Copying text and attachments in mail

I want to print several emails without the header information (just the body of the email containing pictures). When I try to print from within Mail I'm given three options, none of which are satisfactory so I've tried to just copy (select all and then copy)and then paste into Word or Text Edit. The result is always just the text is copied, no pictures (attachments). Is there some reason pictures are not copied and is there a way to do what I'm trying to do?

Here's what to do:
Open the message in Mail, click somewhere in the body and select Edit -> Select All. That will select the body and not the header. Then Edit -> Copy.
Then open TextEdit and with a blank window open select Format -> Make Rich Text. Then Edit -> Paste.
That should paste the mail message body into TextEdit, pictures and all.

Plain text and attachment in Mail Adapter (Receiver)

Hello,
we have to generate a mail in the mail-adapter with a specific text and an attachment.
The attachment is a document in pdf-format, that is generated inside an adapter-module out of the payload-document.
An additional text has to be added to the mail for the receiver in plain-text-format, like "Dear customer ... enclosed you will find ...".
Is it possible to mix plain-text and attachments in the mail adapter? Does anybody know how we can do that?

Hi,
yes you can do it very easily inside the adapter module
if you're already using the adapter module then
you can just enhance it a little bit
you can add the pdf to the attachment section and
leave dear customer in the standard payload
you can even make it a little bit more dynamic
and create a module that will take the input from
the communication channel config (modules tab) - for example xml tag name in which you will specify
the dear customer (or any other text) and after this
the pdf creating can use the xml without this tag...

You can't expect Mail to support all the objects of Pages which can include anything up to charts generated from spreadsheet tables.
Even if Mail was a superset of Pages, what would the recipients who don't have either Mail or Pages, make of it?

Or do you mean that, when you created a new document, you choose Web as intent maybe?

Ctrl+C closes tab instead of copying text and Ctrl+F doesn't work

Hi,
As stated in title, since upgrading Firefox to the latest version, when I press Ctrl+C it closes the tab I'm on instead of copying text. It can be text from a website or text from an email i'm writing. Estremely frustrating, as I've come to the habit of copying the text of an email I'm sending using Yahoo Mail before sending in case it doesn't send properly and gets lost!!!
Also, I usually pressed Ctrl+F to search for a specific piece of text on a website, but this simply doesn't work. Any ideas?
I use the Welsh language version of Firefox, and the same problem occurs on both my home laptop and work PC.

Super annoying, but I've realised '''Ctrl+Shift+T''' opens the last tab to be closed and that is a great help until a fix comes along.

It's a kludge, but when I want to make sure that all formatting is removed from the contents of the clipboard, so that I can paste plain text, and the app I'm pasting into doesn't have a "Paste and Match Style" option (or something similar), I open up TextWrangler, paste there, then select all and copy. Now your clipboard contains plain text, no styling, and it'll match the style of the existing text wherever you paste it.

The copy and paste into dialog boxes works just fine. I suspect that my earlier problem was due to not being familiar with the new computer's keyboard. I am used to the CTRL key being located at the bottom left of the keyboard. The new keyboard has the Fn key in that position. I must have pressed Fn instead of CTRL. The old habits die hard. I feel like for not noticing this earlier.

Possible bug with HTML emails and attachments from Mail.app

I'm trying to send an attachment with an HTML email from Mail.app and getting unexpected results. I've been messing around with the order that things get added to the new e-mail and it seems that I can have either an attachment or I can have HTML email, not both.

Copying text from PDF and no spaces

I get a pdf of Investors Business Daily from thier site. It is copy protected but I use PDFKey to unlock it, so I can copy text. When I copy text and paste it elsewhere often there are no spaces between words, I at first thought it had to do with the justification they used.   However if I use Preview the spaces are there!   So why the difference? I use acrobat pro vs. preview for other reasons. Is there some setting in preferences?
Second question. On this site, upper right is a box and magnifing glass. If I use that to search the forums I get results for ALL forums. Anyway to limit the search to just the forum your in?

I think you missunderstand. Since IBD posts most of the articles on their webpage, and that is not copy protected I could just do that. Also since I am not republishing the articles but merrily re-organizing them for my own use, this does NOT break copyright law (check laws about copying any copyrighted material for you own personel use).

The work being copied must be a legal (i.e. non-pirate) copy.   check
Beyond this there are also fair use and research and study laws, that, if they applied for my use, would still permmit copying the material.
That aside, I am NOT asking for help in using PDF cracking software. Infact, Preview copies the material from the original file just fine.
All that PDFKey does is flip one bit in the file, it does not change spaces or spacing between words, throughout the file.
I am just asking how can it be that copying the same material from one source file, using two different PDF reading apps, give different results.

Copying text to a new composed msg question

On my desktop in mail I have a drafts folder where I keep certain mails I need to copy text from to add to composed emails I intend to send. I want to do the same on my Iphone, is it easier to store the text on a different app besides mail (which one?) or do I send myself a draftthat contains the text and save the mail? (how do I save a mail as a draft?)

There isn't a draft option really on the iPhone. However, the built in Notes app if you make your draft there, the note has the option to Email on it thus start a new email when needed with the text from the note.

Preview (copy text) results in SQUIGGLES not text for certain PDFs

hi - problem is "copy text and paste from certain PDFs result in squiggles
When i use an online converter service (e.g. http://ebook.online-convert.com/convert-to-pdf) to convert files to PDF, Apple Preview does not work properly.
What happens is, when I view this PDF and highlight the text to copy in Apple Preview (snowleapard 10.6.x), and then paste the text say in an email / text file or word doc ---- i get squiggles NOT text.
However, if I view this same PDF in Adobe Pro, I get text (copy text and paste works)
I can also view this same PDF in my iphone app, Goodreader, and "copy text and paste) to email works e.g. I get text.
Interestingly, if I create the PDF NOT from this online service, but say from Adobe PRO, Apple PReview works (e.g. I copy and paste the text no issue)
is this a known bug of Apple Preview or is there some setting i must change somewhere?
the support/developer dude of the online service keeps telling me its an Apple Preview problem, not a problem of his service.....

How can I copy text&image from a website to Apple Pages at once?

I'm using Apple Pages 9.1, I can't copy text and images to pages at once. When I paste the copy contents to it, it just only shows text. With Safari, this functionality seems normal. I could copy and paste what I want to the pages.
What can I do now? I don't want to open Safari just only to copy and quit it after that. :D

Does it matter how widely you select? Firefox may be somewhat stingier in what it includes in a selection than other browsers. For example, I suspect you would have better results if you select the entire page and copy and paste it compared with a section of the page. But that's just a guess, I've never used Pages (or any of iWork).

Need to copy text in e mail and paste to seperate word doc file

Previous to Firefox 4 I could highlight text in body of e mail, select Edit and drop down to copy then minimize screen and select Word Doc file, then paste and print text.

You have the orange Firefox button?
You can call up the classic menu bar ''temporarily'' by tapping the Alt key or pressing F10. To display the classic menu bar all the time, choose
View > Toolbars > Menu Bar
That will replace the orange Firefox button.
Also, you should be able to copy by right-clicking on the selected text and choosing Copy from the pop-up menu. Could be quicker in some cases.

Lost ability to copy and paste attachments in Mail

Hi there,
Just migrated from an older Macbook to new Macbook Pro using Migration Assistant and now in Mail I can't copy and paste an attachment from the received message to a new message.
I could do it before and it works on a new iMac aslo, just not on this particular computer.
Any ideas much appreciated!

It's something to do with Windows' internal clipboard -- it gets stuck by an application that never clears it (not necessarily InDesign -- I've had the same with Word, IExplorer, and a few other programs).

Automator to select e-mail sender and copy text on excel

I need to use automator to select e-mail sender, extract specific text and append it on an excel sheet. is it possible?
I have OS Snow Leopard; Mail; a Master Excel 2011 file; several Output Excel 2011 files for the output
I want Automator to check daily if new mails, on a specific account, have been received that match the mail address with a given list of names and related mail address in the Master Excel.
If a new mail is present, Automator should: pick up specific text in the mail body; select and open the related Output Excel file (each output Excel file is saved with the name linked with the e-mail address in the Master Excel); append the text on the given worksheet in the Output Excel file; save the output file.
This should be done with all the received mails that match with the Master Excel file
Is it possible do this kind of thing with automator? may be with the support of VBA for some parts?
I would appreciate any suggestion or idea to resources to investigate

I had the same problem and it is a software bug.
SAP release for us a special sap note number 1278473 - "Followup E-mail doesnot contain text of Notes of Activity".
I dont know if this note was release for all customer, but you can open a message to sap asking help.
My message at sap was 946981/2008.
