Core Center Going Crazy? :S

Yeah well all of a sudden my Core Center is telling me that my CPU Fan is spinning at 0RPM and it's allerting me and so, But I can like clearly see that fan is still spinning...
This happend like 5 minutes after I turned my pc on.
Then I went and checked in the BIOS and there it said for like 10 sec that it was spinning at 0RPM then all of a sudden it went to 700RPM and then to the usual 2200RPM.

yes that option is enabled (cpu temp controller). And i mean CORE CENTER says that the CPU fan is spinning at 0RPM which means it has to have completely stopped but i still see it spinning.
Yes, we know, you said it in your first post and the point was answered. Here's a repeat. If the fan is running slower than a certain speed, it may not register and will show up as zero even if it is spinning.

• MSI Core Center Gone Crazy!

Hello.
I'm using an MSI K8N Neo2 Platinum board with an AMD X2 4400+ CPU. (2.2GHz = 200MHz x 11)
I'm not doing any overclocking.
Core Center worked fine until I installed AMD's Processor Drivers.
I wanted to try Cool'n'Quiet, but benchmarking revealed that the system's performance degraded with it enabled... So I disabled Cool'n'Quiet, and then I notices something weird in Core Center: for some reason the clock speed alternates constantly between 200MHz to 74-45MHz to 327MHz!
This is really bizzare, and even frightening... Could I have damaged something in the CPU?
I tried to uninstall the AMD driver, but the clock speed in Core Center still fluctuates!
Then I installed it again - it didn't help.
Cool'n'Quiet is disabled in BIOS, the Power Scheme is "Always On" and as I said no overclocking is being done.
PS: in CPU-Z the clock speed is stable at 200.9MHz x 11.
Can anyone explain this to me? It's really frightening, I'm afraid that the CPU will burn or something...
Please help...
Thanks in advance!

I've uninstalled Core Center. It's just too buggy. But other programs do weird stuff as well; SpeedFan, for example, makes my CPU fan very noisy, and I don't want to control the speed by hand - the motherboard does fine job controlling it automatically.
About Vcore, I'm just asking if 1.30 is the right value, because I've read somewhere in this forum that it's supposed to be 1.40 for 90nm AMD CPUs.
I don't want to overclock; my system is fast enough as it is...
I havn't changed anything the the Core section of te BIOS.
My BIOS version is 1.9, and I've chosen 50 degrees as "Smart CPU Fan Temperatue". choosing 40 degrees makes the fan noisy as a tractor...
Right now the CPU temperature is always about 48 degrees C, and under load it's 50 or even 51 degrees.
Do you get 31 degrees when idle with your 4400+ processor?
What kind of cooling are you using? I'm using the fan that came with the processor... Perhaps switching to a Zalman fan will solve this problem?
Or is my BIOS just reporting wrong temperatures?
PS: SpeedFan reports my Northbridge temperatue as 45 degrees C... Is this too high as well?
Thanks!

• Game Center going Crazy!

So I have had the same apple ID account for almost three years now and I have downloaded many games over that time. I go a lot on game center to check all my game stats and so on. So one day I go onto game center as I do normally and click on games and upon doing so It says I have no games. I even click on friends and it says I have no friends even though I have 16 on game centre. But if I click on me it still shows my name and the number of friends and games. What should I do!?

I have the exact problems with Game Center - was working fine for 6 months no problems. When we open up a Game Center game to play, it also has this pop-up : Game Center Account Required - Reason: The requested operation could not be completed because local player has not been authenticated - Cancel or Login. We select Login and can then play the game. This is happening on our iPad Mini running ios7, but not on our 4S iPhone running ios6.

• Alarm going off in core center

I have an alarm going off in core center Theres a red arrow next to wherer it says 12 v. then in the white box it says 10.95 v any one know what it means and what I could do about it I don't know whats normal for the readings I get in core center. My pc has been locking up and certian games wont load unless it's really cool in the room.

Good questions! Some folks have acceptable readings with CoreCenter, by verifying them with the Hardware Monitor (in BIOS). I compared them with my SpeedFan program, and as far as temps go..I use a laser temp gun to check CPU, case, and video card temps. Voltages on the PSU can be verified with a voltmeter of course. The specifications on your NB fan should be in your manual. Or you can check out this thread at Anandtech:

• K8T Neo - Core Center alarm going off, nothing out of spec?

I've been running my A64 machine on my K8T Neo board for about 9 months now, with no problems at all. I've been running Core Center all along, to get Cool 'n Quiet underclocking. Until today, it's worked flawlessly.
Tonight, when I booted my machine up (Windows XP SP1), the interface popped up from the minimized icon, and the alarm started going off. From what I can tell, if the dashboard sees something out of spec, it's supposed to flag it in red. When I look at all of the reported values, they look the same as they've always looked.
I went to the MSI site and downloaded/installed v. 2.0.0.4, to see if it was a software problem. Same thing is happening. Here are the values being reported (again, they seem to be the same as always).
Vcore: 1.10
3.3v: 3.30
+5V: 5.00
12V: 12.08 (varies by a coulple hundreths)
CPU Temp: 34c
SYS Temp: 38c
CPU Fan: 1700rpm
NB Fan: N/A
Current freqency (A64 3000+): 204Mhz x 5.0 -- 1020 Mhz (idling)
I'm hesitant to just silence the alarm, in case there's something seriously wrong. Multiple reboots haven't changed anything. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Good to know that it's not a unique situation. I really want to keep using Cool n' Quiet for the automatic underclocking to reduce the heat (at 100% load, my quiet fan doesn't cool all that well -- within range, but still high), without having to manually step the system back up every time a processor load hits.
See any problems with running Core Center with the alarm turned off, then Speedfan to actually monitor the system? Or is there any way to get Cool n' Quiet without Core Center?
Interestingly enough we have the same CPU, and your 1.1V vcore is exactly what I get at 1000Mhz. You get "cool" (cpu Mhz throttling) by virtue of the AMD processor driver and "Minimal Power management" setting in Control Panel, Power Options. If you shut down corecenter and watch your system, if you see what I see on my system, the CPU will stay at 1000Mhz but the fan will not be controlled. Enter - speedfan for fan control. It does a real nice job, with no alarms.

• Having trouble with voltage alarm in core center

I hadn't used this comp for about a year, just put it back together and added the kingston ram to it that a buddy gave to me. Just found Core Center online and installed it. The problem i'm having is that the alarm is going crazy. Don't have alot of experience overclocking, and i'm not actaually trying to at all. I've been having programs close and games freeze up because of overheating. This is what I see when I look at the core center.
on the left
1.39 v
Vcore
2.72-82 v (flashing red)
3.3V
4.97 v
+5v
11.84-90v
+12V
If I open the tab, the FBS says 200mhz and is flashing blue to black
doesn't look like i'm having any problems with cpu temp. 35 'C
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

do you know how to enter into bios if so then click on default save and exit then see what happens, somehow it looks the voltage for memory has been set 2.7 or 2.8 volt which is too high it should be 1.8 or 2.5 volt
Yea its at 2.5 i beleive. I reset everything to default, and it has been since i put everything back together. Before i had core center installed it was crashing guild wars, and wow consistantly because of overheating. I'll unistall core center and get a monitering app instead.

• When using Live View, site looks great, browser testing goes crazy

I am creating a new website (and I am really unexperienced with Dreamwaver CS5). But when I check my site using "Live View" everything looks great, the way it is supposed to. Then when I go to test it in my browswer (Primary browser is Chrome) it goes crazy: I at first noticed that I had saved one copy as an .asp but then resaved it to .xhtml I did delete the first line of code already that the .asp file created as it kept giving me an error on line 1.
Then I tried to do a spry drop-down menu bar, which I have deleted since I thought I was doing something wrong with that and I should just stick to what I half-way know.
If I were to preview the template page it gives me this error:
This page contains the following errors:
error on line 150 at column 76: error parsing attribute name
Below is a rendering of the page up to the first error.
Here is line 150:
if (a[i].indexOf("#")!=0){ d.MM_p[j]=new Image; d.MM_p[j++].src=a[i];}}
If I were to test the index.xhtml page in the browser, it ignores most images (all but one), and the first nav-bar (an editable region) appears to the left instead of under the header. The layout is totally ignored and everything is on the left-hand side of the screen instead of in a two column layout.
I am not testing this on a server just off of my computer.
I am assuming that the error has something to do with the .asp file I first did and when I resaved it, since I don't know what I would be looking for, is still in there screwing it up.
Here is the code from the template page:

1) Padding is only placed on the top and/or bottom of the divs. The elements within these divs have padding on their sides. This saves you from any "box model math". Keep in mind, if you add any side padding or border to the div itself, it will be added to the width you define to create the *total* width. You may also choose to remove the padding on the element in the div and place a second div within it with no width and the padding necessary for your design.
2) No margin has been given to the columns since they are all floated. If you must add margin, avoid placing it on the side you're floating toward (for example: a right margin on a div set to float right). Many times, padding can be used instead. For divs where this rule must be broken, you should add a "display:inline" declaration to the div's rule to tame a bug where some versions of Internet Explorer double the margin.
3) Since classes can be used multiple times in a document (and an element can also have multiple classes applied), the columns have been assigned class names instead of IDs. For example, two sidebar divs could be stacked if necessary. These can very easily be changed to IDs if that's your preference, as long as you'll only be using them once per document.
4) If you prefer your nav on the left instead of the right, simply float these columns the opposite direction (all left instead of all right) and they'll render in reverse order. There's no need to move the divs around in the HTML source.

Instructions

Be aware that the CSS for these layouts is heavily commented. If you do most of your work in Design view, have a peek at the code to get tips on working with the CSS for the fixed layouts. You can remove these comments before you launch your site. To learn more about the techniques used in these CSS Layouts, read this article at Adobe's Developer Center - http://www.adobe.com/go/adc_css_layouts.

Clearing Method

Because all the columns are floated, this layout uses a clear:both declaration in the .footer rule. This clearing technique forces the .container to understand where the columns end in order to show any borders or background colors you place on the .container. If your design requires you to remove the .footer from the .container, you'll need to use a different clearing method. The most reliable will be to add a <br class="clearfloat" /> or <div class="clearfloat"></div> after your final floated column (but before the .container closes). This will have the same clearing effect.

Logo Replacement

An image placeholder was used in this layout in the .header where you'll likely want to place a logo. It is recommended that you remove the placeholder and replace it with your own linked logo.

Logo Replacement

Be aware that if you use the Property inspector to navigate to your logo image using the SRC field (instead of removing and replacing the placeholder), you should remove the inline background and display properties. These inline styles are only used to make the logo placeholder show up in browsers for demonstration purposes.

To remove the inline styles, make sure your CSS Styles panel is set to Current. Select the image, and in the Properties pane of the CSS Styles panel, right click and delete the display and background properties. (Of course, you can always go directly into the code and delete the inline styles from the image or placeholder there.)

Backgrounds

By nature, the background color on any div will only show for the length of the content. This means if you're using a background color or border to create the look of a side column, it won't extend all the way to the footer but will stop when the content ends. If the .content div will always contain more content, you can place a border on the .content div to divide it from the column.

• Mac Os 10.6.6 update start the fans goes crazy

Hi to all
Some months ago (almost a year from now) my mac start to become hot after only a few minutes it started up and the fan goes crazy but I never realize why. I made some search on the internet but the only answer I found was using some software to reduce fan speed. It didn't work. I run the Hardware test but nothing strange. I also took my macbook to an apple certified repair center but they told me that nothing was wrong. I also ask to another repair center but same thing. So I left my macbook as it was with this super fan noise all the time. A quite disturbing thing but there was no solution and for what I'm doing my machine is ok so why change it? (It was the only solution they gave me)
Last day my hd broke down so I had to replace it. I took my macbook pro a1211 model to an apple repair center they change the hd with a new one.
So I reinstall everything for the beginning. I took my snow leopard dvd formatted the new hd, installed the os, iWork 2008, iLife 2008, Mamp, CSS Edit, Espresso, Pixelmator and few other application such as Firefox, Camino, Etc...
I use the macbook with mac os 10.6, because I had to finish some work, and with my big surprise for two days the machine was super silent no fans, no hot body ..... nothing. I never reboot it and still no fans and hot body wow.
Today I wanted to install the developer kit with ios 4.2 and so I had to update the Mac os x to version 10.6.6 as soon as I made the update after the reboot the fans start again to go like crazy and after 15 minutes of work the macbook body become very hot.
The question is why?
Anyone can help me?
Thanks in advance
Gianfranco

HI R C-R.

Nothing more. All the software is updated.
Here the data but as you can see nothing strange but fans are on at the maximum speed!

• Core Center Related

I am getting:
1st Line: Vcore 1.49V
2nd Line: 2.91V
3.3V under line 2
3rd Line 5.03
5V under line 3
4th Line 12.08v
12 under line 4
and the alarm goes off, I am very new and would be most thankful for any help.

First off if the computer is working and stable you don't want to change any of those. Second Core Center is the wrong place to change any of those values unl;ess it is for a specific test. I don't ever recommend making any changes with Core Center for any reason. In fact I don't recommend Core Center at all.
Best to restart with Stock values and if you are looking to play around ask first so that you knopw what changes to try and make and how to test it to see if any changes have the correct affects.
LOL Now I sound like I am talkking down to you. I know that but I can not know what level of knowledge you have. If what I said offends you please forgive me. I am just trying to help someone I don't know and over the internet to boot. That is never really that easy to do.

• Core Center Question ?

hello guys,
i wanted to know about corecell feature and and core center i am using latest version now and my CPU fan is usually at 4440 RPM even with gaming but my system temperature increases from 43-47 usually when gaming ? is this ok and my CPU temperature is 51C because its Prescott and i cannot do anything about it ? i wanted to know does corecell protect our computer from electric shock, overheating without Core Center or it would not without core center becasue the first time after installing windows xp service pack 1 (clean installation) i hear loud noise usually the CPU fan is on full speed but as soon as i installed the latest version of Core Center it adjusts it automatically and quietly and should i change my CPU priority for Core Center as maximum does that do any thing and i wanted to know i have DDR 400 Mhz but in bios it says DDR 333 because i have 533 FSB CPU is that right ? well does that mean i wasted my money on this or does that mean an upgrade to FSB 800 will make that better.

well, your MSI P4 mobo is your friend, because it shuts the system down, when the CPU is about to overheat. and the function "spread spectrum" helps preventing all static issues. but you should disable it, when you overclock. at least its recommended that way in the manual.
your temps seem fine to me, and they look even better because you have a Prescott.
dont change any settings in corecenter. everything is just fine there. i think it reports the temps a little higher than they actually are, but thats just my two cents. but 4400RPM is really fast! my CPU fan isnt reported to be faster than 2800 at most. still enough for my CPU.
no dude, everything is fine with your system. DDR400 memory goes in sync with FSB800 CPUs, such as the northy c versions.

• Kernel 2.6.32-ARCH slows down and syslog-ng goes crazy *

Hi, it's a month now that randomly my computer slows down.
I took a look with "iotop" and found that syslog-ng was going crazy writing continuosly to the logfile.
taking a look at these files i found this message that gets written over and over again:

• Core center alarms

Not sure what's going on here. New PC and new to Opteron. I installed the core-center application (MSI said the Alert 4 wasn't supported on my motherboard) and when it starts it constantly alarms.
It's very hard to see what its complaining about, but the only thing that's a little strange is the RPM on the fans are all 0.
When I reboot and go into health status the fans are running and are set not disabled.
Anyone got any clue why corecenter might complain in this way?

The Master needs a differen Core-Center to start with, look at the Server/Workstation downloads.
If you have installed that special version and it still sounds the alarm, click on the right-red-arrow and move the sliders.
It's probably sounding the alarm because of a fan running too slow to be measured by corecenter.

• Controlling fans with Core Center?

I feel such a fool, but I can't see any way of controlling fan speeds with MSI's Core Center?
The centre panel listss the CPU/NB temperature and fan speeds... if I click on the red arrow to the side of that, the extra panel that slides out simply gives me options on when the alarms should sound, based on either temperature or fan speed.
Am I meant to increase the fan speed by raising the minimum fan speed alarm threshold? Not only is that a daft way of doing it, but it doesn't seem to have any effect...?

Quote from: petsoukos on 25-March-06, 21:16:41
Why isn't there a fan control for the NB Fan? The stupid thing runs at 7000rpm (according to CoreCenter) I need to control it coz not only it makes so much noise but it is also damaged making the noise 10 times louder and I have no time to RMA the board.
Please....I need to control it manually or I'm going to shut it down completely (ripping the freakin thing of the board).......
While I dunno about your mbrd, the NB fans on a couple of MSI mbrds I've played with are just not really speed controllable. With Speedfan, I can reduce the speed but below 90% or so, the fan starts to stall and then oscillates between nearly stopped and its max speed. I have mine, on a K8N Neo2 Plat set to max speed of 95% and min of 90%, which reduces the noise a touch.
If it's getting noisy and looking like failing, email MSI tech support and tell 'em it's failing and you're experiencing hangs and reboots. I had two mbrds I reported like this, which were behaving badly, and they sent me 3 new heatsink/fans. Those new fans run a bit slower, max of ~6Krpm, and are smoother running. If you do this, it's a good idea to register the mbrd with them and then in your email, give the serial no and your postal address. I had my new fans in a week or so, with no hassle or telephone calls at all.

• OC and core center

I am a newbie trying to OC. How do I safely use the Core Center to speed up my system

Just to tell you what DOT means, in case you didnt know, it is Dynamic Overclocking Tool, or soemthing like that. What it does, is increases your cpu speed slowly, stably, and SAFELY, during heavy cpu usage. It goes back to stock when cpu is idle. If it detects instability, it downclocks back to stock. Neat huh. Lots of board makers have things like this, ex, Gigabyte calls theirs CIA, or CPU Intelligent Accellorator.
Have Fun Overclocking!

• Core Center Alarm / Temperature

When I boot my Pc from having left it off overnight, the PC boots as normal, but when the Core center loads, an alarm sounds. ?(
When viewing the Core center it seems the alarm is sounding because my CPU fan is reading 0 rpm ?( (It is running).
Shut the PC down & restart, core center loads with No alarm. Check the CPU fan & it is running at over 3000 rpm
Im confused ?(
Running original Bios
Any suggestions most appreciated
Thanks in advance...........

Hi,
I had the same problem I was getting a cpu reading of about 50C and the f***ing :O fan alarm was going on all the time. The only way I foung to make it stop was discovered by accident. I clicked on the graphic that says "core center" and then I set the fan control over to user mode and boosted up the fans to avoid the annoying alarms. Apparently when the core center is controlling the fan it at some point giver less power to the fan and it powers down. I was this close to going back to the store to complain about a faulty fan. My cpu temperature did get a bit lower though but mid 40's is still too high. By the way never turn off the core center, both times I did the temperatures rose to over 100C and after everythingg slowed down windows managed to shut down. I was about to flash my mobo but I think I will wait out for a better bios to come out.
