Copying Report

Hello All,
I am copying a report from development to production server and Crystal opens up a map dialog, with the map button disabled. The stored procedures used by the report have also being copied over.

Hi Khan,
reports are client independent. If you are on the same server (For eg DEV, QAS) then you will have report in all the clients.

Hi All, Just trying to figure out how to copy report groups. History: We're in the process of creating a number of analyzer screens for a range of users. One of the issues being we only want them to have a drop down for their cost centres. Hello, I too have a situation like this. We can do the export &import but I was wondering if we can automate this process somehow?like I have atleast 200 groups and in this situation, importing& exporting doesnt seem pretty and efficient. Any ideas how wecan work this out?????????

This is not entirely correct. Only if you reset the system date you extend the expiration date, otherwise you'll get an error message like this.
and the program does not start.
Every beta has a limited time period to work.The expiration date of the 2.2beta8 is 27/11/2011.
But until then it'll be a new version released. So stay cool, or use the non-expiring version 2.1, or go back to the future with your system time.

Step by step process in copying report to a new server

How do you copy report to a new server

Do you want to copy just some reports or do you want to move the complete SSRS Server incl. ReportServer databases to a new machine?
If you want to move the complete SSRS:
Moving the Report Server Databases to Another Computer
Other Option: Do you have the origin SSRS BIDS/SSDT Project with all the reports? Then simply change the target server in the project to the new and deploy the new Server.
And if it's just some of the reports, then copy them one by one as chenthorn wrote.

I have some custom reports along with standard reports in one library. I want to copy all the custom reports from this library to other library. What is the best way to do it. I can copy each report from grr2 or grr3 but i want to do for the whole custome reports at a time as i have like 20 rpeorts.

Copying report file from one server to another requires refresh database?

I am using Crystal Reports 11 for development.
We have a number of crystal reports that are served on a web server running classic ASP that uses these reports with Embedded Crystal Server XI installed on the server.
When I am developing or modifying a .rpt file (report) I connect to a UAT/development database on a dedicated development server.
When I am happy with the report and testing is successful I copy and paste the report onto the production server, replacing the old report.
The problem is I don't have a user account and password on the production server. Our DBAs are the only one with passwords on the prod servers. If an application needs a password entered they come to my desk and enter it for me.
The problem is in order for the modified report to work on the production, I have to call up a DBA to "verify the database" for me by connecting to production server and entering username and password.
This is really annoying.
Why can't I just disconnect\log off server in crystal reports, then copy and paste the .rpt file to prod server and be done with it?
If I had dozens of reports to change, it seems very rigid that I have to ask a DBA to enter the user account and password used by the application to run the report.
Can someone please explain how to be able to copy and paste modified reports/ or new reports from one server to another without having this problem.

Moving to the Legacy SDK forum.
Crystal can be magical sometimes but if you don't tell CR where the database is how is it to know you moved it?
As you have seen and for security reasons you can't simply "drop" a report on any server and expect it to just connect to a new DB server without being asked to enter in credentials or that you have changed the DB server to report off of.... If it's too much work for the DBA to set log on info then he should give you access to so can.

How to copy Report from another company (using PLD)

i create a new company, with empty data.
Because i stop the training company and now start with live company.
In training company, i created so many report, and now i must copy the reports to live company.
I try to open two SAP window, and i open Print Layout Designer (PLD). Then i try to select all and copy then i switch to PLD in live company, but i cant paste it.
So.. how to solve this problem?

How to copy report properties into another report?

I have created one updated list report and I wanted to create another updated list report with same report properties of first one but with different data objects so I don't have to redo properties settings.
I copied first report to another name and I tried to change data objects but It didn't allow me to choose different data object. It says "Data object must contain at least the same fields as in the Original Data object".
Do I have to create another report from scratch?

yes you can use the import wizard to export your reports from one server to another server
just open the import wizard, connect to your source server, choose object types you want to export (folders, reports, users,,,,etc),,, then choose the objects itself, then connect to the destination server, and the import wizard will guide you through this process.

How to copy Report(including text symbols and Selection text) in Local file

Hi,
I have developed a Report in my testing system (Company dummy system) which contains lot selection text and Text symbols.
Is there any program that will copy that prohram along with all selection text and text symbold and save it on the floder and form the same program or different program i can upload program??
for example SAP has standard program RSTXSCRP from which i can export and import SAP Script to and from local file or system.
Please let me know at the earliest.

For scripts only that option is avaible in SAP.
For reports u can copy that report to another name otherwise release the request no and transport to one system to another system.
Final option is u have to save to one local file (green color icon) after that in which system, u want to upload the report means u have to create new report and upload it including selection-text itself.

Copying Report Programs from one SAP system to another SAP system

Folks,
I would like to know if there is any easy way to copy a report program from one system to another system. There are two SAP systems of which one runs on UNIX and another one runs on Windows. BASIS consultant told that they are not transportable.
The only option I came up with manually copying the reports and associated Selection Texts, Text Symbols & Titles& Headers.
Is there any other easy way to do this task as I have 60 programs to be moved.

There are two SAP systems of which one runs on UNIX and another one runs on Windows.
Thanks for your suggestion. Our BASIS consultant mentioned that as the Operating Systems for these SAP systems are different , transports can not be done. As per your suggestion , my understanding is that transports are possible even the operating systems are different.

Copy report layout from one report to another

I have a VERY complex report layout which is part of a report with Data model A. I need to copy that report layout to another report which has Data model B, which has all the same structure as Data model A but is queried differently. The first is invoices for regular billing the second is invoices for re-billing, all columns are the same.

In the Report Organizer, just right click and Export the definition. Then, open the new company & right click and import the definition.
