Copying Attributes ...

Hello All,
Sorry for such a basic question but I can't see the wood for the trees, so to speak ...
I've got a movement plotted out in FCP using keyframes and I really don't fancy re-inputting all the info each
time I want to use it. I can find 'remove attributes' but for the life of me, I can seem to find 'copy attributes'.
The computer isn't connected to the net so the online help files are not available.
I would be very grateful if someone could point me in the right direction ... assuming 'copying attributes' is possible.
Thanks for your time and expertise.

I figured he saw PASTE ATTRIBUTES. But I was just in the mood for half an answer.

  • Is there a way to copy attributes from one composition to another?

    I'm using After Effects 7.0
    I'd like to copy the same Zoom attributes from one composition to 30 photographs.
    In Final Cut, you can copy attributes from one clip to another. Or from one still photo to another.
    Is there a way to do that in AE 7?
    Thanx
    Mike

    EDIT: I see you edited your question, so I am editing my reply.
    To copy the scale of a layer, open the main twirl of that layer and you'll see the Transform properties group. Open the twirl for that, and you'll see Anchor Point, Position, Scale, etc. Click on "Scale" and copy it (Edit > Copy, or Control+C on Windows/Command+C on Mac). Then select the other layers and just paste (Edit > Paste, or Control+C on Win/Command+V on Mac).
    Such a broad question
    Anytime you add a new item you imported to the timeline or composition panels, it becomes a new layer.
    Anytime you duplicate an existing layer (Edit > Duplicate), you get a new layer.
    Anytime you split a layer (Edit > Split) you get a new layer.
    Anytime you copy a whole layer (target the name in the timeline panel) and paste it, you get a new layer.
    You also create layers when you use the Shape tools, text tools, or create a new solid layer, etc.
    This list could go on and on, so instead, I invite you to read the After Effects Help section on Creating layers specifically, and the whole chapter on Layers and properties, in general. If anything isn't clear for you, then let us know.

  • Creating VO Dynamically and Copying Attributes

    Hi anyone,
    I've developed a SimpleSearch with LOVs that result in a multi-selection list.
    Once the rows are selected, I want to carry them over and display on the next page.
    I'm trying to keep it very simple, using OAFramework wizards an such but I'm struggling to get this accomplished, mostly due to lack of JAVA experience.
    I was trying to follow the advice from "How to show selected rows only in tablebean" but I don't know how to create a VO dynamically and am new to JAVA (which is why I tried to keep it simple).
    What I need help with desperately is:
    1) The correct syntax/code for creating a simple VO dynamically - examples in the OA Dev guide are hard to follow.
    2) Correct syntax/code for copying attributes using setAttribute().
    3) Does this new VO appear under the BC4J Components directory? If not, how do I attach it to the table's columns?
    4) Anything else I should include or watch out for?
    Thanks very much.

    Hi Ramkumar,
    I did create a VO declaratively before but am stuck on syntax again in the AMImpl.
    I'm getting the error: oracle.jbo.TooManyObjectsException: JBO-25013: Too many objects match the primary key oracle.jbo.Key[10006 ].
    Could you look at my code and see what is missing?
    public void SelectItemInstance( )
    CustibSummaryVOImpl vo = getCustibSummaryVO1();
    CustibChangeVOImpl dvo = getCustibChangeVO1();
    Row[] sourceRows = vo.getFilteredRows("SelectFlag", "Y");
    // getFilteredRows returns a zero-length array if it finds no matches.
    if (sourceRows != null && sourceRows.length > 0)
    int numRows = sourceRows.length;
    for (int i = 0; i < numRows; i++)
    // For every row with a selected checkbox, we want call
    // the create( ) and insert()wrapper.
    Row newRow = dvo.createRow();
    newRow.setAttribute("ItemInstance", sourceRows.getAttribute("ItemInstance"));
    newRow.setAttribute("Item",sourceRows[i].getAttribute("Item"));
    newRow.setAttribute("TagNumber",sourceRows[i].getAttribute("TagNumber"));
    newRow.setAttribute("Client",sourceRows[i].getAttribute("Client"));
    newRow.setAttribute("Resp",sourceRows[i].getAttribute("Resp"));
    newRow.setAttribute("Service",sourceRows[i].getAttribute("Service"));
    newRow.setAttribute("Project",sourceRows[i].getAttribute("Project"));
    newRow.setAttribute("TCAAccount",sourceRows[i].getAttribute("TCAAccount"));
    newRow.setAttribute("OrderId",sourceRows[i].getAttribute("OrderId"));
    newRow.setAttribute("PartyId",sourceRows[i].getAttribute("PartyId"));
    newRow.setAttribute("AccountId",sourceRows[i].getAttribute("AccountId"));
    dvo.insertRow(newRow);
    } // end selectItemInstance()
    Thanks ever so much.

  • Copying attribute values in xsl transformation

    Hi
    Does anyone know how to copy attribute values in a transfomation generated in a routing rule of a ESB routing service.
    When I inspect the generated xsl (after mapping elements), I can see that the xsl:value-of is used and therefore the element attributes of the original message are lost.
    Specifically when an element contains the xsi:nil attribute, I want to copy it to the target message.
    Suggestions would be greatly appreciated,
    Ruud

    Hi Nathalie,
    Thanks for your reply.
    I would like to elaborate a bit on our problem because I feel that we haven't reached a satisfactory solution yet.
    We are using ESB database adapters to perform DML operations on the database. However we expose these adapters using routing services to allow us to use filters, content based routing etc.
    Consider this example:
    I want to perform an update on a row in the database. If my soap call contains an empty element, this element will be ignored. If I want this the corresponding attribute in the database set to NULL then I have to add the xsi:nill="true" attribute to the element in my message. This works great when invoking the database adapter directly but when you place a routing service in front of it, the transformation will wipe out the xsi:nill="true" attribute on the element causing the database adapter to ignore the element instead of updating to NULL.
    We have found two workarounds:
    detectommissions="false" setting in the wsdl of the database adapter. All empty elements in the message will cause an update to NULL in the database. This means that for every update you always have to have all values in your message to prevent unwanted updates to NULL.
    Add a choose / when / otherwise construction in the transformation of the routing service. If the source element is empty we add an empty element in the destination message containing an xsi:nill="true" attribute, otherwise we just copy the value.
    This construction should be added for each attribute that must be updateable to null.
    Both of these solutions are not satisfactory because they eliminate the choice whether an empty element in the invoking soap call should be ignored or used to trigger an update to null.
    We would like to be able to detect the xsi:nill="attribute" on the invoking call and propagate this attribute to the call to the database adapter.
    Kind regards,
    Ruud

  • How to Copy Attributes from CC to CS6

    How do I copy attributes, such as polygons and hyperlinks from an .ai document created in CC to CS6? This is a reverse compatibility question.

    Got it. Thanks.

    You have to hit save before the dialog box pops up.

  • Copying attributes of object/text using shortcut keys!

    Hello!
    I want to copy attributes of one paragraph to another using shortcut keys. Is it possible in InDesign CS3 version? If yes where it is?
    I know Mx Freehand can do it.

    Define a paragraph style using the formatting you want (just highlight some text and define the paragraph style from the panel -- it will pick up the attributes). You can assign a keyboard shortcut as part of the style definition.
    That isn't 100% keyboard, at least to start, but it's how ID works. Styles are extremely powerful. Edit the style and all text using the style changes instantly. Base one style on another, edit the base style, and the based-on text will change attributes not overridden in the based-on style.

  • Copying attributes to subtitles

    I want to put the same blue background on all of my lower thirds. Is there a way to create the background in the controls tab of one clip and then copy it to all the other clips? thanks!

    I'n not sure if I understand you correctly...
    But you cannot copy 1 control of 1 filter to other clips.
    The copying attributes only applies to all filters from the source to the destination.
    You could do as described in other posts, but you might try to export your sequence as XML. (File > Export > XML)
    Then open it with a text editor. Find the right instance of the background control. Do some smart replacing in the text. And save
    Import the adjusted XML in FCP (File > Import > XML.
    There's even subtitle software to do this for you (and more)
    Google for that
    Just a thought.

  • 3D layers: copy attributes or replace from file

    Sorry I can't figure this out, but it happens to me often:
    I create a 3D model in Cheetah3D, bring it into Photoshop CS5 Extended using 3D/New Layer From 3D File...
    I size, orient it, get the lights just right, get the camera perfect, then realize I need to make a change to the model.
    I make the change, and then I can not find a way to replace the model, but keep all the attributes I worked so hard to tweak.
    Is there a way to replace a model? or alternatively, is there a way to copy all attributes from one 3D layer to another?
    Thanks, Sheldon.

    Hi Steve,
    I've been exporting from Cheetah3D as .3ds, but have also tried .obj, and some others.
    I've tried the 'merge' function, but afaik, you can't make the positioning the same this way...
    I think I've got it figured out: - Basically you can save camera's position/orientation, object's position/orientation and lights' position/orientation - but those saved properties are only usable within the 3D layer from which they were created. I wanted to be able to used them in other 3D layers but couldn't. What I failed to notice is that the orientation/position information of any 3D is available in any other 3D layer in the drop down list and is titled with the other 3D layer's name. This was lost on me for months because every time I experimented with this, the original 3D layer and the new 3D layer always had the same name, and I didn't make the connection one was referring to the other (same name)! This may read like gobbledy-goop but if anyone ever has the same problem as me, the answer is in there. --Shift Studio.

  • Copying attribute values in OIM

    Hi Experts,
       Please suggest me the solution for below requirement.
    1. I am having the original attributes "Cost center name " and Cost center Number".But i have to copy these values and stored into attributes "old cost center name" and "Old cost center number"
    once its done,giving new values in cost center name and cost center number has to store the new values.
    Thanks in advance.
    Reddy.

    HI Redyy,
    You can write java code which will copy the original values to the new variable and after that you can assign new value to the original variable.
    Thanks,

  • Can't apply default transitions or copy attributes

    I have no means of getting Premiere to apply default transitions.
    I select clips, try via Sequence menu, nada
    I place the cursor on the timeline Ctrl-D, nothing happens
    I copy a clip and paste attributes - NOTHING. No change at all.
    Could there be any setting I didn't set? Default transitions are set, and I can copy/paste audio attributes/clip effects, but nothing happens in Video.

    Select clip and then go to select Sequence / Apply Default Transition To Selection (you can make this into a Keyboard Shortcut) this will make a transition at beginning and end of the clip at the same time. If you only want just one side, select the side with the Roll Edit or Ripple Trim tool and hit Apply Default Transition To Selection.
    If you want to put a cross dissolve between a whole bunch of clips. Select clip and hit Apply Default Transition to Selection.

  • Copying attributes has strange result

    I am working with dvmatte pro...
    I have the main video on V2 and the background GIF file on V1.
    V2 has multiple clips of the same subject... (just different I/O points)
    V1 has the GIF that spans multiple clips on V2.
    On the first V2 Clip, I manipulate all the dials and switches to make the matte look great.
    When I go to copy the filter attributes to the other clips on the timeline, the background goes away on the final composite. It is now just my V2 subject (with the correct filter attributes) on a black background. The first clip still has the correct composite, the other clips where I pasted the attributes do not.
    did I do something wrong?
    TIA
    -Steven

    Hi D...
    I figured it out... and it wasn't the file format... even though it isn't listed, I am able to import and use a GIF file.
    What I figured out was that when I paste the filter attributes to a new clip... in fact it copies all the filters to the new clip... so, if I already have the filter dvmatte pro applied, FCP creates another copy of that filter. So, now there are two instances of the filter dvmatte pro on the new clip.
    When I copied the filter attributes to a clip with no filters, it worked perfectly.
    thanks for the input...
    -Steven

  • How to copy attributes (as in which playlists) from one song to another

    Hi,
    Does anyone know how to copy the characteristics of a song--as in which playlists it appears in--from one song to another, so that the new song then appears on all those same playlists also? Or, if not, maybe you have some other idea for me:
    I'm working with a Mac. I have several hundred playlists with ~100 songs each, and about 3,500 songs in my iTunes. Most of these songs are currently AACs. I've realized I have a problem: If I want to burn disks with MP3-format songs, I will need to convert the AAC to MP3s to burn them. If I don't want to have thousands of duplicate songs, I will need to trash the AAC versions of those songs from my library. If I do that, they will disappear from the playlists they are currently in (one song might be in 20 different lists). If I had to manually take each MP3 version created, look at which playlists the original AAC version is in, drag the MP3 version to each playlist, and delete the AAC version, it would take a Looooong time. Does anyone know of any shortcuts? For example, is there some way to copy the information about which playlists a given song is in and then paste that info onto the new version so it now appears also in these playlists? Or some other idea? Thanks very much!
    Molly

    Never heard of any way of doing that. However, you may want to check out Doug's Scripts. There might be something there to help.

  • Copy and paste without font & size attributes

    isn't there a way to copy and paste text so that it takes the attributes of the recipient app instead of the "copied" attributes? ie: I want a copied 12pt Times Word sentence to appear as the defined Filemaker field font/size when pasted into Filemaker.

    isn't there a way to copy and paste text so that it takes the attributes of the recipient appThis is down to the "recipient app" to implement. For example, TextEdit has "Paste and Match Style" which does what you want. Microsoft Word has "Paste Special …" with various options. I don't know Filemaker, so don't know what is on the "Edit" menu.

  • Copy text attributes using shortcut in ID CS 4!

    Hi!
    I want to copy text attributes using shortcut keys. Is it possible? It is possible in MX Freehand.
    Here, I want to copy attribute (Magenta colour) and apply to another word (Magenta colour).
    Thanks.

    You use the Eyedropper too for this. The shortcut is i, unmodified, so you can’t call it while editing text. But you can click on the tool. You then click once to load the eyedropper with the desired formatting, then click wherever you want it applied. Click and Drag, like selecting text, to apply formatting to a word or words. I have not tried editing the shortcut so it can be called while editing text, but you can try. Go to Edit > Keyboard Shortcuts, and go to Tool under Product Area.
