Copying DVD player settings to multiple users

Hi Guys,
I have 20 iMacs that all need to have the same DVD player settings.
I have tried copying the com.apple.DVDPlayer.plist file to all of the user folders but it just doesn't want to play ball.
I basically want them all to be able to play Region 2 discs without having to set the region code every time.
Any ideas?

Probably the best way to do this would be to modify the software to be deployed via Java Web Start and set the memory parameters in the JNLP file. This would centralize the parameters used to launch the application to the JNLP file on the server.
The second-best way would probably be to create a wrapper batch file which launches Java with the appropriate command-line arguments.
I think you can also do this by setting the environment variable JVM_ARGS to contain e.g. "-Xmx256m".

  • Apply user layout settings for multiple users

    Hi,
Does any of you know how to apply a saved user layout (like Pivot sorting, hidden key figures, etc) to multiple users? It is strange that you can create such saved layouts for eg Alert Monitor, but not for Interactive Planning... I have designed a special layout for my users but cant distribute it centrally now
    Thanks in advance,
    Best regards,

    Hi,
You can't  apply user settings of planning book to multiple users at a time. But in transacton /SAPAPO/SDPUSET you can copy these user settings to other users.

  • Copy/Paste Develop Settings for multiple images

I'm trying to update some settings on multiple images. In Develop mode, I start by making the corrections to a single image, and then click the "Copy ..." button. I then select multiple images in the Filmstrip and click "Paste". This works just fine, but only on the 1st image/highlighted image, and not the whole selection. Am I doing something wrong here? Shouldn't I be able to update multiple images, at once, like a batch process?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Lee Jay
How do you know this is on purpose? It seems like a bug to me.
    See this thread: http://forums.adobe.com/message/2951457
If your reasoning was correct, how come the settings do paste to the entire target selection and not just the active image when the toggle in the lower right hand side of the screen is switched to Auto Sync?
Would love to hear more of your insight, because this is really confusing me.

  • Front Row DVD Player settings

I would like to have the front row dvd player use the settings from my Apple DVD Player but it seems the current version of front row does not use those settings. On my TV, a 1080p sony display, the image quality is highly depended on these settings.
On previous versions of Front Row, this was not the case. There is no Apple documentation that I was able to find outlining why this limitation is in place nor any workarounds. I was also not able to find a way to downgrade to the previous version to restore functionality either.

You can't view cover art with the DVD Player. You never specified that you're using Video_TS folders, how could we have anticipated that? Maybe you should have provided that information up front. You will need a mouse. If you don't have a mouse and a keyboard and Front Row is not the solution for you, maybe the Mac mini is not the right option for your media needs? Perhaps you could turn on sharing via VNC and remote control your Mac mini from one of your other "many" Macs? There probably are solutions/options available to you, but if we don't understand the original situation, we're not going to be able to provide you with solutions.

  • Can I alter security settings for multiple users of fingerprint reader on iphone 5 - i.e. if i allow my daughter to set her fingerprint, can I stop her from accessing itunes store to make purchases???

My daughter wants to access my iphone 5 by adding her fingerprint. Can I alter the security settings so that she cannot make itunes purchases etc?

Not if you want to be able to continue to make iTunes purchases too. You can lock out access to iTunes store using Restrictions (which always needs a passcode to change, Touch ID won't work for changing/removing Restrictions) but that means no one can use any of the restricted features.
iOS has no concept of multiple users with differing access levels like this. Touch ID stores multiple fingerprints, but they're supposed to be all from the same person, the device's owner, not multiple users.
You're going to have to buy your daughter her own iPhone... ;-)

  • OCFO account settings and multiple users

    Hi,
Does anyone know a solution for the following problem.
I'm creating an unattended installation for Office 2003 including Outlook 2003.
Also a silent installation of OCFO is done. During this silent installation of OCFO an Outlook profile is created
with all the appropriate settings for our environment.
This all works fine except when another users logs on to the machine. As far as I know their is no way to automatically create a new OCFO account in Outlook when OCFO is already installed on a machine.
So, in fact, my question is:
Does anyone know a way to unattendedly create an OCFO profile/account in Outlook on a machine which has OCFO itself already installed?
    Thanks in advance,

It sounds like you are looking for a .PRF file.
The file contains similar information as the ctoc.ini file. Our setup we have pc's with no admin rights with multiple users sharing them.
The connector is installed generically thru a MSI package due to the no admin rights. We then add Outlook policies and other customization thru the login. And lastly we call the prf file that is made on the fly by querying our ldap server for info such as e-mail address and full name. The PRF is not standard because it has custom Oracle settings located at the bottom for the connector.
If this looks like it is what your looking for send me an e-mail and I will send you the PRF file.

  • How to copy the International settings from current user to default user/welcome screen on Windows 8.1/ Server 2012R2 via PS script?

    Hi,
I have to script the international settings in virtual machines which are Win Server 2012R2 or Win 8/8.1.
For the current user, it's quite easy.
    new-WinUserLanguageList nl-BE
    set-WinUserLanguageList nl-BE
    Set-WinSystemLocale nl-BE
    set-Culture nl-BE
But how can I copy these settings to the Default user/Welcome screen? I cannot find a solution for that. Even on the site of Microsoft,
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh852115.aspx all CMDlets are only for the current user.
Maybe I'm looking with the wrong keywords, but... With Powershell v4 it should be possible, isn't it?
Thanks for looking together and hopefully we can find an answer.
    Kind reg,
    Dirk

Questions like this would best be answered in the deployment forum.
The default lock screen tracks the current user.  The system lock screen tracks the local system admin account.
There is a SYSTEM profile which, I believe, can be set via registry.

  • How can I share the same Firefox profiles / settings among multiple users on Windows XP?

I am installing Firefox on Windows XP and have imported all settings, add-ons, etc, from a previous installation.
I did the installation under the Admin account, but I would like to have the same settings and everything else available to some of the other users on the machine (but not all). How can I do this?
    Thanks.
    -Danny.

I understand what is in and where the profiles are, but my issue is that I want Firefox to let me use the same profile whether, for example, I am logged onto the XP system as "Admin" or "User1" I do not want to share the same profile for all users of the machine, just specific users, and I do not want to have to duplicate all of the information that is in the profile in each of the specific user's Application Data settings folders under XP (C:\Documents and Settings\USER-NAME\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\[profile-name]) for the user's in question.
    Am I making sense here?
    Thanks,
    -Danny

  • How to copy my personal list to multiple users?

    Hi SAP professionals!
How do I copy my own personal list (e.g. Posting Keys) to other existing users? It would really save me a lot of time to just copy it to their profiles, and I would greatly appreciate if somebody can teach me how. Thanks!

  • How do I export my DVD player bookmarks

    Greetings everyone,
I am upgrading to 10.5 and I was hoping to be able to take my DVD player bookmarks with me. The 10.4.11 has DVD player 4.6.5. I'm not sure what 10.5 has but I was wondering how to export the bookmarks and import them into the 10.5 player.
    Thank You for any help
    Marco

Thank you for your response. I actually purchase a used laptop and installed 10.5 on it and everything seams to be working fine. I want to completely reformat the old computer and do a clean install of 10.5. I have never done a bootable back up, but that is a good idea for the new (used) laptop.
I know where the bookmarks are in 10.4- user folder-Library-Application support-DVD player-settings. I am just not sure what to do in 10.5. I don't think it is stored in the same place.

  • DVD Player error 69889,  Mountain Lion 10.8.5

Suddenly my MacBook Pro has stopped reading some DVDs.   The DVD loads and then stops with a blank screen and error message 69889.  I have seen prior posts that advise deleting specific settings in the Application Support folder. Unfortunately, I cannot locate the DVD player folder.  IT does not appear as a subfolder of the Application Support folder.
I download VLC DVD player and the DVDs work fine with it.   I would like to fix the problem with the OSX DVD player.  Any suggestions on the exact path the the DVD Player/Settings folder?
    Thanks
    atlbgdy

Might be corrupted DVD Player preferences...
Open the Finder. From the Finder menu bar click Go > Go to Folder
Type or copy paste the following:
    ~/LIbrary/Preferences/com.apple.DVDPlayer.plist
Click Go then move the com.apple.DVDPlayer.plist file to the Trash.
    Restart your Mac.

  • Does Apple Dvd Player keep a list of dvds you played?

    Dear Friends,
Does Apple Dvd Player keep a list of dvds you played? If so,where is it?

Many (but not all) plist files in Application Support/DVD Player/Settings use the key "MediaName" to store the titles of DVDs that the application has played. (Some plist files in this folder have other purposes, so we'll leave those out of the equation.) Thus you could open every plist in Settings, check for the presence of the MediaName key, and then note the content. For example, using Property List Editor to open a plist that stores a DVD title, you'll see a line like:
    MediaName  String  TROY
    TextEdit will show something similar:
    <key>MediaName</key>
    <string>TROY</string>
But you'll probably want to see all the titles at once. Let me suggest a Terminal solution. Open Terminal, then navigate to the appropriate folder:
    cd /Users/username/Library/Application\ Support/DVD\ Player/Settings[RETURN]
    (Replace username with your username.)
    Then issue this command:
    awk '/MediaName/{c=2} c&&c--' *.plist[RETURN]
The result will look something like this:
              <key>MediaName</key>
              <string>ALEXANDER_NEVSKY</string>
              <key>MediaName</key>
              <string>TROY</string>
              <key>MediaName</key>
              <string>EXCALIBUR_16X9_FF_NA</string>
              <key>MediaName</key> ….

  • DVD Player won't play some DVDs

My DVD Player won't play certain DVDs. Presumably all commercial DVDs should be playable in the software. Fox discs are a problem. I can get Player to turn on, but after the menu, the screen flashes a reading error, from which it could not recover. Yesterday I tried to play a Paramount disc, and nothing happened. The computer didn't even acknowledge that there was a disc in the tray. A Wolfe Video wouldn't read at first (I got a dialogue box that the disc was blank) but I put it in again and that time it played.
Also, on a side note, I would like future editions of DVD Player to add the feature of allowing the viewer the ability to go backwards a frame at a time, as well as forwards.

    Hi, Doug.
This is starting to sound like a different problem. Your original report seemed to apply only to specific DVDs. Now it's with all DVDs. Before we get into how to reinstall DVD player, let's try a few other things that are more likely troublemakers with DVD Player.
    1. As a general check, run the procedure specified in my "Resolving Disk, Permission, and Cache Corruption" FAQ. Perform the steps therein in the order specified.
    2. Reset DVD Player. Peform all of the following steps before attempting to launch DVD Player again:2.1. Trash the com.apple.DVDPlayer.plist file in your Home > Library > Preferences folder. This file is the preferences file for DVD Player.
2.2. Using Get Info, make sure you are the Owner and have Access of Read & Write on the following folders on your account:• Home > Library > Application Support.
    • Home > Library > Application Support > DVD Player.
    • Home > Library > Application Support > DVD Player > Settings. If not, correct the permissions accordingly using the Owner and Access pop-up menus in the Details sub-panel of the Ownership & Permissions panel of the folders' Get Info windows.
2.3. Trash the contents of your Home > Library > Application Support > DVD Player > Settings folder.3. If none of the above sorts it out, let's see what Console can tell us: After the problem occurs, make note of the time, then immediately check the ends of these Console logs for clues that may have been logged when the problem occurred.
    4. Note that none of the above rules out the possibility that your optical drive has become defective.4.1. Can you burn DVDs, e.g. even data DVDs from Finder?
4.2. See if the freeware VLC Media Player (nee VideoLan Client) can play the DVDs.Good luck!

  • DVD Player freezing my computer

I have one DVD that will not play in DVD Player. It starts playing and then freezes on the legal notice. And it doesn't just freeze the application, it freezes the whole computer, and my computer screen starts flashing to black for split seconds at regular intervals. All I can do is a hard shut down with the power button. There's nothing out of the ordinary with the disc that I can tell. It's brand new without any scratches. DVD Player plays other DVDs just fine.
    Things I've tried:
Playing the DVD using VLC: No problem at all. Plays just fine.
Playing the DVD in DVD Player in a different user account: Still freezes the computer.
Playing the DVD on my family's PowerPC iMac G5: Plays in DVD Player without a hitch.
Playing the DVD on my brother's Intel MacBook Pro exactly like mine: Plays in DVD Player just fine.
Deleting DVD Player and CDInfo preferences & restarting: Still freezes my computer in DVD Player.
Now I'm out of ideas. Anyone have a clue as to what might be wrong?
    Thanks!

One more thing I've tried: uninstalling and reinstalling DVD Player and repairing permissions. It didn't work. The DVD is still freezing my computer in DVD Player. Any ideas anyone?

  • DVD Player error: not compatible with OS

Trying to fix a coworkers G5. She has 10.5.8 running, and can't play any DVDs. She is up to date on all software updates.
When I went to the DVD player settings, I couldn't choose "DVD Player". When I tried to open the application it told me that DVD Player is not compatible with this version of the OS X.
Can I reinstall that application? If so, where do I find it? Is it on the system installation disk? Do I need to do a reinstall of OS X?? Any other options?
    Thanks for any help given.
