Copying crop malfunction

Lightroom for Windows on Vista, latest version
I just finished working on a whole slue of RAW images, framed my crops as I wanted them. I've honed my workflow as follows:
Tweak RAW and crops, then reset crop, export as tiff, then I usually go back one step and copy the crop (un-check all, then check crop)and paste it into my tiff. What's weird is that it has worked fine until now, and even worked on a few images of this session.
The issue, when I copy the crop, sometimes it copies it "different".
Two examples, the first, simplest, my RAW files are 4x6 ratio SOOC, I croped it to 5x7 and left it as is (so it just stayed centered) when I copy and then paste this to the tiff file (which is theoretically of equal size as I didn't check the resize window in the export...) it copies it slightly smaller??
Example 2, I have a portrait image that I have cropped into landscape and when I copy the RAW crop setting (only) to the tiff file (again, which is the same pixel size theoretically) it pastes it MUCH smaller and in PORTRAIT orientation?!??
WHAT am I doing wrong? if anything. It's costing me VALUABLE time as I have to manually shimmy the crops so they match.. Not something that happens EVERY time, but some times.
Any ideas? Need more info? screen shots?

Cropping virtual copy crops original image

In LR 4, I have created a virtual copy for the purpose of cropping, but when I crop it in Develop, the original image is getting cropped as well. Have I misunderstood something?

Copy crop attributes to a keyframe

Is there a way to paste the copy attributes to a keyframe? I want to copy the crop window from one keyframe to a keyframe of another clip so they match. Whenever I paste the attributes they always seem to apply to the whole clip.

Copy the keyframe itself by selecting and Edit->Keyframes->Copy
and paste with Edit-Keyframes->Paste.
(this is a new feature in 10.1)

Copy / Paste malfunctioning in Cp5 for Windows

Hi,
I have a situation of creating eCourses that involve a lot of standardized wording. I often want to copy and paste text from a previous slide into a later slide (or page - whatever) in the same project. For example "Click forward to proceed and learn about... etc." It is easiest for me to copy and paste the text since this action retains the same color and styling, rather than retyping the text and reapplying the styling. However, I often have trouble with this. Here are the variable issues:
- It will not copy what I wanted and when I go to paste, it pastes whatever was on my clipboard previously.
- It will copy the entire contents of a textbox instead of just the text I selected to copy from that textbox.
I have tried selecting Copy / Paste from the Edit menu, and of course I have tried Crtl-C / Ctrl-V. Both commands function sporadically.
Is this a known bug, or am I the only one having this issue? I have confirmed the problem many times by simply trying to do the same action twice, finding that the software repeats the bad behavior.
Here is an example. I select the area below to copy (Click forward to proceed), but it will either not copy it at all or copy ALL the text in the textbox, including the portion I selected.

I have found out the cause for the issue: before you install 1.4.1_01.exe you must deinstall all JRE's on your computer (1.3.XX, 1.4.0.XX) than works that well the Copy/Paste.
that is confusingly because we don't have to make that in JRE 1.4.0.

How fix guided edit crop malfunction in elements 9

Crop in elements 9 guided edit worked fine, then suddenly would change margins top and bottom but not left and right. Reboot did not help

You could try resetting the crop tool in the full editor, it might make a difference.
Load the photo as you do normally
Switch to the Full edit tab in the panel bin
Select the crop tool from the tools list
There is a down arrow just to the left of the Aspect ration, click on that and select Reset Tool
Now try your cropping again

Copy-Pasting crop settings also affects other Develop settings?

I noticed the following behavior in my Lightroom 4.3. Let's say I have two almost identical pictures. Both have their Develop settings reset, no keywords and store some GPS info (so in the flimstrip both pictures have a "geotag" icon overlaid on them and no other icons).
Now, I go to Develop screen and crop the first picture. I leave other Develop settings untouched. This makes a "crop" icon to appear on the first picture in the filmstrip. All works as it should.
After that I ask Lightroom to copy the Develop settings from the first picture. In the selection dialog I leave everything unchecked besides the crop settings. I.e. I want to copy crop settings only, nothing else. Then I immediately paste these settings over the second picture. Expectedly, the second picture gets cropped in exactly the same way as the first one. It also acquires a "crop" icon in the filmstrip. However, in addition to the crop icon it also gets a "+/-" icon, as if some other Develop settings got changed by the paste as well. A quick inspection shows that all Develop settings (besides crop, of course) remain at their default values.
I wonder why the second picture acquires that "+/-" icon. Is there some hidden Develop setting that gets affected by my paste, even though I explicitly asked Lightroom to copy crop settings only? Or is it just a user-interface-level bug?

I reported this strange behaviour a year ago already for LR 3.4: http://feedback.photoshop.com/photoshop_family/topics/lightroom_3_4_1_wrong_activation_of_ badge_has_delevop_adjustments. LR 4.3 seems to have the same bug (at least I think it is a bug).
As far as I know, no "real" development settings are affected by this bug, however an internal flag for "has development settings" seems to be set when the "+/-"-badge appears. This means that such images are found by smart collections with "has adjustments = true". So it is not just an user-interface-level bug.

JTextArea Copy to System Clipboard

I have written an applet that generates RSA type 1 key pairs. The application version works correctly and outputs to files. The online applet version works but instead of writing to files I write the key data to the JTextArea hoping that it could be copied and pasted into files by the user.
The catch is that the private key (encrypted) data does not copy correctly when you use CTRL-C and then paste to Notepad. I think it has something to do with the encoded chars causing the copy to malfunction.
Take a look at the applet and the source code and let me know if you have any ideas about what might work. The main class is KeyJenApplet.java. I have tried JTextPane, JTextField and old TextArea. The old TextArea had popupmenu copy available but it was weird in that it didn't even populate the TextArea entirely when the applet was run. It populated the data much like the copy by only doing a portion of it.

I believe Windows does have a scripting language, which may well be the way to go, although so far I'm unfamiliar enough with it to be unsure.
As for the threads idea, unfortunately, I'm not programming the other application, so that won't work in this case.
Using java.awt.Robot is a good idea, and it may be the easiest, except that as you point out, the text in the clipboard would have to be broken down into keystrokes, which seems rather awkward and slow.
The other issue is how to make sure that another app becomes the active window. The Robot can presumably do it by sending keystrokes (like Alt+Tab in Windows), which require that it be the most recently active window--not always a safe assumption. Might there be a safer way?

User presets for copy/paste function.

User presets for copy/paste function?
During an edit session, I am constantly switching to, and from copying: crop (only), and copying everything except "local adjustments" and "basic tone". I use a few other combinations as well. Switching between these involve a lot of tedious (& error prone) checking and unchecking of boxes. A preset option of some sort would help here.
What I do is edit one photo (in a string of similar photos), then copy it. Then select similar photos and auto sync them with the paste command, In an action sequence, the crop often needs to be done separate. Also the lens profile & calibration needs to be pasted separate if I happened to be switching between two camera/lenses.

Crop an external image

Hi guys.
I'm new to flex. I just want to load an external image, crop it and display it on the canvas. do any of you have any idea, how can i do that?
I know I have to deal with BitmapData class but I am not able to get the bitmap data out of the external image.

First you have to load the image using a Loader/URLoader
When that is complete, you have to load the bytes
When that is complete you get bitmapData
Then you can copy/crop the bitmapData however you please.
First thing is , you have to learn how to load an external image , then proceed from there.

Not copying full A page

My HP2540 appears fine except when I try to copy an A4 document, The copy crops off around 2 cm off the top and bottom , it fails to copy the header and footer of each paste.
It works fine other wise.

I understand you are having troubles with your Deskjet 2540.
I will certainly do my best to help you out.
I am curious to know if you are making actual copies from the printer, as a stand-alone unit, or if you are printing out a document and are not seeing the header and footer. There is quite a big difference between the two functions. If you are printing out a document, check your print settings to make sure they are all correct within the program you're using. If the problem is with the copies, the problem could be in the printer.

Screen dims and window says to power off. Is this serious?

This is the second time this has happened in the past month. I had a detailed description of the the first event, but since Apple decided to completely rejigger the support forum, delete all of my previous questions and replace it all with this far more confusing format, that conversation is gone.
I copied the malfunction report, but it means nothing to me. I'm hoping someone might be able to tell me if I have an issue for which I need to be concerned.

You've had a kernel panic. You can visit The XLab FAQs and read the FAQ on diagnosing kernel panics and to learn more about them.
Yours appears to have been triggered by the video system. I would start by uninstalling your Symantec anti-virus software. This type of software is known for being problematic. If the problem persists and you see lines like this in the panic log:

Take the computer in for service as you may have a hardware problem.

Selecting, Cutting and Dragging...

Hello,
I am quite new on InDesign and have a problem.
Recently i am working on a book which is consisting of severel PDF files. I place these files into InDesign and do some trimming like resizing them or masking some text fields.
The problem is I cannot choose, for instance, a field which contains a text. Just like in old program "Paint", do we have chance to select any field with a simple rectangular frame and include the selected field in that frame so to move it anywhere (Believe me not too far away just a couple of inches).
I tried several ways to do it but none of the attempts helped.
Such a great program must have something so simple for this I believe but I couldn't figure it out.

If you didn't mean edit the text you can still copy, crop and shift.
If I understand what you're trying to do correctly my approach would be this:
Place the PDF where you want most of it

JPEG/PSD issue--I open a jpeg and edit it (levels, crop) and then "save as" and the save as option shows there are now levels in the image and it wants to save it as a .psd file or a copy with layers. What am I doing that has these settings appear?

16bit? Pixels extending beyond the canvas? (from a crop with delete unused pixels turn off). Have you previously been saving PSD files?
IME you sometimes have to tell Photoshop that the first save of a session is JPG, and it remembers from there on. The way to 'tell' Photoshop that JPG, or PDF, or PNG etc are now your preferred format is to Ctrl (Cmd) click on that format in the Save As drop down list. So long as the file does not have parameters that your chosen format does not support, then this should work for you.
[EDIT] Just noticed that you did include 'Crop' in the subject line. Do you have 'Delete cropped pixels' checked?

I have an image that i want to crop/use some parts and copy and paste as a title/overlay. how do i do this

This is a jpeg file but i also have it in illustrator. I friend of mine made this for me as i am not very proficient.
I want to crop/copy and paste the individual features of the panda and place it on top of a visual clip as a title, just like as if i was writing a heading.
I originally thought i could just copy and paste this from illustrator but this didn't work.
Then i thought if i get a backgroundless copy this would be able to work but that didn't either.
I have been learning premiere pro cc (my version) for the last week or so but I'm still new to video editing.
Ultimately i want the shapes of this panda to overlay a visual clip premiere pro cc

To change the opacity/transparency of the panda, double click it on the timeline, then go to the "Effects Controls" tab, twirl down the 'Opacity' setting, and adjust as needed.
Separating the panda:
Method 1: The easiest way would be to bring the panda into your project as 6 separate files exported from illustrator.
Method 2: If you would prefer to however cut it up manually inside of Premiere, then go to the 'Effects' tab, search for "matte" and select the "Eight-point garbage matte" effect. You can use this to isolate a feature of the panda.
Either way, you will need to stack multiple layers on top of each other in the timeline to piece together the panda again.
