Copying songs in Itunes

Between an emac and G4 both with Itunes 6. I can share between the macs easily. I am unable to copy any of the songs I am sharing. Most of them are not proprietary if that means anything. I have checked off sharing I tunes in the sharing folder on both macs. Just cannot copy the shared songs to my I tunes.
Many thanks

The advantage of MP3 (and AAC) files is, of course, their relative small size, so you can fit a lot of those songs on your HD and MP3-player.
The disadvantage of those files is their loss of audio quality, especially at lower bit rates.
As told before AAC 128 kbps and MP3 192 kbps have good audio quality, but not the best.
Both compression methods are 'lossy', and, each using their own complex algorithm (calculating method), throw away parts of the audio.
The lower the bitrate, the more information is thrown away.
On playback the 'missing' parts are re-calculated to create the original audio information by approximation.
AIFF files are uncompressed and have all audio information, but are very large. Some encoders (FLAC, Apple Lossless) can compress these files and retain all audio information.
Here are some file types and their approximate sizes at 1 minute of music:
AIFF - 10 MB
Apple Lossless - 5 MB
MP3 192 kbps - 1.4 MB
AAC 128 kbps - 1 MB
Hope this answers your question.

  • OUR IPOD KEEPS SYNCING WITH ITUNES AND WE CAN'T SEEM TO TURN IT OFF.  WE WANT TO MANUALLY COPY SONGS FORM ITUNS PURCHASED GROUP TO THE IPOD.  I LOOKED AT ALL OF THE MENUS AND CAN'T SEEM TO FIND A SETTING TO CONTROL THIS.

OUR IPOD SHUFFLE KEEPS TRYING TO SYNC WITH ITUNES.  WE HAVE SEVERAL DEVICES ---2 IPOD SHUFFLES AND AN IPAD.  THE PROBLEM STARTED WHEN WE WERE SETTING UP OUR NEW IPAD BEING ABLE TO SHARE MUSIC PURCHASED IN ITUNES WITH THE IPAD.
FOR THE POD'S WE WANT TO MANUALLY COPY PURCHASED SONGS FROM ITUNES TO OUR IPADS.  WE HAVE TRIED EVERY MENU TRYING TO TURN OFF THE SYNCING FUNCTION BUT CAN'T.  IT ONLY HAPPENS ON 1 OF OUR IPODS.
ITUNES ON MY DESK TOP SEES THE PROBLEM IPOD AND IMMEDIATELY TRIES TO SYNC AND AGAIN DOES THIS EVERY TIME YOU TRY TO COPY A SONG FROM THE DESK TOP TO THE IPOD.
WE VERIFIED THAT THE IPOD HAS THE LATEST S/W VERSION.

It is - came over from a Droid (was a former 3G user)... forgot how smooth and seamless the iPhone experience was. The Droid was nice, and Android is interesting, but the iPhone is so much simpler and easy. I hacked the heck out of the Droid, and it's so nice to be back on a smooth, "just works" phone.
    Anyway, thanks again.

  • Can I transfer/copy songs from itunes to Windows Movie Maker?

I am designing a slide show for my daughter's wedding.  If I buy songs through itunes, can I copy/move them to Windows Movie Maker for the slide show.
    I appreciate your input/guidance.

With the iPod connected to your PC and selected on the left-hand sidebar of your computer's iTunes (if you have iTunes 11 on your PC then you can enable the sidbar via control-S), you should be able to use the Music tab on the right-hand side of iTunes to select which of your music to sync to it e.g. which albums, artists, playlists etc : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1351

  • Cant copy songs from itunes to ipod

I have a new computer and installed itunes and music.  However when I connect my ipod it shows up but I cannot transfer songs from itunes to it.  What is the cause of the problem and possible solution?
    Mike

It's because your iPod can only be synced to one computer at a time unless you enable the Manually manage music and videos option from under your iPod's summary tab. However, this method of syncing is much different from having iTunes automatically sync content for you.
So in order to sync your iPod with the new iTunes you'll need to copy the music from your iPod over to your new PC and then erase and sync it.  See this older post from another forum member Zevoneer on different ways to copy music from your iPod back to your PC.

  • Ipod wont copy songs from itunes as it contains more than 5 accounts

i know you can only register 5 computers to use ipod, but i only have 1 registered, ive tried authorizing and deautorising my accounts, my friends have put songs on my ipod when the m ipod crashed for me, and i just created an account here in the u.s. to download u.s. music i also have a uk account which i use to download songs too, how do i get rid of the accounts registered to my ipod so i can just use my 2 that i downloaded , without losing my songs already on my ipod>?

i know you can only register 5 computers to use ipod
    This is incorrect.
You can authorize a max of 5 computers to play your iTunes purchases.
how do i get rid of the accounts registered to my ipod
Accounts are not registered to an iPod.
Tp play songs in iTunes, you need to authorize teh computer. To authorize teh computer, play a purchased song. It will tell you that you need to authorize the computer by inputting your username and password.

  • When i copy songs thrrough itunes some albums are copying as single songs but not as one album

If it can copy all as album folders its easy to run one album at atime and can here. Now it not working like that and i need to select always song.

Should that read "when I copy an artist over to itunes and that particular artist has multiple albums," because if not, I don't understand?
If I'm right about that, I'm still not really clear at all about what you're doing. Where are you importing these songs and albums from? Is it existing songs files and if so, what format are they in?

  • I can not copy songs from itunes on my iphone 4s.

it works from laptop to iphone. but not from PC to iphone. both under windows. i have activated both computer. any idea?

    Hello Solid Buck,
Thank you so much for providing the details about the duplicate song issue you are experiencing.  It sounds like you would like to remove the duplicate songs that will not play on your iPhone, but when you connect it to iTunes, iTunes only shows you one copy of the song on your iPhone.
In this situation, I recommend deleting the individual songs that do not play directly from your iPhone.  I found the steps to do this on page 61 of the iPhone User Guide (http://manuals.info.apple.com/en_US/iphone_user_guide.pdf):
Delete a song from iPhone: In Songs, swipe the song, then tap Delete.
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    Best,
    Sheila M.

  • Can't manually copy song from iTunes library to iPod Touch

I just purchased 2 songs from the iTunes store. I've alway set my iTunes to allow me to manually manage my songs. When I drug the first song from the iTunes library to the iPod Touch, it went fine. When I drug the second one across it, it said it was copying the file and then when it got to the very end the beach ball came up and it never finished. I had to force quit. The second and subsequent times that I have tried to copy the song, I just get the endless beach ball. This is on a 2011 iMac running 10.7.5 and iTunes 12.0.1.26.

OK, I got it to work. I updated iTunes to 12.1. Rebooted the iMac, reconnected the iTouch and tried dragging the song from my iTunes library to the iTouch again. This time it copied OK. I'm not sure why.

  • Copying songs to iTunes on a new PC

recently my pc is crashed and now i want to use my iPhone with my new pc. I can get all my purchased Apps from the AppStore but I want to know how I can copy my existing iPhone songs to my new pc by using iTunes. I came through some of the discussions asking for the same issue and most of the provided solutions are some 3rd party softwares but I prefer iTunes only. There sure will be a solution through iTunes.   please someone help me on this !!!!

No one here is "Apple people", we're all users like yourself.
Apparently you've failed to maintain a backup of your important files.  If you cannot figure out how to do a search of google or the forums to find a way to obtain the files again, sounds like you've learned an important lesson.
Make some effort... try a search, the "More Like This" section to the right, or give up.
No one here really cares if you cannot be bothered to put forth some effort.
Lazy people like yourself post this same question every day and find out how silly it was to not maintain a backup of their computers.

  • Copying songs from iTunes to a CD to play in car

I am trying to burn a playlist of songs which I purchased in iTunes onto a CD so that I can play it in my car.
I have tried twice, but after had two failed attempts. Got an error message at the end : Disc failed to burn ..Error 4450.
Can someone please tell me how I can burn my iTunes Playlist to a CD for playing in the car, or any other CD player for that matter?
I think I did it once before but I don't remember how I did it.
I did the usual: selected my Playlist,  went to File, Burn CD and it seemed to be burning, but in the end got error message.
I have Audio CD selected in Preferences.
    thanks!!!!
PS: the burn button is not visible even though I have the playlist on the left side bar selected

You have to create a playlist first, then click on the "Burn" button in the top right corner. Check the Apple Support pages for more details.
EDIT: And check the settings in the "Preferences > Advanced > Burning" tab.
    Alexander.

  • Cannot copy songs from itunes to ipod touch, although I've downloaded latest itunes version. Please help..

I've downloaded latest version of itunes but still didn't allow me to drag the songs that I want to my ipod touch. Anybody could help?? Thanks!

    Hello Juminten Cinta,
Since you are trying to manually add content to your iPod Touch, have you double checked to make sure the Manually manage music and videos option is ticked from under your iPod's Summary tab?
If it's already ticked, what exactly happens when you try to drag the songs over to your iPod?

  • Cannot copy songs from itunes to my ipod

For some reason when I try to drag songs from my itunes to my ipod (dock version) nothing happens. I was able to do this just fine only three days ago. Any ideas?

Check your iPod summary page and make sure that "manually manage music" is still selected.
If it is, make sure that the song plays in iTunes.

  • Itunes not copying songs to Ipod

I had to reinstall itunes a few weeks ago, since then I've been unable to copy songs from itunes, it recognises my ipod but can't move any songs to it.
I've tried resetting everyting, reinstalling everything, nothing works.
Anybody knows how to fix this?
    Thanks

Are you sure that your preferences are at the correct setting?
Go to "Edit -> Preferences -> iPod -> Music".
On either of the "automatic" settings, iTunes should automatically update the songs from either the library or a playlist (depends on the setting) to your iPod.
On the "manual" option, you'll have to manually transfer songs to your iPod, by simply going to the iTunes library, selecting the songs you want on your iPod, and drag-and-drop them over into your iPod's name in the left source area of iTunes.
If you still can't transfer sogns from iTunes to your iPod, then try a restore on your iPod.
