Copying photos to ipad

Hi,
Have just purchased an ipad2. How do I copy photo albums to it from my wife's iMac please?
Many thanks.

Read the manual:
You will find the manual on your iPad in Safari.
Open Safari on the iPad and then click on the Bookmarks icon (little book image) in the menu bar. The iPad manual is at the bottom of the list of bookmarks.
Or you can get a PDF version in the iPad iBooks application, it is free.
Or you can read it on the internet here:
http://manuals.info.apple.com/enUS/ipad_2_userguide.pdf
You need Chapter 9 - Page 69.

  • Can not copy photo to Ipad

I can not copy photo to Ipad. Itunes appear meesage "Some of your photos, including the photo “SAM_0100.JPG”, were not copied to the iPad “Sunrise Tan’s iPad” because they cannot be displayed on your iPad." Can anyone help?

Try deleting the photo cache from your computer and then re-try the photo sync and see if they then copy over - the location of the cache, and how to delete it, is on this page http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1314

  • How to copy photos from iPad that don't appear when plugged in to PC or in web based Photo Stream?

    Hi all,
Got a real doozy of a problem.  Had a load of photographs on an iPhone 5 which synchronised via Photo Stream onto our iPad. iPhone 5 has just stopped working due to water damage and we've lost access to the photos.  However, the photos we have lost all come up under Photo Stream on the iPad. We need to copy these photos off so I plugged the iPad into our laptop and navigated to the images through Explorer but they weren't there. So I the added the iCloud control panel to our laptop and browsed to Photos folder and clicked on Photo Stream and there are about 350 photos in there but about 600 on the iPad.  I really need to get these photos back an just can't find a way of getting them back.  Would really appreciate some help please.
    Thanks
    Adam

The photo stream server only keeps photos up to 30 days.  Once on a device's photo stream album, they stay there until you delete them on the device or turn off photo stream.  In your case, when you turned on photo stream on the PC, you only got what was available from the server, the older ones have been deleted.
Now, about the ipad.  In it's photo stream, you can view each photo, the icons at the bottom of the view screen includes a box with arrow coming out of it (on my iphone, the icon is at the bottom left).  When you tap that icon, you then get a choice to save to Camera Roll.  What you need to do is save all the photos you no longer have on the PC from the ipad's photo stream to Camera Roll.  This could take time.
Once these are in camera roll, sync the photos from the ipad to your computer.

  • How do I copy photos from my Mac to my iPad without deleting the ones that are there?

I understand how to sync photos from my iPhoto library to my iPad. I want to copy photos from my Mac to the iPad without syncing, because syncing deletes everything on the iPad that isn't included in my sync selections. In addition,I have several iPhoto libraries and want to copy photos from each of them to the iPad. A further issue is that apparently photos can be synced from only one computer to the iPad -- how would I copy photos from a different computer? (What happens when I buy a new Mac?) I am extremely experienced with Mac, iPhoto/Aperture, iPad, etc. A year or two ago I transferred 1000 photos to the iPad but I don't remember how, and it was probably done with my previous Mac. Now I just want to add some recent photos without deleting the ones that are there. Bottom line: is there a way to add photos to an iPad without syncing and losing what's there?

You can still sync the photos and keep the photos that are already on the device. You have to include all of the albums or events in the pictures folder that you sync from. If you are using iPhoto, select that in the Sync Photos from drop down menu and then select all of the albums or events that you want to sync. Make sure to check Selected Albums, events, faces and automatically include (no events). Using that option will allow you to choose exactly which albums and events to sync.
You have to remember that all photos must be included in every sync so you cannot sync photos from iPhoto today and then try to sync photos from another folder tomorrow, or you will erase all of the photos that were synced from iPhoto. You need to maintain one main Photos syncing folder for the photos that you want to transfer to the iPad. You can have subfolders within that one main folder and you can selectively sync those subfolders. You just have to place all of the photos that you want to sync into one main iPad syncing photos folder.
There are WiFi transfer apps that allow you to transfer photos to the iPad without having to sync with iTunes. I use this one. This app (and others like it) will allow you to use multiple computers to transfer photos.

How did the photos that you want to copy off get on the iPad  ? To copy photos to your computer that were taken with the iPad, copied to it via the camera connection kit, or saved from emails/websites then see this page - on a Mac you should be able to use iPhoto, Aperture or Image Capture
To copy photos that were originally synced from a computer you will need a third-party app on your iPad such as Simple Transfer which can copy them off via your wifi network. But as photos are 'optimised' when they are synced to the iPad, any that you then copy back to a computer may not be exactly the same as they originally were on your computer.

how can I solve this error message? "Some of your photos, including the photo “IMG_0374.jpg”, were not copied to the iPad “(my name’s) iPad” because they cannot be displayed on your iPad."
There were 273 photos in the event syncing from my Mac, but only the last 103 made it to the ipad. Most of the photos were taken by an iphone. I would appreciate any thoughts or insights - thanks.

    Adrian-
That error message suggests the photo is somehow corrupt.
Do you have the Apple Camera Connection Kit?  You can set up a USB thumb drive with MS-DOS FAT-32 format and copy your photos to it into a folder named DCIM.  Assuming they have an 8 character plus suffix name, the iPad will recognize them and give you the option of transferring them via the Kit's USB adapter.
Once they are transferred, you can find out if there is a problem with any.

    Hi beerexpert,
I'm sorry to hear you are having issues with your iPad. If you are having unusual menu or option behaviour, you may want to try restarting/resetting your device, as outlined below:
Restart or reset your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support
You may also want to double-check that you have available space, as noted here:

  • Hi there. Can someone please help me with copying photos from my old iPad to my new one? Thanks.

Hi there. Can someone please help me with copying photos from my old iPad to my new ipad2? Thanks.

If you have a pc, when you plug your iPad in you should see the windows pop up window offering to backup the photos. Do that and it will save all your photos and videos to your computer where you can then sync them back to your new one.
If the pop up doesn't come up, double click on my computer and navigate your way to the iPad. Double cick on it an d navigate to the DCIM folder. Drag your photos and videos to your pc, then sync them back onto your iPad.

How do I reorganize my photos on iPad 2?  I need to move (not copy) photos from one album to another.  When I use the copy function to another album, and then try to delete an image from the original album, the system wants to delete the photos from all albums.  Please help.

You can't do it directly on the iPad - the new album functionality basically only allows you to copy photos into those new albums, you can't move them. The way that I think of it as working is that you are just creating pointers to the photos in those new albums, so if you then delete the original photo on the iPad you therefore automatically delete all the pointers to it.
If you want to re-organise your albums then you will need to do it on your computer and then sync those albums over to the iPad
