Copying master data repositories

Hi All,
Can you please guide me how to copy existing master data repositories including the schema of the existing database and deploy in another database.
Regards,
Madhu

Hi Madhu,
You can create archive file (.a2a) to the repository and can unarchive it on the other MDM server running on some other data base.
Repository archive file is database & OS independent file. to create an archive file, right click on the repository on Console. Select Option "Archive Repository". Specify the Archive file name and select Ok.
This will create a .a2a. file in the archive directory of MDM server. Copy and paste this file to the archive target mDM server running on some other database. to unarchive repository on new MDM server, right click on mounted MDM server, and select "unarchive repository". Specify DBMS login details, Archive file and repository name on the next screen and click ok.
This will create repository from the archive file. This new repository will have same schema as your previous repository.  You can also create schema only archive files too.
For more details please refer console reference guide available at help.sap.com

  • Copy Master Data from BW cube to BPC cube

    Hi,
I need to copy a master data from BW cube to BPC cube.
Can I do this from BW? That is, Can I copy master data from the view of the cube of BPC in BW?
I do this from BW and then I see the master data in my BPC cube from the BW view, but when I open my cube in the BPC environment, I don't see nothing of the master data.
    What's the problem?
    Regards,
    Miguel.

    Hi Miguel -
I think you are asking if you can copy transactional data from a BW cube into a BPC cube (cubes do not contain master data).
If this is what you want to do, yes the BPC IMPORT package is a delivered data manager package that allows you to select a BW cube, transformation file, and additional options (such as work status checking and default logic execution).  The use of the Data Manager [process is the "best practice" since you will need to transform the BW data model into the BPC data  model and the tools delivered in the IMPORT data manager package are ideally suited for the job.  You can automate this process by following the guide at:
[https://wiki.sdn.sap.com/wiki/display/BPX/Enterprise%20Performance%20Management%20%28EPM%29%20How-to%20Guides|https://wiki.sdn.sap.com/wiki/display/BPX/Enterprise%20Performance%20Management%20%28EPM%29%20How-to%20Guides]  The specific document is:  "How to Export BPC Transaction Data Using a Custom Process Chain"
If you are actually asking for the process for loading master data into BPC dimensions, please read the following "How To" guide that describes the current best practices:
[https://wiki.sdn.sap.com/wiki/display/BPX/Enterprise%20Performance%20Management%20%28EPM%29%20How-to%20Guides|https://wiki.sdn.sap.com/wiki/display/BPX/Enterprise%20Performance%20Management%20%28EPM%29%20How-to%20Guides]  The specific document is: "How to Automate Master Data Loads in BPC NW"

Both the company codes will have same Chart of accounts. Is there any t.Code by which i can just extend these masters to my company code. Plz help. its very Urgent.
    Expecting a reply ASAP.
    Regards
    Rajaram

    Hi
In customization,  Assign Chart of A/cs to company code there u will get the path for copying one company code to another company GL Masters.
And also the CCtrs u already assign to the first company code.  Once u copy the data for one company to another automatically it will copy to another company code.
Hope this is useful to u.

  • Copying Master Data Tables

    Hi
Currently we have 0COSTELMT which is compunded to 0C0_AREA.
Now I have to create ZCOSTELMT which is not compunded to 0CO_AREA.
Also I have to create a new Cost Element Master table which is a copy of the existing Master table, except that Controlling Area is not included.  Duplicates in the source (two or more rows, from different Controlling Area, having the same Cost Element id) should result in one record.  The Cost Accounting cubes will then drop the existing Cost Element Master and include instead this new Master.  Any hierarchies built on Cost Element must also be attached to this new Cost Element Master.
How do I create new master data tables which are a copy of old ones with some changes.
Also how do I attach the hierarchies.

How do I delete this attachment of datasources to 0COSTELMNT.
Do I need to create new infopackages using the same datasources or should I create all three datasources too from scratch.
I dont want 0CO_AREA in the new master data.
    Voodi,
Can you elaborate " transformations between original DS and new IO"
    Thanks

  • How to copy master data backwards from production to QA

    Hello BI community,
Our transactional QA system was refreshed with a database copy of production, and the BW landscape was not refreshed.  We cannot refresh the BW QA system because the production BW database is far too large to be duplicated.
So I'm searching for a way to bring all of the MASTER DATA up to date in the BW QA environment, without performing manual reloads.
Would it be possible to perform a copy of just the P,Q, X, Y, and T tables from production database to QA ?  I believe this would cause inconsistencies with the S tables.  But then, to copy the S tables backwards from production to QA would cause inconsistencies with the transational data providers.
Is it possible to do a "client copy" in BW where only the master data is transferred ?  I think we'd be comfortable with reloading all new transactional data as necessary, just as long as the master data were brought back in its entirety from production to QA.
Any thoughts our guidance will be greatly appreciated !
    Thanks,
    Keith

big thanks to everyone who has replied, and especially for this suggestion!
The reason why we don't load the data from BW production is simply a matter of volume.  It's a 7 TB data warehouse, and the master data sizes are huge.
One other option I was thinking of, since I used to be a basis guy, is to copy the entire production database and then delete, delete, delete away the transactional data until it's all gone.  The only thing needed after that is a database real work to give the space back.  Of course, the basis guy see that as a last resort
I'll try this suggestion above & then report back with the results... but I'm afraid the data sizes, again, will be prohibitive.  We'll see.

  • Can i reference master data, instead of distributing/copying?

    hi,
is it possible that you keep all the harmonized data on the master data server and the master data clients <i>create references</i> to the master data records only? means, the mdc does not get a real copy of a master data record...
the background of the question goes here: if you've got many customers on one r/3 system, represented by individual r/3 clients, and then you distribute/copy master data to the specific r/3-clients you obtain redundancies on this particular r/3-system.

    Hi Matthias,
Such an approach would have two major impacts: On the one hand, it would imply that the master data server must keep all relevant master data information of all individual client application systems, which, though being pretty complex, may be feasible.
But, on the other hand, this would also mean that the business processes that already run on the basis of existing master data in the client application systems would have to be reestablished as a whole, which would result in a temporary shut-down of indispensable business. Therefore, any such approach might only be feasible when it came to setting up a totally new business process architecture. But since SAP MDM is focused on consolidating and harmonizing <u>existing</u> heterogeneous system landscapes, the data replication (distribution) is the approach of choice.
    Kind regards, Markus

  • Assigned Master Data roles in IBP user management

    Hi All,
The new update of the IBP 4.0.1 has given a new feature called Assign Master Data under roles to give permissions to the Master Data with respect to versions. But when I add a version and tick version specific Master Data under the versions tab and activate my model, only some set of Master Data is visible under my Planning area. Is there any reason for this? Please let me know.
    Thanks.

    Hi Manaswini,
We have noticed a similar behavior while trying out the version specific scenarios and copying Master data /Key Figure from one version to another. For some of the planning areas, only few of the Master Data would be visible while for other it works as expected.
So, I am not sure about the exact reason but if you have any other planning area, you could try activating version specific master data over there.
    Thanks,
    Srikant

    How can i achieve this?
    Please help me

    Hello,
Create Common Distribution Channels & Common Divisions.
This will make sure that Master Data you create for one Sales Area is valid for other Sales Areas also...
    Proceed here:
IMG - Sales and Distribution - Master Data - Define Common Distribution Channels
IMG - Sales and Distribution - Master Data - Define Common Divisions
    Hope this helps,

  • Copy mode of payment from customer master data to sales order,

    Hi Gurus,
    Hope all is fine.
I have a small doubt. If we want to transfer the mode of payment from customer master data to sales order, do we have to use Exit- MV45AFZZ.
Can't we transfer the data without the exit?

    Hi,
I have tested this in sand box.Thought the customer master is having payment method ( payer ) ,It is not copying from customer master to sales order but if you maintain manually in sales order ,it is copying into billing document level.FYI see below snap shot.
Note:If you want it from customer master into sales order, may be you need to take help of abaper on this.

    Dear Akil,

  • Master data to order copy control

While creating Sales order, when i give Sold to party,  Customer data from Customer master wil be populated in the order.   How can i control  this data,  i.e, How can i restrict this copy from master data .??
Eg.  I am using some order type zor.. i dont want partner functions to come from customer master...

Then where from system will get those data. In your example you have put that partner function should not be copied from the master data.
In the cutomer master, partner function tab , we maintain the relationship, like if A is the Sold-to Party, then B,C,D are ship-to-party, bill-to-party,payer respectively. You can maintain other partner function also if required.
If you are entering suppose cutomer F as the Ship-to-party for Customer A, then system will not accept , as customer F has not been defined as the ship-to-party for customer A in the master data.
If something else you want to do,you write some program with the help of ABAPer, but I am not sure about it.

  • Copy All Employee Master Data

    Dear All,
In Human Recource module I have a list of Employees, Now I create new database and want to copy all Employee Master data from old database to new database . Please give me the solution for this problem.
    Thanks & Regards

    HI All,
    Option
    1) you may write a querry and get desired data what you need for SAP's standard template of DTW and then export that template in the excel and again with the help of DTW you can migrate that in your new database.
    2) select required tables from SQL Server Management which is OHEM and HEM6 copy it and paste in the desired database. But be carefull you have to have knowledge of SQL.
i still think the second option is quiet easy will take just 10 -15 min.
