CoreCenter and Standby Mode

I have just standby to use Standby Mode, having read the recent article on electricity consumption in PCPro magazine (UK). However after the machine comes out of standby, CoreCenter v1.7.3(set to start on boot and run in the system tray) starts giving an alarm (much like a car alarm siren) ; the only way to stop this is to close CoreCenter and then reopen it when it is fine and no longer gives an alarm. I guess it is confused and thinks there is fan failure or something similar. Does anybody have CoreCenter and Standby running together?Ho do I work out what is causing the alarm?  I have CoolnQuiet enabled in the BIOS, if I do not run CoreCenter will CoolnQuiet still run and what about control of my Zalman 7000 Processor Fan?
many thanks
Paul

Dale the fans will still change speed according to the temps but it will be a smaller change and not as quick. CoreCenter does allow better fan control As does Speedfan, MBM and others. Keep in mind that many of us feel CoreCenter is a real turd and do not run it at all so we know it is not needed. You may like it and as such we won't tell you not to run it. However it does not change the fact that it is not needed to make C&Q work.
I'm seeing very little in the way of fan-control on my system with or without corecenter. Last night the CPU temp went from 25C (as measured by PCWiz2005, which matches what corecenter shows) to 42C under 100% load generated by prime95. Fan speed from 25C to 42C ranged from 2343rpm to 2410rpm. Max rpm on startup is around 3300rpm from memory. Is 42C too cool for the corecell chip to consider ramping up the revs on the fan?
On startup the cpu fan is locked at 3300rpm. I have to run corecenter to get it to drop back to 2300rpm.
I'm not seeing anything like reasonable fan-control on this system.

  • Samsung Smart TV Remote and Standby Mode

Hi All - A few months ago I got a Samsung Smart TV that came with a pretty nice remote. It really can control almost all aspects of the FiOS service, but there are a few commands I cannot figure out how to get it to send to the FiOS STB.
First off, when I power on the TV, the STB is still in Stanby mode. It asks for me to "Press Menu to Watch ...". I cannot figure out how to get the Samsung remote to send that command or to disable standby mode on the STB. There is no menu button on this remote that's not TV-specific.
Second, I can't figure out how to bring up the full guide using the remote. By pressing the "up" direction on the four-way button, I get some smaller version of a guide, but I would prefer to see the standard full screen guide.
Finally, is there a way to get to the On Demand and DVR menus using the Samsung remote?
Anway, that's the the scoop. Most other featuers (DVR, etc) work pretty well.
The remote I'm using is a RMCTPF1AP1 and the STB is running version 1.9.7 and build 19.45. It's a QIP7232.
Thanks in advance for any guidance on getting this working.
    Dave

I'm not sure if you are turning the STB off or if the idle timer is doing it.
No reason to turn the STB off as it doesn't save any energy.
So leaving it on would alleviate one issue.

  • Hardware sleep, hibernation and standby mode tracking

Is there a way to find out that the hardware user is on is about to go into sleep, hibernation or standby mode? I need to be able to save data to the server before the hardware temporarily shuts down. I can't seem to find anything online that addresses this issue. I want to create a code similar to the Windows Media Player that kicks in a warning before changing modes. Thanks.

    Hello avwood:
You might have add on running on your Google Crome Browser . Just dissable all your Google Crome add ons. See if that does trick. If no add ons are enabled then just un install  it and down load a new copy.  Then see if your computer goes to to sleep. If neither one these methods  work. Then most likely it is being run by U.S.A.  government spy crape back ground hiden program. I wouldn't recommend using it in the first place. frrw

  • Syslogd makes high CPU Load and standby mode doesn´t work.

After updating to Leopard I see high CPU Load caused by syslogd daemon(40%-80%) and my MacBook has problems with standby mode. After stopping the white LED lights and CPU fan speeds up. Is there any chance to fix these problems?

OK.. here's where I'm at with troubleshooting this. As I said before, for ME it occurred simultaneous to a low or out of memory situation. I don't know if syslogd was using my the ram, or if the low ram was a symptom of an issue that syslogd was getting caught up in reporting... but the system log file had tens of THOUSANDS of out of memory errors listed. Almost all were from dashboard.
So... I've done the following. In dashboard I closed ALL open widgets. I disabled spaces (since in another thread someone indicated it used a lot of memory). I ran Leopard Cache Cleaner and used it to perform maintenances, run the os scripts and rebuild caches and so on. Rebooted.
Now its working fine! Since then its been over 24 hrs and I STILL have over 300megs of ram reported free on a 1 gig system. I've used everything else like normal (safari, mail, ichat, itunes, etc..). Where the problem used to happen after a couple of hours after a reboot every time, now it seems normal. No out of mem, and syslogd is running normally (apparently).
I will run a few apps that I havent run in a while and see if those create an issue. If not, later today I will enable spaces and see how that does after a few hours. Finally I'll add in the dashboard widgets one at a time to see if the issue lies there. I'll report back here if I discover anything.

  • [875P Neo Series] CoreCenter and auto-mode

    Hi
Every time I restart my computer (windows xp) I need to click on Auto Mode of Core Center to have  the fans slow down. Looks like I can't make Corecenter to automatically start in auto-mode.
Does anyone have the same problem? Is  there any solution?
     Tanks

Check in BIOS the temp to which the fans are set to increase. If it is low (30-40) increase it to 45-50c.

  • Oracle RMAN recovery catalog database in a Primary and Standby mode

    Hello All,
The customer wants the RMAN recovery catalog database to be highly available so that none of the RMAN database backup jobs are impacted at the time of taking the database backups. There are are 200+ databases running on OEL, RHEL and Windows. So we planned to host the recovery catalog database on Oracle Active DataGuard 11.2.0.1 Enterprise Edition on RedHat EL 5.8 version on two physical servers. The Primary Instance will be in one server in the Primary DC and the Standby Instance will be on another server in another DC. Also all the database datafiles are hosted in ASM Diskgroups on SAN (DATA, FRA, REDO, ARCH diskgroups).
Are there any specific RPM/patch/OS user custom/specific settings or configurations needed..?
    Thanks in advance..
    Regards,
    Abhijit

"The customer wants the RMAN recovery catalog database to be highly available so that none of the RMAN database backup jobs are impacted at the time of taking the database backups"
    Hi,
i think you can achieve HA for the catalog DB. (Rac and Asm should work fine)
There's no way (afaik) to use TAF with the rman backup. If you have a failure during a backup it simply fails.
There is no TAF in this situation.
    Hope this helps.

  • Ipod and iF2 portable speakers - preventing standby mode kicking in.

I have recently purchased both an iPod video and the Sonic Impact i-F2 portable speakers. There is and auto standby on the speakers which means that if they are 'idle' for more than 5 mins they shut down. Does anyone know how I prevent the speakers from going into standby mode (ie Off!) while I am listening to the music on the iPod?
It's no doubt a very simple thing, but it's driving me mad! Hope someone can help.
      Windows XP
      Windows XP

i know that the ipod gets charged on some of the other docking speakers, and the speakers don't go into stand by when ipod is playing music because they are providing power to the ipod while the ipod is playing. you may need to contact the manufacturer of the sonic impact speakers for this one.

  • My iPhone turns off whenever it goes into standby mode and has to be turned back on to work

My iPhone turns off whenever it goes into standby mode and has to be turned back on to work

That's normal behavior. It turns off automatically in order to preserve the battery. Pushing the On/Off button turns it on immediately. This also requires entering the passcode and prevents the phone from being accessed by anyone but you.

  • Can't record when box is in standby mode and other...

Once my youview box has been put into standby it will not turn on with just one press of the remote but if I press the button 10 to 15 times it will usually come on after 4 to 5 minutes. during this time, the remote will not switch my Sony Bravia tv on but it will shortly after the youview box comes on. To compound the frustrations, I will usually get an IPC6023 message on the tv screen telling me that the channel I'm tuned to is unavailable but the channel is patently available because once I have pressed the ok button three times the channel plays with perfect picture and sound.
Also any recordings scheduled whilst the box is in standby mode either fail or just do not record. I presume this is because of the IPC6023 problem.
One other thing. I am at the moment watching the tv but the youview box is showing the mauve standby light rather than the blue lights which should indicate it is on and also the recording light is on despite the fact that it is not currently recording any programmes, I presume the recording light is on because the box thinks it is still trying to record a failed programme which was set to record whilst the box was in standby mode.
I have checked my broadband and cables and they do not seem to be the problem
BT has supplied me with  a 2nd Youview DTRT2100 box and this has exactly the same problems. I changed the hdmi cables and the Ethernet cables after finding this same problem occurred on the 2nd box but there is no difference.
I have now had 3 Cube engineers visit to check my problem but all they do is a factory reset, deleting any recordings that I have managed to make while the box is not in standby mode and then leaving with the problem unsolved, Now that I’ve received a replacement box which has exactly the same problems, I do not want to go through the whole rigmarole again

  • ASA Active/Standby mode and Hello messages

    Hi Everyone,
On ASA  Active/Standby mode  i know thatsay inside or any other interface of active and standby ASA should connect to same switch and vlan.
When we assign say ip address to inside interface of both ASA like
    ip address 192.168.x.1 255.255.255.0 standby 192.168.x.2 255.255.255.0
Need to know if these inside interface talk to each other or not?
    Do they send hello messages?
    Thanks
    MAhesh

    Hi Mahesh,
The ASA Active/Standby Failover pair uses both the dedicated Failover interface and the actual Data interfaces to monitor the "health" of the Failover pair.
The units send Failover hello messages and wait for a reply to determine if the other unit is alive or not.
By default all Physical interfaces are automatically monitored. To my understanding Logical interfaces such as Trunk interfaces are NOT monitored by default. You will have to configure monitoring for each subinterface of the Trunk that you want to be monitored.
    You would use the command
    monitor-interface
Check the Command Reference section for this
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/security/asa/asa84/command/reference/m.html#wp2123112
I would also suggest reading the following section of the Configuration Guide
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/security/asa/asa84/configuration/guide/ha_overview.html#wp1079010
It has information of the Unit and Interface health monitoring of the Failover pair.
If you want to debug Failover activity you could use the command
    debug fover
It has multiple additional parameter after that command
Here is the Command Reference section for the debug command
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/security/asa/asa84/command/reference/d1.html#wp2093011
You can even attach a computer on the switch between the ASAs and capture the packets between them an you can see the Failover messages etc from the ASAs

  • Standby Database and Server Mode

    Hi gurus,
Can the client TNSNAMES.ORA file specify Server=Shared for a primary and standby configuration? Or does it have to be Dedicated to make the switchover/failover work?
    Thanks a lot.
    Ben

    as document says
The connect descriptor must also specify that a dedicated server be used.

  • 7.3.2.6 crashes when coming out of standby mode

Has anyone else seen this problem with iTunes 7.3.2.6?
It crashes when coming out of standby mode. There is an error report I can send to Microsoft, but since it's an Apple program, I never send it.
Using standby was OK with iTunes 7.2.

Okay. Let's try getting a fresh one through to Roy.
If the log has been "live" for a while, info about every crash of any description will have been being added to it (with my Morrowind crashing on a daily basis, i once found a DrWatson log on belladonna that was over a GB in size). So it'll be easier for him to work through a log with just one crash on it.
Will run through my standard instructions just so i don't forget anything. (Sorry, I know you're up to speed on this sort of thing, no offense meant.)
Typically, you'll need to configure Dr. Watson on your PC in order to generate crash logs. Windows start menu -> Run. Type in "cmd". Hit return. At the prompt in the command line window that comes up, type in
    drwtsn32 -i
    And hit return.
This will create crash logs in Documents And Settings\All Users\Application Data\Microsoft\Dr Watson\. There'll usually be a file in here called "drwtsn32.log"
prior to collecting the itunes crash log, delete any existing crash logs in there. (we want to make sure we send the correct crash log.)
Generate the crash, collect the crash log, and send it as an attachment to this email address: [email protected]
In the email to Roy, be sure to include the following information:
    - A link to the thread on Apple Discussions where the issue is being discussed
    - The username you are using in the thread
    - The version of iTunes you are using or trying to use
    - the version of Windows you are using (mention service packs)
    - A concise description of the issue you are seeing
    - The exact text of the error message you are seeing

  • IPhone 5 battery draining after iOS 6.0.2 update even on standby mode without wifi/ 3G at all.

My newly bought iPhone 5 was on iOS 6.0.1
everything worked fine and i had no wifi nor battery issues at all until I upgraded it to iOS 6.0.
i noticed some battery drainage even when i'm not using my phone at all it still drains 1-2% on standby mode with no wifi nor 3G at all in an hour,
If i use wifi it'll drain 4-5% in a few minutes time, more serious case when i use 3G, it's literally draining in EVERY SINGLE MINUTE.

Per designed, Wi-Fi will disconnect in sleep mode to save battery.
If you want Wi-Fi to stay connected even in sleep mode, plugin to a wall power socket.
No it's not "per design". It's not supposed to disconnect when locked/in sleep mode. The whole concept of having live notifications to work when your phone is locked is the standard for smartphones. Having this feature only accessable when pluging/charging the phone is rediculous and counter-productive. But it's good to know that I'm not the only one who has this issue. I hope all our issues are solved swiftly, good luck to you all
