Copying Chart of accounts clients

Hi all,
Can somebody tell me how to copy a chart of account and the associated G/L accounts from one client to another? Please help me in this regards.
Please remember it is copying of chart of accounts across different clients and not company codes.
I will award points generously.
Thank you
Sony

The normal procedure as chart of account is  part of the configuration you can create a transport to export just the shell of chart of account. It is not advisable to copy the Gl accounts associated with the chart of accounts as the gl accounts are in three different tables, SKA1, SKB1 and SKAT. You need to transport all the three table individually. There could some compay code specific which may not be copied when you copy the gl accounts. So it is advisable to create the gl accounts in the new client freshly. Other wise you create transports by going to se16 or sm30 for those tables.

  • Copy G/L accounts Questions???

    Hello,
I have created new company code (without copying Just New Entries), chart of accounts 4040 for Canada. There is no G/L accounts yet in charts of accounts or company code accounts.
One can copy G/L accounts from either charts of accounts or company code from SPRO/Financial Ac counting/General Ledger Actg/Master Data/G/L Act Creation & Preparation/Alternative Methids/copy chart of accounts  or copy company code accounts
I have chart of accounts standard CACA. Inn Global settings they have CACA chart of accounts & country charts of accounts as CAUS This have controlling area 2000 North America. I had earlier problems in G/L accounts while doing Billing etc. when I copied 4001 from CACA charts of accounts. In my Global sttings I have on chart of accounts assigned 4040. No country charts of accounts is yet assigned.
Q=Should I assign country charts of accounts 4040? Or no need.
Q=2 How to copy G/L accounts. If I copy from CACA charts of accounts then country charts of accounts CAUS will disturb settings? Should I cpy from CACA or go for copying comapny code 0001 & change currency? or copy from company code 1000.
Q=3 Please also advise the final impact to safeguard sales & billing process.
Your valued opinion is highly appreciated.

    Hi, Rajiv:
question1: Whether to assign country CoA depends on your requirement, you can refer to the definition of country CoA in SAP:
+___Chart of Accounts According to Country Legislation___+
+___The country chart of accounts represents the account structure prescribed under national regulations.___+
    +___Use___+
+___The usage is optional and only necessary where the chart of accounts you are using is not allowed under national regulations.___+
    +___Examples___+
+___You might want to use a standard chart of accounts worldwide. However, the usage of another chart of accounts is required by law in some company codes. By using the Alternative account number, the connection between the account in the worldwide standard chart of accounts and the account in the country chart of accounts can be set up.___+
+___The essential programs in General Ledger can output either the unique worldwide number or the country-specific number and the corresponding text.___+
question2: Normally, We copy SAP standard deliveried company code, like 0001, to create our own. At the same time, standard chart of account is assigned to your own company code.
An alternative way is OB_GLACC01 Create G/L Accounts with Reference, which you can use for your new created company code from scratch.
question3: To enable order2cash scenario in your new company code, some customizing, like setting up sales area, should be done additionally.  For any specific issue if you met during order2cash, I think you can share in forum for further discussion.
    Hope it will help.

  • Solution for copying individual chart of account segements betw. clients

    Hi all,
I'm facing the problem, that we we have three clients setup on one system. Within the leading new group chart accounts have been added which also need to be added in the other two clients.
Is there anything like ABAP programs RFBISA10 and -20 which can support me in doing so. To prevent unclarity:
The respective accounts only exist in chart of accounts segment and i don't want to copy the whole chart of accounts via IMG.
Thanks in advance for your effort.
    Best regards.
    Johannes

This was an overly-long post with a lot of irrelevant details and lacking some of the important ones. So I am inferring the following:
    • You are connecting to your mail server via POP
    • You are leaving Mail running on the machine at the office
    • You have the machine at the office set to delete mail from the server
    • At the shop, Mail is set to leave mail on the server
If any of this is incorrect, please correct me.
Now, there are several easy solutions. The easiest, if your mail server supports it, is to switch from a POP connection to IMAP. POP was designed around downloading mail from the server one time and deleting it from the server, leaving you with only a local copy. IMAP is designed to leave mail on the server and synchronize local mailboxes with the server. So with IMAP, you could have exactly the same mail in the mailboxes on both machines. Of course, that means the mail takes up space on the server, which could eventually fill your allocated space and prevent you from receiving further e-mail, which means you've got to be aware of the limits imposed by your server and manage your e-mail accordingly.
If your server doesn't do IMAP, then you can still use POP... you just need to leave it set as is and make sure that you quit Mail on the office machine. You'll be able to download new mails from the shop, and since the shop machine is leaving mail on the server, you'll still be able to download them on the office machine later so you have all your e-mails in one location.

    hi geeta,
ClientA Client is the highest unit within an SAP system and contains Master records and Tables. Data entered at this level are valid for all company code data and organizational structures allowing for data consistency. User access and authorizations are assigned to each client created. Users must specify which client they are working in at the point of logon to the SAP system.
A CompanyA Company is the unit to which your financial statements are created and can have one to many company codes assigned to it. A company is equivalent to your legal business organization. Consolidated financial statements are based on the companyu2019s financial statements. Companies are defined in configuration and assigned to company codes. Each company code must use the same COA( Chart of Accounts) and Fiscal Year. Also note that local currency for the company can be different.
Company CodesCompany Codes are the smallest unit within your organizational structure and is used for internal and external reporting purposes. Company Codes are not optional within SAP and are required to be defined. Financial transactions are viewed at the company code level. Company Codes can be created for any business organization whether national or international. It is recommended that once a Company Code has been defined in Configuration with all the required settings then other company codes later created should be copied from the existing company code. You can then make changes as needed. This reduces repetitive input of information that does not change from company code to company code as well as eliminate the possibility of missed data input.
Business Area Business Area is optional and is equivalent to a specific area of responsibility within your company or business segment. BA (Business Area) also allows for internal and external reporting.
Another configuration requirement for set-up in SAP are the Basic settings consisting of the following:
    Chart of Accounts(COA)
    Fiscal Year Variants.
    Currencies
    The COA(Chart of Accounts)
The COA(Chart of Accounts) lists all General Ledger accounts that are used by the organization. It is assigned in configuration to each company code and allows for daily General Ledger postings.
    Fiscal Year configuration
Fiscal Year configuration is a must and can be defined to meet your companyu2019s reporting periods whether Fiscal (any period combination that is not calendar) or Calendar( Jan-Dec).
Posting Periods are defined and assigned to the Fiscal Year.
Within the periods you specify start dates and finished dates.
SAP allows for 12 posting periods along with specially defined periods that can be used for year-end financial closing.

  • Copy G/L accounts' Master data between company in diferent System's client

    Dear All,
I am having two seperate system for developement and production.
Now I want to copy G/L accounts from production system to developement system.
I am trying this by FS15 but it creates output file in same system (machine) i.e. /usr/sap/DEV/SYS/global/FBISCL
While trying to import using FS16 it seeks output file in /usr/sap/SVP/SYS/global/FBISCL
Once, I am doing on same system and different client it is ok.
Please let me know any solution to transport between the systems. OR export output file on workstation and again import from workstation.
    Regards
    Dharmendra

    Dear,
As you said you can transfer using FS15 and FS16, remember if the company code is in the same client then there is no necessary to create a file if the company code resides in another client as you said.
Then create a file in FS15 and the system will display the path where it saved the file, take that file name and give in FS16.
This way you can export and import your GL accounts between clients.

  • Copy financial statement version with different chart of accounts

    Hi all,
it is possible to copy financial statement version with different chart of accounts? If I copy the financial statement version, the Financial statement items are assign from the chart of accounts which were in the original financial statement version.
But I need to change the chart of accounts and accounts assignment as well. Is this somehow possible?
    Thanks
    Miroslav

    Hi,
It does not make much sense, as FSV is based on chart of accounts. You will have to build your FSV from the scratch.

  • Client level, chart of accounts level, company code level

Generally what are the areas under client level, chart of accounts level, company code level.
For Ex. document types are client level, number range company code level
like the above does we have any list which is falling in the above levels.

    1. Generally during customising when co code data is not asked , then settings are client level.
Country, Currency, Document types, all variants of diff types, chart of accounts, etc
    2. Every master is having data - General data level (client level) for use by all co codes, Co code data level(basically for accounting purposes) and so on.
These are applicable to GL, Vendor, Customer, Asset, Matlerials, etc
For particular application we have more information at another object level also- Vendor- Purchasing, Customer-Sales, materials-Plant- controlling, etc
    3. Chart of accounts level assignments are done for all automatic posting definitions-which is applicable to all company codes which are using same chart of accounts.
    4. In material setting- valuation can be grouping level, co code level or plant level as these are related to costing and product costing.
Hope the above will give some idea.
In the above nothing is written about CO as you have not asked-

  • EC-CS Chart of accounts (OCOA, GCOA, CCOA).

    Hello Guys,
My client is using EC-CS with ECC6 and wants to apply the following logic:
    - Assign the transaction COA to a Group chart of accounts (transcation OB13, the purpose of this is to maintain the link between OCOA and GCOA into FI-GL),
    - Copy FS Items and item hierachy from the transaction accounts and Financial statement version,
    - define the GCOA as being a subitem assignment.
In other words I want to apply the following solution:
    FI-GL                EC-CS
    OCOA     =>       CCOA
         I
    GCOA     =>       Subitem
Is this solution possible? I have the feeling that when the transaction COA is linked to the GCOA the FS item must be linked to the GCOA? Is yes, based on your experience do you have any solution for me?
Thank you in advance for your help,
    Best regards
    Pascal.

  • Change of Chart of Accounts

    Hi SAP Experts
I hereby would like to know what the posibility is to change a company Chart of Accounts.
The company was linked to a Chart of Accounts and operated for couple of months (year).  As this Chart of Accounts are also assigned to other company codes, the said company wants it own (new) Chart of Accounts.
Is it possible for a company that was operative to change its Chart of Accounts?
    Theo

    Hi,
We cannot change simply the Chart of Accounts. There is mandatory process to follow.
If you are trying to change system will prompt you error message, reset the transactionl data.
    1. Create a seperate Client with the help of Basis People
    2. Copy the Transactional Data in separate client.
    3. Now reset the data in Original Client
    4. Now change the COA.
    5. Now copy/migrate  the Transactional Data to Old Client.
Note: Before resetting the data, actual Transactional Data should be copied in to another client without loosing your Business Data.
    Thanks

  • What is the best practice to create Chart of Accounts

    Hi Everyone,
I am new to SAP FI/CO. My question is...which is the best to create chart of accounts? Is it by copying from standard SAP Chart of Accounts (like CAUS) or to create from scratch. Please explain me the reason too.
    Thanks in advance,
    Sandeep

    Hi,
Adding on to the comments made by people, Chart of accounts creation process depends entirely on the requirement of the client's business. Going on with my experience I would suggest first to study the existing chart of accounts from the legacy system of client. Have a discussion on it with FI business process owners regarding removal of some redundant accounts, addition of some new accounts and specifically examine each and every account with in digfferent account groups.
Many a time it happens that people get an GL account created but they seldom use it. The job of a good consultant is to identify such anamolies and get it corrected. I am mentioning below some of the standard ways of creating a chart of accounts and you can use one of the way depending upon your convenience and requirement.
You have various options for creating G/L account master records in the system:
Using a reference- You can copy G/L account master records from an existing company code and then change them.
Use this procedure if you want to use a chart of accounts included in the standard system or if you want to use an existing chart of accounts as a reference. The advantage of using a reference is that the account assignment is also copied. This ensures the integration of General Ledger Accounting with other application components.
Data Transfer Workbench- You can copy G/L account master records from an external system and then change them.Use this method if you have your G/L accounts in a non-SAP system and want to transfer them to your SAP System.
Copy G/L accounts- You can copy G/L account master records by copying a chart of accounts and then the company code. You should only use this method if there is a chart of accounts in your system that exactly meets your requirements. If you need to make changes to the chart of accounts, your should complete this using a reference method.
Create manually- You can create G/L accounts master records by manually creating each individual G/L account. The method is quite time consuming. You should only use it if you are certain that the standard SAP System nor any other system contains a chart of accounts which you could use as a reference.
Hope this helps you. Let me know if you need any other information.

  • Account Assignment to asset class is it Chart of account dependent or Depr.

    Hi All,
We are making a rollout for one of our client. the role out is for indian Company the parent comapny is German based.
I have created the same asset class for Indian Company code as same as Germany Company code and assigned GL accounts for those classes. Some of GL accounts are different because of which the problem has areised. while making a posting in the asset accounts in German company Code its giving the error saying that GL accounts is not correct.
What will be the best way to deal with this Issue.
    Thanks in Advance.
    Regards,
    Raj

    Hi,
If you have two company codes in two diff countries, and best practises method would be to create 2 chart of depreciations, one for each CC.
Because the income tax regulations for each countrhy may vary. So that copy the german COD to a new COD for indina company code.
So that this new COD can be used for any other company codes in india, if there are any.
Make the account assignments accordingly at AO90, since account allocations would store at each chart of depreciation and chart of account level only.
    Thanks,
    Srinu

In my new rollout system, i need a chart of account. these data is existing in the other system, i want to import it from there, other then input one by one manually. can anyone tell me how can i do that?
can anyone help me to solve it?
    Any responses will be awarded.
    Thanks a lot!

Use T Code FS15 in the old client/company code and give a file  ex 1234.
Note the file and path generated from the message.
Advise your basis team to copy the file in the same path of the required client.
After copying use t code fs16 and generate the GL accounts through Batch input session.
All the GL accounts will be copied in your new server.
