Core IPTC in Aperture 3.2.3 on OS 10.6.8 are not Exporting

Core IPTC Metadata in Aperture is not exporting when I email my files.   I have Aperture 3.2.3 on OS 10.6.8.  Thanks.

Look via "Aperture➞Preferences➞Export➞Email Photo Export Preset" to see which Export Preset you are using.
Look up that Export Preset via "Aperture➞Presets➞Image Export".  Is "Include Metadata" checked?

Aperture ate my picture files and they are not recoverable.  The guy at the Genius Bar told me to Trash the App, empty Trash, then go to Purchases and reinstall.  But Purchases says it is "Installed" so it does not let me download it again.  HELP!!!!

I typed Aperture into Spotlight and sure enough it did show up.
It looks like it is supposed to be in Apps.
    But it is not there.
So I clicked on the spotlight Aperture and it opened up the App!!!!
But I do not know where it is to move it!
    How can I find it?
While Aperture is running and you are seeing it in the Dock, ctrl-click (or right click) the Dock icon.
You will see a contextual menu. Click on "Options", then select "Show in Finder".
And check the "keep in Dock" mark, so you will not lose it from the Dock.

  • "one or more of the items in your selection contains Aperture albums that are not supported in iphoto".

I have some folders in iPhoto called 'Recovered Folder'. When I try to delete them I get this message: "one or more of the items in your selection contains Aperture albums that are not supported in iphoto".
I don't use Aperture (did install it to try it out), and have deleted Aperture App from my Mac.
How can I get rid of these fodlers?

    i finally figured this out:
fyi, iphoto and aperture can now share (i.e., access) the same library. apple details it here:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5260?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US
i use both iphoto and aperture, and i suspect something went amiss, at some point, while aperture was accessing my iphoto library.
this is how i fixed the problem:
i launched aperture, then (per the instructions linked above) switched to (i.e., accessed) my iphoto library. i was then able to delete the "recovered folder" and the album it contained. i then quit aperture and relaunched iphoto.
NOTE: at that time, although i expected the "recovered folder" to be gone, it was still present. but this time, i was able to delete the folder from within iphoto without the "contains aperture items" error message.
(Sparky030405, i realize you've since deleted aperture. while i can't say my method is the *only* way to solve this problem, it's the way i was able to solve it. so, you might consider reinstalling aperture in order to delete the folder, then uninstalling aperture, once again.)

  • When exporting files to web pages Aperture keeping losing files, so for instance, if I choose to export 600 images to a new web page, it might do 524 images but not the full 600. I've tried resetting Aperture, it's the latest version etc etc. Help please!

If anyone can help me with this I would be seriously grateful.
When exporting mutliple files to web pages Aperture keeping losing files, so for instance, if I choose to export 600 images to a new web page, it might make 524 pages but not the full 600. I've tried resetting Aperture and its persmission and am using the latest version of 3.
I have 3600 images which I need to upload as sublfolders, each with their own URL and at the moment Aperture is dropping of anything from 1 to 90 images.
This is critical as people need to see each and every on of these images online. So if a file has 600 photos in it, Aperture should make a URL with 600 full image pages. And this is what it's not doing. On small files, say 30 or so it seems to work well, it's when it gets to more than that the problem starts.
I've used Aperture in the past under previous versions and not had this problem.
    Any help would be great.
    Thanks.
    Bob.

    Hi Jack,
Thanks for responding (as it seems as though no one else has been able to provide any insight as of yet)! Not sure if you saw my recent post, but the version of Aperture on the 2008 MacBook has been upgraded to 3.1.2 (not sure how; I bought it in 2009, but only have OS X 10.5.8... which apparently can't house 3.1.2 of Aperture, but hey, like many other anomalies i'm encountering, I'm no longer surprised!). I am unable to upgrade it any further, as it warns me that my OS X does not fit the requirements. I exported the projects as libraries; however, like I posted before, apparently these are from too old of a version for the new Aperture (3.3.1) to handle and import.
It's getting to the point where I'd almost pay to upgrade the OS X on my previous MacBook (10.5.8) to something newer in order to THEN update Aperture to a newer version; however, my previous MacBook simply cannot handle this (the specs are awful -- hence my decision to save up and upgrade to the newest MBP with Retina).
I've spent hours upon hours transferring files, libraries as projects, previews, versions, even masters (though, apparently some of them aren't accessible?) with no luck. I've rebuilt the library and reprocessed everything. And this is all after having to return one MBP already since Aperture 3.3.1 is glitch-y as it is, and froze everything for having a "managed library". So, now that I know that I have to deal with a referenced library in Aperture... I just need to actually transfer my previous library to my new one (hopefully WITH adjustments since these are years worth of photos and work).
Again, any help is appreciated. I've lost enough sleep, time, and vision health over this at this point.
Also, I know Migration Assistant is an option, I was told that it wouldn't work properly anyway because of the different operating systems, and the potential for problems.

  • Photos are not adjustable in Aperture v.2.1.4.

Photos are not adjustable in Aperture v.2.1.4.
    17200 photos can not adjust?
This applies to pictures before 02/28/1910?
All the pictures have a yellow mark with a ! in the bottom right of the picture.
Also appears in the box Badger.
Also get the message "Image not found"?
    What have I done?
    Help me.

    Hi all.
    Now everything is in order.
I had an upgrade of Aperture. It deleted a main folder called "All photos". Luckily I had saved the library to an extra hard drive. Imported the back and everything in order.
Was too much interested in looking at the World Championships in snooker. Sorry.
    Thank you would help me.

  • When I external edit an aperture photo using Photoshop Elements 9 and then get out, the changes are not reflected in Aperture when I return - this used to work for me but doesn't seem to have for some time - help please?

Have used Aperture for some time - at some point this stopped working - not sure when
    workflow:
click photo and elect to use the external editor (Photoshop Elements 9)
Copy of the photo is created in Aperture with the "O" badge and I am rolled out to Photoshop
Have to change the type to 8-bit in Photoshop to start making changes
When done and I exit I am prompted to save the photo
On returning to Aperture however the "O" badged photo does not get updated/reflect my changes
    Other Things:
I can find a changed photo sitting in the Aperture Library using finder or Photoshop itself - so I know changes have been made a new file saved (TIFF).
I am wondering if I am missing some (new) preference such that the changes are not proerly being saved for re-display/storage in the Aperture Library
I am running Lion OSX at the moment but the behaviour was the same under Snow Lepoard versions.
Current version of Aperture is 3.1.3, Elements is 9.0
    Any help/suggestions greatfully received

Try using psd.  Some rerports indicate some confustion between the apps with TIFF.  See:
    https://discussions.apple.com/message/15921933#15921933
I cannot confirm, nor test, since I use PS CS5, and not Elements.

  • Aperture Video Import Problem - from Lumix GH4: Imported clips have their dates changed to the import date.  The files show up on the hard drive but many are not showing up in Aperture.

Aperture Video Import Problem - from Lumix GH4: Imported clips have their dates changed to the import date.  The files show up on the hard drive with import date not created date, but many of these same files are not showing up in Aperture. Sometimes the clips actually show up with the current import but take on the video information from a previously imported file.

It was suggested I move this question to IPhoto or IMovie which I did.
Well moving to a different discussion group did not provide an answer to this question either. But what I finally did was import one batch of photos and videos into IPhoto for a given day at a time. Working with these I could change the date and times in order to get them in the original sequench taken. Then I would create an album with that batch. These would all be on the same day (IMove was closed for this phase). Then I would open IMovie, generate the thumbnails for that album, and select the album I had created. This was necessary because the importing process in IPhoto was using incorrect dates for my video so it was a real struggle finding them in IMove until I developed this approach.
I believe that this whole process was so screwy because I was importing from an external hard drive not a camera. I had these photos on a PC and did not have the original cameras to use to import directly which I am fairly sure would have made this easier!

  • Photo edits in aperture are not being updated in Photostream

I want to edit photos in iPhoto on an iPad mini and also in Aperture and have the changes synchronised either using photostream or a direct connection. Try as I may I can't get this to happen. If I move a photo in Aperture to the photostream then it appears on the iPad and vice versa. If I subsequently edit a photo on either device the changes are not propagated to the other device and the photostream image is not updated. Can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong, or is this feature simply not supported.

Photo Stream can be used to automatically share photos to other devices, but it will not sync the photos. If you edit photos and want to share the edited version as well, you will have to add this edited version again to the Photo Stream. Also the photos will not be stored in the Photo Stream for more than a month.
You might consider to use iTunes Photo sync instead:
iOS and iPod: Syncing photos using iTunes
With iTunes Photo Sync you can update the albums synced to your iPad, when you change the albums and edit the photos on your mac, but changes done on your iPad will also not sync back. You have to reimport the edited photos from your iPad.
There is simply no simple way yet to sync iPad and Mac, if you are looking for a solution to do some editing on your iPad and keep iPad and Mac in perfect sync.
Maybe some third party software can do that, but neither the Photos app nor iPhoto on iPad has means to do that.

  • Changes made in iphoto library are not showing up in aperture

I currently have Aperture referencing my photos off of my iphoto library. I have made changes (consolidated a couple of events) and imported more photos from my camera and both are not showing up in Aperture.
The new photos I imported were placed into an existing event (in both iphoto and aperture).
How do I get aperture to recognize the changes I made in organizing my library?
    Thanks
    Michael

Aperture won't know that you've made changes to your iPhoto library, and therefore won't redraw the thumbnail or update the main image. The way iPhoto works that if you make a change, it'll create another JPG and store it within the iPhoto Library folder or package (depending on which version you're on). If Aperture is still referencing the original image (quite likely), its not going to know iPhoto has created another one, and even more so, where that file is. You can do it the other way around and up date the to, for example, have images in your Aperture library, referenced to your iPhoto library. If you change the image in Aperture, it will update in iPhoto using the JPEG previews. The only thing that might not change is the iPhoto thumbnail, but the image itself will bring through the changes from Aperture as technically, its the same file is looking at.

  • Nik Software Plug-Ins are not compatible with Aperture 3

After installing my upgrade to Aperture 3, I get a message when attempting to use one of my Nik Software editing plug-ins. The message says that the plug-ins are not 64-bit (they are 34-bit) and in order to run them, Aperture must close and reopen in 34-bit mode. What does this mean and how do I fix it?

    Keli
In order to open Aperture in 32-bit mode by default you can right-click on the application icon, select "Get Info" and check the box marked "Open In 32-bit Mode" (or you can continue to run it by default in 64-bit mode and just get forced to re-open the app anytime you need to use plug-ins that can only run in 32-bit mode).
    hope this helps!

  • Aperture not exporting changes made to photo

I am just getting into Aperture and have discovered this problem. When exporting a RAW photo to my desktop as a JPEG not all of the editing is coming through. It looks like everything but the 'sharpen' changes are appearing in the JPEG version.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks!

I like how the header says the question is answered. Almost cheerfully even. The question about how Aperture does not export changes has been answered.Yay!
I was delighted because in my hands Aperture DOES NOT EXPORT changes. Pictures I sharpened do not get exported that way. I can take a screen shot of the sharpened picture in Aperture, and the screen shot viewed in preview captures the sharpness. Any thing exported out of Aperture comes out EXACTLY as it went in.
And I am not alone. There are all kinds of posted solutions. I've read a lot of lies and mumbo jumbo about why it is. The truth is my version of Aperture does not EXPORT changes. So what is the answer???
I think the correct answer is the one on the page with the yellow star that indicates that the problem is a major flaw in the program and that Apple should FIX IT.
So.... then...when is that going to happen? Funny how they are dragging their feet on this. They won't even address it solidly... they just start blog pages, and forums, and stall, and stall, and stall.

  • Aperture 3 edits are not applied when opening in Photoshop CS5.

I have Photoshop CS5 selected as external editor.  I apply some edits in Aperture 3 and then open in Photoshop cs5 to do heavier work, but aperture 3 edits are not applied.  I get a new image from Master.  How do I get the edited image to open in Photoshop CS5?  I would rather do the cropping and simpler edits in Aperture, then if needed open the edited file into CS5.  I can open the file, but it is missing all of my edits.  I have basically a raw master file that I have to start with, but don't have the advantage of the raw file.

I'm right clicking on the photo and selecting -> edit with Edit with Adobe Photoshop CS5.  The photo opens in Adobe, but it doesn't have any of the Aperture edits applied to it.  I would have to start from scratch doing these in photoshop.  I want to be able to do the Raw adjustments in Aperture and then open into Photoshop.
To test I applied a crop in Aperture and then opened that file in Photoshop.  The full size image opens in Photoshop.

  • The shuttle controls are not visible in Aperture 3

the shuttle control units are not anymore shown in Aperture only the scolling arrows. Is it possible to deactivate them? Any idea how to reactivate?
    Thanks

They were removed at some point after 3.0.
You can still use the keyboard shortcuts ("j", "k", "l").

  • IPhoto not exporting Aperture EXIF data

Does anyone know why iPhoto will store the aperture value from the original EXIF data, however it will drop this information when exporting? I store my pictures on flickr and keep the EXIF data visible, but no matter how I export it will continually cut out a lot of EXIF data, including this important piece of information.

How are you exporting? Are you using a flickr plugin for iPhoto? If so that's what's stripping the info from the file. If you export from iPhoto to the Desktop via the File->Export->File Export all of the EXIF data is preserved and you can include the keywords, comments and file name.
    Do you Twango?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've written an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • Since upgrade of aperture, my photos from a year ago are not in library.  On time machine, they are there, but I cant transfer them to todays aperture library because it says the old version is not supported.  Please help!!

Since the upgrade of Aperture, my photos from a year ago are not showing up.  When I go to time machine, they show up in the library, but I cant transfer them to my todays aperture because it says the old program needs to be updated.  How do I get my pics from a year ago transferred to todays Aperture?  Please help!!!!

You will be restoring the old Aperture library from TM, having it on the Desktop is fine.
Once the restore is finished you will have the old Aperture library in that folder. Now you want to open this library by double clicking it (the library). This will open Aperture on it and Aperture will  tell you the library needs to be upgraded. Let Aperture upgrade the library.
Once the Library is upgraded to the latest version of Aperture you can do want you want with it. Once you have gotten to this point if you still need help post back.
