Core centre overclocking query

Hey i'm wondering if using core centre to overclock my FSB also speeds up my agp/pci bus.  Or is my only choice for AGP/PCI clock stability via a bios overclock?

If you don't want to use the bios get ClockGen. It will let you set both independently.

    Hi,
I found no option at Core Centre to change the CPU multiplier setting; is this fuction not available or it is hiding at some other place? I am using K8N Neo2 Platinum

    It doesn't have it , just htt/fsb .
Concider using clockgen for nforce3 250 instead if overclocking from windows ( www.cpuid.com ) its a much better program .

  • MSI Core Centre ANNOYING!!!!!

Ok i recently upgraded the cooling on my amd 64 3700 sandiego be cause i found that the stock heatsink and fan sucked. so i purchased a Gigabyte G-Power pro. This is a great cooler and cools the cpu much better however i have found that since i have imstalled it MSI Core Centre keeps popping up from the system tray and making teh alarm noise, now i don't know why it does this because all the temps voltages and speeds are fine, and no overclocking has been done, it isn't even highlighting the bit thats supposed to be causing the problem, and the alarm will stop after a few seconds. but it's really annoying when playing a game and your whole game mnimizes and core centre pops up      i have installed the latest version too. pls help

I don't use corecenter while gaming, but maybe you can edit the HW.ini file in "C:\Program Files\MSI\Core Center"
It lists all the settings for fan speed limits etc. , maybe your new fan drops below the minimum setting which is at 1000 by default.
Or some other setting that influences this.
Have you btw speedfan running at the same time?Because when in that program the wrong fan divider is set corecenter also sounds alarm.
I found this when setting a different value for my northbridge fan,my cpu fan dropped to 150 rpm in corecenter, still it maintained the same temperature and ofcourse the fan ran at full speed (3300rpm).

  • Core Centre Question

I have just updated both of my PC's to the latest 3.9 BIOS and also the latest edition of core centre (2.0.1.2), now in the PC that my other half uses, which is the same spec as mine (only way to build mine without getting major grief  ) except that she has Crucial XMS PC3200 memory, 2GB 4x512MB in matched pairs, I've now noticed that it runs at DDR400, as before I could only get it to run at DDR333. Thats running at stock settings in the BIOS, so a nice Improvment there.
On my own PC, I've noticed that I'm able to get my own memory to run higher than before, and also the CPU runs a lot higher, (changing FSB only) another nice improvment!
At the moment, mine is running at 2,53 GHz rock stable for the last few days 24/7 with the temp never exceeding 36c. The only thing that I've noticed is with core centre, which now says that it does not support my M/Board! (wind the CPU back down to say 222 Bus speed then it works fine, which is the 11% overclock in core centre - and no before you ask, my settings were done in BIOS, not via core centre utility)
I'm not really complaining, dont get me wrong I think the improvment to the BIOS is a positive move. I just wonder if anyone else has noticed the problem with Core Centre and CPU overclock speeds.

I agree, i've done mine the manual way also, I just used Core Centre as an easy way to monitor my temps and to adjust my cpu fan speed. my question was why overclocking the CPU caused Core Centre to report that it did not support my motherboard, and fail to load, but would load at moderate overclocks supported by Core Centre itself. Its not the end of the world type of thing, just me being curious thats all

  • MSI DUO CORE CENTRE APPLICATION

Hi all, i would like to try out OC and would like to test with the software first.
However, I cannot click on the D.O.T (Dynamic OC) button in the DUO CORE CENTRE program. Nor was there any UP and DOWN buttons beside the DOT that I can adjust the settings.
I am using AMD 5200, wif latest BIOS installed. VGA is XpertVision 8800GT. My MOBO is MSI K9NGM3.
Explored the application but only settings for the VGA can be tweaked. Understand that Multiplier cannot be OC but FSB should be able to. Nothing can be adjusted under the Mainboard settings.
    Could anyone provide some guidelines?
[P.S. Would also like to know how much to OC with my 5200]
    Thanks!

125w CPUs are NOT supported by your board. Understand the risk you are taking overclocking such a budget board... You could end up melting the MOSFETs.
5000+/5200+ get to around 3GHz on a guess of 1.375v-1.425v. Beyond usually takes some voltage. You can clear CMOS via CMOS jumper: Clear CMOS Guide
*** But I highly recommend you do not overclock with this board. ***
Thanks for the advice. As i only recently began building my own PC, I didnt chose high end stuff yet.
But a bit of OC also not adviseable? Maybe on stock fan.
I am interested in the X47 board but all things must start from basics first  :D

  • Bios 1.6 and Core Centre Problems!

    Hi MSI Buddies!
I have an 875p Neo mobo,
I had problems before where my mobo wouldn't cold boot.  I got a replacement board (with bios 1.20) which works perfectly.
I sucessfully upgraded to bios 1.60 last night and the version of corecentre kept stopping my CPU fan !!!!  Arrrrggggghhhhh!  Can't MSI get anything right (even 6th time round !!!)
I upgraded to 1.0.5.3 version of CoreCentre which fixed the CPU Fan stopping but, the FSB defaults to 203 instead of 200. Everytime i tried to put it back to 200 the PC completely froze !!!!  I then ran live update and got the very latest Core Centre which still sets FSB to 203 but i can adjust it without it freezing.  But it resets to 203 after a reboot! ANY IDEAS????
The CPU temp stays between 41c and 59c.  Is this going to affect my CPU or cause any problems????
Also in the bios, Performance is set to FAST (this was by default).
Is there anyway i can re-flash back to 1.20 bios????
    PLEASE PLEASE HELP
    T Hatley.

Use Corecenter solely for checking speeds/temps.
There were lots of problems with this program so it might still behave weird sometimes. Also take into account you're directly over/under/clocking the system while it's running, you can never predict it's stability.
The 203 FSB is directly caused by the setting FAST in the bios. Those settings regulate different levels of overclocking. Try setting it to slow and tell me what corecenter says the FSB is then?

  • KT6 Delta - Core Centre seems to have broken it!

    My spec is as follows
    KT6 Delta motherboard
    AMD Athlon XP2600+
    Crucial DDR400 3200 512MB Ram
    160GB SATA hard drive
    Radeon 9700PRO
    Windows XP Home
The machine has been running absolutely fine for months until I foolishly decided to press the auto button in core centre for optimising clocks etc.
This resulted in the machine crashing followed by booting failure just after the Windows splash screen comes up.
The machine will boot with another IDE disk - but after installation of XP the mouse fails to operate???
As soon as the SATA disk is reconnected and configured as a non boot device, the same boot failure happens again.
I have also tried resetting the CMOS to no effect.
Any suggestions would be gratefully received.

I had that problem due to my 9800PRO.Dont know why,but a fresh format needs to be done all underclocked and with a old cheap video card installed. After you load winxp and get everything working, load VIA drivers then put the ATI card in,load its drivers and you should be good to go.I did this on 2 machines so far with no problems.Don't know what it is about ATI and a fresh install, but it makes windows xp do weird stuff.I also found that setting the FSB and uping the ram to the correct MHZ also causes winxp problems when doing the install. That is why I leave it "ALL" underclocked until I get it loaded(win xp)then the VIA drivers next before installing the ATI card and it's drivers.
You also said the mouse fails to operate. When I do a fresh install,I have to use the ps2 mouse adapter instead of the USB or the mouse will fail.
I dont know if anything I said will help you or not,but I had spent hours and hours trying to figure out how to load up everything with my combo the correct way.FWIW,I had always had a problem with getting my ram to 400mhz setting with my combo.Tried BIOS flash, reformat, fresh install's of all drivers ect......After using the following procedure above,I could change the ram to the 400mhz where it needed to be and it was all because of an improper loading procedure that I could not find posted anywheres.
    Good Luck

  • Core Centre won't run

    Hi guys.  Any gals?
Just upgraded to a 865PE Neo2 (yeah, upgraded.  Wanna make something of it?) which is the MS-6728 v.1 MoBo.  P4 Prescott installed with XP Prof. SP2 2GB RAM.  Didn't get the CD with it so no Core Center.  Have downloaded a Core Centre driver from a shady source which claims to be version 2.1.5.0 tho' the release note with it - which lists my MoBo as supported - gives the latest version as 2.0.2.3.
It seems to install happily enough, but at the end where set-up offers to launch CoreCenter or the read-me there's nothing to select.  The folder installed into contains several files including CoreCenter.exe of 911KB from April 2007, but when I try to run it the application tells me that Core Center does not support my motherboard - which seems strange considering there's a chunky chip called "MSI CORE CENTER" right there in the center of it.  Well, almost in the middle.
Yes, I installed and run it as Computer Administrator.  Even more infuriating, there's a process called "CoreCentre.exe" running and taking up 11,148KB of my memory, according to Task manager, and I even get the Core Center shell complete with some info in my task bar and can open it on the desktop at the same time as I get the message that Core Center doesn't support my motherboard.
    Any ideas?

Corecenter does runs on XP but not needed once again.
Well I need it, or something similar - and if there's something designed for the board it seems daft not to use it.

Prescott are also being nicknamed as Pres"hot" for those who have used before. It is generally a very hot processor to being with so if you really need something to help with monitoring temps, try Core Temp and see if it works with older versions of the processor and board.
It's because I've read that it runs hot that I want to monitor the temp.  Unfortunately I don't have older versions of processor or board.

What kind of cpu heatsink are you using.
Can't put a name to it as I pulled CPU and cooler from an old IBM server, but it's a mighty-looking thing with a couple of copper pipes aboard.  It no-doubt does a good job, being server grade, but it's as noisy as hell once I ramp it up with some serious gaming.  That's why I'm switching to water-cooling, and need to monitor the temperature.
My point, Guys, is that Core Center reports that it doesn't support my MOTHERBOARD, not the OS or the CPU.  Yet if it's started as a service with Windows it runs a process and puts an icon in my taskbar which when activated brings up the GIU with some info aboard, at the same time as the error message.

I have the same problem with this following error trying to install the Dual Core Center 2.0.0.6 : "runtime error. Could not call proc".
How can I fix the problem ? I use Windows Vista Ultimate Edition 64.
In other words, MSI Dual Core Center does not support Windows Vista 64.  You can try CoreTemp, but again since you have x64 you need to read this:  http://www.alcpu.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=211

  • Core centre and multiple users

    Hi
I noticed today after setting up another user on my XP machine that core centre wouldn't work and gave an error along the lines of "failed to initialize" and then hardware monitor isn't working.  Earlier I noticed that without core centre running that may fan speeds were at idle and didn't change untill I opened core centre and I could hear them throtle up. So now I'm worried that if i'm not logged in as a particular user or the computer is at the login screen that my hardware isn't being looked after at all. has anyone else experienced this and can it be fixed?

Don't use corecenter for fan speed control.  Instead, use the BIOS:
    1) Open Corecenter from the administrator account or a user account that has admin privileges.  Click on the top center logo which should open the fan speed control window.  There should be two items, CoolnQuiet and User/Manual or something like.  Put it in manual and move the slider all the way to the right. Ignore the CoolnQuiet, it's misnamed here - MSI's corecenter does not control CoolnQuiet.  What MSI is calling CoolnQuiet is just fan speed control.  Anyway, put it in manual.  Close Corecenter and you should never have to open it again unless you want to monitor fan RPM's.
    2) Next, reboot and enter the BIOS.  Go to the H/W  Monitor settings.  Turn on Smart CPU Fan Speed.  Set to 40 C +/- 1.    This will allow the motherboard to control the fan speed.  On the other hand, if you want your fan always at maximum, then disable Smart Fan Speen control.   Don't worry about the Smart NB Fan speed, leave it disabled.
Also, keep in mind that when you first open Corecenter, the immediate fan RPM's reported are not correct.  It takes it a few seconds to get the readings.  So wait until Corecenter minimizes itself to the system tray, then open it from there, and you will see the correct fan RPM's.

  • Core Centre 1.5.80

Installed the latest version of MSI's Core Centre, v1.5.80, think it's only been out a few days, but already I'm having the same error message over & over again about a "Hardware Monitor" failing to load or something.  It pops up twice and then reboots itself whenever I turn on my PC.  Once it's rebooted it work's fine but it clearly isn't working properly.  I've e-mailed MSI UK & MSI.com but so far the only response I got back was from the UK and all they said was to download the latest version, the very version I was e-mailing them about.  Used MSCONFIG to disable at startup but it's a pain in the butt starting it manually everytime I use my PC.  Any help/constructive suggestions would really be appreciated.

I got the same problem after defragmenting my harddrive. The defragmenter optimize winxp startup/boot which causes I think core center to load before the hardware monitor driver.
The only solution at the moment is to remove core center from the startup folder and start it manually.
OR you could try to add the following line 'start /belownormal \corecenter.exe' in the shortcut for core center which is in the startup folder.
This will force core center to start after all normal prio apps have started and by that time the hardware monitor driver should have been loaded.

  • Core Centre... Is it safe?

    Hello,
As the title is core centre safe?
Had a go at auto settings and got a windows stability problem and had to reboot.
    (at around 220 mhz).
Rebooted and it levelled at 218 mhz.
I then put it back to defaults as I did'nt want to cause any damage.
If you use cc in auto mode will it make sure that your settings are safe all the time?
How does this effect your warranty with msi/ amd?
    Thanks.

Core center does not keep adjusting it self.  It will keep pushing your system to the limit untill you take over and do something.  As for burning   and neglecting hardware I found that companies generally don't even ask what happened they just send out a replacement.  I've fried a harddrive and even snapped a transistor off my video card and had no problem getting them replaced.  The parts cost next to nothing to produce, it's what goes into their development that pushes up prices.  The companies tend to be more concerned with your return business rather than crying over why you cranked on your processor.

  • Core Centre

Hi everyone, my first time in and with what's probably a curly one, leastways when I enter Core Centre in MSI search it comes back with 0 results, despite the program being well-labelled "MSI"
Anyhow what's happening, since I installed Core Centre from a MSI disc, as far as I recall, is that about every other time I start up I get  blue screen crash, after the message that monitor driver hasn't loaded.
According to blue screen script "RushTop.sys F9DE2C90" and "Tech 0x0000008E", none of which makes me any the wiser
Not really a light matter, at least according to Windows and the Microsoft error report.
I have tried uninstalling Core Centre, but it won't allow me to, eg "access denied", so I seem to be stuck with a nasty one, unless soeone can help ... pleeeeeeeease,
    even pretty please!

I am having the same thing happen. You can remove it by hitting CTRL-ALT-DEL before clicking "OK" on the error, then stop the CORECENTER.EXE process. Then click ok on the error and un-install it.
Anyone know what is causing this??

Hello all I have just got a new K8N Neo today, got it all setup and seems to be working fine, will update my sig soon hehe
I expected the CPu temps to be wrong, but whats the best way to monitor them in XP? Do I still use MSI Core Centre? Im just a bit confused because I downloaded it from this main site, and I get Core Centre.exe, but when I run it it starts installing radio web update something
So do I use Core Centre, and if so where do i get it?, and if not what do we use now?
    Thx Xee

Ahh yeah thx, I found them on the cd couple of mins ago
Was just wanting to get the latest version online. Seems that MSI has their files mixed up on their server, as well as named wrongly
Now I need to find the latest Bios version, dont suppose anyone has a link?
