when trying to burn a cd from i-tune the box that said purchased from i-tune would not unclick.does this mean i can not burn a cd or anything that is not bought from apple?

Your post is somewhat vague as to what's going on. Are you trying to burn strictly purchased content to CD? What settings are you using to burn? Have you made a playlist of the songs you wish to burn? I'm frankly not sure what you mean by "the box that said purchased from iTune would not unclick".

Let me get this straight. You didn't transfer the contents from your old PC to the new one? When you say "download" this implies you are getting it off the net, i.e. re-downloading the purchases from iTunes. When you sync with a device the sync is one way; the device gets synced to the computer and gets updated according to the content on the computer (which in this case did not include the other content you did not put on from a backup). What I think is the situation now is all your CD music is now gone and you will have to rip them again.

Correct. When you update via iTunes all synced media that is not in your iTunes library will be lost.

You would have to let itunes rip the songs from the cd's, or you would have to copy the music from the computer which ripped cd's.
iTunes does not support transferring music from the ipod unless it was purchased from the store.

Is your computer authorized with the same account that you use to buy the muisc in iTunes?

Did you try to transfer your music by right clicking on your ipod in the device list and choosing "transfer purchases"?
Did you ever sync your ipod to your computer?

Unfortunately, redownloading of past music purchases isa still in beta test and only available in the US right now.

Your options are kinda limited. I would use this first:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and ...
Then check here for the non-purchased items:

You want to rebuild the library first, then sync the ipod.

When songs cannot be found, it's either because they have been moved from the original location that you told iTunes, renamed or deleted.
So have you:
renamed songs?
moved them to a different loaction on your computer since you imported them into itunes?
deleted them since you imported them?
stored you iTunes library on an external drive? If so, that drive needs to be on and ready every time before you start iTunes.
... or is another programme renaming or even moving them, such as Windows Media Player? (It has been known to if you let it.) Did you previously use Windows Media Player?
