Copyright permission for iTunes U User's Guide

I am teaching a workshop for faculty at my university on how to use iTunes U, and I want to provide copies of the User's Guide to workshop attendees. However, our Printing Services department will not copy it because it contains a copyright notice. The same goes for iDVD and iMovie, which I also teach in workshops to faculty. How do I go about getting copyright permission from Apple for these user's guides?

I would certainely look at http://www.copyright.gov/fls/fl102.html to see if the document would fall under fair use. If this workshop is non profit, meaning if its for teachers, faculty and students then I would think it would fall under fair use. Please correct me if i'm wrong

  • Firewall constantly asks connection permission for iTunes

I installed the new iTunes today 7.6 running on 10.5.1
It now always asks me if 'i want to allow incoming network connections' like it does the first time you run it. (only started doing this since update of iTunes to 7.6)
The same thing happens with Azureus file sharing, and has always done so since Leopard upgrade
I have said YES to both many times and both are listed in Prefs/Security/Firewall and the allow these programs button is checked.. so whats going on and how can i resolve this......

this is happening to me with adium and iTunes it was driving me crazy so i decided that since it was only asking to allow inbound traffic i would disable the firewall, because it wasn't an effective firewall the only thing that would make it a better firewall would be to ask permission for outbound traffic this is because most people have ROUTERS! By design these act as inbound firewalls because they must have an outbound connection to receive an inbound connection so I just disabled the firewall in 10.5 because it has become very annoying without adding to my protection. Turning off the firewall will solve this problem but you may be vunrable if you operate on a wireless network because other people could hop on the wireless network which can keep you secure, but you can enable passwords on the wireless, and I haven't seen any network exploits on the mac yet anyways :P

  • Firewall keeps asking permission for iTunes

I have the following happening, everytime I start iTunes: My Firewall, the one in Mac OS 10.6.3 (turned on), keeps asking me if i want to give permission to iTunes to allow for incoming connections. I answer with yes, and iTunes appears in the Firewall preferences screen as being accepted. But every following time i open iTunes, I get the same question.
iTunes works fine, but this is just annoying. I tried restarting the Firewall, adding the programs manually, same result.
As I think the Firewall should be on, this will just keep happening and in time will really start to annoy me.
Does anyone have this same problem, and more importantly,... does anyone have a solution??
    Kind regards, Peter

I have had the same problem, and in my estimation, it started with the iTunes update that included Ping. I have Ping turned off, and I get the same question everytime I launch iTunes. Quite annoying! I too have my firewall enabled and need it on at all times as I travel regularly. I have tried disabling the 'look for iPhone/iPad remotes' in the devices area of iTunes preferences, but that did not solve the problem for me. Coincidentally, my Airtunes setup was working fine (iPhone as Remote) until recently. A related problem?
My next approach will be to reinstall the software. However, the MBP is going in for service today anyway, so will wait until it's returned. Other solutions welcome! Strange that it's happening for some folks but not many. Or at least not many that are reading/posting here.

  • Second user account cannot load music to iTunes. I've confirmed permission for Itunes folders on ALL accounts and this still does not work!  Any other suggestions?

I'm opened every iTunes Media folder found on this Mac to Everyone for R&W access and still get this message of 'you don't have write access for you iTunes Media folder......'  This is extremely frustrating!

  • No longer have permission for itunes

    Hi all,
Switched on itunes today and it asked me to update which I admit I sort of did without thinking... it tried twice to update Quicktime and itunes, sat there for a while, gave me a failure notice that to be honest I don't recall, but it was vague... just that it wasn't able to... so now when I try to open Itunes I get a message saying I may not have permission.. I am the only user of this computer (Windows 7)  When I look under itunes in the programs folder it says I have no previous versions... so I"m not sure which version I even had, although I usually update whenever prompted....
    What do I do now?
    Sigh, thanks,

When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported then click on the Repair Permissions button. When the process is completed, then quit DU and return to the main menu. Select Restart from the Apple menu.

  • Calendar permission for cross-forest users

How can I grant mailbox folder like doctor's Outlook 2010 calendar to a cross-forest user like a receptionist.
The reception accepts and manages all booking for about 10 doctors and they used to work perfectly.  When reception complained that she started seeing Busy status for say 3 out of 10 doctors, I noticed the other 7 working calendars have DomainB\Reception
explicitly added on the Calendar permission while the 3 faulty ones don't.
    When I tried:
    Add-mailboxfolderpermission -Id 'DomainADoctor1:\calendar' -user 'DomainB\Reception' -accessrights editor
I simply get the error "The user "DomainB\Reception" is either not valid SMTP address, or there is no matching information."
Obviously, the cross-forest permission still works but I cannot make the powershell command to work.  I have also tried the ExFolder utility to no avail.  The old Exch admin has left the company.  We use Exchange 2010 SP2
    Thank you for any assistance.

Just to add more info, the reception mailbox is hosted on DomainA and it is linked to an external account DomainB\Reception.
    Alternatively, I tried:
    Add-mailboxfolderpermission -Id 'DomainADoctor1:\calendar' -user 'Reception @ DomainA.com' -accessrights editor
and the command works fine but when the Reception checks the calendar on both Outlook and OWA, she only sees "Busy" on each existing appointments and cannot add new.
For those calendars that work, the Editor permission shows "NT User: DomainB" while those that won't shows DomainB mailbox.
    Appreciate any help on this.

  • I may have a solution for choppy video playback for iTunes Windows users

    My setup:
    - Intel NUC (i5)
    - 8gb memory
    - Intel 5000 Graphics with 1GB memory (share of system memeory)
    - iTunes 12
    - iTunes library on NAS via GigaLan
Had problems with very choppy and freezing HD video playback in iTunes and tried everything... Every other player works fine.
    1. downgrade audio playback
    2. played with Quicktime settings
However, I think I might have a workaround. You need to do the following,
    1. Install Quicktime 7
    2. Install iTunes
    3. Download ffdshow (Sep 2014 version) and install the codecs: pretty much leaving all do default
    4. Set audio quality in Sound and Quicktime options in control panel, and iTunes to 16bit 48k
    5. In advanced options of Quicktime in control panel, deselect "Direct 3D" & "Enable directdraw on seondary display", ONLY tick "enable directdraw accerleration"
Well, at least this works for me for now.
    HOWEVER!!!
@Apple! You need to address this issue once for all, I can't believe there is no solution. As a paying customer who buy quite a few of your movies in iTunes, I expect to have a harssell free experience. Consumers should NOT have to go through all these troubles trying to fix a product you have released and making billions out of.
Reason why I switched from Android to Apple for my phones and tablets is becasue of the seamless user experience, regretfully I have to admit, this advantage is quickly going away. The amount of glitches in your recent ios updates and itunes are simply unacceptable.

Downloading videos on 7.0.2 hasn't worked as well as everyone had hoped. I still can't get mine to work, but i do know a few people who haven't had trouble with the newer itunes.

  • 10gR2 has no permission for "other" unix user

We installed 10gR2 on RHEL3, created a database. As user "oracle", we are able to connect to the database. As any other user, we are not able to get to sqlplus. The environment variables are fine for the user.
When checked, we found that $ORACLE_HOME has 740 permission, and many directories/files underneath have the same permission. So, the "other" user is not able to get to the executable, or even it does, it can't execute it.
Anyone seen this from 10gR2 install on Linux? Any good work around?
I have not seen this from 10gR1.

    Hi.
I have not tried to install 10gR2 yet, so I'll do a guess, ok? Maybe Oracle is doing this to get a more secure environment.
You asked for a workaround. Well, I have a procedure I follow in Oracle installations, and do not consider it to be a workaround. Anyway, it may be helpful for you.
On many of my installations, I've changed umask for "oracle" account to 0027, in order to get files created with 0640 and directories with 0750 permisssion flags. Doing this is a security issue: you prevents, on purpose, users from others groups even to access oracle directories and files.
Moreover, I use to create an "orauser" group, and make "oracle" acount use this group as a secondary group . On Linux, you may achieve this by typing:
groupadd orauser # Create a new group called "orauser"
gpasswd -a oracle orauser # Add user "oracle" to group "orauser"
id oracle # Just check the oracle account
Then, you may add any user you need to "orauser" group as well. In order to get all environment variables to be correctly set, I create a "oraenv.sh" shell script, to be run for all users on logon. The code bellow may be added on /etc/profile, or on a new shell script on /etc/profile.d (this directory is present on some Unix/Linux flavours):
    # Define location for oraenv.sh shell script.
    oraenvScript=/oracle/local/bin/oraenv.sh
    # Check if user belongs to groups: dba, oinstall, oper, orauser
    if [ `id | egrep '(dba)|(oinstall)|(oper)|(orauser)' | wc -w` -gt 0 ]
    then
    # Check if oraenv.sh file exists
    if [ -f $oraenvScript ]
    then
    # Source Oracle environment variables from oraenv.sh
    . $oraenvScript
    fi

    Hope this help.
    Best regards,
    Danilo

  • No writing permission for iTunes Media Folder!

I am trying to save my apps on my new Windows 7 PC but never manage to have writing permissions for the iTunes Media Folder. If I click on security and add my profile it will always go back to be locked! I know this is mor a Windows problem, but maybe somebody has made the same experience! Thx for any input at all!

This forum is for questions from those managing sites on iTunes U, Apple's service for colleges and universities to post educational material in the iTunes Store. You'll be most likely to get help with this issue if you ask in the general iTunes forums.

  • Recently Downloaded playlist for iTunes Match Users

Is there a way to create a "Recently Downloaded" smart playlist on your iPhone for people with iTunes Match?

Perhaps helpful to simply turn on the iCloud Status and iCloud Download indicators on in the main library view - in this way you can always see exactly where each Song is and the current status.
If you have a Song available but not locally the iCloud Download indicator will simply show the ability to download as an icon.

  • System asking for permission for incoming connections

When I restart my computer I get messages that ask if I want to allow incoming connections to programs such as qmaster and realplayer. I allow this. The message also says that I can change this in the firewall pane in system preferences. When I go there I see that both already allow incoming connections.
Why is the system asking me each time when I've already said that it is allowed?

I had the same problem for iTunes, Connect360 and Transmission. After reading many forum post and trying many things to no end this is what worked for me.
NOTE THIS WORKED FOR ME, IT MAY NOT WORK FOR YOU, DON'T BLAME ME.
    1. Log into an Admin account
    2. Go to the Firewall under the Security Pane in System Preferences and remove ALL programs listed under "Set access for specific services and applications." (you can try removing just the troublesome apps)
    3. Still in the Firewall tab, change setting to "Allow all incoming connections."
    4. In the Finder go to your Applications Folder and drag iTunes (or any other offending apps) to the trash and delete from the dock. *This SHOULD NOT delete your music, playlists, ratings or anything else, it did not on mine. But BACKUP if you want to be 100% sure*
    5. In the System Preferences, go to Accounts > Login Items and remove ItunesHelper.
    6. Restart your mac and log in as the Admin again.
    7. Download any apps you deleted, i.e. iTunes. Link: http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
    8. Install the apps (don't open them after install)
    9. Go back into the firewall settings and change it back to "Set access for specific services and applications."
    10. Open iTunes and any other apps you reinstalled.
    11. Add iTunes back to the Dock.
This should have fixed the problem, and iTunes should act like nothing ever happened...
We still need to add iTunesHelper back to the Login Items.
    12. In the finder go to Applications, and right-click on iTunes, select "Show Package Contents.
13.Open the System Preferences and go to Login Items under Accounts.
    14. Back in the finder (the iTunes Package Contents) go to Contents>Resources>iTunesHelper
    15. Drag iTunesHelper into the Login Items list.
This worked for me. I don't think it ever asked for permission for iTunes. And I have only been asked once for the other programs that used to ask me everytime.
Hope this helps you and everyone else with this problem.

  • I've just opened iTunes on my Mac with an error "The iTunes Library.itl file is locked, on a locked disk, or you do not have write permission for this file.". I created a shirred library so that all users on my Mac can access the same library. Help?

I have just opened ITunes on my Mac and the following error occurred "The iTunes Library.itl file is locked, on a locked disk, or you do not have write permission for this file.". When I setup my Mac I created a shared user area to contain my ITunes library so that I could share it with another user logged onto my Mac. However the error above gives me the impression that the library file is locked... I've checked and it does not seem to be locked under the "get info" fie information. Has anyone come across this before and found a solution?

You also need to make sure you have both read and write permission for the file, or for the whole iTunes folder for that matter.  That's also done in Get Info for the file or folder concerned.
Read the part about changing permissions on the iTunes folder in: https://discussions.apple.com/message/11583914

  • Is there any user guides for itunes 11.1.5?

I need a user guide for itunes 11.1.5 or the latest available. I am new to itunes and am having a lot of trouble..

    Hi,
Use the 'usual' user-exit for transactional data in R/3 EXIT_SAPLRSAP_001 (CMOD). Here your can overwrite VBELN for each extracted record with the value you want.
    Hope this helps.

  • HT201328 I have been given permission for unlocking my iphone 3 GS from Orange. I want to set up the phone for my wife to use with a new number and carrier. Do I unlock under my itunes account first or set one up for her and then unlock the phone.

I have been given permission for unlocking my iphone 3 GS from Orange. I want to set up the phone for my wife to use with a new number and carrier. Do I unlock under my itunes account first ( I now have a new iphone on this account) or set one up for her and then unlock the phone. I am worried about upsetting the new phone.

I would complete unlocking as is and then
restore as new once you know the iPhone is unlocked
Be aware Orange will process the request at their speed
one of the reasons they usually reside at bottom of User Sat surveys
    will likely take weeks
    This may also help

  • TS1717 unes, i have windows 8, i get the message, "the itunes Library .itl file is locked, on a locked disk, or you do not have write permission for this file.  how did this happen, how do i fix this?

the message"The itun, library .itl file is locked, on a locked disk, or you do not have write permission for this file". i have windows 8. how why did this happen? how do i correct this and prevent another occurance?  I am able to access itunes on my i5, ipad, and my old i4 that i use solely as my ipod now. At the time  problem occurred, i was connected to ext hard drive that hold over 190GB music, to add to my library. I am now unable to add to my library using my laptop.  any advise/help is greatly appreciated!!

I just had the same problem and was able to fix it after trying a couple of things I found after a search.
The solution that worked for me:
Find iTunes folder - it should be in C:\Program FIles (x86) or similar depending on your operating system
Right click the entire folder (no need to open it) and click properties
    Click the security tab
Click edit and highlight the user name under which you logged in.
Click the box next to full in the allow column, which should check everything
    Click apply
    Open iTunes
    This worked for me.
