Copying Across K8 Ultimate from my MBP to my New Mac Mini

Does anyone know how to copy across a complete K8 Ultimate to a new machine.
We're allowed two intalls I believe and I have it all installed nicely on my MBP laptop.
Just wanna save the pain of reinstalling from scratch.

You really should ask NI, but I don't think you can 'clone' an existing install,  registration is tied to the hardware, so even in the best case scenario you have to register everything anew anyway, and chances are that some things do not quite get installed as they should, etc etc. To avoid all those possible pitfalls for what in the end will be, if anything, a very small advantage, I would simply install "officially" - it may be advantageous to use disk images in stead of DVD's.

  • How can i sync my iTunes library from my iPhone with my new mac mini

Recently my hard drive failed on my mac mini.  I had burned a bunch of CDs on the old mac mini and then sync'd it with my iphone.  Now the CDs are on my iphone but not on the new mac mini.  How can I sync my itunes library from my iphone to my new mac mini?

The iphone is not a backup device.
You need to copy everything from the backup copy of your computer computer to your new one.

  • How do I transfer my pictures from my iMac to my new Mac Mini?

How do I transfer my pictures from my iMac to my new Mac Mini?

Are they in an iPhoto Library? If so:
To move an iPhoto Library to a new machine:
Link the two Macs together: there are several ways to do this: Wireless Network,Firewire Target Disk Mode, Ethernet, or even just copy the Library to an external HD and then on to the new machine...
But however you do choose to link the two machines...
Simply copy the iPhoto Library from the Pictures Folder on the old Machine to the Pictures Folder on the new Machine.
    Then launch iPhoto. That's it.
This moves photos, events, albums, books, keywords, slideshows and everything else.

If you still have the crashed Win computer, you may be able to recover your music and movies from the hard drive. If you have a friend with a hard drive USB connection kit and a PC, they should be able to help.  Otherwise, check locally for computer services that might do that for you (I think Best Buy Geek Squad may be able to help). If the drive itself is in good shape, it shouldn't be too expensive.

  • Clicking noise from the HDD of the new Mac Mini

I just recently purchased a new Mac mini to retire the Macbook pro from my leaving room (it was heating up too much when running Plex). The problem I find is that the new Mini's HDD (toshiba 5400) has a loud clicking noise which on the MBP I can't barely notice. Is anybody else experiencing this?
I would like to understand if this is just a faulty HDD so I can exchange it or if the sound is normal and then I would just return it.
    Thanks in advance

No clicking on my 2010 aluminum model or any of the previous ones that I have had.

  • How Do I transfer Files From My PC to my new Mac mini?

I am saving all my Word documents, music files, picture files on CDs to upload to my new Mac. But, what about things like certain program files, like Adobe, etc., and Mozilla Firefox favorites, passwords, etc.? I expect to get my new Mac mini within 2 weeks, and I want to be as prepared as possible. Help! Also, the operating system listed on my purchase order says Mac OSX Snow Leopard, but there wasn't anything to select that option, so I put Mac OSX (10.6.5) because I assumed that was the most current.
Thanks in advance for your help.
My PC is running Windows XP.

  • Can I install windows 7 using my MBP on my new Mac Mini

I have a MBP that runs both Lion and Windows7 via bootcamp.   I just got a mac mini.  I would love to bootcamp that drive and load windows 7 as well.   But I cheaped out and did not get an external DVD drive.   Can I load Win 7 via my MBP's HD in either Lion or Win 7.   Or can I put the DVD files on a separate HD and have it boot from that (not sure if that is possible)
    OR....
Should I just fork out another $79 for a DVD drive?

Yes you can, you can even have 2 users on the Windows side, his n hers

  • Restoring a time machine backup from an old iMac to new Mac mini

I am considering purchasing a Mac Mini.  I currently have an iMac (2007) model.  I would like to backup/transfer the apps from one to the other.  Is this possible?  I've been using the time machine function which has been backing up my iMac since day one to an external 1 TByte drive. If I can do this, what all info gets backed up?  Will this also restore my e-mails and documents?  I'm new to restoring on a Mac and want to avoid losing apps and having to reload everything piece meal.  I appreciate any advice.
    Patrick C.

Actually, you can transfer just about everything via either Target Disk mode or the Time Machine backup database.  The effect would be the same.  The System Installation procedure will ask you if you want to do that.   Alternatively, you can launch Migration Assistant to do that.   It's remarkably complete, including apps and serial numbers and passwords.  A few things need to be done manually afterwards, of course, but not many.
Keep your iMac around for a few weeks in case something you need turns up later not to have been transferred.
Unrelated Note: DO NOT try to copy the Time Machine database from one drive to another.  The database is composed of non-ordinary files and the procedure will take weeks.

  • I just transferred files from my PC to my new Mac mini.  I had many many folders of photos on my PC with each folder containing pictures from a certain time window or occasion.  is there an easy way maintain this sorting of pictures in iPhoto/Aperature?

i am trying to make heads or tails of my pictures now after the import but there seems to be no organization left at all.
many pictures seem to also have lost (or never had) a date associated with them. so these photos seem to be placed randomly throughout the library.
i'm ready to take on the daunting task of organizing the pictures all over again, but just don't know where to start.
any tips would be appreciated.  realize this is a pretty loaded question.
i also have Aperature on my computer as well using the same library of photos, if that would help manage my photos better.

View Menu -> Sort Photos is a good way to start.
    Some organising possibilities in iPhoto:
I use Events simply as big buckets of Photos: Spring 08, July - Nov 06 are typical Events in my Library. I use keywords and Smart Albums extensively. I title the pics broadly.
    I keyword on a
    Who
    What
Where basis (The When is in the photos's Exif metadata). I also rate the pics on a 1 - 5 star basis.
Using this system I can find pretty much find any pic in my 50k library in a couple of seconds.
So, for example, I have a batch of pics titled 'Seattle 08' and a  typical keywording might include: John, Anne, Landscape, mountain, trees, snow. With a rating included it's so very easy to find the best pics we took at Mount Rainier.
    File -> New Smart Album
    set it to 'All"
    title contains Seattle
    keyword is mountain
    keyword is snow
    rating is 5 stars
Or, want a chronological album of John from birth to today?
    New Smart Album
    Keyword is John
Set the View options to Sort By Date Ascending
    Want only the best pics?
add Rating is greater than 4 stars
The best thing about this system is that it's dynamic. If I add 50 more pics of John  to the Library tomorrow, as I keyword and rate them they are added to the Smart Album.
In the end, organisation is about finding the pics. The point is to make locating that pic or batch of pics findable fast. This system works for me.

  • How do i get apps i purchased from my iPad to my new mac mini

i have been using my iPad and iPhone for a little over a year and have many many apps on both that I can easily update from device to device...I recently added the Mac Mini desk top to my work and want to sync some of the apps plus the info they contain on my desk top but can not figure out how to please help

You can't. iOS apps don't run on a Mac. Some, such as iWork apps, have Mac equivalents with which they can share data.

  • New Mac Mini - How do i reinstall my copy of Mountain LIon from App Store?

    Hi All:
I just bought a new Mac Mini running Mountain Lion. I want to clone an older system drive that had been running Snow Leopard onto my new Mini and then upgrade to Mountain Lion (I tried Migration Assistant first, but it didn't work correctly and I don't want to mess with it again).
My question: once I have a working Snow Leopard install on my Mini, is it possible to upgrade back to the Mountain Lion OS it came with without paying for a new copy? How do I do that?
    Thanks!

It isn't just the hard drive - there is firmware built in that will prevent you from booting wih Snow Leopard. If you do a search here, you'll find many threads trying to install an earlier OS than what the machine came with all with the same answer (unless the Mac was built right around the time of a new OS being introduced, then it is possible to be booted from both OS's). In this case, you'd be trying to go backwards by 2 versions. Also see here:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2186?viewlocale=en_US
And yes, if you use internet recovery and first erase the drive (available in Disk Utility within the recovery partition) and then reinstall the OS, it'll reinstall the OS on a blank drive and you can start over. If the machine is new, then Command + R during restart should automatically boot into internet recovery (connecting you to Apple's servers by showing a spinning globe while connecting); if the machine is a bit older, then Command + Option + R will boot into internet recovery.

  • How do I copy music and video from my iPod to a new PC?

My itunes PC no longer works.  How can I copy music and video from my iPod to a new PC?

You can't transfer music from an iPod to a PC.  Apple do not provide that facility.  It can be done with third party software though.  There are a variety of these available though so search google for 'ipod to itunes'.

  • I was able to copy all my files from my Time Capsule, but that is all they are...files. How do I get my new Mac Mini to emulate my other Mac?

I was able to copy all my files from my Time Capsule, but that is all they are...files. How do I get my new Mac Mini to emulate my other Mac?

    Doggiemommie,
Copying files is not a good idea.
The "other Mac" was backed up onto Time Capsule using the Time Machine. On your new Mac you should restore the old user - rather than copy files manually.
This usually happens during the initial setup of the new computer or you can do it later using Migration Assistant.
Please note, it is possible to damage backup file on the Time Capsule when you browse it and copy files manually.
    Hope this explains.
