Copy WLC Config from 2006 to 2106

I've had a WLC 2006 for a while. Just purchased the WLC 2106 as an upgrade. Is it possible to copy the config of the 2006 to the 2106? I don't want to have to manually recreate the WLANs and reassociate the APs with the new controller. I have tried saving the 2006 config to a TFTP server and uploading it to the 2106, but I get an error saying file type is not supported.

I did jsut notice there is a bootloader update available for the 2106. I didn't look for it before, I thought I read the 2106 couldn't have the bootloader updated.
"Note - You can use this command to verify the boot software version on all controllers except the 2106 because the bootloader is not upgradable on the 2106 controller."
Can you verify if this is correct as well as having a bootloader mismatch is causing my config copy issues?

  • Unable to copy current-config from IPS 4240 to FTP server

I am in the process of upgrading our Signature File at a client site where there is a 4240 installed.
The readme file for Signature S353 indicates that a copy of the running configuration should be saved away.
I have FTP running on my desktop.
I am entering the following command on the IPS at CLI:
    bhiips# copy current-config ftp://192.168.5.189
where I am then prompted for my username, then filename, then password.
I watch as the IPS indicates "Generating current config".
The log output of the FTP (Filezilla) shows my FTP connection successful, but then it bombs. Here is an excerpt:

What could be the problem here? I checked the Windows Firewall on my workstation at 192.168.5.189,but it is turned off. I am not sure why I cant save the config away.
It is holding me up from moving forward with the upgrade to Sig 353.
    thx

Have you checked permissions on your FTP server to see if a client is able to PUT a file onto your FTP server.
Try connecting from a separate windows PC to your FTP server and login with the userid and password you are using in your copy command. And then try to push a file with a similar name on to your FTP server.
It could be that the FTP server is not configured to allow that userid to put a file on the server.
When you try the above test try and use an FTP client that supports Passive mode. There might be a problem with passive mode on your FTP server.
You might also try running another test from the sensor, but this time instead of copying the configuration try copying the license file from the sensor to your ftp server.

  • How can I copy the config from one SF300-24p to another?

I can download the config, but do not see any upload options.
    Fred

    Fred,
The saved config is a text file.
You should be able to backup a config to your desktop and restore it to another similar unit.  I hope..
    let me know if you have any problems. See my screen shot below;

Is it possible to copt master's startup-config file via ftp and modify than paste in slave one?

you can copy the config from one css to a ftp server.
First create an FTP record in config.
Then use the command 'copy startup-config ftp '
Edit the file and adjust circuit ip addresses and app settings.
Then copy it into the standby CSS with the command
    copy ftp startup-config

  • How to push the config from WCS to WLC

    Hi Everyone
sorry a total noob here. I had to reset factory my WLC. how can I download the config from WCS? Cisco Prime? I have the config backed up there but I cant see an option to push the config
    thanks alot

If the device is already in the Prime Infrastructure, you can open it in Device work center and select the device > use the configuration archive option > scheduled deploy.
Also, the Prime Infrastructure Plug and Play feature allows you to perform an initial provisioning of a software image and configuration on a new device. For more details check :

  • How to import config from 4404 WLC to WLC 5508

    Hi all
In one week I need to import the config from my 4404 WLC to my new 5508, then I just want to change the mgnt IP address of the 5508 and then bring it into the same mobility group.
How do I import the config when the 5508 is straight out of the box?
    Many thanks
    Carl

    Heck!!!!
This is unfortunately correct as per the doc you provided! :-(
I am already aware that there are some commands and features differs among different platforms but I thought Cisco passed this barrier by making WLC platform chooses appropriate commands from config file and ignore commands that does not suite importing platform!! but it does not seem to be correct!!!!!
I think if backup config file has only features that another platform support then config restore would possibly work.
But if config file has commands that considered unknown to the importing platform then here the problem may reside!
Surendra: do you know what are the consequences of doing this unsupported scenario of moving backup config amont different platforms?
I think Carl can try restoration process anyway and if does not work he can go to manual configuraiton then. But he is still have the chance of getting the config restored correctly.

  • Copy startup or running config from 2811 rommon

I have a 2811 that has a bad CF slot. I don't have a USB stick small enough (4GB is the smallest, unless it'll use it partitioned as a 2GB) to copy IOS to the 2811. Right now I'm trying to copy the IOS image via xmodem into DRAM and booting that way. TFTP kept failing.
If this doesn't work, is there a way to copy the startup/running-config from rommon? Even if I can just view the config that would be fine. I thought I had the config copied off of it, but can't find it for the life of me.

TFTP transfers fail, I've tried it a couple of times. I'm going to try xmodem again.
I can get into priv mode, but meminfo will not give me the hex addresses needed to dump. I get the hex address of the start of the main memory,  nothing else.
Edit: The xmodem download completed, but I get the same error as trying to boot from the CF card:

  • What's wrong? Verify and compare Cisco 2901 config after loading old config from Cisco 2801

    Hi Cisco Community / Friends,
I am new to this site though I have cisco account for many years. I am a CCNA ,I  passed my certification on January 2013 I seldom use and utilized my skills on networking becuase of my type of work. I am Project Eng'r working in a System integrator company . Anyway, I would like to ask assistance on the configurations of my Cisco router for this gov't projects.. Here's the situation.
We have a new project for the VSAT Comm'n of  Coast Watch Station ,  The VSAT was installed 7 years ago. The VSAT was only used for a year by this Gov't agency because of  subscription issue. Now, they wants to revive and use their VSAT facilities for the Coast watch monitoring. Now, some of this routers are working up to now and for some site  are already defective so I need to replace the old 2801 router with a new equivalent model which is Cisco 2901. My plan was just to load the old config into the new Cisco 2901 router. However, after loading it to the new router, I am a little worried because I've got some errors received. I load the old config by copying the old files, edit it in notepad, and load the config using Secure CRT (terminal emulator). When I copy the old config of cisco 2801 to new router cisco 2901 , below are the command not recognized on Cisco 2901. What's wrong ? What are these commands for?
Appreciate your comments and help on this matter.. Thank You very much
Note: I Attached the original config from Cisco 2801 and the other file is the config after I load the config file to Cisco 2901.

    Hi
    From Cisco's website:
The Modem Management Interface (MMI) is software that enables auto-provisioning for the Cisco 827 routers. The MMI uses a fixed PVC to communicate with the Proxy Element (PE) residing on the digital subscriber line access multiplexer (DSLAM). Using MMI, the Cisco 827 router updates the running image and downloads the prescribed configuration using a configuration file or configuration values in a provisioning information database.
The customer premise equipment (CPE) can be automatically configured using the Cisco DSL CPE download, but it can be configured only with the image provisioning feature.
So because this is your device, you don't want to use MMI anyways.
And "priority-list" is QoS. Probably that QoS-command is old and removed, because now QoS is configured using class-maps and policy-maps.

  • How to copy OVD configuration from one machine to another?

We have two machines with OVD servers on them. The configurations should be identical from one machine to the other. We suspect there is a problem with the configuration on one of them. We need to know how to copy OVD configuration from one machine to another.
Can you tell us how to do that?

well i have this in mind which may help you.
You would need to have a public ip address to the machine you have consoled to and on internet.
Download the tftp software from below link.
    http://tftpd32.jounin.net/
This software does not only act as the tftp server but also you can select the interface of you ethernet card as tftp server ip address.
For ex if you are connected to a console and have a wireless card which is connected to internet also you connect you eth lan card to the eth or fast eth of the router.
you can select which ever interface you want to act as the tftp server.
you will need to add ip addres for you lan card and also config the router port as same if needed.

  • Use of Adjust function to copy standard config for Upgraded system

I have worked on a number of different ERP 6 systems that have been upgraded from previous versions.
Some of the basic standard delivered config will be missing and there is a simple task of using the "adjust" function to copy the standard config  from client "001" to the developement client "XXX"
However I know have a client who has the missing config in the dev client "XXX" but when you use the adjust back to "001" there is nothing there.
Do you know a way to re-create the core config?
An example is in Dispute Management - if you go to the case type config. SAP delivers F_DM as a base - but there is nothing there.
    thanks

Try to copy from  client "000"

  • WLC Config Analyzer and AP Model / End of Sale APs

Be nice if the WLC Config Analyzer spit out a list of end of sale/end of life.  I know the some TLMA type tools will do this with SNMP.
I've got a show run-config from a lot of 5508s running 7.6 and want to recommend older APs be replaced, however each controller has almost 500 APs on it.  I could do a "show ap summary" and then some excel magic to find them.
Be nice if I could do a sort/statistic of what model APs across many 5508s.

You need to configure the AP's in h-reap or FlexConnect which it is called in version 7.2.  This way you can specify what ssid is mapped to what local vlan.

We have 4 group agents and requirement is to setup a auto registration with separte device pool for each
I guess this is possible in avaya to acquire the desired extension using config file

    Hi
CIPC can get the TFTP address from Option 150 the same as the phones do - just add option 150 to the data VLAN DHCP scopes as well as the voice... or it make it a global server option, that way you don't have the think about it again!
    Alternatively, you can either:
    1) Push out a registry setting using whatever you manage desktop software with (i.e. MS SCCM, Altiris, the office junior)... set HKLM/Software/Cisco Systems, Inc./Communicator/TftpServer1 to the address. This is encoded so the easiest way would be to copy this setting from a configured/working PC.
    2) Better still, when deploying the software, use the MSI and specify the switch to set the TFTP server:
    msiexec /i CiscoIPCommunicatorSetup.msi /qb TFTP1="IP Address 1"
    (From

  • WCS Refresh Config from Controller Fails

Have been able to refresh config from controller successfully in the past, but now it only works on 1 of 4 controllers. Receive error "Failed (see logs)". Any idea why this would fail, and/or where I can find these logs? All controllers are reachable.

For what it's worth, it is generally recommended that the WCS be at a MORE recent or same revision level (in terms of date, not version numbering, per se) as the controllers.
Have you upgraded the controllers prior to the WCS? It is my understanding that upgrading in the wrong order (i.e.: Upgrading the WLC/WiSM before the WCS is upgraded) might cause problems.
    Just a thought.
