Copying of Update Rules

Hi,
I need to copy the update rules. Let me explain the requirement:
The standard business content in SD provides the update rules from InfoSource 2LIS_12_VCHDR to InfoCube 0SD_C03.
We have created an ODS (ZSD_O01) on the InfoSource 2LIS_12_VCHDR, with the one-to-one field mapping in the update rules.
As a result, the update rules from ODS ZSD_O01 to InfoCube 0SD_C03 are exactly identical to the Business Content Update rules between the InfoSource 2LIS_12_VCHDR and InfoCube 0SD_C03.
Can I copy (All) the update rules "between the InfoSource 2LIS_12_VCHDR and InfoCube 0SD_C03" and paste them for the update rules "from ODS ZSD_O01 to InfoCube 0SD_C03" ??.
If you right-click on any individual update rule line (Go to Change Update rules), you see two options: 1. Copy Rule (F6), 2. Copy Update Rules (Ctrl + F12). What is the purpose of these two?

Hi,
I hope update rules can be copied only if they are based on same Datasource.
For example if you want to copy update rules for Cube1 to cube2 it can be done only if these two cubes are based on same ODS or Infosouce.

Error while copy of Update Rules from ODS 0SD_O03 to InfoCube 0SD_C13

Hi all,
I work on a NW04s SPS9 System I would like to simply copy Update Rules (from an ODS to an InfoCube) from the BCT to the 1:1 Z-Copies of these Objects.
To do so, I copied the InfoProviders 0SD_O03 and 0SD_C13 to Z-Versions. In SAP BCT the InfoCube is updated from the ODS. The ODS itself is updated from InfoSource.
After successfully copying the two InfoProviders as next step I tried to copy the Update Rules from the Content version Objects to the Z-Version Objects to link them.
Similar to copying update rules in 3.5 I tried
- right click on "ZSD_C13"
- choose Additional Functions - Create Update Rules"
- choose DataSource: ODS Object "ZSD_O03"
- choose Copy from: InfoCube "0SD_C13"
This result in the error "0SD_C13 is not suitable as a template for copying update rules".
Some hints that might help:
1. The very same error occurs if I try to copy the Update Rules from 0SD_O03 to 0SD_C13.
2. I also tried to copy both Update Rules (to C12 & C13) on a BW 3.5 system where it worked fine: The update rules from both Z-ODSs to both Z-Cubes were copied correctly 1:1 and without any errors.
3. In the NW04s System I was able to copy the Update Rules from the InfoSource 2LIS_11_VAITM to 0SD_O01 (as well as from 2LIS_11_VAHDR to ODS 0SD_O03). So I only cannot copy Update Rules from ODSs to InfoCubes while it is possible to copy Update Rules from InfoSources to ODSs.
4. During copy of 0SD_O03 the system warned: "InfoObject 0FISCVARNT needs to be in key for DataStore object ZSD_O03". No matter whether I move this IO to the keys of the Z-ODS, the Update Rules copy does not work.
- This warning does not show up on BW3.5 when I copy the very same ODS. Can anyone explain this?
- This warning is not displayed during the copy of ODS 0SD_O01, just for 0SD_O03.
5. Obviously during a preceding test I actually must have been able to copy the Update Rules for another copy of 0SD_C13 (as I can see the Update Rules in the SAPGUI). I stopped this first test as I was not able to do the Update Rules copy for 0SD_C12.
Yet as of today I cannot copy Update Rules this for both cubes 0SD_C13 as well as 0SD_C12. So yesterday there was no error on copying the Update Rules to InfoCube ZSD_C13, but today there is. To my knowledge nothing has been changed in the System Setup / Customizing in the mean time.
6. For both cubes ZSD_C13 as well as ZSD_C12 it is possible to copy Update Rules that map from the BCT ODS to the Z-InfoCbes. So I can copy Update Rules from 0SD_O03 to ZSD_C13 and from 0SD_O01 to ZSD_C12. This would point in the direction that the copied ODSes are the source of this behavior?
I am not sure whether this is a special NW04s behavior and how to use it correctly so the Update Rules can be copied.
Please could you help on how to copy these Update Rules in NW04s or share your experience if you had similar?

Hi Vinod,
Check the update rules for the original cube. Are they active? It appears that they contain a formula...check this too.

We have standard Cube, now we want to make copy of that cube..........so we made copy of the cube......everything is fine.........now we wanted to copy the same update rules for the for this new cube..
i know by doing migration it is possible...........i.e 3.5 to 7.0
but my question is can we copy the update rule?????????.............i.e 3.5 to 3.5

I have made copy of old cube only...............so anyhow the structure of new cube will be same as old one.........
Also the source should be same for update rules..?????? - i did not get it.
The dataflow of old cube is like,
Infosource -> DSO -> DSO -> Cube.

We installed some Business content cubes along with the corresponding update rules. We want to do Z-copy of the cube. How do we copy update rule of a Business Content Cube (eg 0PUR_C01) to a Z-copy of the same cube (eg ZPUR_C01)?

We have a standard ODS which gets updated thru update rules from an Infosource. However, the next level Data Target (which is a Standard infocube) gets updated from the ODS. While doing the Z-copy of ODS I did have the original ODS as in the 'template' field in the 'create update rule' initial screen and I got the update rules copied in same way as it is with the original ODS. However, I am not sure what exactly I need to do for copying the update rules from the Z-ODS to Z-cube. What needs to be filled in the "template" field?

How can i copy the update rules (with routine) for a cube from the predefined update rules of some cube.
Like its giving error when i am creating update rule, with using the Template functionality in that.

Is there a possibility to copy update rules?

Hi All,
I have to load data from a number cubes into an ODS.
All of the cubes have exactly the same structure.
I created export data sources for all cubes and an uodate rule for one of these cubes with a start routine and a lot of routines for info objects.
When I try to use this cube as a template for update rules
of the other cubes, I get an error.
The entered InfoCube is not suitable as a template for copying the update rules
I there another way to copy update rules? I can't believe,
that I have to create the same rouitnes for each source.

I'm trying to create update rules for the same target from different
sources (export data sources with the same strucuture) and facing the mentioned error.

Error while copying Update rules from One Cube to other

I am getting the following error message while I was trying to copy an existing update rule from an existing InfoCube to a New InfoCube. Has anyone experienced this before? Please let me know how to resolve this.
Formula 3ZKQ....... (Object version M) could not be read.
The new and original cubes are custom cubes.

I am trying install 0SD_C03 from business content, however I am getting following error. Cube got installed properly.

But, when I installed FI-AP cubes, update rules are installed without any error. Is there any settings differs from FI to logistics datasources?

Copy Update Rule from Business Content

Hi All,
Currently I have activated some standard BI Content E.g. InfoCube 0FIAR_C03, DSO 0FIAR_O03, InfoSource 0FI_AR_4 and all the corresponding update rules.
Now I have copied both InfoCube and DSO into another customized version E.g. ZAR_C03 and ZAR_O03. I managed to copy the same update rule from InfoSource 0FI_AR_4 to ZAR_O03 using the template but I don't have the option of copying the same update rule from ZAR_O03 to ZAR_C03 using the same update rule of 0FIAR_O03 to 0FIAR_C03.
I know I have the choice to manually re-create all the details but is there any other workaround?
Please read through carefully my question. I have seen some forum asking to load data from 0FIAR_O03 to then ZAR_O03 then so forth.
Purpose of doing the above method is because I want to remain the business content as what it is and just to copy it to Z version for customization.

How to add a new char in Update rule

Hi Gurus:
I copied update rules from an old cube. This new cube is a copy of old cube - almost.
One of the char is missing in the new cube when compared to old cube. There is a small update routine for that char which I need to introduce to new cube.
My problem is, I'm not able to figure out how to add the new char in the update rule & start the mapping process..

When I copied - it defaulted this char with what present in comm structure. Basically the old cube has a routine for this char...
And the position of this char in the update rule for chars..got realigned.

Error when activating update rules

0RT_C36 cube shows --- stock per weeek (ocalweek)
My requirement is on daily wise .
So i copy the standard one 0RT_C36 and add the 0cal day.In update rule 0calweek has the reference feild posting date For 0calday i mapped with the same feild posting date . Error has occured when activating the update rule . Error is' No component exists whith the feild sid_calweek_f.

Hi,
The Automatic conversion in the update rules helps us map 0CALDAY of Info source to 0CALWEEK of the cube. So it is not a problem with this mapping.
These type of problem occurs especially when we copied update rules. So what we have to do is checking all mappings for corectness in the mapping.

ASSERTION FAILED error while migrating update rules

Hi all,
We are migrating the 3.x datasource for sd - lo cockpit.
Migration steps are as follows...
1. Make a copy of the infosouce. Activate it.
2. Migrate transfer rules. Activate it.
3. Migrate datasource.
4. Migrate Update rules for the respective info providers.
      But while migrating update rules ASSERTION_FAILED runtime error occurs.
       the assert condition was violated.
       CL_RSTRAN_TEMPLATE========CP or CL_RSTRAN_TEMPLATE======CM003
Please help i tried all the means to rectify but none succeds.
It is occuring for each datasource .

Hello
Assertion statement is like a conditional break point in ABAP. When you are trying to migrate the update rules,it is failing with Assertion statement it means there is some error with your update rules. Either the mapping is wrong or the the target to which it is mapped is in inactive state. Please check these and retry your migration.

ABAP Help at start routine of Update rule

Good After Noon All,
My requirement is that cube ZAPO_C24M theres an UPDR flowing from 8ZAPO_C24M back to itself so to speak.The request is to change the data in the cube from Fiscal Year Variant Z3 to Z4.
But in start routine i have to take the existing record and reverse all of the key figures, and also change the RECORDMODE of the record to indicate it is a reversal record. This for specific Country KR and for these country the Fiscal variant is Z3. Again in the start routine, create a new record identical to the existing record that has Fiscal Year Variant Z4 instead of Z3.
So the idea is wed load from the cube and send back to the cube one record that reverses out the existing data, and another record that contains the same data but with Fiscal Variant Z4 instead of Z3.
Please Help me.

In the start routine copy the DATA_PACKAGE to a local table.
Select the records where the specific country is KR.
Delete all other records.
Then read the records in loop, Keep one record same and just change the fiscal year variant.
And for the same multiply all the key figures by -1.
Transfer the content of the local table back to DATA_PACKAGE.
maintain one to one mapping in the update rule.
I am sure it will update, but you need to be sure that if you change Fiscal year variant then probably your fiscal period value should change. In that case you have to update it accordingly in the start routine.

Conversion of Update rule to new Transformation

I'm using BI 7.0 SP9. I have a scenerio where in I need to load standard cube 0SD_C03 cube from the standard extractors like 2LIS_11_VAITM etc..
Based on the the thread below I have done the follwoing steps.
how to migrate old transfer rule/update rule to new transformation?
- Activated Business content cubes, update rules, infosources etc...
- Done all the required work in Source system.
- Later migrated data sources.
- Now the problem comes, Based on the above tread I have gone to the context menu and selected "Tranforamation erzeugen". It asks to create new Infosource created a new infosource and the the transformation came up. But I can see its not mapped to Source system datasource. I mean its not linked to the datasource in Source system. Its just created in BW and when i load nothing happen. I understand this is not correct process.
But when it pops up for Infosource If I select existing Infosource I dont see the old one's just because they were migrated already.
Now how do I link with the source system with out creating transformation manually. because there are lots of standard routines in update which cant be rewriten in new transformation manually.
Please let me know if there is a way to directly copy them and also correct me If i'm doing some thing wrong.

As Alex said delete the existing datasources and try to replicate it again as 3.x datasources. The process will work fine.
When you replicate datasources it will pop-up screen for you to replicate as 3.x datsources or as a new datasource.
Whenever you will plan to migrate from 3.x to new one, do migrate update rule, and transfer rules first. As when you migrate datasource, it deletes existing update rules/transfer rules also. For each update rule/ transfer rule it will create transformation for you after migration.
After migration your scema will look like:
datasource (new)-> transformation( replacement for transfer rule)->infosource(new)->transformation (replacement for update rules)->data target.
Anyways when you will createmodel from scratch in 2004s system, i hope you know infosource is now more mandatory in 2004s system.

Record in DSO Active Table different from result of Update Rule Simulation

Hi,
I have a problem with the update of a particular Data Field for certain records via an Update Routine in 3.x Update Rules, from a Source DSO to one Target DSO.
The DSO Key is the same in the Source DSO and the Target DSO. The Update Routine for the particular (target) Key Figure performs a calculation based on a number of COMM_STRUCTURE Data Fields and gives the Result. For this specific record, the Result being written to the target DSO is 0.00 (It is an 'Amount' Key Figure).
Based on the Update Routine (which I have run through functionally), this is the incorrect result.
However, I have run Simulation for this record and the correct result is simulated into the Data Target. I have also run the simulation with Debugging on the Update Rules. Each component/step of the Update Routine is processed correctly, eventually giving the correct result.
I have tried to re-perform the load and I continually get the same result. This is occurring for a number of records being updated, but not all. Some records where the result of this Data Field is being calculated correctly are 'identical' in all important areas to the problem records.
The problem records all appear to be in the same Data Package, however that Data Package also contains records being processed correctly.
Based on the Simulation/Debugging it appears that the Update Routine is correct, however if anyone is willing to have a stab at this I am happy to send you the code.
Also, a short time ago, we took a copy back from our Production system to our QA system. As a result, this record exists in the QA system as well. I have performed the load there and the record is processed correctly. The Production and QA systems are in line.

Thanks for posting a response. This is an Update Routine rather than a Start Routine.
Also, in answer to the Sudhi's reply/post, Yes, the Update Type has been set to Overwrite.
The problem is actually only present in Production. Changes was made through our landscape some time ago (this is not my development).
These changes have been tested through QA and were working. It is only when a reload has taken place in production that this issue has been occurred. A reload has then taken place in QA and has worked successfully.
