Copyright watermark

Hi There
I am new to Apple and Aperture and Iphoto, which is the programs I now use for my images. I am also new to uploading my images to the web. Can someone please tell me if the above programs can create copyright watermarks on your images, and how do I do it.
Thanks

I just purchased Aperture 3 and needed to create a watermark. I was able to accomplish this using the steps below.
1. Scan the watermark into the computer or create it with an editing application. (I scanned my signature into my computer and saved it as a jpg. If you are worried about someone having your signature you may want to use a printed watermark.)
2. Open the scanned image in a photo editing application. (I used Photoshop even though I am very uncomfortable with its complexity.)
3. Adjust the size of the image using the," Image Size", tool under "Image" column in the Menu. (Do not use the Canvas Size tool. It did not work for me.)
4. Place the Layers palette on the desktop by selecting, "Layers" in the Window column at the end of the Menu.
5. Double click on the background icon in the Layers palette to open a new layer. It should be Layer 0.
6. Click, "OK".
7. Next select the Magic Wand in the tools palette and touch the background of the image. Click on the background to select the background. Click delete to make the the background disappear. The watermark should remain without the background.
8. If there are any areas enclosed in a loop, like a zero or, "O", take the magic wand and select the enclosed area to highlight it. Remove this area with the delete button. You can put the copyright mark on the image if you like by typing it next to your watermark.
9. Go to, "Save As", and save the image as a psd file where you can find it.
10. Quit the application and open Aperture and go to the preference folder for Aperture.
11. Select the Export icon and activate the, "Email photo export", preset button.
12. Select edit and go to, "Choose Image", to select your watermark with the transparent background.
13. Select a new preset on the right and name your new watermark.
14. The new watermark will appear in the, "Email photo export" options.

  • Add Control over Copyright Watermark Font

Now with the V1.3 we got the nice export size option based on longer/shorter image size, and I could stop to use additional resizing step upon export.
With one exception: The Watermark added by Lightroom is too huge for my taste. And I used to generate (say) twice bigger image, and resize it than to a smaller dimension. By doing so, the watermark got also scaled down in size.

I had my copyright watermark working nicely in my web exports after tweaking my fonts using
Jeffreys Lightroom Configuration Manager. However in the upgrade to 1.2 or 1.3 I lost my settings, and haven't been able to get it the right size since. So I'm left adding it outside of LR (dumb hassle) or leaving it off altogether (less than ideal). I hope it's possible to make an export plugin that will give control over some sort of watermark for export, but hopefully in time the watermark ability will grow from the print and slideshow modules into the web and export ones...

  • LightroomApplication.useWatermark does no longer create the Copyright watermark on exported JPGs

    Hi,
    I have a web gallery.
Since the update to LR3, the Copyright watermark is no longer added to the JPGs being generated.
Has anything changed ? I looked through the SDK documentation and can't find anything.
    Regards,

    Thanks for the info,
now I can stop searching what <I> did wrong ;-) Any news on the bugid and/or fixdate ?

  • Why is my copyright watermark so small?

My copyright watermark is really small (smaller than those of my colleagues who are exporting from LR in the same way that I am). I don't see any way to change it. Help!

Unfortunately, you can't resize it with Lightroom's own toolset. The workaround used by many is to use the Mogrify plug-in http://www.photographers-toolbox.com/products/lr2mogrify.php This plug-in provides a much more extensive list of export options than Lightroom's own export feature  http://www.photographers-toolbox.com/products/lr2mogrify.php?sec=quickguide
The difference between yours and theirs is more than likely due to the size of the exported image. As the size of the exported image gets smaller the text size will appear larger. This means that the watermark for a 600 by 400 pixel image will be larger than it would be for a 1500 by 1000 pixel image.

  • How to make a copyright watermark

New B here! I am wanting to make a copyright watermark... I am using windows, PSE8, and a laptop... so I dont have the number key pad... can anyone help me?

    Tracy,
Since since don't have a numeric keypad you can do this:
In Windows go to Accessories > System Tools > Character Map (the path to Character Map might vary depending on your Window version).
Choose your font, click on the copyright symbol, click the Select Button and the Copy button. This copies the symbol to the clipboard.
In PSE, activate the Text tool, type your text and when you are ready to add the copyright symbol paste it from the clipboard (Ctrl-V, or Edit > Paste).

  • Seems we're all having trouble with copyright watermarking. Any response from Adobe?

[LR 3.0 WIN] I've looked at the discussions here on the the topic, and there seem to be loads of problems and no answers. I thought LR3 was an upgrade from LR2, so was hoping the copyright marking of web images would be as good as or better, but in this respect it feels more like a downgrade.
I have loaded copyright information into the Copyright metadata field of all my (RAW) images for a web gallery. When I choose Simple Copyright Watermarking I see nothing on my large images (which are web size). Even if something were visible, there appears to be no control over its size or position. When I choose and set up a Watermark Preset, I can use fixed text or graphic, but apparently nothing that relates to the Copyright metadata. Like many people, I produce galleries with work from various authors, and each needs its own copyright marking. As things stand, I can't use LR3 for my web galleries (one of the main reasons I upgraded), and will have to continue to use LR2 for this.
Can we please have a comment from Adobe, to tell us where we're all going wrong, or a promise of an early fix?

It is a bug and I hope the bug should be fixed in the next release.
The longer term fix may rely on tokens, but I feel the better place to look is the Edit Watermarks dialog. At the moment you can choose Text or Graphic, but not a metadata field that's varied with each image.
The other day I had a need similar to Alan's, but in Export. I had images from multiple photographers, and while Simple Copyright Watermark works in Export it was useless in my case because the client wanted the watermark in the top right. I therefore had to create one watermark preset per photographer, and run one export per photographer. I did look into doing this by a plug-in but (a) Export requires links to a preset (b) you can't create watermark presets on the fly (c) text file edits to an existing watermark preset aren't picked up by LR without a restart.
Giving Edit Watermarks the option to pick up a metadata field would resolve more than the Web problem, and Simple Copyright Watermark could then be retired.

  • Please fix copyright watermark placement in web module

In lightroom 1.1 the placement of the copyright watermark of portrait orientation pictures is wrong if I preview in browser or export the gallery.
In the preview window of lightroom the watermark is in the lower left corner but after export or preview in browser it is in the upper left corner with a wrong orientation.
    My system is XP.

Are the answers the correct ones?
Heres my TranslatedStrings.txt file: placement detail is in the file and my font is called Cracked, you need the exact correct name for it to work

  • Add Copyright Watermark

I see in Sean McCormack's latest posting on
Lightroom News that export now has an
    i "Add Copyright Watermark"
    option. Hooray!
Can anyone show us some examples of what the watermark looks like?
    Thanks,
    Simon

hi, sorry if this is a duplicated question, but one thing is not understandable for me...
i got my brand nw boxed lightroom yesterday, and in the attached book the 'manual' said that the 'add copyrigth watermark' feature at the export dialog uses your identity plane for it... but it is completly un-true, because this feature use the embedded copyright metadata in the image... is it true? or maybe i was bad?
and the other question is, if it really use the embeded metadata instead of the 'wrote in the manual' identity plane, then how can i change the layout of it? i did not find the way to change the font-stlye and usually nothing...
anyway lightroom is my best friend, throught to long beta phase im in love with it, just i completly not understand why could not use the identity plane as watermark:(
sorry for my hard english, hope that everything is understandable...
    ps. im on windows version...
    thanks a lot in advanced,
    bye...

  • Copyright watermark stopped saving onto my images

For some reason I am now not able to savecopyright watermark on any images on my lightroom 3, any ideas please?
    Many thanks love shell xx

This may seem stupid, but have you checked the Metadata of all the images missing the Watermark to see that the Copyright field is filled in on them?

  • How to add a copyright watermark

I have tried using the Alt + 0169 also tried Alt G. neither method works, the symbol does not appear.

You need to use the alpha-numeric keys on the right side of a standard desktop keyboard
You can also access the symbol via the character map found under accessories on a Windows machine. Then, copy/paste
A really neat way is from within Elements. Access the Custom Shape Tool, go to the Symbols library, and the copyright symbol is right there.

  • Export web fonts for copyright watermark

I'm rebranding my photography website in Muse. I'm using a web font for the name of my business. I want to use the name as a watermark and have it match the website for consistent branding. What's the best way to do this? I used a screen capture but that's less than ideal. thank you.
[Moved from the generic Cloud forum to the specific Program forum... Mod]

You should be able to use that same font in any of the Adobe Creative Cloud programs. So you can add the watermark to your images with Photoshop or Lightroom.

  • Web gallery watermark/copyright

I searched for this topic, but didn't find it. I'm wondering if its possible to customize the way the copyright/watermark appears on the images in the web galleries, with respect to font size, opacity and position. As they appear now, they are small and in the lower left corner of the image. For my business website (where the customers are very tempted to download the images w/o permission), I prefer the watermark across the middle of the image, faded but still very legible.
Perhaps this can go in the Feature Requests if it is not there already?

Not as yet. There are already various Copyright/watermark requests in. YOu can do a TPI overlay as you like it for Slideshow and Print, but not yet for Export or Web because it takes advantage of the ID Plate (used differently in Web and not in Export at all).

LR Extras for more info on TPIs

  • BUG: Export does not watermark copyright with tiffs

Let me add one more little issue to the grand line of issues with this software: When you export using ctrl-shift-E (I found only this cumbersome shortcut for export, correct me if I am wrong) a large window pops up, lightroom is blocked till you click Export. Output file is chosen to be a JPEG. One of the options in this window is "Add Copyright Watermark," what works with RAW files, but when the source is a TIFF, this watermark will not written to the jpeg.

So you may need to use an EXIF writer first to write to the scan TIFF. LR to write to Metadata fields that are not there.

  • In Export module, Simple watermark does not appear in my photos

I make it a habit to always place a simple watermark on all my photos during Export. When i was using LR3 this always worked, but when I recently updated to LR5.2 the Copyright watermark does not show in my photos. I tried several repetitions exporting to .JPEG files, making sure that the Watermarking box is checked. Still, the photos do not show the Copyright symbol and my name.
    What is happening?

    Jim,
Following your last post lthis is what I did:
    1. In LR5.2, (Library) Export Module, I clicked on the "Export' box
    2. In Export File the following shows:
         Metadata
         Include: All metadata
          "Remove location info" box checked
         Watermarking
Watermark box at left checked, and selection checked for "simple copyright watermark"
In the iMac Pictures folder I looked up the exported file and it shows no watermark
When this same file is uploaded to Flickr, no watermark appears.
I am wondering if. under metadata, I should select "Simple copyright" instead of "All metadata."
