Copying Problem (broad stripe on 1/3rd of the page

Just set-up new Officejet 8610 and attempted to copy two pages. The copied pages have a 2.75 inch band running the vertical page length. Checked the print screen for tape, etc. and see nothing. Also checked the all-in-one trouble shooting menu. After numerous attempt to correct the problem, still getting the vertical band. Suggestions?

I can see that your getting a band in your photo copies. Does this happen when you copy using the glass or document feeder or both? You had mentioned that you have followed the troubleshooting steps regarding your issue but are still experiencing the band in your copies.
The first thing i suggest is to ensure the printer is plugged into the wall directly and not a power surge protector. This will ensure the printer is getting full power. The printer requires a lot of power when performing a print job and even more power when doing a photo copy. This may sound silly but is a good way to ensure power is not a factor and may eliminate any unnecessary troubleshooting.
If your still experiencing the issue I suggest checking into this document regarding Vertical Bands, Lines, or Streaks in Copies, Faxes, or Scans

I decided to give Netflix a call about this problem.

It works for me. Now I have to logon everytime I go to their site though versus it had kept me already logged in before this problem.

The bar where the html is suppose to show, the new feature of firefox 4 doesn't seem to show it, what do i do when i want to copy and paste it without loading or refreshing the page again?

i am having problems with not seeing the HTML on the bar because i always look and copy and paste it on things like Facebook and stuff. but now with this new feature, i cannot see or copy or paste it.

You can find the Copy, Paste, and Cut buttons in the Edit menu and the Edit sub menu in the Firefox menu.<br />
If you need access to the menu bar then press F10 or press and hold the Alt key down to bring up the "Menu Bar" temporarily.
You can also find them as toolbar buttons in the toolbar palette in the Customize window and drag them on a toolbar.

Recently firefox loads LinkedIn home page as text only. Was no problem before I installed latest version and the page loads fine in Explorer and Safari.

Thank you for the screenshot. Something is preventing the style from loading.
There is an option in page permissions I would check first:
# Right click on the page and select "Page Info"
# Under Media make sure "Block Images from..." is not checked
Then check out: [[Websites look wrong or appear differently than they should]]
Mainly I would focus on the cache, as the cached page might be corrupt. To clear any corrupt pages it is possible to forget the site from the about:permissions page -> this is not recoverable.
You can open the Web Console (Firefox/Tools > Web Developer).
Check on the Network tab if any content is blocked and has a file size 0 (zero).

Adobe Acrobat 8 copying problem

I have tried the Acrobat HELP feature and it wasn't helpful and so
I turn to you! Problem: When I highlight and attempt to copy a word or phrase
from a PDF the Acrobat application hiccups and begins to shut down- this has
only just begun happening. I then get a kindly message from my computer that
says diagnostics are being run but in the mean time Acrobat succeeds in shutting
down and my computer comes up with no diagnosis. Irritating to say the least.
Have any of you had similar issues with Acrobat - if so how did you resolve it? Thanks!

yes, i can do that with this document to
   1. with the copy function from the file tab
   2. by selecting text and right click
   3. manually with ctrl+c
my problem is with the other publication, 'Nuwe Testament en Psalms'n

manually it does nothing - none of the three copy methods work.

Tuxera NTFS Folder Copy Problem

I have a strange problem copying files contained in folders to external USB devices. The problem occurs with both a 16 GB USB Stick formatted as MS-DOS Fat 32 and an external 1 TB drive formatted as NTFS. Within OS X I have Tuxera NTFS installed to mount, read and write to NTFS volumes. The problem does not occur with volumes formatted as OS X Extended Journaled
The problem manifests itself as a copy error, and the result is that the copy target folder is created on the external volume but no files are copied across. I can however then go into the target sub folder and copy all the files without any problem at all. I cannot discern the reason for this happening as when for example I try to back up My Music to an external drive the problem occurs for some folders but not all. Oddly enough if a folder with a particular date time stamp causes the error then every folder with that date time stamp exhibits the same problem.
Any ideas?

Yes, this is a common problem. A genius told me more than a month ago that it is a known bug in SL that will be fixed "soon."
In the meanwhile, I use a terminal-based command:
cp -Rv source destination
to copy from the Mac to the FAT or NTFS drive. The "v" is optional, I just like to see what is happening! This always works for me. Going from NTFS or FAT back to the Mac seems to work the normal way.

Editing Film Photos and Virtual Copy Problem

I just scanned some film in and then imported it to lightroom. I am now running into a problem when I go to retouch/edit the film in photoshop. When I scan the film in it scans in as a .tiff file. I first tried to edit just the original to see if it would save back into lightroom as .psd but it didnt it saved the original tiff. I want to have two copies, the original and the edited file. So second I tried to make a virtual copy and edit that one and save it but again it saved both the virtual copy and the original file with the edits that I made. I finally tried right clicking the original file and editing with edit a copy. This finally worked I was able to have a copy and the original file unedited.
My question is if I edit this way and have a bunch of edit with copies is my picture sizes going to double? (having two copies of each photo, one edited and one original)
Or is there a way to edit a .tiff as a virtual copy and not have it save the changes to both files.

Actually it did work but on the flickr side, i didn't notice until i logged on.. The Flickr side added a '2' to the virtual copy although Lightroom uses the original name/copy. So i guess it works, just a little confusing. I have not tweaked the virtual copy yet to see if it updates the '2' copy on Flickr or throws a wobbly instead
I used Jeffrey's plugin for sometime but eventually I decided to delete all my photos from flickr (new account anyway) and decided to go fresh with LR 3. It works really well and any tweak i make get's republished without deleting any previous comments or data. Jeffrey's just doesn't have that same visual impact and integration. The LR version has a few quirks but seems stable enough for solid use... Just need to be smart with it because pilot error can make problems.

Copy problem with HP Officejet Pro 8600-always copys on both sides of paper

When I want to make a copy of a document, i.e., insert the document on the glass surface under the printer cover, I touch the copy function on the printer and the printer always makes a copy of the document on both sides of the paper. I do not know how to change the printer setting(s) in order to have a one sided copy feature.

Hi,
From the printer front panel click on Copy.
Click the Two Sided button and select "1 sided original - 1 sided copy".
Next click the Settings button, select Set as New Defaults and confirm, now 1 sided copy will default for any copy job.

Syncing and copying problem

when i want to sync my ipod i get really frequnently an error massage saying: could not copy file to ipod. unkown error 69.
so i read the faqs, but it is not the problem that the mp3s are broken or something. when i try again, the problem occours with an other mp3.
and the other problem is: i can't copy larger files to or from my ipod without crashing it.
i have reseted my ipod for several times and there is no change. please help

You must find the corrupted music files on your iTunes and delete them before you do the syncing.
You can try move the songs to a seperate playlist and do the syncing. Please do 50 songs per time until you find the corrupted files

Stor.E TV+ file copy problems

I have a Stor.E TV+ 2 tb and I have had problems copying files using the on-board system and copying from a USB stick or external HDD.
Some file show as invalid.
I have discovered that this does not happen or at least happens less if I connect via USB and copy from a PC.
Has anybody else noticed this and is there a solution.

As for the Samba problem, this firmware upgrade does not solve the problem of large file transfers. Not sure actually what this software upgrade does improve as I have not noticed any material difference in performance (or shall I say non-performance). There is no information either from Toshiba on this. For copying large files, use the Microsoft RichCopy utility which you can download free from their web-site. It has the added benefit that it manages the copying process and retries in case of any dropouts.

In case of copied files not showing up on Toshiba screen even though they are visible on a remote PC, this could be due to the file being an unsupported type (e.g. I think .ape is a problem) or the file extension is incorrect (e.g. .fla instead of .flac). In first case use Audio Converter s/w to convert files to supported audio format or, in second case, use File Renamer s/w to correct the extension.

HP 7500A copying problems - (on partially copied

My HP Officejet 7500A, which I bought 1 year and 3 months ago, suddenly started having a copier malfunction, which is this: It is only copying one quadrant of what I want to copy (the upper right corner) and the other three-quarters is not copied and comes out blank. It is doing a partial copy only — in other words, the paper is not coming out totally blank. (and on the fraction that IS actually being copied, the print quality is pretty good-- full color, without streaks or blanks) Just before this malfunction began, I had been making copies--- I'd made about 30 (1 page each from about 30 different sources) at 100% size without any problem. And before I started making those copies, I'd changed the yellow ink cartridge. Does anyone have any ideas on how to troubleshoot this?Again, it's an HP Officejet 7500A Wide formatMy operating system is Mac OSX 10.8.3, and the computer is a MacBook ProI didn't get any error messages anywhere. It sounds like the scanner lamp is starting to go out in the 7500a, but I have a few steps I would like you to perform to see if it can be returned to normal function.
Have you tried performing a power drain on the 7500a to see if normal copy functionality returns after doing so?
Unplug the printer while on
Unplug the other end of the power cord from the direct wall outlet
Separate the power cord from the power module in the middle of the cord length
Wait 60 seconds
Plug cord back together and plug printer into a direct wall outlet for power
If this does not fix the issue, then I have some information for performing a reset on this model printer. I will send this information to you in a private message. Please read Bob_Headrick's thread on printer resets, found here, prior to performing the steps sent in the PM.

Weird File-copying problem

This problem is only happening on one computer on the network. When copying some files to the Mac server, they do not fully copy. Then, when we try to delete the file on the server, it responds that the file is "in use".
Wiring ruled out as the issue.

Hi nogeeks, and a warm welcome to the forums!
Not much to go on, but one thing to check...
In finder, select Go menu>Go to Folder, and go to "/volumes".
Volumes is where an alias to your hard drive ("/" at boot) is placed at startup, and where all the "mount points" for auxiliary drives are created for you to access them. This folder is normally hidden from view.
Drives with an extra 1 on the end have a side-effect of mounting a drive with the same name as the system already think exists. Try trashing the duplicates with a 1, and reboot.

Java system copy problems with the Java Migration Toolkit

During the JAVA system copy, we have have got the error in second last
step i.e;Java Migration Toolkit. We tried to do the system copy twice

This issue was resolved by OSS note 966752 itself. Below is the important line in the OSS note.
Note: The default value is crucial! If a custom value other than the default value was applied, we highly recommend that you restore the default value.
