Copying pictures to edit

hola!
i copied my original picture, put it in another folder and edited the copy. i went back to the original just to make sure it was the same, and yep it wasn't. totally edited as well. so, how do i copy a picture to edit it for fun, and keep the original. also, if known, i downloaded all my pics and put them in one folder, then went and added albums to iphoto, copied and divided the pictures into their respective time periods. i changed the names of the copied picture, but again, it changed the originals as well. how can i keep my originals the same exact way as i downloaded them, and mess around with their copies?????

You need to learn how iPhoto works - there are many good videos under the iPhoto help menu ==> iPhoto help
iPhoto ALWAYS keeps your original exactly as imported and you can go back to it at any time by right clicking on a photo and restoring original
You also need to learn the language of iPhoto if you are going to communicate - iPhoto has events (automcatically generated when you import photos, albums which you create and which hold photos and folder which you create and hold either albums or other folders - folders do not hold photos
iPhoto is a database program and the photos are in events - photos in albums are just database entires pointing to the photo in the event so any change made to that photo from any place affects the photo i n all places
If you want multiple copies of photos to play with (usually this is not necesary) simply select the photo and depress the commmand key and the "D" key to Duplicate the photo - now you two distince copies which have no efect oneach other
If you want photos divided into time periods you cando it on the fly using the search window in thelower left or using smart albums

Why is it so hard to copy pictures from my iPhone to my iPad?

I want to use iCloud to backup both my iPhone and iPad, but not any of the pictures on these devices. I want to backup the pictures to my iMac, since they take up so much space. What is the best way to do this? What is the correct way to copy pictures from my iPhone to the iPad without using any 3rd party apps? I figured out how to import pictures from my iPhone into iPhoto. I unplugged my iPhone and plugged in my iPad. Then I tried dragging and dropping the pictures, within the iPhoto application, onto the iPad. This doesn't work. Then I tried dragging and dropping them onto the iPad in iTunes. This also doesn't work because I get a message telling me that my iPad can't play jpegs. I eventually figured out I had to open my ipad in itunes and change my backup settings from icloud to "this computer". Then I click on the photos tab at the top and find my album and sync it. But when I sync it is also syncing everything else to the computer as well, which is something I wanted to handle with the icloud. It seems like it is intentionally difficult to succeed in the way I want to, just so I am forced to buy extra storage space on icloud. This is very frustrating. Any help is much appreciated.

I can't see why it has too many steps? I transferred all my camera roll to my PC (yep, not a Mac) when I needed to do a restore. Then told iTunes to sync that folder, and wow, they're back on my iPhone! I'll get to the point where I'll will put them into their own folders according to the event, and syncing will magically sort them out on my iPhone too. If I later want to add more photos to that event, I just drag and drop into that folder. iTunes will pretty much sync my iPhone everytime it's connected anyway, so it's no effort at all.
With the amount of hard drive storage space available to pretty much every PC/Mac these days, it's not really an issue having a backup of wallpapers, is it? Will it honestly affect the space you'll have available for everything else?

Hi,
I have following problem. I would like to copy picture of graph to clipboard through graph “run-time shortcut menu”. It’s easy when I want copy exactly what I see. There is an Item Tag: APP_SC_COPY_DATA. That works nice. Try an example1.vi. (Run then right click on the graph...)
But problem is when I want to change the graph appearance before copying (only change the colour of the graph to be more printer-friendly). I have created a subVi with copy of the graph with changed colour. But how to simulate for the graph inside the subVi same runtime shortcut event? How to call APP_SC_COPY_DATA of subVi graph from outside Vi?
I hope I’ve explain it clear.
If you have better method for clipboard copying tell me.

Copying pictures to computer I am seeing multiple "LOCAL DISK" icons

Copying pictures to computer I am seeing multiple "LOCAL DISK" icons in DCIM subfolder that were not there prior to ios8 upgrade. Are they supposed to be there or is it possible virus?

edit: nevermind - problem solved.
To the OP - It's not a virus, it appears to be a new way Apple has updated it's photos section that summarizes certain elements of each photo. I found that if you scroll down, you'll find your pictures (if that's what you were looking for).
I also found that you can still "right mouse click" the iPhone icon in My Computer and "import pictures and videos" with no issue.

Bug? Cannot copy pictures to album

I am having this problem in iPhoto 09: I cannot copy pictures to a new or existing album, but only in one circumstance.
Try this:
- Click on Library, Events
- Double click any event in order to display all photos.
- Select a photo but do not double click
- Press Enter in order to view the picture for editing. Notice the ribbon above which displays thumbnails of all photos and the selected photo.
- Use the left mouse button to drag the photo to any album.
- The photo will NOT be copied to the album!
This ONLY happens when copying photos from this ribbon view, not when opening a picture by double clicking or dragging it without opening it. This WAS fine in iPhoto 08. I have tried this on two Macs with the same results.
Is this a bug? Do you have this as well?

I can confirm that this happens +only when in Edit mode+.
It works exactly as it should in Organisation mode.
I'm not sure it's a bug. It strikes me as intentional. After all I can't drag anything to another Album (i.e Organise) when I'm in edit mode.
I don't recall this being a feature of iPhoto 08.

Firefox will not copy pictures from webpages

As a new feature in Firefox 12, when you copy an image, Firefox stores HTML code for the image so that it can be pasted into Gmail (and presumably some other online rich text editors). As you have discovered, there were some unintended side effects to this change. What do I do if I get "Running out of Application Memory" when no applications are open except finder and just copying pictures to Seagate?

Your problem is excessive swapping of data between physical memory and virtual memory.
That can happen for two reasons:
(1) You have a long-running process with a memory leak (i.e., a bug), or
(2) You don't have enough memory installed for your usage pattern.
Tracking down a memory leak can be difficult, and it may come down to a process of elimination. In Activity Monitor, select All Processes from the menu in the toolbar, if not already selected. Click the heading of the Real Mem column in the process table once or twice to sort the table with the highest value at the top. Repeat with the Virtual Mem column. If one process (not including "kernel_task") is using much more memory than all the others, that could be an indication of a leak. A better indication would be a process that continually grabs more and more memory over time without ever releasing it.
If you don't have an obvious memory leak, your options are to install more memory (if possible) or to run fewer programs simultaneously.

Here are some suggestions. Perhaps others will have even better ideas.
1 -- for viewing on a Windows computer, you can experiment with making a PSE Organizer slide show creation in which you specify to show the captions. Then save the Output of the slide show as a WMV file that the recipient could play on a computer with Windows Media Player.
If you have a DVD burner on your PC, you can also use that WMV file as input to the Windows 7 DVD Maker program for making a TV playable DVD. And if your recipient(s) who will view on a computer have DVD readers, you could make video DVDs playable on computers or TV DVD players instead of using CDs.
The limitations of this approach are that this wmv file you create is really a video file so
-- it advances photo slides at the rate specified when you create the slide show
-- the choices to save a wmv file are not very high resolution so that recipients who have high resolution monitors will not see the photo images are not getting the benefit of seeing the photos at their best
-- your recipients can't print from this video slide show
2 An entirely different approach is to
-- For each individual photo, make a copy of the photo file and depending on how high resolution your originals you might want to resize down to monitor viewing sizes.
-- Then use the PSE Editor Text Tool to place the caption on a layer above the photo. (I think that you could display the existing caption and then do a copy and paste so that you don't need to retype everything.)
-- You should save this photo copy with the text as a uniquely named JPEG file. Use the file names to control the sequence in which you want the viewer to see the photos. (Don't save as a PSD because others probably can't read the PSD format).

Ya is my destination folder I put all my picture in this folder. and then I right click on it --> and then go to get info after that --> this dialogbox window apear and I change all the permission to read and write. when I open light room and import the destination folder Ya. Are you sure you have the right printer?
In UNIX/OSX printers are virtual links to devices and even with the same name can be trying to reach a printer via another network address, so it thinks it is another printer.

Copy pictures from windows to iPhone

I'm using iTunes on a Win7 PC and want to copy pictures to my iPhone. I created a root or base folder called iPod Pictures (I had an iPod touch) and in that folder are a bunch of other folders containing the pictures. NO pictures are stored in the root folder, only additional folders with the picture files. When iTunes copies those pictures to my iPhone it duplicates all the pictures. One set is in the iPhone album called "Photo Library" and then there is an album for each folder that was originally in that root folder. So I have two complete sets of pictures..........way too many apps taking up too much space, too many songs and two sets of the same pictures is wasting space. On the assumption that I'm doing something wrong in this process, what do I need to do to fix this problem?

There is no duplication. Photo Library is the summary of all photos that are synced to the Device.

If they were taken with the iPad, simply plug in the iPad, and it should appear as a regular digital camera in Windows Explorer or in Control Panel/Devices and Printers.
You can then either use the Scanner and Camera Wizard, or simply open the DCIM folder and drag the pictures to which ever folder you want them in,
