Copying edited photos to disc

I am sure there is a simple answer...but I don't have it.
I am using Lightroom 1.0.on my imac 20" on OSX Tiger.
I have imported a number of photos from a recent trip, I made a few adjustments, straightening and such then I want to copy to a DVD. When I try to put them in a burn folder, I get the original non edited photos. How do I get the edited copies to disc. Do I export? Will that remove them from Lightroom?
Thanks for any help.
Judy

Exported files (esp jpegs.) WILL typically be smaller than the original RAW file.
If you are wanting to backup your RAW images/edits... you may want to backup your Lightroom library along with your images. Another option is to choose to export .xmp data. This may create a sidecar .xmp file, unless your raw files are .dng. Then when you backup move/copy the .xmp files along with the RAW images... Then if you open those images in Lightroom or one of the most recent versions of ACR, your edits should appear.

  • Copy edited photos from iPad to PC

I spent two hours cropping and editing over 100 photos.  To burn them to a DVD I copied them to my PC notebook.  When I looked at the photos none of my crops or edits were there.  I looked at my iPad and the edits are there.  Does not the IPad/IOS save edits to my pictures?  If so where are these versions saved so I can copy them?  How can I copy them when the only version I see in Windows Explorer is the original file?

  • I have edited photos in i-photo and would like to have them printed.  How do i burn them to disc in a format that a windows PC system can read.  I am in India and this is definitely "microsoft" country!  thanks for taking the time to guide me.

I have edited photos in i-photo and would like to have them printed at any photo development lab.  I am in India and this is definitely "microsoft" country !
Please advise me how to burn these edited photos to a disc to take to the nearest printing store in a format that "windows" system can understand.
Thanks in advance.  I look forward to learning about this.

Select the pics in the viPhoto Window and go File -> Export and export them to a folder on the desktop. Burn that to disk with the Finder's burn command. Result. A disk with a folder of images that any machine can understand.

Have a look at your import setting specifically Store Files:
Make sure it is set to where you want the originals to go.

  • My "edited" photos on my iPhone are not edited at all when I copy them to my computer.

I spent hours cropping pictures on my iPhone using it's built in editing feature and I "saved" every single one.  Plugged in my iPhone to my Ultrabook to copy them and NONE of them have retained any of the edits I made.  ALL the pictures I cropped are back to their original picture size. Why aren't the edits I made on the photos applied to them when I import them to my computer?  And why does my iPhone ask me to "save" after I make changes if it doesn't really save them?

The following has an explanation: iOS: Edited photos show original photo after import or in other apps

  • How do I copy my photos from one PC to a new one and have them be able to be edited on Photoshop?

I originally used a data cable to transfer from my old PC (Windows 7) to my new PC, which is also windows 7.   Many of the photos don't transfer.
I tried copy the photos to a hard drive.  any of the photos saved in a TIF file, are "broken files" in Photoshop Organizer

Thank you very much for taking the time to answer my question.   Perhaps I didn't make my question clear.  I do have Photoshop on both computers.   It's my photos that are not transfering.

  • Trying to open file in photoshop elements, only first option available in Edit Photo window.  The other two has "Edit a Copy is not applicable to raw or Digital Negative files" same for Edit Original.

Brand new user to Lightroom 5.  Was following tutorials and doing fine editing.  After done editing NEF files, I'm trying to open them in PSE 11 to further edit.  Using the "Edit Photo with Adobe Photoshop Elements Editor".  But the window only has the first option available and the other two grayed out.  Each of those has "...is not applicable to raw or Digital Negative files."  What??

sorry, no can do...ain't gonna happen.
What you've done is hit the wall on is the basic difference between lite duty spot healing and photo level tone and color correction (Lightroom and Camera Raw) and heavy duty pixel retouching in Photoshop.
When you need to substantially manipulate the "pixels" you need Photoshop and you'll be forced to render the raw file into a TIFF or PSD file either through Camera Raw or more better, via Lightroom.
You can do the basic tone and color correction directly in Lightroom and edit in Photoshop from Lightroom. But you will NEED to create and save out a "rendered" image that is no longer raw...then retouch to your heart's desire, save it and it'll be available in Lightroom along side your original raw if you choose.
But no, there's no way to open a raw in Photoshop, manipulate the heck out of it with massive retouching then save that back out as a raw file...ain't gonna happen.

  • Creating album of edited photos only.

How do I move just the final edited photo to an album but retain the original and edited versions in the catalogue. ? Every time I try,  all the copies move to the album and when I try to remove the unwanted copies from the album it removes all of the particular photo.

    Hi Brian and 99jon,
    Thanks for you replies.
The albums I will be sending to friends contain between 100 - 120 photos. I was thinking that this is too much to email and was considering copying to CD/flash drive and sending them.  I am not into Facebook so cannot upload them to that.  I havent tried copying to disc yet but believe, maybe wrongly, that the entire album, including al lmy attempts at editing, will be copied.  I will try this later.
99jon, I am using version sets as I thought this was the easiest way to keep the original and edited versions together. What your comment impies is that if I wasnt using version sets but just saved the edited copies with a new file name then I wouldnt have a problem copying the final edited version to the album.  I havent tried this either yet and again will try later but this sounds as though it could be quite time consuming in keeping the original and edited versions together in my catalogue.

  • FAQ: How do I edit photos in Revel?

Start by installing Adobe Revel to your iPhone, iPad, Mac, or Android device. Tell family and friends who will be
viewing your Adobe Revel photos to install the apps, too.
When you're sharing photos with friends and family, you want them to look their best so that everyone gets to experience and enjoy the moment as much as you did. That’s why we built intuitive and powerful editing tools right into Revel. Make every moment look exactly how you want to remember it with ease.
    Editing Photos in Revel
You can edit a photo on your Mac, iPad, or iPhone using Adobe Revel. Changes are saved to your photo library, so

When you export photo (MAC) Save to Camera Roll (iOS), that's when Revel applies your edits. On iOS the preview is used. on MAC the full resolution of the original is used to generate the new edited photo.

Edits you make to a photo appear when you view the photo on any device. Because Adobe Revel saves the edits as separate instructions rather than as changes to the original photo, you can always undo any edits you've made. For example, you can select a black-and-white look, and then if you change your mind, tap or click Undo. If you make a series of edits and then change your mind, tap or click Cancel.

Storing your original photos When you import a photo, Adobe Revel uploads a copy of the original to the cloud.
By default, Adobe Revel also stores a copy of the original on your computer in /Pictures/Adobe Revel Library
The files are stored in a "package" titled Adobe Revel Library. Control click on the package and select "Show Package Contents" from the menu. Then you will be able to view the images in the finder window.
    Favorites
When working with a single photo,  click on the "STAR" to mark your photo as a favorite. The image will show with a star under the "Favorites" in your Revel library.
    Add captions to your photos
Create lasting memories by preserving all the info and details related to each of your photos.
    Deleting photos
Be careful! Deleting a photo removes it from Revel on all your devices, not just the one you're working on. Make sure you really don't want the photo anymore before you delete it.
For example: If you delete the image on your phone or iPad, the image will also be deleted from the Adobe Revel Library in the /Pictures/Adobe Revel Library directory on your computer. Its always a good practice to back up your images to a location on your hard drive.

  • What happens to the original photo after editing?  Does it get replaced by the edited photo?

I just bought my first iPhone(5).  On Android, when editing a photo, the original stays in your gallery and the edited photo gets placed right next to it.  So what I want to know is, When editing a photo in the photo app, what happens to the original since it would be nice to be able to make different edits of it.

That is an excellent question. This is definitely not the programmed behavior of Photoshop Elements. Normally, when you edit a file, a new copy of the file is created (the original is simply left alone). This new copy of the file will have "_edited-1" added to the end of the name. It should definitely not be adding $ to the name at all.
Just as a test, create a new user account on your computer, and try editing another image to see if does the same thing there. However, I suspect there is another application on your computer that is modifying how files are saved, deleted, and renamed.

The folks here would need far more information from you before they provide help.
You know the drill:  Exact OS...PS version...etc. The more you provide, the better.
What is the exact message that is displayed?
What have you tried so far?
Do the files display on your browser? In Bridge?
What are you doing when it happens?
Are the files still on your cameras card? If so and,you copy one to your desktop and save it without changes, does it reload properly?
Don't worry about providing too much information. Every little bit helps.

  • How do I edit photos  stored on external wifi drive with iPad?

I have stored many photos on a Seagate Wifi external drive and would like to edit them using my iPad.  Only photos stored on Camera Roll come up for editing.  Can anyone help solve this problem please.

I don't have either the device or the associated app, but from a quick glance at the Seagate site it looks like you would have to follow a three- or four-step process:
    * Use the Seagate Media App to copy photo(s) from the external drive to your Camera Roll.
    * Use the editing program of your choice to edit it/them.
    * Use the Seagate Media App to copy the edited photo(s) back to the external drive
    * Optionally, remove the editied photo(s) from the Camera Roll.

  • How do i edit photos with out geting rid of the orginal

I try and edit photos, in Iphoto, but how do i edit a photowith out it geting rid of the orginal?

    Hi Robbin,
When you edit in iPhoto, iPhoto saves the original in an originals folder and the edits are made on a copy. You can always revert back to the original by control clicking on the image and scrolling to "revert to original"
If you want to see both the original and the edited version in the library, duplicate the original and edit the duplicate image.

Here's something you can try with a copy of your current library.
1 - go to iPhoto's Events preference pane and set the auto split option to 1 day per even.
2 - go the the Events mode, select all Events.
3 - go to the Events menu  and and select Autosplit Selected Events.
which will give you an event for each day.
4 - again select all events (although it might be better do to fewer at a time) and export them to your desired destination via the File ➙ Export ➙ File Export  menu option with the following settings:
The workflow above will produce a folder for each days photos with the date as the folder's title.
