Copying data to a SAN attached to UCS

Hi Folks,
We have a 2 5108 chassis with 3 B200 blades each and 2 fabric interconnect 6248. This UCS connects to a hitachi storage array. The virtual machines configured use VMware.
I am not very familiar with the SAN aspect and I wanted an idea on how we can migrate 4TB of data to the Hitachi Storage array . The external storage device which consists of the 4TB of data has a USB connection but the UCS system does not.
Can you give some options as to how this is normally done or can be done? Other than the USB.
Thanks

Is your Hitachi array connected directly to UCS, or via a SAN, and if yes, what kind of SAN (Brocade, Cisco) ?
One can connect a dongle (KVM local I/O cable) to any blade, and get 2 external USB connections:
The KVM local I/O cable ships with every UCS 5100 Series blade server chassis accessory kit. The KVM local I/O cable provides a connection into the server, providing a DB9 serial connector, a VGA connector for a monitor, and dual USB ports for a keyboard and mouse. With this cable, you can create a direct connection to the operating system and the BIOS running on the server.
I believe this could be misused to temporarly connect your storage for data transfer, although a very ugly solution.

  • Can users copy data from a web-embedded PDF before submitting it?

Can you advise: If a user is completing a PDF questionnaire (Forms Plus) which is embedded in our website, is there any way they can print their data off before they submit securely to the server? (It would be really helpful to have a function in there that allows users to do this, or save a copy).
If not, if we select for them to have the 'data' they have submitted attached and sent back to them with their submission receipt/acknowledgement email (automated by Adobe server), is their data securely transmitted to their email address from Adobe?
We are planning to use Adobe Central to collect sensitive data, so need to put in safeguards if this is not secure.
    Thanks

Its a pdf file. They can just click the Print button on the Adobe Reader toolbar. There is also a save button on the toolbar in Reader.
Email is inherently not secure so if you choose to send the data back in email it will not be encrypted.

  • Why does not "Copy data" menu item of Colormap chart work?

I need to get image of colormap chart (Sound and Vibration Toolkit v4.0) when program is running or stopped. It is very easy to get image in the clipboard by using "Copy data" popup menu item, but there is a problem.
There is "SVXMPL_Getting Started with SVT (Simulated).vi" example where colormap chart is used. In this example it is possible to get image of colormap chart (axes, grids and data) by simply clicking "Copy data" popup menu item.
Colormap chart in program puts into clipboard only image with axes and grids! I have compared colormap charts settings in both cases and have not found any difference related to "Copy data" functionality. Any ideas how to fix it?
Running Labview v8.0 and Sound and Vibration Toolkit v4.0 on Windows 2000/SP4.
In the attach there are chart and clipboard images.

For sure I am using intersity chart in my program (look at the attached image), but "Copy data" copies blank chart image.
I have done very simple test with modified intersity chart used in SVXMPL_Getting Started with SVT (Simulated).vi example:
    1) Modified intersity chart was copied to my program - "Copy data" copies blank chart image.
    2) Copy of modified intersity chart was copied back to the SVXMPL_Getting Started with SVT (Simulated).vi example. Two charts were connected in parallel with the same settings and property nodes. In original chart "Copy data" copies right chart image, in twice copied chart "Copy data" copies blank chart image.
So I am a little bit confused with such chart behaviour. Does it mean that some specific chart setting affects "Copy data" feature? And this setting is not copied by copy'n'paste?Message Edited by rsa1024 on 01-31-2007 03:51 PM

  • Flags:Copy Data Points - Missing flags?

I'm using DIAdem 2012 to extract points from an FFT. Each time I use the "Flags: Copy Data Points" function the channels created are missing the last data point (flag). i.e. Channel contains n-1 points.
At the moment I'm adding an extra flag to ensure I copy all the flags I actually need but I'd apprcieate any advice, I may be missing something obvious... I've attached a screenshot.
    Thanks in advance!

    Thanks for your suggestion Shalimar,
Your correct that all of the flags were not copied. I've since tried the same method of adding/copying flags on new data and havn't had any problems, all the flags are copied so it seems the problem is corrected. It may have been an operator issue rather than DIAdem!

  • "Copy data" fails to copy entire graph image

Formerly "Copy Data" when right clicked would copy a graph together with the data for pasting as an image file into other applications.
I have an application that used to work fine like this but now if you "Copy Data" you only get the graph background, grid, axis, etc. No plot lines.
A graph which does copy correctly in a sub VI if running stand alone (not in the main VI), will not copy correctly when running from the main VI.
Export Simplified image works and preserves the data plot, but fails to preserve the same graphical look to the plot, so is not desired for this use.
Running 8.2.1. Many different development versions of this application had working "Copy Data" for months, so its a new occurance. Problem occurs in multiple office apps: Word, PPT, Paint, and on multple computers. Occurs on both development version and executables built in 8.2.1

I am having similar problem. Using "copy data" gives only a blank background. See attachment; export simplified image options works but copy data option does not. I am usiing LV 2009 SP1. Any help will be highly appreciated.

  • Can not copy data within a realtime cube due to combination issues

    Hello all,
I want to use a planning function on a realtime cube in order to copy data from from Co_area CO1 into Co_Area CO2. The Co_Are and the profit center are part of the realtime cube, but not the nav attribute of the profit center.
When I test/run the planning function via a sequence in planning modeller I get an error message: The combination 'CO2/PCxy,#' is not valid, valid is 'CO2/PCxy,abcd': characteristic '0PROFIT_CTR' .
Has this error something to do with the relationship of the master data of profit center and its nav attributes?
    Any help would be great.
    Best regards,
    Stefan form Munich/Germany

I guess this problem is coming because of some wrong combination of records present in cube for controlling area 1. Make the below changes in the planning function. Dont include profit center in the level. Just include controlling area. Create a characteristic relationship of type derivation by master data attributes. Give source char as Controlling area and target as profit center. This will mantain consistency of char. combinations b/w controlling area and profit center in cube for the newly generated records.

  • Unable to copy data in planning

    Hi Gurus,
I am unable to copy data using "copy data" in planning web application.
getting an error "MSG_COPY_DATA_OPTIONS_FAILED: An error occurred while running the specified calc script. Check the log for details."
here are the steps I checked:
I checked whether planning and essbase are in sync.
The DBA team says that there was no spikes in memory.
when I take small data set it see data in target but the status in Job Console says processing for the past 45 min.
I was copying only one month of data.
    please help.

I see you must of read the two Oracle Support articles by what you wrote in your post.
Have you checked the essbase app log? also it sometimes help to restart the planning web app when it happens.
Also have a read of Re: Where is the calc script created when running the 'Copy Data' function ?

When you say "row", do you mean "column"?
    DB2000 wrote:
Because in this case STATE_1 and STATE_2 are only text of a log file/history.
So I think 1NF isn't really violated and because of performance of the database in this case it's better to put obsolete rows together.
    Why do you think that?
The definition of First Normal Form is that every column of every row contains 1 piece of information, not a variable number of pieces.  Whether or not that data is only text of a log file/history has nothing to do with it.
You might claim you have good reasons (such as performance) for violating First Normal form, but you can't say that you're not violating it.

  • Copy data from one Table to another Table

How can I copy data from one Oracle Table to another Oracle Table on a different server? Question 2: How can I clear all of the data in one Table with a single SQL script?
    Thanks...

    Question 1:
I assume you have the privileges. If you don't, ask the DBA to give them to you. Then
    1. Login to database_source (It could be either the source or the target. Let's assume it's the source.)
    2. Create a database link to database_target: CREATE DATABASE LINK link_to_database_target CONNECT TO myuserid IDENTIFIED BY mypassword USING 'database_target'; Note the single quotes.
    3. Copy the table data: INSERT INTO targetowner.mytable@link_to_database_target SELECT * FROM sourceowner.mytable; COMMIT;
    Question 2:
You have two options, but you may not have privileges for both.
    Option 1:
    DELETE FROM tableowner.tablename; COMMIT;
Advantage: Since this is a DML (Data Manipulation Language) statement, you have to commit the transaction. Also, the data will be gone but the table size is NOT changed, so it's ready for accepting replacement data. DML statements can simply be executed not only from SQL scripts, but from PL/SQL scripts as well.
Disadvantage: Slow, because all record deletion is logged, so you can recover from it by issuing a ROLLBACK; instead of the COMMIT; above. The table size is NOT changed, so if you are short of disk space or tablespace space, you have not resolved the issue.
    Option 2:
    TRUNCATE TABLE tableowner.tablename;
Advantage: Since this is a DDL (Data Definition Language) command, you do NOT have to commit the transaction. (DDL commands automatically commit both before and after their execution.) The table size will be changed back to the initial extent size which is the minimum size a table can have and can only be set when the table is created. If it needs to be changed, the table has to be dropped and recreated with a different initial extent size. The statement execution of this command is not logged, therefore it's much faster then the DELETE.
Disadvantage: No rollback. Being a DDL, this command cannot be executed straight from PL/SQL. If you need to issue this within PL/SQL, you will have to use dynamic SQL.

  • I need to copy data from a table in one database (db1) to another table in

    Hi
I need to copy data from a table in one database (db1) to another table in another database (db2).
I am not sure if the table exists in db2,,,if it doesnot it needs to be created as well data also needs to be inserted...
How am I supposed to this using sql statements..?
I shall be happy if it is explained SQL also...
    Thanking in advance

How many rows does the table contains? There are manyway you can achieve this.
    1. export and import.
    2. create a dblink between two databases and use create table as select, if structure doesnot exists in other database, if structure exists, use, insert into table select command.
    example:
create a dblink in db2 database for db1 database.
create table table1 as select * from table1@db1 -- when there is no structure present
-- you need to add constraints manually, if any exists.
insert into table1 select * from table1@db1 -- when there is structure present.
If the table contains large volume of data, I would suggest you to use export and import.
