Copying 1h 30m in Numbers 2.3, Pastes as 1m 30s in Numbers 3.0.

Hi,
I'm trying to copy columns of durations from numbers 2.3, ie:
1h 23m
2h 15m
27h 12m
etc..
into numbers 3.0. Unfortunately it converts them to:
1m 23s
2m 15s
27m 12s
etc..
This would be fine if it wasn't now messing up my totals from the last 2 years of data!

Thanks, I think I've found the root cause. I export a months worth of data at a time from my work database to add to my own records at home. It looks like the excel sheet that it spits out is formatted as text 2:31. I could open this with Numbers 2.3 and reformat it as a Duration and it worked coming out with 2h 31m, not so with 3.0, this comes out with 2m 31s.
Unfortunately i can't force the database to export as 2h 31m so the work around I've come up with is to open the exported excel sheet as numbers 2.3 format the columns as 2h 31m then copy it across into my main Numbers 3.0 sheet.
I'll have to chat to the IT chaps at work and see if they can do anything with the exporting side of things.
Not ideal, any better ideas?

Problems pasting from Excel 2008 to Numbers

I'm trying to make the switch from Excel to numbers and ran into the following problem.
If I cut a group of cells from Excel 2008 and try paste it into Numbers it does not work.
I can paste into another place in Excel, Stickies or OpenOffice, but not Numbers.
I can double click a cell in Numbers and paste all the copied into a single cell, but this is not what I want.
Is this a Numbers problem or Excel 2008. Since I can paste from Excel to programs other than Numbers, it seems like a Numbers problem
Anyone else have this problem.

Very weird! I don't think your table is too simple.
I tried a simple table and it failed.
In fact I can copy the table from Numbers and paste it into Excel 2008
But when I copy the same table from Excel and try to paste into Numbers, it fails.
I can however paste into stickies.

Pasting chart into pages from numbers

How come I can't copy/paste charts into pages from numbers anymore? I used to be able to on the last edition now with the new update when I go to paste the chart nothing happens.

If you are using Pages v5 (any version), then you need to be using Numbers 3+ for copy/paste. If you are using Pages ’09 v4.3, you need to be using Numbers v2.3. Mixing versions breaks things.

Numbers - Can't paste hyperlink into written-in cell

Hi,
When trying to paste a website link into a cell with writing in, all other text is deleted from the cell, and only the link remains.
I am already double-clicking on the cell and making sure my cursor appears, so the paste should not be overriding all content as if i just highlighted the cell.
Any helpers out there? This is really annoying, thanks.

I think it's bug of Numbers. As far as I have tested, Numbers erases existing cell contents as reported when pasting hyperlink in clipboard which is represented by data of types public.url and public.url-name. It is the case when link is copied by, e.g., Safari or TextEdit. Meanwhile, link represented by data of type public.html is pasted properly without destroying existing contents. It is the case when link is copied by, e.g., Firefox.
A workaround is to convert link representation in clipboard. You may try running the following AppleScript script before pasting the link in Numbers cell. It is a simple wrapper of RubyCocoa code which converts link representation in clipboard. You may invoke it from script menu when saved as compiled script in ~/Library/Scripts/Applications/Numbers directory or service menu when saved as Automator service in ~/Library/Services directory.
Tested with Numbers 2.0.5 under 10.6.5.

I would like to inform you that not all the browsers and online PDF readers support copying text from a PDF. If you have opened the PDF online, please download PDF file to your computer and then open the file in Adobe Reader.
Please share a screenshot if the issue still persists.

With computer running Windows 7 using the curser can select an item, then right click and select copy. With computer running Windows 8 there is a hand instead of a curser therefore unable to select an item, therefore unable to copy. Is there a way to have a curser rather than the hand?
Eureka!!! Just found by right clicking on the hand can then select “Select Tool” and then copy. Hurray!!!

I am just about giving up! I have upgraded Pages to 0.9 4.3. Now when i copy text from an incoming email and paste it it pastes in as an Object and I can't work on it.

I am just about giving up! I have upgraded Pages to 0.9 (4.3). Now when I copy text from an incoming email and paste it into Pages it pastes in as an Object and I can't work on it. It has a border round it and corner markers. I have never had this problem before. I have looked at every conceivable thing but cannot find how to get rid of this Object and just paste in the wanted text. If I fiddle and fiddle within this text I can eventually get a cursor and work on the text - but how on earth can I get rid of the surrounding box?
I don't know if this is at all clear but I can't think of any other way to describe this - but it looks like this in Pages with corner and top, bottom and side markers.

Peter hello - I have been copying and pasting for as long as I can remember and it has NEVER done this before - so why now!? Anyway, Jerry has told me about Paste and Match Style --- yet another new thing!
I have also discovered that I don''t need to hold down Option when I go to Save to get Save As - I can hold down 4 keys (shift, option, command and S) and it will bring up Save As!!

Yes that is correct.
Will I need to get a mac external hard drive if I wish to continue to save my documents like this?
If you no longer use a PC you could format this drive for the Mac. However be aware that formatting a drive will erase all the data on it. So you would need someplace to copy the data off this drive to while you did the re-format and then you could copy the data back.
You could get another drive, format it for the Mac and copy the data to it. Then re-format the original drive and use it as a backup drive. Always good to have backups.
Post back with the drive type and size of the current drive, if you are doing backups now and how and if you still need to access this drive from a PC.

Text Copied from Illustrator CC 2014.1.0 Pastes as Image

I have seen similar discussions but none of the answers are of any help to me as of today.
Background:
I am running OS X Yosemite 10.10
All my CC apps are up to date as of (11/1/14)
I am also up to date on all other software on my Mac
My goal:
Copy text from illustrator
Paste in Mail, TextEdit, and Notes as live editable text
Results:
Text pastes as pdf or some type of an image depending on the app
What it looks like:
I'll start from the beginning to avoid some questions later.
I open a new document in Illustrator.
These are the clipboard settings in my preferences.
Please Note - I have tried every combination of these settings. Turning them on and off one at a time and in combination does nothing to change the end product. I have turned them all off for this example, so as to not muddy the waters.
I type some text. I did not use a text box in this example. I just clicked on the page with the type tool and typed this line. There are no added attributes. You can see the character settings are the most basic. Again, please note - I have tried using a text box with the same result.
I use the type tool to highlight the text and then copy the text. I did not use the selection tool to select the text and copy.
This is what the clipboard looks like. Note that the contents is "text".
If I type text in PS (as an example) and copy to the clipboard it says "text". However, the text I copy out of PS I can paste anywhere as editable text.
If I type text in Notes and copy to the clipboard it says RTF. This text can also be pasted anywhere as editable text.
This leads me to believe that this is an Illustrator centric problem I am experiencing.
I click into the body of an email and paste. Looks fine, but when I try to click into the text (such as between the words "into" and "Mail") I cannot do it.
The line of words is highlighted and not editable at all.
If I right click on the image of the line of text and highlight "open attachment" you can see the clipboard pasted in as a .pdf and not editable text.
Interestingly, if I open a new note and try to paste the line of text, it also pastes as a .pdf but just the icon show up. Double clicking on the icon will open the text as a pdf in acrobat.
I did not have this issue until CC2014 updates were made. I would like to know if there is something that can be done or is this a bug in Illustrator. If it is a bug I don't want to spend time looking for workarounds. I will use another program when I know there will be a good deal of copy and paste work to be done. It's inconvenient for my older Illustrator files now have this issue when I open them in CC2014.
I know I can use the "paste and match style" but it's a force of habit to use the shortcut for paste. It's also a ridiculous change to Illustrator for the cut/paste to act this way. If it indeed was planned and not a bug, what would the benefit be?
If anyone has insight into the problem I am eager to know what's going on.
Finally, if there is no other way to fix this then can someone remind me how to customize the shortcut key combinations in Mail, Notes and TextEdit? I seem to remember (long ago) being able to customize certain shortcuts in some apps, but I never did it in anything but Adobe apps and even then it was CS5.

I ran into this issue today. I wanted to copy text into an email – however I pasted it it stayed uneditable.
The workaround was to open Text Edit and use the menu item 'paste and match style' (Command+Option+Shift+V) which pastes it as editable text. Then copy and paste that into mail.
What a pain.
If I try 'paste and match style' directly in mail from illustrator it pastes as a flipping pdf.

select the section you want to copy (marquee tool or lasso tool) and either go to edit copy or use control c create a new layer in layers (top menu bar) or Control shift N and paste using control V; or edit > paste.

How come when i copy txt left aligned indesign keeps on pasting the txt right aligned?

I had to use a indesign english-arabic for a while (turned back to english international afterwards). Ever since i did that when i copy txt left aligned indesign keeps on pasting the txt right aligned. it is mind boggling & very annoying. i've put all my prefs back to my regular dutch setting, but even when i past with a paragraph style left aligned it keeps on putting it right aligned... Help.

It should paste with wahtever style is assigned at the insertion point when you paste without formatting... Pasting formatted text is going to bring all the formatting (including what will become local overrides) with it.
Is your text showing the + sign to indicate a local override of the style? If it is you can clear the overrides after pasting.
