Copying keyframes in an effect

If I have a keyframe in an effect and it has all these crazy parameters and numbers, and then somewhere else in the effect I want to create another keyframe and use these same parameters, is there a way i can do it by copying the entire keyframe or do I have to go in and manually type the the same numbers and parameters again? Thanks in advance.

Coming from Avid, the whole keyframe issue in FCP is one of the biggest drawbacks with the program, in an answer to your question, I don't beleive you csn copy a keyframe just the individual parameters. Maybe in the future Apple will make keyfrsming more like Avid'd where you have i keyframe covering many parameters.

  • Copy Keyframe

    I am an Avid editor trying to learn Final Cut Pro without throwing my computer out the window. It was going fine until I got to keyframes and have been spending God knows how long trying to copy a keyframe within the effects editor so that I do not have to keep on re-entering the information everytime I want to create a transition. I looked everywhere and can't find any info on how to. The training video I am using does not mention it and when I try to copy and paste it does not do anything. Is it even possible to do it in Final Cut Pro? If you can't then I think I am going to shoot myself.
    Thanks

    Welcome to the discussions...
    Okay, first of all - I know this seems obvious, but - Final Cut Pro is not an Avid and an Avid is not Final Cut Pro. If you try to run FCP as though it's an Avid, it's kinda like trying to drive from the passenger seat and complaining that you can't understand why they'd put the gas pedal and the brake and steering wheel so far away... and forget about reading the gauges... Get into the drivers seat and pilot FCP like it's FCP...
    That said, to copy a set of keyframes, click on your clip in the timeline. ⌘C to copy. Select your new clip. Opt-v to paste attributes. Select which attributes (along with their keyframes) you'd like to paste. Decide if you want to Scale Attribute Times (if you're pasting into a longer or shorter clip, the keyframes will be re-spaced proportionally).
    make sense?

  • Is there a way that you can copy and paste blade effects from one clip to the other so that the cuts are an exact duplicate of each other?

    Is there a way that you can copy and paste blade effects from one clip to the other so that the cuts are an exact duplicate of each other?

    The same cuts that I have in this clip that i performed with the blade tool, I want to duplicate, copye, paste and apply to another clip. I want the cuts to mimic and be an exact same. I wish i could highlight the clip, click copy and then highlight the other clip and then click paste and the cuts apply.

  • Cannot seem to set keyframes in New Effect

    Hello - I have some text that I am trying to keyframe at two certain points in the timeline, so that it will 'get bigger' at the times that I want, to match the music I have going with it. The first time I tried it, I tried keyframing right in the text timeline. That didn't work, so I added a 'New Effect'. I still cannot add a keyframe, even though I select it, it does not give me the option to do anything. How can I keyframe a New Effect? Thank you!

    why do they even bother setting up 'New Effects' in Live Type then...?
    Motion was created after LiveType
    Bogie's suggestion to Read The Fun Manual is good advice, especially considering you don't need to rely on someone getting back to you.
    He's also right about Motion being a better tool for what you want to accomplish.
    good luck

  • Copy Keyframes from Spreadsheet AE CS5.5

    I've copied position keyframes from an AE composition to an Excel spreadsheet, did some editing and now I'm trying to copy/paste the new data back into the composition layer.  The "Paste" will not work.  I'm sure it must be something simple, but I cannot come up with it.  Any ideas? Thanks for your help.

    You should use a plain text editor.
    I forgot to mention that bezier information is not translated outside of AE. You'll end up with straight lines between points. If that's what you are seeing then that is normal. The copied keyframe data should look like the top of this exampls (invisibles showing) not like the bottom example (pasted from a word processor)
    Once again, don't expect curved paths or easing to be reproduced or edited. These values do not leave AE. I don't know where they are hidden, but when the clipboard data is sent to another app all interpolation between keyframes is lost.

  • Copying keyframes in motion parameters

    Sometimes it might be necessary that you need the same values from one keyframe for a new one. Is it possible to copy keyframes (eg scale, rotation, center, opacity etc) to new keyframes?
    For example: Made a keyframe in the timeline for CENTER (-45,73 -36,69). Then 5 keyframes further I need a CENTER-keyframe with the same value. How can I copy it?
    I hope you'll understand. My English is not too good. Thanks in advance.

    Control-K sets keyframes in every category of Scale, Crop, Distort. It's much faster than having to click the mouse button when you have more than just one parameter. But if you are just adjusting the Center value then there's not much time savings.
    I can't tell you what workflow will work best for you, but if I had to set multiple keyframes, and a number of them had the same parameters then I would quickly set all of them with the same parameters. After which I would go back and adjust the ones that varied, but that's just me.
    If you wanted to copy keyframes from one clip to another clip you could do so by copying the clip and then pasting attributes [basic motion]. I do not know of a way to copy a keyframe from one portion of a clip and pasting it into the same clip

  • Keyframe shape mask effects?

    Can you keyframe shape mask effects?
    I'm trying to keyframe a simple shape mask effecting the outside area: -86 exposure to 0 exposure, meaning that first, inside the mask all is seen, while outside llittle is seen, then move to 0 exposure where all is seen. But clicking keyframes next to shape mask (below Color Correction 1) doesn't work. I input -86, click keyframe then move to where I want and input 0, but that's how the whole clip appears with no gradation changes.
    Any suggestions?

    I created some animatable masks (keyframeable on-screen control points). It's three keying effects: a single 4 point mask (like the one that comes with FCPX), a two 4 point set (essentially an 8-point), and a four 4 point set (essentially a 16-point.)
    Please watch the video for best use guides. Most of the time, layering on 2 or more single 4 point mask shapes is quite addequte to do most of your masking needs.

    These effects are free.  You can use them any way you like, but please don't redistribute (or sell) them -- direct people to the above link instead.

  • Keyframing Black & White effect?

    Has anyone had this problem?  I had a student who wanted the Black & White effect to fade in over the course of a 30 second clip in one of her projects.  She applied the effect, keyframed it in the Video Animation panel above the clip, let it render, and it played back perfectly in her Timeline.  When exported, the entire clip was black and white.  If she quit and then reopened FCP, the entire clip was black and white.  We deleted preferences, repaired permissions, and reapplied the effect, but the problem remained.
    Our workaround was to leave the Black & White effect applied to the entire clip, place a copy of the clip above the original, and fade the opacity of the copy.  That worked.  Anybody else with a similar experience?  Is this worth reporting as feedback?
    We're using FCP 10.0.9 in OS 10.8.5 on a 3.2GHz Intel core i3 iMac with 8GB of RAM.  The footage is AVCHD 1920x1080 shot on a Panasonic camcorder (can't recall which model) optimized to ProRes422.

    Yes, it's reproducible. It does not happen when you keyframe the effect use the amount value in the inspector.

  • Compiler warning PLW-05003 parameter at IN and COPY may have side effects

    For the following Procedure:
    create or replace
    PROCEDURE lob_replace
    p_lob IN OUT NOCOPY CLOB,
    p_what IN VARCHAR2,
    p_with IN VARCHAR2 )
    AS
    n NUMBER;
    BEGIN
    dbms_output.put_line('p_what = ' || p_what);
    dbms_output.put_line('p_with = ' || p_with);
    n := dbms_lob.instr( p_lob, p_what );
    dbms_output.put_line('n = ' || n);
    IF ( NVL(n,0) > 0 ) THEN
    dbms_lob.copy( p_lob, p_lob, dbms_lob.getlength(p_lob), n+LENGTH(p_with), n+LENGTH(p_what) );
    dbms_lob.write( p_lob, LENGTH(p_with), n, p_with );
    IF ( LENGTH(p_what) > LENGTH(p_with) ) THEN
    dbms_lob.trim( p_lob, dbms_lob.getlength(p_lob)-(LENGTH(p_what)-LENGTH(p_with)) );
    END IF;
    END IF;
    END;
    When I compile this, I receive the following warning "Warning(15,5): PLW-05003: same actual parameter(P_LOB and P_LOB) at IN and NOCOPY may have side effect"
    Line 15, column 5 is:
    dbms_lob.copy( p_lob, p_lob, dbms_lob.getlength(p_lob), n+LENGTH(p_with), n+LENGTH(p_what) );
    I'm reading about the NOCOPY Compiler hint at
    http://download-west.oracle.com/docs/cd/B10501_01/appdev.920/a96624/08_subs.htm#12813 but I'm not for sure what exactly the issue is here?
    The syntax for dbms_lob.copy is:
    DBMS_LOB.COPY (
    dest_lob IN OUT NOCOPY BLOB,
    src_lob IN BLOB,
    amount IN INTEGER,
    dest_offset IN INTEGER := 1,
    src_offset IN INTEGER := 1);
    Do I need to copy the p_lob to another variable, not sure what do here?

    Hi,
    Is this really a stand alone procedure, or is it in fact part of a package?
    That warning usually comes when parameter is declared with NOCOPY in specification but without in body. Or vice versa.
    Could this be the case?

  • Copy right on sound effects in iMovie

    I just got a strange email from youtube. They claim a movie clip of mine contains material which possibly is the property of "GoDigital MG For a Third Party".
    I only used sound effects and music from imovie. Isn't this material free to use and publish in my movie clips?
    Does anybody know more about this? I cannot find any indication of the copy right inside imovie.
    It also states that I don't have to do anything, my clip is still available world wide but they could advertise on my page.
    Thanks for any help in advance. If this meant trouble I would remove the clip. Its only a holiday film. Or I would move to Vimeo.
    Cheers

  • Can I copy the filter/motion/effect settings from one clip to others?

    I've got a series of photos in my timeline, each will move with some random little rotation and zoom in/out pan, etc... on a black background. Can I save some time by setting up one photo with the effects the way I want it and then copying those settings to the other photos?
    After doing that, I would have to adjust the settings on each photo to randomize them. Or would it be just as easy/easier to just start from scratch with each photo?

    Hi(Bonjour)!
    Once your clip's motion and scale is adjusted, select your clip in timeline, use copy command. Now select all others clips in timeline, use the contextual menu (control click) over the fist one, and select "paste attributes menu--" select "basic motion".
    You can also use option-V shortcut to invoque the paste attribute contextual menu.
    When all your clips have the same movements and scale, simply recenter (motion tab) each one to put some variation in motion.
    You can also set two ot three movements (clips and paste item properties in random order (manually) to other clips.

  • How to keyframe color-correction effects.

    I have seen the odd question bemoaning the inability of FCP X to keyframe color-corrections but as I have no interest in doing such things I have paid no attention.
    However, I discovered in a Ken Stone article that color corrections can be keyframed using a free filter from Ripple Training.
    The RT tutorial and a link to the filter can be found here:-
    http://www.rippletraining.com/using-the-rt-color-balance-effect-in-final-cut-pro -x.html
    Apologies if almost everyone else already knows this, but I am sure there will be somebody (like me) who doesn't.
    The original Ken Stone article on all types of FCP X keyframing is here:-
    http://www.kenstone.net/fcp_homepage/fcp_x_keyframing_effects_stone.html

    One way to 'keyframe' colour correction with FCP X is to add the clip to the storyline, then move the playhead back to the beginning of that clip and use 'Q' in the Event Browser to add the same clip again as a connected clip, above the original.
    Colour correct one of the clips, then keyframe the opacity of one of them to effect the change you want.

  • I can't edit my keyframes in after effects? (please help)

    Okay so the other day I purchase after effects, everything was working fine until this happened:
    http://gyazo.com/1ad100e3404c6e7c06e01407d2b8e7a8
    (click on the link screenshot)
    This is really bugging me and i've uninstalled and reinstalled with no results.
    My computer's specs are in this screenshot:
    http://gyazo.com/5fbeaff62b6136cd74a177e251500ac0
    Just explain to me all the options i can take towards fixing this.

    You simply have hidden the A/V column. Right-click on the column headers and reveal it from the list. If it has shrunk together so you can't expand it again, trash the prefs to restore factory defaults.

  • Copying keyframes

    Is there any way to copy key frames in the motion tab from one clip to another clip?
    Copying filters is easily done from clip to clip. But motion settings?
    Dale

    cmd-c to copy, opt-c to paste attributes. Note the scale-attributes option. Read the manual about the paste attributes option before using it, so you best understand it, but that's the function you're looking for.

  • Renaming lots of Audio Tracks

    I am organizing a large multi-camera shoot and have a total of 10 tracks of audio.  I have synced everything into the number of multi-clips I need and want to label each audio track according to who the mic is attached to.  This is fairly easy to accomplish, but turns into a tedious task when I have 10 tracks of audio to change per some 100 multiclips.  The track names would stay consistent across all of the multiclips, so if I could change it once for everything, that would be perfect.  Is there some way to change the default track names somewhere?  Perhaps a Copy/Paste function of 'all track names' to a new clip?  Any other way to turn this tedious several hour task into something that might take a few minutes?  Thanks for any help.

    Had a bit of trouble following your reply, sorry, but what it seems to me like you are talking about is video overlays?  I don't need the audio track name displayed on screen.  What I am talking about doing is when the multiclip is open in the timeline (right click multiclip>open in timeline) I go to the audio tracks and expand it a bit until you can see the name of the track displayed as 'Audio 1'.  I right click that and hit 'rename' and change the track name to the persons name, such as 'Jack'.  Now in the timeline that entire audio track displays as Jack's audio track, which is appropriate, as it is his audio.  If I go into the audio mixer I can change all of these fields without expanding and right clicking, but it is only slightly faster that way.  What I'm looking for is a way to make the default of the first audio track instead of being 'Audio 1' be 'Jack'.  If that doesn't work, some way to get premiere to realize that Audio 1 was renamed 'Jack' on this multiclip and I want to copy and past that track name to this other multiclip, much the same as if I was copying keyframes in After Effects from one layer to another.  Barring that, literally anything to lessen the workload.  I ended up having to do it the slow way last night, but I might have to do this sort of thing again in the future, so a way to do it fast would still be helpful.
    If I assumed what your post was about and got it wrong I apologize.  Please let me know if you think what you proposed above would help me with my clarified issue.
