Copying projects: help doc bug?

Hi all,
The "Projects and Files Windows Keyboard Shortcuts" help page says that to "Copy a project" one does the following:
1) With the focus on the project name, press Shift-F10. Use the arrow keys to scroll to Save Project As.
2) Press Enter to open the Save As dialog box, type the name of the copy, the press Enter.
Unfortunately, whether this is done in either the projects or files window, there is no "Save Project As" menu item.
Left over from an earlier version, perhaps? (I'm running w/the latest hotfix, i think.) Is there a recommended way to duplicate a project?
(And i have to mention that OR searches are the lamest, least useful searches possible... is there any way to do an AND search in the help system? Using +RequiredSearchTerm, or Term1 AND Term2, don't seem to work.)

OK, found the problem - it's there in WebApp projects, but not Java Class Library projects. The same thing is also happening with New > File/Folder > Java Classes > Properties File - creating a Properties File is an option in WebApps, but not Java Class Libraries. Yuck.

Tried the solution from another thread but did not work completely (as warned) - the workaround didn't quite work for me either:

Ended up taking a backup, did a fresh install, created the account as the first one so that it gets the same UID as the other Mac (on which my account was the first) and restored my data - was painful but finally on track.

First the question: What is the Passivate property for in the View Object Wizard's Attribute Settings page?

I've logged doc bug 2814172: BC4J GLOSSARY SHOULD HAVE ENTRIES FOR PASSIVATE AND ACTIVATE.
For more information, you could read the "About Application Module Pooling" topic in the online documentation. Passivation is what happens when the application module's state is saved to the database - and activation happens when an application module instance retrieves passivated state from the database.

You can copy word, excel, and powerpoint documents to the iPad, but first you need one or more apps on the iPad that support those document types - unlike a 'normal' computer the iPad doesn't have a file system, and everything on it has to be associated with an app.

Copied project missing from Project Library

Copied a project from one desktop to an external hard drive than to a different iMac. Can see the project file in the Movies folder, but can't get iMovie to open it. Thoughts?

You can't copy the project from the Finder of OS X, you have to do any moving and copying from within iMovie.
Also you can Consolidate which combines the Project and the associated clips from your Events folders.
The Project itself doesn't contain the actual video but rather references to the clips and clip segments you used from your events.
In iMovie go to Help, type Copy Project in the search and select the first entry. It explains.
Also you should search Consolidate and have a look at that.

Copy project description (defined in WBS Level 2) automatically to activity

Hi Gurus,
How to copy project description (defined in WBS Level 2) automatically to activity name/description?
For example:
WBS element (Level 2): "Telephone System Replacement"
When create a new Activity, the description will be: "Telephone System - xxxxxxxx"
The first 16 characters "Telephone System" from the WBS Level 2 are automatically populated to Activity Short Text field.
How to realize that?

I am new to PS, could you please explain in more detail?
In OPSN, I am not sure which one to choose: Network Header or Network Activity, for my case. Looks like there are no standard substitution fields available. Could you please check it out for me? If no, how to use an exit? Is this exit the same as a user exit used for enhancement?

SQL DM - Copy/Export data models - bug?
I am using SQL DM 3.0.0.665. I need your thoughts on following.
We used saved as/export of the SQL DM copy the model into another location. We kept our models in harddrive as folder. We did not store it in database.
We opened the copied model from target model. We found all the links to defined domain was lost. We find the data type shows as Varchar2 instead of Varchar2(20)etc. It creates error on sql.
Why are loosing the domain definition/linkages during export/save as option?
Is it a bug?
Did anyone face such issues?
What is the workaround?

Thanks for your reply. I followed the steps. I did copy the folders/files as Kent suggested.
As we installed the SQL developer on new desktop, it showed the domain definitions as unknown and count as 1 in Design Tree --> domain node. We copied all the xml files under C:\datamodeler\datamodeler\types folder of Desktop A to Desktop B. It brought all the domain definitions of Design in Desktop A.
Why does it not keeping this domain definitions as part of Design folders?
If we copy or save as the design , then domain also cane be saved as part of design. It will be difficult to make a sync of datamodels among multiple desktops.
How do we establish a shareable/sync data models using SQL data Modeler on such situations?

Copying Projects

Hi,
I've had this problem for a long time and am looking for a solution. I often find that it's easier to copy an existing project to another folder then edit for a new project. As far as I can tell, CVI has no way to copy a project. So what I end up doing is manually editing the .cws and .prj files so that the new paths are correct, then opening CVI.
Recently a client sent me the project they were working on. Editing the .prj has been completely unsuccessful. For some reason, CVI sees the source files but is clueless as to the project configurations. It opens an Untitled project with no files. I tried adding the files, but then I get compile errors (when my client does not).
Of course NI will help me fix my problem, but the bigger issue is I think there should be a more automated way to copy projects, and/or zip them up, ship them off, and have them build on a different system without having to manually edit .cws and .prj files.
Yuck!
BTW, NI used to have a suggestion link. What happened to that?

this is only partially true.
Let me explain: this is true for .prj, .cws and source files listed in the .prj file.
The problem arises with files used in the "create installer" feature where you could have some problems of paths.
For this reason, some years ago Peter posted this suggestion (http://forums.ni.com/t5/LabWindows-CVI-Idea-Exchange/Save-as-development-distribution/idi-p/1290170) that is now Under consideration.

Same thing for a movie file.. If you want to play back the movie via a DVD and a DVD player you must create a Movie DVD and not just burn files to a data DVD... as Data DVDs are just storage devices for files and therefore will only work with computers...
Movie DVDs are special formats that include things like menus and special file formats.. so they can playback via a DVD Player...
You will need a 3rd party DVD Burning app like Toast which is what i actually use.... or the more popular DVD Creator app...to create and then burn a Movie DVD that will playback on a DVD Player....

How to run the help doc created in chm format in web

I have created a help doc in chm format.
I am able to call this help doc in client version using the host command.
i.e host('hh filename');
But if I try to rcall the help doc in the web application,its not working.
May I know the reason for this and solution for the same.

I am looking for a variable which selects Based on Fiscal Period/Year...that selects Last 12 Closed Period.

I thought it was me. I couldn't get that AIR app to ever finish updating. I was hoping it would install .chm style interactive help... but now... thanks, I know not to worry. It's a bad joke.
Someone should tell Adobe that just because they make AIR and Acrobat doesn't mean they're the ideal formats for help files.
Partially related question, is there such a thing as a good AIR app?
