Copying text without missing spaces

I get a finacial newspaper via pdf. Sometimes I like to send articles to a relative. When I copy the text out of Acrobat Pro (8-X) and into either an e-mail or a text editor often some spaces are missing. Also every line in the pdf ends in a <cr>, so reformating for a wider text column doesn't work. HOWEVER if I use Preview, part of Mac OS-X, NEITHER of these problems happen! Is there anyway to get Acrobat to act more like Preview, is there some sort of setting?
FYI: I use Acrobat instead of Preview because I can set that highlighting text also generates comments at the end of the document, so its easy to go through those and click to find my highlights, maybe it would be easier to get Preview to do that.

Not something that Oracle Text does as standard, but it might be able to help you, simply by processing a lot of "good" text to produce a candidate list of words for use in a function like yours.
You don't want "issue" split into "is" and "sue". OK, what do you want to do with "all I want to do is sue them"? Do you want that as "issue" or "is sue"? If you're expecting the system to work it out, forget it. You'd need some context-aware language software, and Oracle does not have anything suitable for that.

Is it possible to select text from a website and copy it without getting all the HTML link coding too? For instance, I look up an address on google maps and want to copy the text of the address into a word doc or email and get all this HTML code that I then have to delete. How do you copy text only?

Hi JJMack and anyone else having the same issue!
I have a solution for the problem: I went to Keyboard shortcuts and Menus, and strangely Edit/Copy had F3 associated with it. I use Photoshop for ten years now and I never changed that shortcut, not even recently. Strange, because I would remember that I changed that, it's not something you can mess with a couple of incidental clicks or key strokes.
So for anyone having the same issue: check your Keyboard shortcuts and if it is for some reason changed, set it back to Ctrl+C or anything you like and know.

Can't Copy Text From PDF Within Gmail Preview

Hi,
If I click on a pdf attachment while inside gmail, I get the expected preview window of that PDF. However, I can't copy text from it. If I press Command-C, it just makes a beeping noise letting me know nothing is being copied. If I select text and right-click, there's no 'copy' option. Also, in the top toolbar, Copy is greyed out in the Edit menu. However, if I just hold down Command-C for a couple seconds the text will copy anyways (while hearing a dozen audible beeps). I can copy text without issue using Firefox from the same PDF attachment preview inside Gmail.

Having same issue as well. I've had this problem pre-Yosemite and it seems to be Safari related. Copy to clipboard in Gmail preview works fine in Chrome & Firefox, just not Safari. As you indicated if you hold ctrl-c long enough it will eventually copy, just forces you to listen to the series of annoying bongs.
Also there's no copy to clipboard in the context menu as illustrated below:

Pretty annoying really, I'm not about to download a dozen attached PDFs to copy to clipboard, so now I'm sitting in the Delta lounge with my laptop bonging away as I wait for Safari to copy to clipboard and everyone looks at me like I'm a moron.
NOTE: No I do not have acrobat or any other software loaded besides vanilla Safari. This has gone on on my MBP, Mac Pro and now this brand new MBP I got Monday as a company upgrade, it literally has nothing installed on it at the moment.

HELP - Copying Text from Acrobat Reader 6.0 version

I have Acrobat Reader Version 6.0. I can't seem to click on "Select" and copy text in word document. When i clock on "Select", nothing happens. Does anyone know how I can actually copy text without havign to type everything again?

where would I see a locked padlock? my work collegue can actually copy the text from the same PDF file on his computer but i cant. But he has acrobat reader version 7.0. Not too sure if that makes any differenct.
I right clicked on the PDF file and selected properties. and read only box is not selected.

Copying selected text results in text without spaces.

When I select and copy text from most PDFs and paste it tome some other app, the resulting text has no spaces between words.
Example:

Whereas in other app that uses iOS buil in:

The weird thing is that in some documents I am able to copy paste from Acrobat correctly.

Do you have thar Persian font in your system? If you don't, copy and paste will produce only garbage.

How can I get an Extension's toolbar icon to display image without text (without universally affecting other icons)? How can I edit the icons text (save space)?

Is there a way to choose an individual setting for a specific toolbar icon to be icon only (no text) without universally affecting all other icons on the toolbars?
Second, is there a way to edit the text on a specific toolbar button from an extension (because it occupies too much horizontal space on the toolbar due to the amount of text)? I do know how to locate the xpi file & open it with notepad, but then it's mainly code (not English) & FIND doesn't locate the button's text (to edit it).
These 2 questions should apply to Extension buttons in general. However IF it makes any difference I'm referring to the Toolbar Button in Back To Top 7.0 which says "Go to top/bottom". I'd at least like to edit out "Go to", but my questions apply to other Extension buttons too. I do realize it may be necessary to redo any fix/change each time there is an update? THANK YOU.

* click that element with the mouse and keep the button pressed until you see a red border to indicate the the DOMi has located that element in the DOM tree.

Copying text from PDF and no spaces

I get a pdf of Investors Business Daily from thier site. It is copy protected but I use PDFKey to unlock it, so I can copy text. When I copy text and paste it elsewhere often there are no spaces between words, I at first thought it had to do with the justification they used.   However if I use Preview the spaces are there!   So why the difference? I use acrobat pro vs. preview for other reasons. Is there some setting in preferences?
Second question. On this site, upper right is a box and magnifing glass. If I use that to search the forums I get results for ALL forums. Anyway to limit the search to just the forum your in?

I think you missunderstand. Since IBD posts most of the articles on their webpage, and that is not copy protected I could just do that. Also since I am not republishing the articles but merrily re-organizing them for my own use, this does NOT break copyright law (check laws about copying any copyrighted material for you own personel use).

The work being copied must be a legal (i.e. non-pirate) copy.   check
Beyond this there are also fair use and research and study laws, that, if they applied for my use, would still permmit copying the material.
That aside, I am NOT asking for help in using PDF cracking software. Infact, Preview copies the material from the original file just fine.
All that PDFKey does is flip one bit in the file, it does not change spaces or spacing between words, throughout the file.
I am just asking how can it be that copying the same material from one source file, using two different PDF reading apps, give different results.

Copy text from word without track changes

We receive tons of word-documents to our newspaper, and many of these are copied and pasted into incopy. Some of the editors also use track changes in word heavily.
The ordinary ctrl+a ctrl+c ctrl-v copies track-changes-info. (This also apply if we copy to notepad etc.)
Is there an easy way to copy just the text without all the track chages-info, just the final text?
This is a big problem for us, and I haven't found a quick and easy solution on the web.

I just retested this Copy/Paste of Tracked Changes and Comments under Word 2011 for the Mac and Word 2010 for the PC. The results vary.
Regarding the PC with 2010 version.
Regardless of the Show Tracking settings in the Source document, the tracked changes DO NOT transfer from the source Word document to the destination Word document.
Regardless of the Show Tracking setting in the Source document, comments ALWAYS carry over into the destination Word document.
In all cases, source document tracked changes ALWAYS transfer to Note documents.
Paste Unformatted DOES NOT eliminate the tracked changes and comments when pasting to a Word destination document
Regarding Word 2011 on the Mac

When I copy text, it adds a space at the end when I paste. Any ideas how to not do this?

Where are you seeing this behavior? Most word processing apps will try to intelligently add spaces where necessary when pasting text. For example, if you copy the text "Mike and", and then put the insertion point at the '|' in "I like |Ike", then the paste will result in "I like Mike and Ike". Note the addition of a space following the pasted text, so that the result is not "I like Mike andIke". Is that the behavior you're having trouble with, or are you seeing something else?
If the behavior I've described is the problem, I'm not aware of any way to turn that off.

Yes, I know that I can copy the text with the text tool. Although I would like to copy / paste from Illustrator to InDesign for editing if you need without having to play through two programs.

How can i copy text from a website without getting blue formatting?

I can't seem to get rid of the blue background when I copy text from a website and paste it into a Word doc.

Use an intermediate application to "strip" the copy elements of their extraneous/unwanted data. Paste the original copy into a text-only application like TextEdit, then copy the text itself from that paste. Then, paste the text into your Word document.

Copy text from Terminal without formatting

Dear all,
in Maverick there is a new feature that I just hate - if I select text in Terminal.app, copy it with Cmd+C and paste it in Mail.app, the text is copied with the formatting. In principle this is not new, but what is new is that it is copied with the background of the text also. In my case - black background with white text in the middle of my e-mail. Moreover - there is no way to format the background of a text in Mail.app. Do you have any idea how I can solve this?

Let me just start by saying this is the DUMBEST default you could ever have for a terminal application. Why should how I like to *view* my terminal window affect how I copy text - a thing I'm probably going to do a lot and get screwed by? If you wanted to make a shortcut for "copy-with-style", fine, but this is an idiotic default for simple copy.
Also, the suggestion of fixing this on the Paste side doesn't work in a lot of environments (as there's often no "matching style" to mimic).
As it turns out, thankfully, you can disable this entirely in terminal by changing the relevant property:
defaults write com.apple.Terminal CopyAttributesProfile com.apple.Terminal.no-attributes

Zebra label - text without space.

Used BAR-ONE for SAP. Create an ITF file, that was uploaded into a SapScript layout. With the output of the lable the text areas even free text contains no spaces between the different words example "Please Help" get printed as "PleaseHelp".

Problem copying text from word to dreamweaver

Howdy..
had a problem copying text from a word doc (07) to
dreamweaver, for some strange reason it missed a complete section
in the middle, 2 paragraphs gone... no errors... no blank spaces,
just would not copy and paste the section, everything b4 and after
was fine, the only way to correct this was to copy to
textpad/notepad first and then recopy and paste..
anybody have any ideas ?
anyone seen this happen b4?

nope, there didnt seem to be any special formatting in the
word doc, just a straight forward press release, two of them
actually and they both had sections that didn't copy and paste.
what was very strange was it was sections in the middle of
the docs, and wasnt the same in both, was 2 different areas in
each, just when u copy'd and pasted it gave nothing..
and ive never seen anything like it b4,
ive just upgraded to CS4 a few weeks back and this is the
first time ive noticed it, ill keep my eye out and see if its
somethng to do with the way word is formatting stuff..

Copying text from emails and Word into a GoLive 9 webpage

Most of my web work involves copying and pasting text from emails and/or Word onto a page created in GoLive and uploading it to the web. In the past this has never been a problem with previous versions of GoLive. Now with GoLive 9, I constantly get extra characters appearing such as "" where almost every space is located between sentences. Foreign characters often appear as strange symbols whereas they copied over perfectly (French and German-type accents etc) before.
When I copy something I now have to go to a menu item [type/HTML/paragraph format] to turn "paragraph" off which helps get rid of the extra formatting not wanted (often everything appears in a large bold font, even though it wasn't like this in the original document). Also until I turn off "paragraph" I am unable to align any of the text as it has a mind of its own, regardless of what the webpage is specifying, (ie left alignment, centred etc).
Is there any way to copy and paste text without having to editor and reformat it - just as one used to do in all previous versions of GoLive?

That is an interesting idea but is still really a lot of unnecessary mucking around when GoLive 9 should do all this automatically with no fuss at all. I have been using GL since its early PageMill days and never had this problem before.
I understand what you mean by using a blank page - I might give it a try.
I found CS2 was getting slower and slower on my PowerPC. I now have an Intel iMac. Sometimes I would go to open a GL file and I could make a cup of tea waiting for it to open (admittedly it was a large file with lots of table cells and photos). Now I can open the same file in a few seconds using GL9. I looked up the Adobe support for 10.5 and it was listed as having issues which wouldn't be resolved. Photoshop Elements 4 was listed the same yet I had had no problems with it. A friend had huge problems with InDesign when he changed to 10.5. I guess it varies from computer to computer.
Only yesterday my GL9 refused to open and thanks to these forums, we found out that yesterday's Opera browser update was the culprit. Having had such quick success using these forums I thought I would give this annoying copying problem a try and see if there was some setting I could change or something I could do to correct the fault.
