Core center problem at startup

I recently installed a new soundcard (Audigy2ZS) and it's been causing problems with core center i guess?  When ever windows starts up it says "Servive has not been started"  followed by "No Hardware Monitors".  But when I load Corecenter individually it's fine.  Any ideas?

its a common software conflict ... to solve
run msconfig ... go to the startup tab .. disable the sbdrvdet ... (i think its called that) ... to stop it loading ... i believe its to do with firwire .. so not really required ... msi software should then run ok

  • Core Center Problems & General Questions added

On boot up after installing core center on my PC, I get warning messages telling me that core center doesnt have the correct drivers installed, and that core center is not compatable with my motherboard.
I just bought a MSI K8N Neo4-F ... any suggestions?  This doesn't seem to be a common problem and I can't get any answers anywhere :(

After the proper bios adjustments and correct settings i can use corecenter to reach the maximium overclocking setting for this tool.
In bios i do have to set vcore at 1.45 and HT at 4x , disable agressive timings.
This way will lead to a fsb of 222, for my memory also without changing the timings leading to a 6600 score in sandra for memory.
My cpu will clock 2666 then.
Also i have to overvolt through corecenter for cpu and memory, both maxed out giving 2.85 for mem and 1.58 for vcore total.
Now i'm not running this since i don't need the extra heat and my games don't require it either, yet.
And i can run my cpu higher also, but that's not the issue.
It's a way to see with which settings you get more performance without messing up the bios.
Finding your way through it you can then set it in bios and forget about corecenter.
See it as a first step, because after that you can adjust memory timings to get more fsb over the 200mhz. thus finding a balanced setting that will give the most speed, because setting timings too loose will not always result in faster performance even if you can clock the mem higher.
Finally, you can also use clockgen to find your limits. This tool let me set the multiplier also to max out the cpu without compromising the memory. Also keep in mind that different cpu cores will give different results, you can't compare settings with different hardware after all.The venice core is a nice cpu for adjusting fsb settings which is for me a simple multiplier, also the memory divider on my board let me set a very high fsb if needed.Again, this is now a simple multiplier,it means nothing if i have it set at 230 or 340,i only have to bring down the cpu multiplier then to stay in spec and use the proper mem divider.

  • Core center problems

    HI
I have an MSI 865PE neo2 motherboard witch comes with the dinamic overcolocking technology (D.O.T)
but when i install core center the red button to activate DOT does not apear.
I wold like to know if there is any way to fix this
because i know someone ho bought a motherboard similar to mine exept his board had gigabit lan. and he didn´t have the same problem his core center works perfectly.
i wowld be grateful if you coud help me

The first generation boards only had dynamic overclocking in the FIS2R model, which was the one with gigabit lan. I thought all the rev 2 boards had the feature. The revision (ver) number is shown between the PCI slots.
If your board has this feature, the settings will be found in the bios. They use the army ranks to adjust the level.

  • MSI Core Center Problem with the software

    Hello all
Just wanted to let you know about a problem i had the other night. You will see my specs below but i recently installed core center and all was running well until 2 nights ago when the pc would start up into windows load up core center and then re-boot. The problem was core center it's self when windows was starting it up for some reason core center decided to overclock my pc i only realised this when i saw a brief glimpse of the CPU speed as core center started it was over 2.6 GHZ no wonder the machine shutdown i eventually got it to boot up and get into core center where i found that this time it was trying to run my machine at a FSB of 215 i reset this back to 200 and the re-booting stopped i decided to just un-install core center to save any further problem.
Have any of you guys had this problem and how many are having a similiar problem but don't realise it thinking it is the cpu or heat related just thought i would let you know about this in case anyone does have a similiar problem
    Cheers everyone

i didn't even install it to tweak or overclock i was only using it to monitor my temps etc. seeing as it came on the installation disk did look at the overclocking features of it but after looking at them  i returned to the default settings prefering if and when i try overclocking to do it through the bios. I was surprised as anyone that core center decided it was going to overclock my system on it's own,  Maybe it's become self aware LOL
I just put this thread up in case anyone else has it installed and has similiar problems as i did so they can check to see if this is their problem thought it might be helpful as i know lots of people do have problems and find there way here looking for help

  • MSI Core Center problem!!!

I´ve just updated the MSI Core Center to ver 1.6.2.0 because 1.6.1.0 kept increasing and decreasing CPU fan speed all the time, got a bit annoying.
After the install and restart of PC, when Core Center started, the PC automaticly restarted. Only way I can use my PC now is by dissabling Core Center, or going to older ver. but thats not the best solution.
I have passiv coling on NB, but this havent caused problems before, and keeps a normal temp.
MSI, i think u should look tthe Core Center program over, somethings wrong.
Pardon my english (I´m from Sweden).

    hi khinax,
Please give your signature (computer spec).
Why you adjust the fan speed doesn't it run automatically with 3 pin?
Use CC with not much problem.
I use it for DOT with ver.1.6.1.0 which quit better than 1.6.2.0, this is the only software that can communicate with the COreCell.
    Work fine right now.

    • If you are using an ATI graphic card, you must install ver. 8.41 driver and its additional applications to make Dual CoreCenter works normally. It is better to use recommended installation while installing an ATI VGA driver.
But that brings me to my next question, why would you install and use that app anyway?
    Hardly anybody does.

  • Bios or core center problem

I resently flashed from 1.8 to 1.9 bios, and updated to latest corecenter. I was getting Aqua mark 3 scores of 53.500 and very happy, also running UT2004 and never crashing. Now since these updates all that has changeed. The CPU score in Aquamark is down 30% from 10,150 to 7060. UT2004 crashes after 5 to 10 minutes. Why Why Why would MSI do this to me?!?!?!?!?!
I have not made any other changes or updates (except an update to ASUS smartdoctor which is working fine).
I downloaded and flash bios 1.8 from the MSI site in DOS mode but after loading the raid drivers when I would normally see the first windows screen I got a black monitor and nothing else. So I ran the Bios rescue I had created when I update to 1.9 and now I'm back with 1.9 and all of the problems I just described.
Please help, I would like to get back to 1.8 but I don't know it didn't work.

Personally I don't think ATI cards suck, I've loved my 9600XT since I got it and had no real problems with it.  I've managed to get a significant performance increase with the use of the Omega Drivers and a significant overclock of the card, and I'm certain that my next card will be an ATI.
But anyway each to thier own, this is not a discussion over the best Gfx card, I'm just going to repeat my above suggestion, as I went from 35000 in Aquamark 3 down to 25000 when I changed my AGP appature from 128Mb to 64Mb.  At the end of the day he has nothing to lose trying this as if it works he avoids the risks associated with flashing the bios, if it does not work, only a small amoun t of time has been lost.

  • Core Center Problem

    Hi Guys,
I just bought the K8T Neo.  I have a Athlon 64 processor with 1 G in RAM.  I've been trying to use the CoreCenter, which I already have the new version 1.5.5.0, but it's not working properly.
The gray window shows two additional options, 1 on the right > that is Temperature and Fan alarms settings and 1 on the left
I have every driver or new software available in the msi website for my card, and I already tested.
    Thanks for any advice.
    Seranko

I found something but I'm not really sure.
The step No. 1 at the website below is :
Make sure your AMD Athlon64 Supports Cool'n'Quiet
Cool'n'Quiet is the new developed technology of AMD PowerNow!, embedded in the AMD Athlon™64 processor. Under the normal circumstance, it can be enabled as long as the mainboard and BIOS support it. However, due to there are still some engineering sample processors sold in the market, we recommend buyer to check the model number first before buying it. Normally, as long as there is a "0" at the end of the model number, this CPU supports Cool'n'Quiet.   ?(
    The website is :
    http://www.msi.com.tw/html/e_service/techexpress/tech_column/6702/page11.htm
My processor has the number ADA3200AEP5AP  ;(.  I've been trying to call AMD technical service all day (but they didn't answer  X() to ask is this version is newer or older.  In the Athlon AMD 64 +3200 processor manual, the only version or reference is 3.0 released on September, they don't show anything else.
Please if somebody can help me I'll really appreciate it.
    Thanks,
    Seranko.

  • BIOS/Core Center Temps

I'm slowly (not much available time) bringing my new KT6 Delta-FIS2R up. I have noticed that the Core Center CPU temp readout is 4-5 degrees C above the same item in the PC Health Section of the Bios. Because of the variety of Core Center problems that I see people writing in here forum with, I suspect that the Core Center is the monitor that's out of sync. Irregardless, is there a way to bring these two sources into agreement?

Core Center, as well as PC Alert, reads about 4-5C higher than the real temp. Use Speedfan instead, much more accurate, and takes less space.

  • Core Center 2.0.0.7 problems?

Just updated to Core Center 2.0.0.7, but its causing problems.  For some odd reason Core Center won’t release so the system can shut down when asked
to…  Couldn’t find 2.0.0.6, but did find 2.0.0.4 and installed it, no more problems shutting down.... hummmm.

That's interesting, since the s3 sleep mode don't work on my system,it just locks up.
I don't know why, since at first it did work, however,it's not that important to me.
I do have installed back and forth the nvidia driver series for my mainboard to no avail.
So i can't say if i can produce the same error.

  • Problems with Live Update 3 and Core Center

    Hi All
I have just put together the system listed below. On the first boot-up screen "Live Update 2" is displayed on the top right of screen. I installed "Live Update 3"  from the Drivers & Utilities  CD supplied with the Mobo. On rebooting, the computer crashes straight after loading Windows. The problem occurs even after I downloaded the latest version.
I also installed Core Center from the same CD. This works fine until I try to switch user. It then comes up with the error "No Hardware Monitor Found" and crashes. The same thing happens after downloading the latest version.
    What could be causing this?
    Many thanks.

Upgrade BIOS and see what happens...

  • Can you make core center automatically close after being called on startup?

Can you make core center automatically close after being called on startup so it can set cpu fan speed to a slower fixed speed then exit?
If core center really cant do such a simple task then can speedfan or another program?

Quote from: bassmadrigal on 13-July-05, 07:42:36
Why don't you want them running. Speedfan has a very small footprint.
Just seems unnecesary seeming as it does its task as soon as it runs and its changes then stay applied. Speed fan is probably better but core center takes 10mb.
    Quote from: syar2003 on 13-July-05, 07:57:02
You dont have to have it running to set a user specified fan rpm .
Once it's set it is stored in the corecell/cmos chip on the motherboard .(until a cmos reset) .
So to answer your question .
There is no need to have it autostarted at each boot ...
Thats how i have used it .
Only reason to have it running is with MSI's "CnQ" control of the fan , varies with the load of the processor
Thats strange for me the speed resets to default as soon as I restart my pc (about when the bios engages which is however tangibly after the graphics card fan revves up to its full speed). Depending on the temperature of the proccessor it goes to 3300rpm (less than 42c) or 4500rpm (too loud for ~45c IMO and MSIs "cool&quiet" option seems to agree, it doesn't even set it as high as 3300rpm)

  • P6N SLI V2 problem with "dual core center"

I have the P6N SLI  V2 with E4400 and 7600gt running XP pro sp 2.
after installing and running MSI's "dual core center" (including .Net framework) I only have the "VGA" option enabled, the "MB" option is disabled as well as the D.O.T option. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling as well as downloading the latest version, but I have the same problem. I get no MB options at all (like no cpu temp, fan speed, core speed etc.). I didn't make any changes to the BIOS yet (other than changing the boot sequence), and ideas?

    A great one.
Don't use MSI's utilities. Anyone here will tell you that.
