Please detail all you have done to resolve your issue. Need this information so that the users can avoid the +"been there, done that"+ scenario type responses. This is to avoid repeating the troubleshooting you may have already tried. Thank you.
Regarding the KB Article the OP posted, sometimes if you repair permissions and restart your computer, your DVD/CD will appear on your desktop if that is your problem.

  • Copying hangs when copying large files from DVD

I'm having trouble copying large files (>2GB) from DVDs to my built-in hard drive. When I drag the file icon from the DVD window to the desktop, the progress bar pops up almost immediately, and says "0 KB of 2.3 GB copied" and "Estimated time left: 1 minute" -- and then it just sits there, doing nothing. In some cases, after five minutes or so of inactivity, the copy finally begins... but most of the time it never does. Force-Quit doesn't help; the only way out is to do an emergency restart and try again.
This problem began when I upgraded to Tiger, and several members of my office group have been experiencing the same problem on their own computers as well.
I've poked around the forum looking for answers but the only thing I could find that looked related was a conflict between iSight and some third-party external hard drives... but none of us have iSight, and none of us are using third-party external drives, so clearly that's not the issue we'rehaving.
    Any help out there?
    iBook G4   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

Michael, I occasionally notice anomolous behaviour when files get dragged between volumes. Mostly the copying window shows an accurate and immediate indication of what's going on, but other times it just looks like nothing's happening, the display never changes, yet, it is in fact copying the files over. Now, if you're copying 2gb files from DVD to HD, it's gonna take some time, more than 5 minutes, so I'm wondering how long you've left it before forcing it to quit?

  • LINK TO A PDF FILE WITH DVD ACCESS

    Hello to everybody!
This is the first time I use this discussions area.
I'm desperate! I used the manual and all kind of online helps but still can't figure out how to link a pdf file inside dvd studio pro3. I enabled the dvd access but it doesn't work! I guess maybe it's something I do when a write the path where the file is or maybe the way I organize my folder! Anyways the thing is that it doesn't work not even in the simulation mode.
Please help me!! Thank you very much!
    Daria

    Hi Daria,
    Have a look at:
    http://www.kenstone.net/fcphomepage/dvd_access_linkfile.html
    or
    http://www.lafcpug.org/tutorials/basic_dvdaccess.html
It contains a pretty good tutorial and sample files on how to do this. It can be done and it also works on Windows if the PC enabler [email protected] is included as indicated in the tutorial.
    Cheers,
    Uwe

  • .PDF files in DVD ROM content

I am using a Mac and Encore CS4. I am trying to include a .pdf file as DVD ROM content. Whenever I try this, all .pdf files are "grayed out" and I can't use them. Adobe Acrobat Reader 9 and Adobe Acrobat Pro are both installed on the computer. I can read .pdf files outside of Encore.
    Any help would be appreciated.

To add to Ruud's comment. When adding DVD-ROM content (Build tab; about half way down), you cannot add files; you must add folders. But you can have anything you want inside the folder.
If you really want the file at the root of the DVD (i.e. not in a folder), build from Encore to a DVD folder without the file(s). Then use ImgBurn, add the Video_TS folder and any other files, then burn. I've never done this before, so I did a quick test (but I am CS3). Such a disk plays as a DVD in a set top DVD player and on a PC through wmp, and, on the PC, I can open the file from the disk.

  • How to copy pdf files from computer to ipad

how to copy pdf files from computer to ipad

You can PDFs to the iPad, but first you need one or more apps on the iPad that supports PDFs - unlike a 'normal' computer the iPad doesn't have a file system, and everything on it has to be associated with an app.
Options include free apps such as Apple's iBooks app and also Adobe Reader - and paid-for apps such as GoodReader (which also supports read-only of other documents types).
For iBooks you can first add the PDFs to your computer's iTunes via File > Add To Library, and you can then sync them by selecting the iPad on the left-hand sidebar of your computer's iTunes (on iTunes 11 you can enable the sidebar via option-command-S on a Mac, control-S on a PC) and using the Books tab on the right-hand side to select and sync them.
For Adobe Reader adnd GoodReader you can use the file sharing on the Apps tab on the right-hand side to copy them over : http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4094

  • Can't copy large files from DVD

    Hi all,
I'm trying to copy a 4.3 GB .tar file from a DVD onto my harddrive, but it will only copy about 1 GB before I get the error
    Cannot read: Input/output error
I can copy smaller files just fine from the same DVD and other DVDs, but nothing too large.
    Does anyone have any suggestions?
    Thank you.

Brasero checks immediately after the burn. I presume your DVD is a bit older than one day . If not, you just burnt yourself a coaster.
I know there are some Windows programs to check the integrity of an optical disc, but I don't remember their names (nor do I know something like that for Linux).
I would do a few copy trials, with dd. If you always see it break on the same size and you have plenty of space left, then I think there really is a problem with the data integrity on your DVD. I have done copies with dd from optical media before, and I think you can be pretty sure the data is corrupt if dd can't pull it off.

  • Copying pdf files

I have a subscription to a local newspaper.  I have downloaded the pdf version.  I wanted to put specific pages on my kobo using the Adobe Digital Edition.
It can see the pdf's but when I drag them into the ade it changes their name to pages.pdf and under the title it says proc.  It changes all of the pages name
to that.  When I try to download another page to my ereader I get a Copying Documents box that says:
    An item with the title:
    pages.pdf
Already exists at this location.  What would you like to do?
    Skip File
    Duplicate File
    Replace File
Do this for all remaining files
then I have a choice of ok or cancel.
How can I get more than one page onto my ereader?  Any suggestions are appreciated.

It depends on where the PDF files are on the iPad. If they are in iBooks, then when you sync with iTunes, they should end up in the books section of your iTunes library. You can drag the PDF out of iTunes if you want a copy on the desktop.
If you are using an app that supports file sharing you can find then in the documents window when you sync with iTunes and after you click on the app in the file sharing window in iTunes.

If you are totally stuck, you can email the PDF files to yourself or you can use DropBox or another cloud sync service to move PDF files to your Mac.

  • How to copy pdf files into Iphone ?

Can any kind soul pls help

I view PDF files (along with other file types) with an App called FILES. It cost £2.99 but is well worth it if you have the need to view files on the move. Files are added on to the iPhone via a WIFI connection, once there are transferred, you do not need a WIFI connection to view the added files, they are viewable anytime.
If you look on iTunes or the developers website http://www.olivetoast.com/Files/ it tells you what files it will view.
Here's a description of what the FILES App can do:
Files allows you to store and view files on your iPhone or iPod touch. Connect to Files via Wi-Fi from any Mac or PC and drag and drop files straight from the Finder or Windows Explorer, as you would with any other shared folder. In fact any client which understands the WebDAV protocol can connect to Files.
Set a passcode to secure local access to Files, and a username and password to secure remote access.
Files supports viewing of most common file types, including most Microsoft Office documents, PDF, RTF and RTFD documents, images, text, html, movie and audio files. You can quickly and easily read documents and view images, all fullscreen and in portrait or landscape mode. Zoom and pan via the standard pinch and swipe gestures.
Add bookmarks to longer documents; use search to find and filter files easily; delete unwanted documents with a simple swipe and tap; set a username and password to secure your data; Files has it all covered.
With Files you can take documents with you wherever your iPhone or iPod touch goes, view them and transfer them easily to any compatible Mac or PC.

  • How To Copy pdf file to word

I would like to save file from pdf to word. How I can do that? Please give me for detail?
    Regards
    Dean

    Hi Mike, hi Bart,
thanks for the suggestions. Challenge with .doc documents is often that they get displayed differently on different systems, and lots of people just do it in really crappy ways (not using styles, or using them completely wrong).
Copying from PDF to word works if there's not much formatting, but in most cases it messes things up from my experience.
I'll be looking for convert from PDF to word stuff. Thanks again,

  • Making it difficult to copy pdf files

    Hello all,
We manufacture instruments for science lab use. We would like to publish instruction manuals of these instruments in pdf format on our website.
I would like to know, if there is any way we can make it 'difficult' for other companies similar to ours to copy our matter, line diagrams, images etc. from these manuals for their own use. My searches on the net have shown that not matter what, copy-protected pdfs can still be hacked. I'd just like to know how to make things difficult for them. In fact, we don't really care if the text gets copied... But we'd like to protect the images that we will be using in the manuals. Any pointers or helpful advice, please?
    Regards,
    Mohit.
    www.BioZen.co.in

There's really not much you can do other than to set security preventing copying the content.
And as you mentioned, it is very simply to get around. A two minute download for the application that ignores the security and 3 seconds to open the file without the security.
You COULD use Digital Rights Management but that is a server side solution costing in the tens of thousands.

  • How to copy a file onto DVDs that's too big for a single DVD

The file I want to copy is about 9 GB. I would like to copy it to 2 or 3 DVD's, whatever it takes. But when I go to burn the file and insert a DVD, the system doesn't give an option to burn to more than one disc. What to do?

You need a 3rd party program to do this (unless you want to use Terminal and split).
Toast is pricy, Disco is free.
I use Toast, never used Disco.

  • Cannot copy tagged pdf files to device with ActiveSync

I am using a Dell Axim X50V running Windows 2003 second edition. I have Acrobat Reader 2 for ppc installed which reads files with no problem. However, when I try to copy files to my device using Active Sync, it will only let me do so if I select the option *not* to convert them to tagged files. If the option to convert to tagged files is selected, it tells me that "There was a problem backing up your Synchronised Files folder" and "Conversion failed. The specified module could not be found." It then suggests I haven't got enough memory (which I have), or the files are read-only (which they aren't), or that I don't have permission to copy this file type.
If I try copying pdf files to my device via Active Sync without converting them to tagged files, it works without any problems, but I can't reflow.
Is there an easy way to persuade Active Sync to copy tagged pdf files to my device?
    Katie

I just solved this problem on my computer. This may or may not apply to you, but let me tell you what I found.
When active-sync tries to move a PDF file to your PDA, the first thing it does is look for the tools it needs to tag that file.
To find these tools, it goes to the folder where you first installed Adobe 2.0 on your computer. In my case, I moved that folder, thinking I could conserve hard disk space. You might also have deleted that folder, thinking it was no longer needed once Adobe 2.0 was on your PDA. In my case, once I put those files back in the same place where they were installed, the functionality was restored.
I hope this helps. good luck!
