Copying Grageband setting to Logic Express 7?

I've been working with Garageband since it came out, and what I usually do is begin a project in GB and then open it in Logic Express 7 to to be able to do more. Even though I don't like GB's limitations compared to LE 7, some of the pre-made settings are fun and easy to use.
Does anyone know of a script or a way of copying ALL of GB's settings to LE 7?
For example, the EQ - if I want to use GB's "Improve Guitars" in LE 7, I have to import a GB project with a track that has that setting into LE 7, then go to the EQ plug-in and save that setting. I have resorted to doing that for each project I work on, but it would be convenient to have them all copied over with a script, especially with all the Jam-packs.
Maybe you guys at Apple can pass that on? ( ....oh and while your at it, please add the ducker as plug-ins to LE 7.....I hate re-routing the sends on the projects I import;)
Any help would be appreciated.
Powerbook G4, 1.5Ghz, 1.5Gigs RAM, M-Audio Firewire   Mac OS X (10.4.6)   LE 7.1, GB 3.02, All Jam Packs

As far as I have found so far, all of the presets in GB are still there in LE for me, including those I made myself.

Is anybody out there who knows the steps to set up Logic Express 9 (scores) with an Alesis iO|26 interface to input notes by playing
an electric guitar? Thank you for your time and patience.

    PETERSON SONUUS-G2M MIDI-KONVERTER
ok this one could sendout your guitar sound as a MIDI data but only monophone.
Thats what i see as a big computation problem ( when you play your simple C7 there are
at least 10 important parameter that describe your C7 chord; but if you play monophone
theese small boxes can convert it).
Have you tried anny MIDI guitar?
I saw some "usb" guitars transmiting midi signal into
    software synth on some computer.

  • Move Logic Express from one mac to another?

Hi people... I used to use these boards a while ago, and it's been a while since I last posted.
I have logic express 7.2 with all 4 jampacks installed on my G5, and in a couple of days I'm getting a MacBook so I wanted to install Logic Express on it.
I've just spent the last 2 hours turning my house upside down trying to find the install discs but I can't find them anywhere (must have lost them when I moved house)
So I was wondering if I'd be able to copy the .app of Logic Express from my G5 to the MacBook, and also copy the channel strip folders etc.
Is this possible, or am I going to have to shell out for a new install disc?

Some possible options in no particular order:
    (1) Copy the folders to a SUB Thumb Drive.
    (2) Use Dropbox
    (3) If your Macs are compatible with AirDrop see list:
MacBook Pro (Late 2008 or newer)
MacBook Air (Late 2010 or newer)
    MacBook (Late 2008 or newer)
    iMac (Early 2009 or newer)
Mac Mini (Mid 2010 or newer)
Mac Pro (Early 2009 with AirPort Extreme card, or Mid 2010)
Activate AirDrop on both Macs to Move/Copy your Mail Folders.

  • EQ ing iMovie HD audio with Logic Express

I realize that this question pertains to both iMovie HD and Logic Express. I thought it best to try this forum because it deals with audio.
I have some footage was taken of a Jazz trio I play with. I imported one of the songs into iMovie. Everything is cool but the sound. It was the sound was recorded with the video camera's built in mic which was too close to the cymbals. I would like to be able to import the audio from iMovie into Logic express and then do a bit of EQ ing and perhaps a bit of compression.
I think that I know where to fine the audio iMovie audio files once I've extracted them from the clips. What I was wondering about is.......
What do I need to know as far as the audio sampling rates from iMovie to Logic Express go? Do I need to set up Logic Express in such a way that it matches the sampling rate of iMovie? What is the sampling rate of iMovie. In chapter 4 of the Martin Sitter book there are some things about sampling rates and how they are converted automatically to work in LE but I was not sure if I would then need to save the new audio file in a certain sampling rate so that I would wok in iMovie.
    Any thoughts on this?
    Thanks,
    Morris

    Hi
To run RMX multi timbrally in stereo mode:
Go to RMX in the environment. Change the MIDI channel of RMX to "all".
Create a multi instrument (using the new menu). It's a good idea to rename the mulit to RMX Multi. Cable multi instrument icon to the RMX channel using arrow tool. (Chose "remove" if a dialogue box promots you to "Remove channels port setting?").
Beginning on channel 8 move backwards and click 8 thru 1on the multi instrument using the Midi tool.
Go back to the arrange window. You should see a track called "RMX Multi 1" (if you renamed the Multi in environment "RMX Multi").
Create a new track for the remaining of the 8 Midi channels (if your Multi requires 8 channels). Also .. create an instrument tracks and assign it to RMX - that is your master RMX track where RMX is instansiated.
You now have a master track where RMX is instansiated and one track for each of your 8 channels within RMX.
You can play/place MIDI data in to each of the MIDI tracks - or drag and drop from RMX into any of these sub channels. You can also use automation on these. For any DSP use the master track.
To run RMX as a multi:
Essentially it's the same thing. Except in the mixer section of RMX assign track 2 to output B, track 3 to output C, etc ....
Go to the environment and create a stereo aux track for each MIDI channel you need in your multi. In the input section of the aux strip assign as follows: for B, 3/4, for C 5/6, etc ... (A is 1/2 and is where you have your instance of RMX).
The only advantage of multi mode is if you need discreet DSP on individual tracks.
In Stereo multi timbral mode you can freeze tracks.
    Hope this helps.
    Let me know.
    Cheers

  • How to set output 1 and 2 and master in pro logic express when mixing

what is the recommended procedure for setting the levels of output 1 and 2 fader and the master fain pro logic express when mixing? I'm used to just one master fader with my Mackie board.  Is there anything in the manual?

    Already found the answer myself.
The entries have to be made in the sun-j2ee-ri.xml file.

Is it possible to pre-set Logic Express to start recording at a specifi time, in my absence?
I am using a new MacBook Pro with solid state drive.

As far as I know Logic is not able to timer record.  But Audacity can and it's a free program:

  • Setting midi channel for ES2 in logic express 9

i have a track selected with an ES2 patch
I can play from my midi keyboard, sounds good and I can see the midi coming in from my midi channel
problem is it's not the midi channel i selected in logic for the track
it appears everything with logic is in omni mode
i can play one of my keyboards in channel 3 and the other keyboard in channel 5 and both trigger in logic channel set to midi channel 7
    please, any suggestions?

Unfortunately it did not work. I am playing in midi channel 6, and it shows properly on the midi in/out panel near the bottom of the screen by the numerator and cpu meter. Shows the midi notes coming in just fine
I have my software synth track selected as midi channel 3, and it plays this track....while my controller is in channel 6
I can also set iLogic Express to play an external midi track to any midi channel and it will still play no matter what channel my incoming midi channel is set to (1 - 16)
Midi is getting into Logic Express just fine
So why will it not only play in the midi channel I have selected for the track?
I also want to use an additional midi keyboard (or usb) to play a different track and midi channel, but they all play as if in omni mode regardless of the channel set from the transmitting keyboard and the information showing on the midi in/out panel
I am using an old Motu 8x8 midi interface into an M-Audio Firewire Audiophile which has one single midi in and out (no midi thru) to the mac.
Works like a charm except in Logic Express
Thanks for your help - I'm truly lost..... and I did read the manual cover to cover to try and find the answer
    Thanks

  • I want to sell my copy of Logic Express. How do I deauthorize/deregister it?

How do I deauthorize or de-register my copy of Logic Express to sell it?
Is that even allowed by the software license?

Did it come with Lion on it when it was new? If not you will have to do what is discribed above except you must Repartition the drive as one partition, not just erase the Machintosh HD partition, and then reinstall the original shipping version of OS X. The reason to Repartition as one partition it to remove the Lion Recovery HD partition. You shouldn't leave that on the system.
If it came with Lion poreinstalled when new just use the recovery HD partition or the online Internet recovery system to erase the drive and reinstall Lion OS X. To use either of those at startup hold down the Command+r keys, For the built in Recovery HD, or Command+Option+r keys (And hold them down until you see a globe on the screen) for the online Recovery system.

  • Set-up Roland Octapad 2 with Logic Express 8

Is anyone familiar with how to set up the Roland Octapad 2 Pad-80 with Logic Express 8. I want to use it as a midi controller for some drum samples I have (not general midi drums). But like Addictive Drums or BFD Lite. I have it connected with an edirol e-mux 1x1 interface. But when I hit the pads there is no response. I have it set up in the Audio Midi set up. Are there settings within the Octapad I need to change? I've spent two hours trying to get it to respond and it's becoming a pain in the arse.
    Thanks for any help.

Logic has a built-in midi monitor in the transport bar. When you hit the pads, are you seeing notes listed there?
The Octapad's model was "pad-80", and there's a manual available on the web - http://www.scribd.com/doc/8356768/ Roland-Octapad-II-PAD80OM. If you're seeing midi notes show up and can't change the settings in Addictive Drums to match them, you're going to have to change the notes on the pad -- which will probably be more difficult than doing it in the software.

  • Setting size of movie in Logic Express?

Is it possible to change the size of the movie in Logic Express? And if so, could someone tell me what the options are, as far as the size goes?
    Thanks...

I suspect it is the same as Logic Pro.
In Logic Pro you simply click and hold on the QT movie screen and a popup window appears where you can choose the size.
You did mean the actual area of the movie screen didn't you? Not the size in memory? That is determined, of course, by how you create your QT.

  • How to set up an audio interface with logic express

i just got a deck board tascam us-1641, downloaded the driver, plugged in my keyboard but nothing is happening. What am I missing or not doing?

You probably have to set up Logic to use your audio interface.
You'll find these settings under the Logic menu > Preferences > Audio. Then you can select the preferred audio interface.

  • Setting up my Interface in Logic Express (HELP!)

    Hi Everyone,
I was wondering if someone could maybe help me out a little?
ive got a Macbook pro and recently brought Logic 9 express for it, i also have a Lexicon Alpha interface (http://www.musiciansbuy.com/mmMBCOM/Images/lexiconalphadw.jpg) i have a M Audio Axion 25 Midi controller which i understand has a built in interface so this shouldnt need to run off an external interface.. anyway...
heres my problem, ive only just got Logic 9 and so i havent got much idea on alot of it yet, but last night i plugged in my interface via USB to my Mac, loaded up Logic. Plugged in my guitar input to the interface, created a new project and i have no idea where im going from there? Logic does recognise i have a interface but i cant get any sound, please someone tell me where im going wrong and what i need to do to.
    Help will be much appreciated
    Thanks alot
    Lee

There are no silly questions in the Logic Express forum (don't you try this in the Logic pro forum )
    LOL
However, you'll need a real audio track, no MIDI track. Use the "instrument" or "audio" track, because the "software instrument" and the "external MIDI" tracks are MIDI only, which means they only handle MIDI data (and in the case of the "software instrument" track, it converts this MIDI data by using a instrument plugin into hearable audio).

  • LOGIC EXPRESS 7 vs MOUNTAIN LION

I've upgraded to Mountain Lion. My copy of Logic Express 7 will not open saying that Power pc apps are not supported. Fine with me, I just want to  update or upgrade to a version that runs under Mountain Lion. Impossible to find this information in the Apple support or update pages...unbelievable...
Can someone in the community help me?
    Tx

I have express 9...there are issues. I can get work done, but the GUI is funny. Cursor changing when you move it over tracks. Playback is screwed up sometime, crackling, stalling. I have a brand new Macbook Pro. Not sure what is going on with the sound...Everything is quiet in monitors. (Not sure if this is a Logic express issue or Apogee driver issue not playing well with M.Lion.) (I tred my Apogee in Grageband and it seemed quiet there too....) But anyway there are some definate glitchs with express 9 in ML. I would go Pro, maybe or wait for X. (If there is one.) That's what I plan on doing. I think the Pro version works good in ML.

  • Logic Express 8 won't open

Just bought a new copy of Logic Express 8. Have installed twice, but the app will not open. Crashes after only a couple of seconds of the bouncing icon.
I tried firing up my Yamaha GO46 interface, thinking maybe it wanted to see an input. Got all my audio/MIDI configured, ready to go. Nothing helped.
I have Cubase LE installed and it runs fine. I wanted to improve my DAW, but an app that won't open is no improvement.

Any ideas what the deal is?

It sounds like an issue with the core audio.
When you start logic, hold down the ctrl button and choose no when the option to load the core audio appears. Logic should open.
You need to configure the audio settings in the audio/midi setup utility found in the application\utility folder.
By default, I think the input is set to the inbuilt microphone - you need to change it to your audio hardware which you use (make sure it's connected and turned on). You also need to make sure your audio hardware is turned on and connected to your computer before you open logic in future.
    Hope it helps.
