I have an imac 2007 and i am trying to copy the operating system to no avail. my system first said 13 GB to copy everything. In the meantime my i phone synced with cloud and Now it says 34 GB to copy my system. Also I just made a new user acct on my computer and disk utility says Warning SUID file "System/Library/CoreServices/Remote Management/ARDAgentApp/ContentOS/ARDAGENT" has been modified and cannot be repaired, what does this mean? I had many disk permissions that were repaired

No need to copy the OS as it's already available on a DVD.
Ignore the disk repair message as everyone shows that file and a few others.

Copying Operating System to new internal harddrive

I recently purchased an upgrade of an internal 120GB hard drive and would like to copy my operating system to it. I tried using the disk uitily app to copy a disk image to it as a friend suggested, however it says it's unable to complete it because "Resource busy".
is there a way around this?

The first thing I would try is to update Acrobat 9 to the latest version 9.5.5
The next thing would be to run Acrobat 9 in Windows 7 or Vista or XP Compatibility Mode.

Where is your operating system now? Basically, you clone it from wherever it is now to the SSD:
Clone Lion/Mountain Lion using Restore Option of Disk Utility
Boot to the Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Select Disk Utility from the main menu then press the Continue button.
Select the destination volume from the left side list.
Click on the Restore tab in the DU main window.
Select the destination volume from the left side list and drag it to the Destination entry field.
Select the source volume from the left side list and drag it to the Source entry field.
Double-check you got it right, then click on the Restore button.
Destination means the SSD. Source means the drive now holding OS X.

I need to copy some files and put in another folder using the OS command as

Hi lony ,
If you want to copy then you should use oditools that is OdiFileCopy.
If you want to use scriptfile then put script file in directory accessible to ODI. Then use below codes in your oscommand or odioscommand.
/home/lony/scrpt.sh
Sometimes you may need to use environmental variable( as per requirement. ex: If odi can accesss all child directory in /home/lony but not in /home/test.).

Copy iDVDs to windows operating system

Hi,
I just want to copy home made MAC DVDs that are on disc (I have about 10 discs from various iDVD versions) to my Vista operating system so that I can back them up on to an external hard drive.
I have inserted the DVD on my Vista computer and copied the files (Video & Audio_TS) across to a folder but the movie will not play directly from the folder. I can however play the movie directly from the disc.
Do I need special software to transfer the DVD from disc to the Vista so that it can be played and backed up to an external drive?

iDVD creates standard-conform 'videoDVDs', playable on all DVDplayers, hard- or software.
the 'disk' content is all in the VIDEO_TS folder.
usually, any player-software should handle that for playback (e.g. the DVDplayer.app on your Mac does so.. ).
there's nothing special with iDVD-DVDs ...
my experience with Windows.apps is, it is often better, instead of just double-clicking a file, to launch the app manually, goto to its 'open file/folder' dialog and choose the approbate file by hand...
soooo... you should re-phrase your Q on some Vista board 'Why does my PC doesn't playback a VIDEO_TS folder' ...
or, use any other player.app on your PC "… there's sooo much more software for Windows!" .. but which one is functional?

Client copy between different operating systems.

Our production system is running on HP-UX OS. We are installing a standby quality system and planning to do a client copy to this system from production by taking this into transport domain. But this new system is in windows. So, is it possible to perform a client copy where the source system is HP -UX and target system is windows??

You need the computer's original disks to install Classic, and either those or a retail 10.3 through 10.5.6 DVD to install an OS on the machine. Phone AppleCare and ask if they still have replacements in stock, or check sites such as Amazon or eBay.

I have a copy of Windows XP Professional but when I lunched the Boot Camp Assistent program it prompt me with a box and asked if I wanted to install windows 7. Do I need a copy of the Windows 7 operating system or does it come with Boot Camp?
I'm confused with how Boot Camp works.

You need Boot Camp to create a space in which to install Windows, you must own a copy of Windows. You can only install Windows 7 or 8.
Read the Boot Camp documentation and make a backup of your Mac before you start.

Error occurred during operating system migration/Heteregenous system copy

How do I clone a fully operational system that relies on Windows 7 for the underlying operating system?

I'm a retired IT professional desiring to assist a friend who owns a small business who recently experienced very malicious attacks on her computers from unknown parties operating anonymously on the Internet. Because
of her lack of preparation for such events, her future ability to continue to conduct her business was seriously threatened. The incident revealed, to my friend, the need to be prepared to deal with spontaneously occurring problems that create suspicious conditions
that arise with modern computer software before they can be analyzed in a sufficiently comprehensive manner to have an opinion regarding the appropriate course of action for obtaining a permanent remedy. In that, the ability to quickly react on the basis of
only suspicion is the goal.
I want to recommend an approach that involves maintaining an offline image of an operational system that is capable of running any of her computers. This image needs to include all of the software required to run
her business. In that, it is not limited to the operating system. This single image could then be used to restore any computer to a known reliable state should the need arise. This technique will also insure that each computer has sufficiently similar capability
to allow them to substitute for each other. Insofar as image restoration is itself an operation susceptible to causing unacceptable business delay I'm also recommending that each of the identical computers (i.e., from a hardware perspective) operate in a multi-boot
environment where a virtually offline backup can be instantiated via a simple reboot (i.e., an operation that all users of the Windows operating systems turn to when strange behavior is first observed). My intention is to limit the cloned system (i.e., partition
or C: drive) to the operational software. The business data along with storage for temporary data will be isolated on other partitions (i.e, mounted with other drive letters) accessible by each instance of the software eligible for multi-boot operation.
This kind of operation is something that I know how to setup on older versions of the Windows operating system. However, Microsoft has now dropped support for all of those operating systems and my much more limited
experience with the currently supported operating systems reveals that changes to the boot process will necessitate making changes to the specific preparations needed to build such an environment.
Before recommending that my friend replace all of her computers with new ones, that includes paying for new operating system (i.e., Windows) licenses, I need some assurance that the new operating systems are as
good as the old ones in this respect. These need to be relatively inexpensive desktop computers and we're only talking about a few of them. Let's say fewer than half a dozen. My friend is a sole proprietor and even though her business has become completely
dependent on what was once called personal computers she must operate on a fairly tight budget. This especially includes the budget for technology.
The articles I've been able to find on the Microsoft support websites seem to treat multi-boot as a situation where someone is running different versions of possibly difference operating systems whereas my need
to produce a single image that will both run on multiple computers as well as multiple partitions on the same computer. I'd appreciate finding some technical advice that applies to building such a system using a supported version of Windows.

I tried the image creation/restoration described by Jared. I don't think it makes much sense to rely on an operational system to do such a restoration therefore I opted for method 3 which involves using a "System Repair Disk". My first
reaction is what a crude tool. The image creation process had no trouble putting the image on a simple network share. However, it appeared as though the restoration couldn't even connect with the device. I then copied the files to a USB drive.
In this case the repair disk said it couldn't find the files even though they were there. It offered no mechanism to even look and see what was there. It appears as though it will only find the image if it is located in a folder by the certain
name used on creation and it is in root directory. Not very handy.
As ugly as all that was when we finally come to the point of making the restore it looks like the only option is to restore the entire disk, which in my case would mean also restoring both the windows partition and the recovery partition. This just
isn't what I want to do. It is also something I wouldn't even consider doing unless it was the only possible way to recover from a failed hard drive.
In summary, unless I've completely failed to notice how it works that just isn't going to work.
I hope there is something better than this. What about WinPE and ImageX?
Absent anything useful from Microsoft it will be necessary to try using other software. Time to try Acronis! I guess.

Okay so I am not a computer expert by any means and have no clue how to fix my system. My father worked for intel for over 20 years as an engineer I asked him to restore my laptop to its original factory state and instead he cracked the master password
installed multiple operating systems and made himself the administrator or domain controller. Many features and options I do not have access to so reading the trouble shooting and going through the steps always leads me to a dead end. The laptop is TOSHIBA
SATELLITE L875D-S7332 a6 VISION AMD WINDOWS 8. As far as I can see my profile is actual running a version of windows 7. I do see reference to a windows 8RT windows 2003 windows vista wow64 and 32 I don't know what all that means I would just like to know how
wipe everything and get back to the factory condition I bought it in. If anyone can help it would be much appreciated

Do you have Win 7 installation disk? If yes, then go ahead and format the laptop if you don't need any data. If you need the data it it, then copy the same to USB disk and format it. Removing OS and deleting these things will anyhow keep some remains on
HDD. TO get the speed and performance back, you might need a fresh installation.
