Copying Bookmarks?

Hi!
Is it possible to transfer all my current safari bookmarks onto mozilla firefox AND that any keychain items, like passwords and login names, would copy across too or am I hoping too much?
Firefox is just nicer to look at and use than safari (in my humble opinion)
cheers

Hi Josh,
To import Bookmarks into Fire Fox do the following ...
Open Fire Fox, go to Menu>Import.
Good luck ...

Export them to an HTML file, then import the HTML file to the other computer, that will add the bookmarks to those that already exist.

Firefox 2 versions use the file bookmarks.html to store the bookmarks.

  • How do I copy bookmarks to a letter in MS Word or Abiword?

I am writing a document in Abiword. There are about 35 bookmarks in a Firefox bookmark folder that I would like to include in the document. Copy and Paste does not work, and I cannot figure out how to get it out of the HTML backup. How do I get the bookmarks to a Windows folder???
I have an ASUS UL30A laptop, with Windows 7 Home Premium, 64 bit, using Firefox 5 (Love It!!!).
Please help. I just want to copy the Firefox hyperlinks to a folder. Why so hard? Anyway, thanks in advance.

You can do a Copy & Paste in the Bookmarks Manager (Shift+Ctrl+B) to create a copy of a bookmark.<br />
You can also drag the website's favicon on the left end of the location bar to a folder into the Bookmarks menu drop down list or to a folder in the Bookmarks side bar (Ctrl+B) or onto the Bookmarks Toolbar.<br />
In the side bar you need to click to the left of the icon to prevent Firefox from opening the bookmark.<br />

  • Copying bookmarks and quotations

I'm writing a paper based on a ebook that I downloaded in PDF format.  I'm using bookmarks to take notes, and I need to get my bookmarks into a text document somehow.  I can't see any way to copy or export bookmarks.  Any ideas?  Also, I will need to quote from the book.  When I try to copy a sentence, it sometimes works, but other times I get an error saying 'Permissions set by the publisher of this item restrict copying."  What does this mean?  Is there anyway to find out exactly what the restrictions are?

    Welcome to Apple's discussion groups.
    Your bookmarks are in <yourhomefolder>/Library/Safari/Bookmarks.plist.
If your pictures are in iPhoto, they'll be in <yourhomefolder>/Pictures/iPhoto Library. That's a "package", not a normal folder.

  • When I click a backup date to restore bookmarks from backup, get error message "unable to process the backup file". unable to successfully copy bookmarks from default profile to new profile, nor access the backup function successfully. any suggestions?

I had trouble with WiseStamp and was advised to create a new profile. I did and the WiseStamp issue was resolved. However, I now have no bookmarks on the new profile. I copied the places. file from the old profile to the new one, but with no success. The bookmarks do exist on the old profile. I like having WiseStamp working, but need those multitude of bookmarks more! Any advice greatly appreciated. :)

Did you try to restore from another JSON backup?
You can try to move places.sqlite to another location and only leave that backup file in the bookmarkbackups folder.
    See:

  • How can I copy bookmarks from winxp laptop to win7 laptop w/firfox already on it?

no details. just need to move/copy extensive bookmarks from old laptop to new laptop.

The ''places.sqlite'' file in the profile folder stores both history and bookmarks. You can replace the current file with the one from the other computer if you want to restore the old set of bookmarks and history (doing so will of course replace the current set).
    * [[Profiles - Where Firefox stores your bookmarks, passwords and other user data]]
If you only want to replace your bookmarks and leave history unaffected, see
    * [[Restore bookmarks from backup or move them to another computer]]
If you'd rather add old bookmarks to the existing set and leave current bookmarks unaffected, see the following articles.

  • Can I copy bookmark titles and web addresses to a document file?

I would like to copy my current bookmarks to a Word document. If I highlight>right-click>copy then try to paste into a blank page, the only information that appears is the bookmark title. I also need the URL selected, but the copy/paste function does not work.

I would suggest that you use Mozbackup to backup your entire profile instead of trying to convert a bunch of emails into a Word document. Then if something bad happens you just install Thunderbird on the new computer and restore the backup. Then you have your address books and emails.

  • How to undo Safari copying bookmarks, history, favorites, and reading list from Macbook Pro to iMac after Yosemite update?

I just updated my iMac 27inch Mid 2011 to Yosemite 10.10.2.  I have a Macbook Pro that I primarily use for everyday stuff. I upgraded to Yosemite a while ago on my macbook. Now that I upgraded my iMac, it transferred everything saved in Safari on my macbook pro to my iMac. My favorites, history, bookmarks, and reading list were copied over. This is driving me nuts! I had a separate set of data saved on the iMac because I use it for different purposes. All of the original bookmarks, favorites, history, etc. on my iMac are now gone. I logged out of iCloud (which was a feature I did not enjoy when upgrading to Yosemite) yet all of the safari data from my laptop is still cloned onto my iMac. Please tell me there is a way to undo this or refresh safari pre-Yosemite update!
    Thank you!

Then there's no way to recover the lost data. You will lose every bit of data you have if you don't start backing up.

  • Is it possible to copy bookmark text between PDF's please?

Hello - am new to Acrobat so hope this is not a really dumb question. I am working on a series of Powerpoint documents which I then convert to PDf's. The cli
ent wants these bookmarked by section. (170 slides all individually labelled by content so they can go straight to different sections))  These documents are then updated monthly and I wondered if there was a way I could save or copy the bookmarks text that I have created to save typing it all in again every time I create a new PDF? Thanks in anticipation.

In the old document with the bookmarks use the menu Document > Replace Pages...
