Copying Used Clips

Typically I load all the clips I think I will use into the browser. When I'm done I always have a lot that never got used. Is there a way in FCP to automatically copy all used clips to a different folder so I can backup the whole project to a new hard drive?

Go to the manual and start reading about Media Manager. It'll do what you want but you've got to know what you're doing before you use it.

  • Trying to Paste Attributes - AUDIO ONLY. I copy the clip I want - then click Paste Attributes - previously a box appeared with options - now nothing appears.  Only happening with AUDIO attributes.  Anyone else experiencing this?

I am trying to Paste Attributes of AUDIO ONLY - from one clip to another audio clip.  These are the settings for the VOICE OVER on my 15 minute project.  This has worked before.  However now I copy the clip I want o use the attributes from - then I selct PASTE ATTRIBUTES. In the past a new dialogue box would appear and offer me the opportunity to select the attributes or effects I wanted to COPY and PASTE.  Hoever now - there is NOTHING.
I also want to REMOVE the ATTRIBUTES from 287 clips - but apparently I can only do this one at a time?  That seems like the most ridiculous thing in the world.  Certainly this can't be true?  Is there no way to remove ALL Attrributes from all of the clips at the same time?
    Anyone?  Anyone?

I cannot reproduce this. It is working as expected here: select a clip, copy, select another clip (or clips), paste attributes, and I get the usual window - this works for audio only clips as well as other clips.
I suggest you try deleting FCP X preferences with Preference Manager and try again.

Select the clips you want, and delete the effects in the Inspector by selecting and hitting the delete key.

  • Where has "Duplicate Project + Used Clips" gone in 10.2 ?

I want to backup my project and all the media it uses to an external hard drive.
In 10.1 I could use, Duplicate Project + Used Clips , but where is that in 10.2?

I'm assuming you mean 10.1.2, not 10.0.2. For the recent version, connect the external drive. Make a new library on it and set the library properties to be managed media, so the media in inside the library. Drag the project from the existing event on your drive to the event on the external drive, that will copy the project and the used media to that event. You'll also have the option to copy render and optimized media. I'd forget about that. Mail the drive and your colleague should be good to go.

  • How can I copy a clip to another video track?

I've been fiddling around to find a solution to this, but to no avail...
I have a video track containing a couple of clips. Now I want to copy a clip and paste it onto another video track in the same sequence. This seems to be an impossible task...
    How can I do that?
    Thanks for enlightening me!

Right click on the clip in the timeline you want to copy.  Select "copy".  Then select in the timeline the video track you want to copy TO.  Place your CTI (current time indicator) in the timeline where you want your clip to get pasted.  Then Go to your PrPro menu in the header, select EDIT>PASTE.  Voila!
What may confuse you and make it seem impossible is that you can right click on a clip in the timeline and "copy".  But when you go to right click and "paste" no context menu opens up.  You can of course use the EDIT>COPY and EDIT>PASTE command as well.
And what works even more easily is you can just use your Ctrl+C and Ctrl+V commands.  You can also copy and paste into the same video track and then just click and drag the new copy to whatever video track you want.
All of the above will copy and paste your audio tracks as well.  If you want to just copy the video then use the Alt key when selecting and it will only select the video or audio depending on what you try to select.
The basics are all well covered in Adobe Help and use this for starters:

  • How to copy iMovie clips to an sd card

How can I copy iMovie clips from an event and add to a blank SD card to give to a friend?

Assuming you are using iMovie 10 you select your library then right-click - Show Package Contents.  You will see a folder for each event.  Open the folder of the event you are interested in and you will find a folder "Original Media".  This contains the raw clips and stills and you can copy them with the Finder to the SD card.  (Don't move or delete anything in the library).

  • Copy Master Clip dialog

    Hi
Is there a way to COMPLETELY (permanently) disabling the "Copy Master Clip dialog" to pop again and again? I use many many master clips moving from project to project, and marking the "Apply to All Added Clips" option is just making it a bit less troubling.
    Thank you
    Gili

    I'll try to explain:
I get this Copy Master Clip Dialog almost every time I paste a clip that was copied from another sequence (and some times it happens when coping and pasting a clip in the same sequence). This dialog has 4 options, and doesn't matter what I do - it keeps warning me that some properties are different (in my case, one clip is marked "GOOD" and the other is not. I work with many clips, all were captured to one project.
It's really very annoying, answering this dialog every second time using the paste command,
    Thank you.

  • Logic X copying midi clips

Is anyone having problems copying midi clips where if you select 1 or 2 clips (where one on top of the other from a punch in), both clips do not copy when pasted, or cannot use the repeat command, etc? This problem never occurred on version 9 or the old 5, etc.
Any help would be appreciated. I really like using the new instruments in X, but this midi copying and not being able to paste properly is driving me back to 9.1.8.
Of course I can glue the parts together first, but I never had to do this step in the past. Multiple clips allows me more editing flexibility for muting, selecting, etc.

    Hi keysdude,
    Welcome to the Support Communities!
The information below from the Logic Pro X Manual may help you with this:

  • Jumpy, double-image on DVD copy using PE4

I am trying to use Premiere Elements 4.0 to copy an existing DVD (not copy protected) of someone riding a horse. I used PE to select the sequence on the original DVD, added a title, and then burned a new DVD. When I view the new DVD on a television, just like I would view a commercial movie, the motion of both the horse and the background fences is jumpy. Its difficult to describe, but while the original DVD shows very smooth motion, the new one almost looks as if there is a double-image in the horizontal direction, like a ghost. This seems particularly bad on a fence post it looks like a double image.
I repeated the entire copy project, this time taking note of the settings. When I started the new project, I verified that the settings were correct: NTSC-DV-Standard 48 kHz. The new copy had the same problem.
I thought maybe the clip copied by PE was under sampling the video. I checked the size of the clip in the PE folder, and compared the size on the original DVD, and they were very close, at about 125 MB.
For playback, I am using a Sony DVD player (model DVP-NS75H) and a Toshiba television (model 34HFX83). I am using the S-video connections between the DVD player and the TV. The TV screen has a 16:9 format, while the DVD is 4:3, and I thought maybe the problem was that the TV expands the video to fill the full width of the TV screen. However, when I reset the TV to play the DVD with a 4:3 format, the same problem persists.
I am running PE on a PC with Windows XP SP3. I have an AMD Athlon 64X2Dual processor, 2.2 GHz, with 1 GB RAM.
I would greatly appreciate any suggestions on how to improve the quality of the copy.
    Thanks!
    Dr. Rock

    Paul LS,
I hope you can answer a follow-up question. As I said earlier, your response was just what was needed to fix that problem.
I have continued to work on video projects, and I have encountered a new problem. The symptoms are identical to what I described on December 6. However, in this case, I cannot make the "jumpiness" go away either with, or without, reversing field dominance. I have burned DVDs with each option, and they are both "jumpy."
Is there another cause of the jumpiness? Are there types of video files that cannot be fixed with reversing field dominance? Suppose someone burned a DVD without knowing about reversing field dominance, and the jumpiness were burned into the clip. Then if I wanted to copy that clip, is it possible for me to make the correction in my editing, or is that possibility no longer available once the first person failed to make the correction? Do you have any other suggestions?
    Thanks in advance,
    Dr. Rock

  • How do I use clipping mask to cover unwanted background?

I'm practicing illustrator myself. I have a book for illustrator hoping it would show me step by step on how to use the masks to take away any unwanted background in a photo but it didn't do that. Can anyone teach me how or show me where to look for the information on how to use the clipping masks or other type of masks? I went to the adobe workshop video to look for the answer but it didn't show exactly as what i want to know. The image i'm practicing on is a family photo and i want to isolate everything to just one person in the photo so how can I do that using clipping mask? Thanks!!

oh~~~ so i still need to use pen tool to draw the shape out. I thought there's something i could use to make the shape easily. Stupid me XD
I was wondering if you could help me more...can you give me a rule of thumb like when is best to use illustrator to edit image or photoshop?
Thanks for your tip! I really appreciate it!!

  • Is this a bug?: copied movie clip has wrong frame rate and ruins the main movie's sync

    Hello,
I am trying to copy a movieclip with a frame rate of 30 frames per second to a movie that has a frame rate of 30 frames per second. Both movies are actionscript 3 movies. When I do this, my copied movie clip's frame rate reverts to 12 frames per second and all my audio synched animation is trashed. Then when I change it back manually to 30 frames per second it makes my main movie's stage animation go crazy at full possible speed and the audio is all out of sync. I have not set export for sharing or action script on this movie clip. I've tried other movie clips that are 30 frames per second and it is all crazy!
Is this a bug? What can I do? I've got 100s of movie clips I need to make. I can't keep remaking them just because flash has a screw loose. I'll go crazy!

  • ABAP+JAVA system copy using 3rd party export/import tools

    Hi all,
I am trying to do a homogenous system copy.  I am following the syscopy guide for SAP NW 7.0 SR3 ABAP+JAVA systems
We are running AIX 5.L and Oracle.
My question is this.  We are using an IBM XiV system for our disk storage, and we are able to restore from "snaps" which is their version of images.  Does anyone know if it is possible to restore or "import" the data in a system copy using an outside tool like this?  If so, do you have any information on how to?
I know it is possible to restore the database from an offline backup using BRTools rather than r3load and jload, and I just wanted to see if I can restore from a snap as it would save a lot of time in the procedure.
Any help or ideas would be much appreciated.
    Thanks!

    That approach is not supported.
The reason is: combined instances write the instance name and hostname in various places, on the filesystem in .properties files, in the JDBC configuration, depending on the java applications you run on top in various other places. What you're trying to do is effectively "renaming" an instance.
Technically it's possible to do it and to get it run, yes, but the supported way is running sapinst and choose ABAP + Java system copy. This will prevent you from lots of (not really documented) manual work after the copy.

  • HOW TO USE CLIPS FROM A DVD???

HOW TO USE CLIPS FROM A DVD???
i know this may be a stupid and obvious question but i can't seem to figure it out.
these are not copyrited dvds... mostly home movies and old home movies put onto dvd.
    thank you... much appreciated.

Studio X has given one suggestion.
    MPEG Streamclip is another:-
    http://www.squared5.com/
It is free but your computer may not have the QT MPEG 2 Playback Component which costs $20 from Apple as a download.
If you have access to an Analogue-DV converter you can use that. Also a DV camcorder which has Analogue IN.
If you have Final Cut Pro installed, you will have the QT component.

You can capture the complete clip and then apply Mark > DV Start/Stop Detect over the captured clip. You could get the best of two worlds so: smooth capture and clips creation.

If i copy a Cd (either music or audio) on my Windows based PC can I access the copy using itunes.  I have a ipod Nano, 7th generation.

You should use iTunes to "rip" (encode) the songs directly into your iTunes library from the CDs.  This article provides a good description of how that is done using iTunes.
    http://www.macworld.com/article/1156861/howto_rip_cds.html
If you use some other program to encode the content on those CDs, you can add any audio files that are in a format that iTunes can play (such as MP3 and AAC) to your iTunes library.  "Windows Media" files are not playable by iTunes, but the Windows version of iTunes can convert them while importing (as long as the files do not use DRM).
