Core Center causes crash with XP SP2

I've recently configured a non-admin account on my P4 XP Pro computer, and encountered a problem that is well described back in October of 2004, where core center causes the computer to crash. See this link for details . . .

Given these problems, and nothing in that thread suggesting a resolution, I'm thinking of maybe just turning off Core center with Hijack This. Do I really need Core Center or something like it to safely operate? I'm not overclocking, and I have an extra fan in my case.

No you absolutely do not need CoreCenter at all.
CC is only meant for layman o/c'ing and this software does too many funny stances than what we could handle so try to get rid of it asap.

Core Center under XP with user-rights only

I am using WIN-XP SP2 prof.
I have installed core-center in latest version.
Everything is alright, when i am logged in as a Admin.
But when i login as a normal user I can not start Core-Center via
Startup-Folder.
I don't want give the Admin-password to other users.

Some other possibilites:
1. You can have the complete information if the data is submitted in FDF, XML, or XFDF. I opened the submit box in AA7 and noted the settings. The fact I can open it in AA7 was a bit surprising. The reason I suggest the data files is that they do not require extended rights and can simply be impored to the form on your end to get the identical results as if the whole form had been sent.
2. I could only play the media file, but that is likely a capability of AA7 rather than an issue with flash and such.
3. E-mail may be an issue. Some systems require additional work to be able to use E-mail for form submission. Prior to AA9, mailto require MAPI on the client machine.
Don't know if any of these help or not, but at least they are some more tidbits of info.

Core Center Causing reboot!!!!

I seem to be having an issue with Core Center, every time I load it my system crashes. I have all the latest drivers installed, I even tried the Omega drivers for the video card. A little help from anyone trying the same setup would be greatly appreciated:help:

Tried the website download, no good ran the memtest and found 1 stick of bad Mushkin ram, RMA'ing that.
I guess this will be the second bad board, if I don't install Core center she runs and posts fine, but once I reboot after install I can get to the welcome screen then it dies with a stop error0x0000008e and lists rushtop.sys which I found is in the Core Center file.
Maybew someone can give me a better idea of what I did wrong, I think I'm wearing out my XP install disc.

What causes crash with "Illegal instruction" message?

Hi,
I'm a bit of an amateur, so thanks for any help.
This program I'm working on tends to crash with a message saying "Illegal instruction" in the Terminal (where it was opened). There are no details, and I don't know what could be causing it. It's sort of a complicated program, with lots of parts, each of which have worked fine independently or in other programs before, so I don't know what code I could show you that might help explain the problem.
I'm just wondering what this message is all about, or what types of things cause it. I can't find any information on the java site about it, but if someone knows of a place where it's documented in some form, I would really appreciate it.

hey thanks, this looks like it's on the right track.
But I'm still not sure what limit has been reached. What are the limits? Are they documented somewhere?
I've been dividing up methods here and there, like the guy on that message board did, but his was specifically a huge static method, which I don't have. But I've been splitting other stuff up anyway, to no help.

Keeps crashing on start up! Can start without core audio, but crashes with!

I've run into a strange problem, when starting Logic it keeps on crashing after core audio initialize. I have tried starting whilst holding control to select start without core audio. This works and the app starts, i then go to audio preferences to select a audio driver to use. This is the strange bit i think?
It only gives me my audio input options, Built MIC, Built Input/ Built Input Aggregated. It does not give me an output option. I recall this not being normal? I am right or wrong here?
I also have a motu 828 which when connected and selected also crashes the program. It was all working fine one day and not the other, i have tried a reinstall twice also. I have no idea of what is happening so any insight and help would be great.

I have finally solved the problem. Do not use melodyne with LOGIC 8 it will not work! To run both on the same machine the melodyne rewire files must be removed from application support.

The range between the min and case case values was causing an overflow, as it was larger than 2^3 -1. I have just fixed this bug.
Until the next compiler drop, you can work around the problem by making one of the case values non-const (example below), which will cause the compiler to not try and create a lookup switch table and avoid the buggy code path.

Core Center causing me issues - is this a viable alternative?

Hi - I have been using corecenter ONLY to adjust fan speed and to monitor core temperature. However, corecenter seems to be overriding my bios settings (I have set up the board for overclock in BIOS). An example of this is corecenter reducing the vcore to that which is set in the software rather than in bios - same goes for FSB.
So - I have installed MBM for monitoring temps and that is going fine. My question is, can I wire my CPU fan (Zalman 7700) straight in to my fan controller which has dials to control rpm? Is this ok to do or is it a crazy idea?

i tried it and everything is working fine. The motherboard can not see my CPU fan at all and is not shutting down.
I have cool n quiet disabled and am not using smart cpu fan target.

Video capture causes crash with my g4mx440 vtp

I have a g4mx440 vtp video card with a kt3 ultra motherboard and athlon 1800+ processor. i have loaded the latest vga driver and now i loaded wincoder and winproducer2.0. whenever i click on the media input tab, my computer reboots. i am using the driver with the cd (nvidia wdm video capture (universal) version 1.1.1.0). can anyone tell me exactly how to fix this.please.

Not sure what OS you are running, but if it is Win2k or WinXP get the Detonator 4 drivers.
Also get the latest 4in1 drivers from Via.

NX7600GT Diamond Plus and fan speed with Dual Core Center

I just got a NX 7600GT Diamond Plus for my HTPC. I noted that Riva Tuner and other utilities are not able to control the fan speed of the video card. The only way one can control the fan speed is via Dual Core Center and 3D Core Cell. The problem is that the default setting for fan speed on Dual Core Center is too high and clearly audible. How can I get Dual Core Center to start with user defined presets during windows start-up/boot-up ?
What I want to do is to put the fan into 'SILENT' mode automatically during Dual Core Center start-up. Any ideas / suggestions ?

K8N Master-2 FAR and 64 bit Core Center

Has anyone here had any success getting the Core Center to work with XP 64 bit with the 9620 board?? The 32 bit version that ships with the board will not run on 64 bit systems, and the 64 bit version brings up a message that "this application is not compatable with this motherboard" (or something to that effect.)
Is there any utility that can monitor the CPU and board temperatures in XP 64 bit? I use Photoshop CS2, which tends to push the system rather hard, and it'd be useful to keep track of whether the system is oveheating. So far I found a third party utility but there's no guarintee that it's reading the sensors correctly.
If both CPU's are staying 35-40 Celcius and the board is around 45, is that unusual? I've got fans out the wazoo, since this is a production machine and it just has to work.

Core center alarms

Not sure what's going on here. New PC and new to Opteron. I installed the core-center application (MSI said the Alert 4 wasn't supported on my motherboard) and when it starts it constantly alarms.
It's very hard to see what its complaining about, but the only thing that's a little strange is the RPM on the fans are all 0.
When I reboot and go into health status the fans are running and are set not disabled.
Anyone got any clue why corecenter might complain in this way?

The Master needs a differen Core-Center to start with, look at the Server/Workstation downloads.
If you have installed that special version and it still sounds the alarm, click on the right-red-arrow and move the sliders.
It's probably sounding the alarm because of a fan running too slow to be measured by corecenter.

Problems with Live Update 3 and Core Center

Hi All
I have just put together the system listed below. On the first boot-up screen "Live Update 2" is displayed on the top right of screen. I installed "Live Update 3" from the Drivers & Utilities CD supplied with the Mobo. On rebooting, the computer crashes straight after loading Windows. The problem occurs even after I downloaded the latest version.
I also installed Core Center from the same CD. This works fine until I try to switch user. It then comes up with the error "No Hardware Monitor Found" and crashes. The same thing happens after downloading the latest version.
What could be causing this?

Having trouble with voltage alarm in core center

I hadn't used this comp for about a year, just put it back together and added the kingston ram to it that a buddy gave to me. Just found Core Center online and installed it. The problem i'm having is that the alarm is going crazy. Don't have alot of experience overclocking, and i'm not actaually trying to at all. I've been having programs close and games freeze up because of overheating. This is what I see when I look at the core center.

Yea its at 2.5 i beleive. I reset everything to default, and it has been since i put everything back together. Before i had core center installed it was crashing guild wars, and wow consistantly because of overheating. I'll unistall core center and get a monitering app instead.

CMS crash with core files and multiple report output generation

Happy new year to everyone,
Our BOXIR3.1SP6FP2 env has recently started behaving weirdly by triggering multiple output to users inbox and email notification out of scheduled reports. Also we have noticed the CMS crash with core file (almost 4GB) generation at the time of multiple report output.
Most of the times, CMC crashes and recycles itself. At few times, CMS services alone went shut down.
OS details: RHEL 5.5, 32 GB RAM, 8 core processor on each of the clustered node, Oracle 10GR2.4 CMS DB server, 11GR2.4 oracle reporting DB server and oracle 11.1.0.6 client.

Below is the observation as part of troubleshooting:
1. CMS breaks at threshold of 3.9 G.
2. CMS DB sits in a different Linux server than BOE server.
3. All core files were generated by boe_cmsd process and are almost 4GB in size (same as max threshold which it breaks).
4. Shell script which I've added in the BOE servers shows that the CMS DB is available/connecting at the time of CMS crash.
5. SAP analysed the Core files and skeptical about the below lines.

I'll continue troubleshooting with a hope to fix it at the earliest.

Inetd service/program crashes with core dump in Solaris 8 zone/container

I have developed a service in C that is launched from inetd when something comes on a specific port.
When a connection is opened to the port a core dump is created in the same directory where the executable file is located.
If you run the same service program from the command line everything is working perfect.
This is running in a Solaris 8 zone/container on a Solaris 10 machine.
Everything is set correctly in /etc/inetd.conf and in /etc/services.
I have even stripped down the program to a hello world program that is just printing a string to the screen and it is still crashing with a core dump.
