Copying song from Library to Ipod

I am getting and error message every time I try and copy songs to my Ipod. It reads;
Attempting to copy the Disk Leslie IP failed. The disk could not read or written to.
Help!!

Take a look at this Apple KnowledgeBase article:
"Disk cannot be read from or written to" when syncing iPod or "Firmware update failure" error when updating or restoring iPod
Hope it helps. Good luck.

  • Cannot copy songs from library to ipod - says need to run updater but ipod

Cannot copy songs from library to ipod- says the software is too old and updater needs to be rund. However, the updater has been run and says the ipod is up to date. I have already run the restore so the ipod is empty.

The songs are "greyed out" because you have the iPod set to transfer songs automatically. That is also why the padlock icon appears at the bottom of iTunes next to the space used/available.
So, transfer of any songs added (or removal of any songs deleted from iTunes) should take place automatically every time you connect the iPod to iTunes.

  • Trouble Copying Songs from Mac to iPod

I recently purchased a new MacBook Pro.
I copied my iTunes folder from my PowerBook to my MacBook Pro. All of my songs appear in the library.
I have my iPod set up to manually manage my songs.
When I copy songs from library to my iPod, they don't copy. I don't even get a warning message. I did the reset warnings on my iPod and still no message.
If I go to my iMac computer, I can copy songs from iTunes to my iPod with no problem
Why can't I copy songs from my new MacBook Pro to iTunes?
I have reset my iPod, my sure I am running latest versions of the software etc.
MacBook Pro, 2.1 GHz   Mac OS X (10.4.7)   2 GB Ram

Shooting from the hip, I'd say try running a restore with the iPod connected to the new MacBook.
    Good luck.

  • Can't get songs from library to ipod

    hi
i just bought an ipod yesterday. I was able to get songs from my cd's to the library. I can't get the songs from the library to my ipod. When i look in the user guide, i see an option button which looks like it should be in the bottom right hand corner. My itunes does not have this button. I even removed programs and downloaded from apple website. What am i doing wrong.

    hi!
    * Sorry for my last post, this is want i want you to search for:
    SYNC/ERASE
    * using the latest iPod Updater and iTunes Correctly:
    1. Run iPod updater, then connect your iPod shuffle
    2. After it recognizes the iPod, run iTunes
    3. The iTunes will not recognize the iPod shuffle.
    4. Close the iPod updater, iTunes will now recognize the iPod shuffle
    5. You could now sync/erase your songs
    * I think the iPod shuffle updater program conflicts with iTunes program:
Coz, if you just connect your iPod shuffle and let the iTunes run automatically, the iTunes will recognize it while the windows will recognize it for just a sec then disconnects it, that's why you couldn't sync/erase yor songs.
** Only tested in iPod shuffle, but i think this will work too if you got the same problems.
    * wait 5-10 sec for each steps (1-3)
i hope this would help you!..

  • Cant copy songs from itunes to ipod

I have a new computer and installed itunes and music.  However when I connect my ipod it shows up but I cannot transfer songs from itunes to it.  What is the cause of the problem and possible solution?
    Mike

It's because your iPod can only be synced to one computer at a time unless you enable the Manually manage music and videos option from under your iPod's summary tab. However, this method of syncing is much different from having iTunes automatically sync content for you.
So in order to sync your iPod with the new iTunes you'll need to copy the music from your iPod over to your new PC and then erase and sync it.  See this older post from another forum member Zevoneer on different ways to copy music from your iPod back to your PC.

  • Cannot copy songs from itunes to ipod touch, although I've downloaded latest itunes version. Please help..

I've downloaded latest version of itunes but still didn't allow me to drag the songs that I want to my ipod touch. Anybody could help?? Thanks!

    Hello Juminten Cinta,
Since you are trying to manually add content to your iPod Touch, have you double checked to make sure the Manually manage music and videos option is ticked from under your iPod's Summary tab?
If it's already ticked, what exactly happens when you try to drag the songs over to your iPod?

Make sure that you have set iTunes to "manage songs manually" - otherwise, all synchronization is automatic and you cannot drag songs to the iPod.
Of course, the automatic synchronization works fine if that is what you want/need (that is what I use, works fine)

  • How can I copy songs from one iPod to another?

I received a new iPod Classic (last generation) and I'm trying to transfer my songs from my old iPod Nano (also last generation).
My iTunes library is also split up between my two parent's houses and I only have half the songs on my Nano in this computer's library.
Is there a way to copy only the songs on the +iPod Nano+ (not the iTunes library) and drop them onto the new iPod?

*Is there a way to copy only the songs on the iPod Nano (not the iTunes library) and drop them onto the new iPod?*
You can't copy directly from one iPod to another, you have to copy the songs back to iTunes and update the new iPod from there. If you have any iTunes Music Store purchases the transfer of purchased content from the iPod to authorised computers was introduced with iTunes 7. You'll find details in this article: Copying iTunes Store purchases from your iPod to a computer
The transfer of content from other sources such as songs imported from CD is designed by default to be one way from iTunes to iPod. However there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod. You'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and some will transfer movies, videos, photos, podcasts and games as well. Have a look at the web pages and documentation, this is just a small selection of what's available, they are generally quite straightforward. You can read reviews of some of them here: Wired News - Rescue Your Stranded Tunes

There is also a manual method of accessing the iPod's hard drive and copying songs back to iTunes on Windows or a Mac. The procedure is a bit involved and won't recover playlists but if you're interested it's available at this link: Two-way Street: Moving Music Off the iPod

  • Can I transfer,or copy music from my old Ipod that's not in my Music Library to my new one?

    Hello,
    My overall objective is to copy my current playlist onto my new Ipod Classic.  I really didn't want to have to set up my playlists over again.  I cracked my Old Skool Original Ipod at the gym this weekend, so I'm in mourining for sure:{
Again some of my songs are on my Ipod only, so what should I do to transfer these to my new Ipod? Any help to in adding my data to the new Ipod will be much appreciated!
    Thank you

In order to sync the songs from your older iPod to your newer one, you'll need to copy them from your older iPod back to your iTunes library.  See this older post from another forum member Zevoneer covering the different ways to copy content from your iPod back to your PC.

  • Importing songs from my existing ipod to a new itunes library

my pc had a virus and was cleared, I reinstalled itunes and my ipod library wont transfer from my ipod because i am only allowed 1 itunes account at a time. do i have to import all of my cds manually again?

Connect your iPod to your computer. If it is set to update automatically you'll get a message that it is linked to a different library and asking if you want to link to this one and replace all your songs etc, press "Cancel". Pressing "Erase and Sync" will irretrievably remove all the songs from your iPod. When your iPod appears in the iTunes source list change the update setting to manual, that will let you use our iPod without the risk of accidentally erasing it. Check the "manually manage music and videos" box in Summary then press the Apply button. Also when using most of the utilities listed below your iPod needs to be enabled for disc use, changing to manual update will do this by default: Managing content manually on iPod
Once you are safely connected there are a few things you can do to restore your iTunes from the iPod. Whichever of these retrieval methods you choose, keep your iPod in manual mode until you have reloaded your iTunes and you are happy with your playlists etc then it will be safe to return it auto-sync. I would also advise that you get yourself an external hard drive and back your stuff up, relying on an iPod as your sole backup is not a good idea and external drives are comparatively inexpensive these days, you can get loads of storage for a reasonable outlay.
