Copying + pasting single keyframes rather than whole fx/filters??
Hi there -
Does anyone know of a way to copy and paste individual keyframes between clips, eg. scale, centre etc., ..like you can in Avid? The idea, obviously, is to avoid having to copy an entire move/effect/filter and then manually adjust your keyframe values by punching in the correct numerical values.
Any thoughts greatly appreciated....Thanks!!!
There's really not a way to do this, however could you just put that single keyframe in a clip for pasting many times?

Is it possible to use Aperture to make a new jpg from two existing ones? I'd essentially like to create a photo collage (without using existing templates) that I can then print as a single image, rather than in a book. Any advice will be most welcome! Thanks.

The main point is that Aperture is used to make digital negatives as good as they can be (for the uses you define), but it does not ADD date to your digital negatives, nor does it produce NEW combination files. For those tasks you need a Graphics program.

Refreshing a single portlet rather than the whole portal page
Ok, here's my situation.
I have two pdk portlets on my portal that communicate through page parameters. Portlet A has a bunch of search fields, a customer drop-down list, parts drop-down list, division, etc. Portlet B takes those parameters, queries the database, and displays the results. I would like to be able to refresh portlet B without reloading the whole portal page.
I have onchange events on all of my drop-downs that will do a javascript post back to portal, which will in turn set my page parameters, and I see there is a 'refreshPortlet' function in a javascript file that portal provides that will refresh a single portlet based on a portletReferenceId. It is normally called when a refresh button is clicked in the portlet header, but I don't see any reason I can't call it after my javascript post, that is, if I had the portletReferenceId for the other portlet. I thought about making a hidden html table on the page that, I could fill with the portlet names and ids for each portlet as they load, that way I could reference that list from any portlet. The problem is I can't figure out where the ids are coming from. Based on the code behind the button, the function is looking for something like this 646_701285_646_1_701271, but the closest thing I can come up with is this 676114_POSTCONTENTPORTLET_467414915 which I got from PortletRenderRequest.getPortletInstance().getInstanceName(). As you can see, it's not even close. Does anyone know where the correct id could be coming from? It's got to be available to me somewhere, doesn't it?
The only other option I can think of to accomplish my goal is to use straight up ajax to display portlet B, but that kind of defeats the purpose of portal doesn't it?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

DougYou can use Ctrl+F4 to close the current tab. I don't think that you can change the Alt+F4 action with Keyconfig.

I am using Outlook 2010 and I have set this as default. Furthermore, this does not seem to be recognised by Windows XP as it is not listed in IE8 options, programs drop down list. Very strange. Had no problems previously with Outlook Express.

Bug? Copy/Paste single quote from MS Word
I am not sure if this is a bug or not. Whenever I copy a text from MS Word that has single quotes in it (for example, This is just a 'test') and put it inside an af:inputText field, save the value in a Java bean then retrieve it for editing, the single quotes become an inverted question mark (i.e. This is just a ¿test¿) This is only happening whenever I copy the text from MS Word. Copying from Notepad or Wordpad as well as manually inputting the text do not produce the said bug.
Does anyone have an idea regarding this issue?

Syncing and single album rather than my entire itunes library.
I have an album I would like to move to my iphone. It is on a different computer than I normally use. I can link my iphone up but if I choose to sync with it, it will remove everything I have added from my other computer. I just want to add a single album, I don't want to sync with this second machine.
Is there a way to simply create a playlist on the second computer and then only sync that playlist without it removing everything else I already have on the phone?

ryanMan that is just crazy. How many of us have a PC for a work computer and a Mac at home. Obviously most people have music on both. Now, you are saying I can only pull music from one or the other. More so, I have two Macs and three PCs and due to HD space, etc... I don't want to keep all of my music on one machine. The fact that I can only bring music from one PC to another at any given time means I am going to have to setup a home network and a shared music directory so that all of my itunes can have the same files. I'll prbably need to go out and buy a huge HD to hold all of the music in a unified location. This is pretty lame since I can take my ipod anywhere and hook it to any machine and drag the files I want right onto it. That is a much preferable method. It is almost hard to believe they would have made this so restrictive. This phone is so cool and yet has so many of these potholes.

Removing result row value for a single KF rather than all KFs in a query.

Is it possible to remove the value in the result row of a query for a particular keyfigure? I want the the values in the result row for all the keyfigures except one. This particular keyfigure should have nothing in the result row. Is it possible in BEx Query Designer? Because my current setup doesnt allow me to use any other BEx tool other than query designer. Would appreciate if someone can provide me a solution for this using query designer. Helpful replies will be rewarded full points.

enter into query designer
open ur query
go to columns / rows
select ur keyfigure
on right panel u will see properties for that particular keyfigure
go to the Result row option
Select CALCULATE RESULT AS
then select SUPRESS/HIDE OPTION..
that way u can suppress the result rows for ur keyfigure. -
Make a script function as a single action rather than many
Basically I have a loop that changes all the paragraph and character styles in a document for a particular language.
As such however, every time someone runs it, if you need to undo you have to hold down ctrl+z for a while. I'd rather if it ran a bit cleaner in this regard.
Here is the script, please let me know what I need to wrap it in in order to do this. Also, I'm running cs4, however I'd like it to be scalable for cs3 and cs5 as well, as currently it already does. All the best

I have a great need to produce an APEX (version 2.2.1) tabular form in
which users would be able to do Excel-like copy/paste of tabular form
fields from one part of the form to another.
For example, a user would want to somehow (ideally highlight with the mouse - not sure if this is possible) select the first 2 rows of the form and then
copy/paste these to, say, rows 7 and 8, overwriting any values in
those form fields. Or, select field 2 (this would be on row 2) under column A and then copy/paste this field to, say, fields 3 through 10 under the same column A.
I am currently trying to do this using javascript, but am not sure how to go
about it and would appreciate any help or advice.

duplicating entire rows in the form.
I'm sorry for not responding sooner. I have been under the gun, sort-to-speak
at my work place. I've been playing with another tool (explained below) to see
if it could help me out with my application.
The issue before me is that users need the flexibility of an Excel like interface
in which they are able to do any sort of copy/paste/fill operations as desired
prior to submitting their changes to Oracle. This kind of functionality is what
I've been trying to, if not duplicate, at least get part way there in Apex. And
this is what spurred me on to post my question to you and to this Forum.
I went ahead and dabbled my way through all sorts of javascript (learned an awful lot, I might add) and have come up with a sample tabular form in which I'm able
to copy a single form field to any selected row / column combination in the form.
I've copied my app ( App 19379, Page 12 ) up to the Apex forum.

Originally, this app brought up a second page (Paste Page) as a popup in which
users could select which columns and rows they wanted to copy a form field to.
They would then click a "Go" button on this Paste popup page. This "Go" button
would then run a javascript function "do_paste()" in the calling page. This function
would copy the form field to the designated columns and rows. This worked fine.
However, I wanted a solution in which everything is entirely on a single page
rather than having a popup page appear.
And so, I modified my page 12 so that the user could designate the target
columns and rows entirely on the same page (page 12), and so, eliminate
the popup page.
This works to a point.
The user first clicks "Copy". This displays (via a javascript function) the
contents of the selected form field in a text box. This also displays the
target fields "From Column", "To Column", "From Row", "To Row".
The Copy button is replaced with a "Go" button. The user then designates
target columns and rows and clicks "Go". This causes the selected form
field to be copied to the designated targets.
Unfortunately, clicking the "Go" button also causes the page to be submitted.
This submit operation causes the form to be refreshed which then completely
erases the copy action and the form ends up with the original data. The user
does not see that anything has happened. However, under the wraps, my
javascript do_paste() function was invoked but then it's result was reversed
by the submit action.
I do not know how to get around this submit action (which refreshes the form,
thereby reversing my do_paste() function). I could, of course, bring back the
popup page. The paste does work with that. I was just hoping I could do the
copy/paste all on one page.
In any case, this represents my current state with respect to an Apex solution
to my need.
I did in the meantime find another interesting solution to my problem.
Years ago in another job I had worked with a tool called Oraxcel (now
called SQLXL - www.oraxcel.com). This tool is an add-in into Excel and provides an API between Excel and Oracle (as well as various other dbms systems: mysql, sql server, db2, etc.).
Well, I downloaded a free trial copy and have been playing with it.
In a nutshell, I can now allow users to continue using Excel to do
copy/paste/fill operations and provide [ via VBA buttons and macros
that interface with Oracle - actually it is using Oracle's product "Oracle
Objects For OLE (OO4O) ] them the ability to upload the excel data (new and
modified and deleted rows) to Oracle tables, download from Oracle tables (from a package/ref cursor or a table), create Excel LOVs that are dynamically populated from Oracle, and provide validations run from a package and display error
messages to the Excel page.
In effect, Excel becomes the "front end" to my Oracle schema.
As it turns out, in my particular application, Apex pages still play a critical role
as users need to interface with these as well. However, the SQLXL product
appears to be a neat solution allowing users Excel like flexibility to copy,
paste, fill, and other operations that Excel does so well while still interfacing
with Oracle.
Am still playing with this tool and built a small "proof of concept".

I would like to incorporate the neat way you're duplicating rows in the form
as I believe this will come in handy in naother APEX app I'm currently
working on in another project at my work place.

HT1382 how do I organize iTunes in Album folders, rather than artist/album.
The way iTunes organizes my music is not very organized for me. I would like to organize all songs from an album into a single folder, rather than having the album folders present with artists folder. Is there any way I can change the way iTunes organizes the songs in my media library?
I tried to see if I can export a playlilst that is organized by Albums rathre than artists, but there seems to be no options.iTunes has exactly one way to organize, and that is by artist/album.
If that is not what you prefer, then go into Preferences > Advanced, and make sure that "Keep..." and "Copy..." are both not checked. Then, for any new songs you plan to add to iTunes, put them in whatever folder you want them to be, and iTunes will be reference their current location, and will not move or change anything.
BTW, changing those settings will give you the correct handling of new additions, but will not change anything that is already in the library. Also, it does not affect any future items purchased from the iTunes Store. -
Copy paste text between documents bug

When I copy paste styled text (text or text containers) between CS6 (or CC) documents, the language for the text changes to a wrong one (from Finnish to English: British), along with the spelling of course. The style does follow correctly to the fresh new document, but ID makes an exception to the style for this pasted text (Style1+). The transferred style itself still has the correct language defined.
Doesn't happen when copy pasting within the same document.
All default languages are correct (default and within styles). Deleting preferences did nothing.
Anyone else has this? Any suggestions on how to correct this. I seem to remember there was something like this ages ago too.Thanks Uwe

• Save as or IDML: no change, same problem.
• Snippet: language does remain correctly Finnish!
• ID5.5: no problem at all! Language remains correct.
So, this is my persistent problem:
• Any text with a style on it becomes (as a local exception to style) wrong language when copy-pasted or dragged as a whole page between docs.
• The styles them selves transfer correct. Clicking style for each paragraph again sets the correct language (but the original local adjustments are lost).
• No style has [Basic Paragraph] as a parent and [Basic Paragraph]'s and the general default language are Finnish, too. The wrong language (English: British) is not used anywhere.
• Text with no style remains correctly Finnish (target default).
• IDML: same problem. Save As: same problem.
• IDMS: language remains correct.
• Trashing preferences doesn't help.
• New user account doesn't help.
• Effected versions: ID CC (9.1 fi), ID CS6 (8.0.2 fi). CS5.5 (7.5.1 en) is not effected. System is Mac 10.8.5 (fi).
• CC has no extra plugins. CS6 and CS5.5 have Suitcase (F4) plugin only as extra. -
Why does iPhone rate whole album when it syncs to iTunes rather than just single song sometimes?
I wasn't sure if this should be an iTunes or iPhone discussion, so here goes!
I am very particular about rating my music. Every day at work, as songs play on my iPhone, I give them a star rating. This star rating then transfers to iTunes when I sync my phone. Most times, these ratings go through just fine. Sometimes, however, rather than just rating a single song with three stars on an album... It'll give the whole album in iTunes three stars. (Three stars is just an example.)
What I mean is that if viewing an album list, the album rating will be hard coded per se on the left and give all the songs three stars even if I never listened to / rated them. I can then click to remove the rating on the album on the left, and the unrated / unplayed songs will lose that hard coded rating and return to no rating.
What am I doing wrong? Lol. It drives me crazy! Once a month I view all my albums as a list so I can remove the hard coded ratings. There are usually six or seven albums that'll have it. I do nothing different on the iPhone that I am aware of.
Has anyone else experienced this situation or have a solution? I'm on an iPhone 4S, latest software. This also occurred with my iPhone 3GS

How do I copy and paste multiple keyframes?
I've used previous versions of Final Cut in the past, but primarily have done my editing with Adobe Premiere. One of the companies I am freelancing for only has Final Cut X on their machines. I'm a bit confused about keyframes. Keyframing in the inspector seems severely limited. I could use some help.
Basic example: Say I want to zoom and pan into an image... then have it sit there for 5 seconds... then zoom and pan back to its original location. I can't figure out how to do this at all with Final Cut X.
In Premiere I would accomplish this extremely easily.
#1 I'd set my playhead at the location I'd like START my zoom IN/pans and set all my necessary keyframes.
#2 Then i move my playhead to where I'd like to END my zoom IN/pans, change all my parameters and this sets my necessary keyframes.
#3 I move my playhead further to where I'd like to START my zoom OUT/pans to where it originally was... and set all my necessary keyframes
#4 I move my playhead to where I'd like END my zoom OUT/pans to where it originally was... and simply copy and paste my keyframes from step 1...
The reason why I copy and paste my keyframes from step 1 is because often my parameters are very specific. I'm not necessary zoomed in 100% at the beginning with my position set exactly where it needs to be. Say, for instance, I'm working with an image that is zoomed at 75% and perfectly positioned at some random position somewhere in my frame... without the ability to cut and paste keyframes, I'd have to go back to keyframe 1 and write down all the parameters... then go to keyframe 4 and re-enter them. Massive pain in the butt.
How is this properly accomplished in Final Cut X? I can't even see my keyframes on the timeline... every tutorial I've found just says "set keyframe 1 and keyframe 2 in the inspector" and that's incredibly limiting.That is kind of a bummer, really. Maybe I'll need to adjust my workflow, but it seems like it's a MASSIVE drawback of Final Cut X.
For example:
Say I have an image on the screen at with Postion X: 97.3px and Position Y: -69.3px with the zoom set to 136.3%... (keyframe 1)
And say I want to move that image across the screen to Postion X: 32.5px and Position Y: -23.5px with a zoom set to 85.3% ... (keyframe 2)
Then say I want to let it stay in that position for 10 seconds ... after 10 seconds I'll set more keyframes by clicking the appropriate keyframe buttons and the settings will once again be set for Postion X: 32.5px and Position Y: -23.5px with a zoom set to 85.3% ... (keyframe 3)
Now say I want it to go back to the original position and zoom. In premiere I'd just highlight all my keyframes from Keyframe 1 and paste at the new location of the playhead... with Final Cut X, i'll need to go back to Keyframe 1 and literally write down on a piece of paper: 97.3, -69.3, 136.3% ... then go back to Keyframe 4 and type them all out. This is just a simple example, though. The more individual parameters I'm setting at specific points... the bigger pain this will be. Lame.
Even with the link you shared... it appears to be completely amature compared to the keyframe editing capabilities of Premiere Pro. In searching a bit on google to confirm the lack of features, I found someone else complaining:
"You cannot expand any parameter that has more than one attribute (like crop or scale or position) - making it useless.
You cannot add bezier handles to keyframes
You cannot copy and paste keyframes
When you copy and paste attributes, you have no choices as to how they will be pasted, etc... it is dismal.
All in all, it is a step backwards from FCP"
Personally, I'm a bit surprised... the more I learn about Final Cut X, the more I am starting to like it. I know a lot of professionals hated it when it initially came out, but I chaulked it up to unfamiliarity with the new software. For me, this keyframing thing is by far the biggest drawback I've found to yet. -
Preview copy on PDF files produces a raster rather than a vector
I used to open PDF files with Preview and copy stuff out of it, then paste it in Keynote (or anywhere else) and obtain vector graphics.
Since some time when I copy stuff out of a PDF file I get an image, rather than a vector graphics. This is evident when you try to rescale the image and looses quality, whereas the vector does not.
This seems to be something that has to do with Preview, since if I open the same PDF with Skim and I copy anything out of it I get a vector, that scales perfectly when I paste it in Keynote.
Any idea what is going on with Preview? (on 10.9.5)
