.  I even got it to analyse for stablisation and persons.
This morning the anticipated USB SDHC (and other card) reader arrived.  I tried to use it to import the clips into my own Desktop iMac.  Unfortunately the device is rubbish. It has a small mini USB cable to power it.  The cable fell out several times each time forcing the Mac to tell me off about not unmounting the device properly.  When I eventually found a way to stop the power cable falling out, iMovie couldn't import the clips without errors.  Using DIsk Utility to try and fix it failed because DU was unable to dismount the device for some reason.
Never mind, I thought, I will just copy the clips I imported yesterday to my daughters MacBook.
We both share a DropBox Folder and I think there is enough space on it to transfer 1.6GB.  How do I do this?  I mean, is it simply a case of copying a certain folder to DropBox then from DropBox to the relevant place on my iMac?
Also, I have a vague recollection of reading somewhere something about file sharing.  I have an airport router, I wonder if it would be just as simple to transfer the appropriate folder this way instead?

If you copied the entire contents of the card with the file folders intact, you can try to import using iMovie. Best case scenario, iMovie will recognize the folder and import the AVCHD files. If not, you'll need a converter of some sort. There are many apps out there that will convert AVCHD but the reason I recommend ClipWrap is that the re-wrap simply changes the container of the movie so that the Mac can read it. The contents remain the same and you have no quality loss, whereas most other converters actually re-write the data.
Another user over at Vimeo has a free option that people say has worked for them. To quote:
"Alan Somers over at Apple Discussions has made an Automator script to convert native AVCHD files with sound to mpeg 4 (m4v) the files have AC3 audio and are about the same size as the original file. You will first need to install ClipGrab from here clipgrab.de/download_en.html (free) to your application folder then Perian codecs from here (free)perian.cachefly.net/Perian_1.2.1.dmg then Alan's Automator from here (free) place anywhere (desktop works) public.me.com/catservant it's called Rewrap2M4V.app if you would like to read the thread or thank Alan for his work see here discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2380085&start=0&tstart=0
Please note the quality is excellent but you will loose the "date" information from the original file."
