Copying Mountain Lion to another memory stick

I want to copy my bootable back up of Mountain Lion to another memory stick but the copied size on the new stick is in MGs not Gbs. Please can anyone help?

Clone using Restore Option of Disk Utility
  1. Open Disk Utility in the Utilities folder.
  2. Select the destination volume from the left side list.
  3. Click on the Restore tab in the DU main window.
  4. Select the destination volume from the left side list and drag
it to the Destination entry field.
  5. Select the source volume from the left side list and drag it to
      the Source entry field.
  6. Double-check you got it right, then click on the Restore button.
Source means the flash drive with the system. Destination means the blank flash drive.

Open the Mac App Store on the other Mac and in the Quick Links sign into your account. See if the Mountain Lion purchase is among hidden apps in the iCloud area of your account info.

can i download mountain lion to another computer after i bought it

Yes. The other computer will have to be running Snow Leopard or Lion and sign into the App Store with the same Apple ID used to purchase Mountain Lion.

  • Can I buy mountain lion in another Macbook computer, and then Re install it in mine?

Can I buy mountain lion in another Macbook computer, and then Re install it in mine?
I'm stock in the re install mode of the Mountain Lion system and I obviosly didn't buy it for this Macbook, and I was wondering if I can purchase Mountain Lion in on of my friends Macbook, and then install it in mine, with my apple ID of course. Thank you.

Well, I can check with mine when it need to be updated and then I can signed with my ID again on his mac to update it, right? Just wondering if it's not going to create any conflicts with other software's, specially with iCloud and iTunes, because of his iPhone and iPad.
    Thanks for the answer.

You might be able to set up the SMTP server settings in Mail to authenticate with a password. That may get the email through.
In Mail Preferences, Accounts, select the account.
Click on the Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP) popup menu and select Edit SMTP Server List
Select the Server and then click the Advanced tab at the bottom.
Select Password authentication and add your details.
You might also want to set a custom port (even if it is one of the defaults)
This solution is normally for an email provider that will not let you send outside of your ISP network, which most prevent. They also must support password authentication of the SMTP server.

  • Can i install os x mountain lion in another macbook air with my apple id?

Can i install os x mountain lion in another macbook air with my apple id?

It depends. If you purchase an OS upgrade it can be installed on up to 5 devices that are registered with your ID. However if you purchase a computer with that OS you cannot install it on other computers you own. The OS that comes with your computer is tied to the computer and not your ID.

  • Download full copy mountain lion

I purchased a family license of Mountain Lion and upgraded 4 Macs. One of the Mac was reset to factory default to wipe out personal files. Now it will not load the original OS Leopard. I think the way around this is to load Mountain Lion since it was upgraded before the reset. My problem is how do I do that? I was thinking to download it to a usb stick on another Mac and then use that to load on the reset Mac. Where can I download a full version so I don't have to buy it again?
    Thanks in advance.

On the computer that you restored, open  > About this Mac and see Version. If it's 10.6, open  > Software Update and install the latest version. Then, open App Store > Purchases and download Mountain Lion.
Also, you can download Mountain Lion on one of your other computers and use Lion Diskmaker to create a bootable disk with Mountain Lion, so you only have to start the Mac from your USB drive and install Mountain Lion

  • Can I install Windows 8.1 as Bootcamp partition from OSX Mountain Lion using a USB stick?

    I have the following:
Bootable USB stick with Windows 8.1 - 64 bit
MacBook Pro with Mountain Lion 10.8.5 - it's probably 3-4 years old.
The Bootcamp partition currently has Windows 7 installed.
I want to know whether I can install Windows 8.1 from a USB stick into a Bootcamp partition. Apple's article on the topic refers to Bootcamp 5.1, but my OSX install has Bootcamp 5.0 - I am assuming 5.1 comes with the Mavericks version.  I don't want to upgrade to Mavericks because I am running out of space as it is on the OSX partition.
Thus my question. So can I?

Your laptop has a DVD drive, right? If so you need to burn your ISO to a disc, will not work off USB

  • Problems Installing Mountain Lion on Another Family Computer

I purchased Mac OS X Mountain Lion and installed in on my personal laptop.
I'm trying to install Mac OS X Mountain Lion on a family laptop that my wife and I jointly use - a Macbook Intel Core 2 Duo, 2.4 GHz, with 2 GB of memory, running OS 10.6.8. In other words, it meets the specifications I found online to upgrade to Mountain Lion.
I created a new admin user account for us, logged into it, went to the App Store, logged in with my Apple ID, went to purchases, clicked downloads, and at the top was OS X Mountain Lion.
I clicked Download, and it starts well enough, gets to about 10mb, and then restarts at zero. It proceeds to do this about five times before an error comes up:
"The application could not be downloaded.
The application you tried to download could not be downloaded. Check your internet connection and try again."
I'm drawing plenty of data with our internet. Any ideas on what to do?
I also have in my purchase history OS X Lion. Should I try to download that first, and then try to download Mac OS X Mountain Lion from there?
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

You are sure that the MacBook meets these Requirements below?:
OS X Mountain Lion system requirements
To install Mountain Lion, you need one of these Macs:
    iMac (Mid 2007 or newer)
MacBook (Late 2008 Aluminum, or Early 2009 or newer)
MacBook Pro (Mid/Late 2007 or newer)
MacBook Air (Late 2008 or newer)
Mac mini (Early 2009 or newer)
Mac Pro (Early 2008 or newer)
    Xserve (Early 2009)
    Your Mac needs:
OS X v10.6.8 or OS X Lion already installed
2 GB or more of memory
8 GB or more of available space

  • I re-installed Mountain Lion from a USB stick, and now my Apps can't be downloaded.  The App store indicates that the Apps are already installed, but that is not the case. Now what :)

I re-installed Mountain Lion from scratch of a USB stick, and now my Apps in the App store ca not be installed, the App store indicates that they are already installed, but that is not the case.  Now what?

Ok, this is somewhat of a better work around I've found:
Starting in the Australian iTunes store, I go through the process of signing into the UK iTunes store up until the point it asks for my credit card information.
I then click the 'X' in the top left of iTunes to exit the store.
Now when I click on my Apps Updates button it shows me what UK Apps I have that are available to update.
You can't download these as at this point I've changed the store I'm viewing, but haven't officially switched accounts. Not to worry.
I write down the names of the UK Apps to update.
Then, use the 'search store' field in the top right of iTunes to search for one of the Apps.
Once you've found it, click to buy it / download it.
iTunes recognises that the App is already in your account and downloads it again for free….
… now I'm HOPING that that App is now fully within my Australian account… unfortunately only time will tell once there is a new update for it.
    I'll let you know.

  • How to copy mountain lion to disc

I upgraded my MacBook Pro (2008) to Mountain Lion, which i purchased through the App store. I have loaded windows 7 onto my computer and am having difficulty using my mouse trac pad and other key board functions when I am using windows. I think I may need to insert my Mountain Lion driver disc and download it while I am in Windows. My problem is that since I purchased Mountain Lion through the App store I have not disc. Any ideas how to get my keyboard functions and trac pad to work in windows or how to get Mountian Lion onto a disc?

  • If I were to buy osx mountain lion from another computer, could I install it on a crashed macbook?

I crashed my system and cannot boot from disk or anyting else.  I'm not illiterate with computers, but this is a thing I'm stumped on.
I get the install screen/disk utility/ etc screen.  I cannot reinstall the software or repair it because it was not bought.  I found it on a third-party site.
it says that "your computer did not purchase Lion" therefore I can't reinstall/or repair/or reboot.
    mac is smart.
I want to know if I spend 20 on the new osx update on another computer with my apple id, could I install it on here.

Like you said, "mac is smart".
When the installer comes online and contacts Apple, sending your AppleID and the Mac's hostid, it knows you didn't purchase the cat for THAT specific Mac.

  • Track order changed when copying playlist to memory stick!

Help!! Everytime I try to copy a playlist to a memory stick by highlighting and dragging the track order gets completely jumbled and it's driving me nuts!!! How do I prevent this from happening??!! Thank you for any responses to this question!

    You cannot.
The playlist is sorted on any column in iTunes or by simply dragging the songs up/down as you want.
When you view the songs on the memory stick in Windows Exploder, it sorts by the column you are sorting on (filename is default).
You would need to add a track number of the playlist order to the filename to keep them in order.
