CoreCenter with an AMD 3000+ s939 and Neo2 Platinum with 1.4 (original) bios

hi everyone, ı think ı need some help. I install Windows Xp with SP1 and ı downladed and installed the nforce drivers (5.10 version) from NVidia's site not MSI's. C'n'Q function is enabled in the bios, I install AMD's latest XP driver and set"minimum power consumption" from power options. And finally ı install CoreCenter. My question and problem is; Cooling function i think works (as ı see from CoreCenter and windows) temps go up and down but Quiet (fan speed) function [I mean CPU (~3183 rpm) an NB (~5113 rpm) fan speeds always go up of their full limits] only works when I enable the C'n'Q option in CoreCenter; the program is not adjust fan speeds automatically for lower noice, I have to enable C'n'Q option in CoreCenter every time ı restart my system. What's wrong? MSI's nforce drivers and C'n'Q ı think works before I format the system. Please Help
thanx for replies

When you are using CnQ the system will automatically reduce fan speed (at least it should) when it is in the reduced operating mode. Your core clock goes down and your effective speed (MHz) also goes down when you are surfing or doing non-demanding tasks. If you start playing games  or doing anything cpu intensive the system should revert to it's highest setting which includes the fans on high speed. If you are getting abnormal behavior with Core Center you can refer to the many posts on that subject. Core Center has many bugs and Known Problems. Most people including myself chose to use other software for this purpose. If it works for you, go for it.

If it's an Intel Mac, you can upgrade it to Mac OS X 10.6.8.
If it's a PowerPC Mac, you need to use these instructions and/or iTunes Match to put content on the iPad.

    Hi,
I confirmed with Exchange support team that DAGs could be backed up separately.

  • 3000+ Venice and Neo2??

I was wondering what BIOS version I need to support a Venicie.  Seeing as my 3000+ Winny died on me and I had to RMA the motherboard I am in need of replacement since I got an OEM CPU :(  I just got the motherboard back from MSI about 2 weeks ago so should it have the most current BIOS? Thanks

Well I just recently purchased a Venice 3200+ and the K8N neo2 Platinum Mobo.  I am running bios v1.8 as it is the latest version.  My experience with this bios, is not good.  I know that this chip is not officially supported so I cannot do to much complaining but, what I have found is that I cannot OC at all... even the D.O.T causes my pc to crash.  I had an xp 3200+ prior to this and had it happily OC'd to 2.51 GHz stable with Prime95.  I have yet to run Prime at stock speeds with this one, mainly because I am afraid of the results.  But even at 2.2 GHz Prime would detect an error in less than 10 minutes.
Overall, I cannot say that this bios version is stable with the Venice core, hopefully MSI will come out with a Bios version that supports this chip soon.
It's certainly NOT the BIOS-Version. You just got a CPU that doesn't OC well. I am running a Venice 3500+@2582 MHz primestable with BIOS V1.8, V1.7 or V1.6 with 1.35 VCORE. The only thing that doesn't work with the new cores and this BIOS reviisions (1.5-1.8) is C&Q.

  • New NF980-G65 with an AMD X6 1090T and the BIOS Update Utility Crashes?

Last week I received my new NF980-G65 board and with it an AMD Phenom II X6 1090T (Thuban 3.2GHz Socket AM3).  After installing the board and starting it up for the first time I noticed that it reports BIOS version 1.1 and CPU unknown.  Next I downloaded the BIOS update to version 1.3 from msi, made a boot USB stick and powered up again.  System will not boot from USB.  I tried now over 20 different sticks from 256MB to 64GB and none of them worked!
Went back to my old system and ripped its floppy drive out to install it in the new computer.  Had to go to RadioShack since I have not touched a floppy in over 10 years, but they had some on clearance.  Made me a boot disk, put the new BIOS and install utility on it, booted the system with the floppy, started the BIOS update utility and watched it crash.  When I start it by itself it gives me three screens of options and commands, but as soon as I try to use one of the commands or update the BIOS it keeps crashing.
What do I have to do to get the BIOS on the NF980-G65 updated so it will run with my AMD X6 1090T processor?
Thank you in advance for ANY help...
    Tyler

I am sorry, but I need to work with this thing since I make a living writing code, I do not play with it!  This thing and the support I am getting for it are not worth my time or money!
What thing are you talking about?  You are experiencing the a certain symptom for which you do not know the cause.  For some strange reason and without any in-depth tests you seem to assume that the board must be the problem (ignoring all other components (for example your factory overclocked memory modules).

What support have you tried to get that actually has to do anything with money?  Please note that this is not MSI Technical Support but a User-to-User forum, run by users (just like you) that do not get paid for donating their private time to try to help others.  Whatever your level of frustration is in regards to the money spent for your components, please do not use it to insult anyone here in this forum.

  • K8N Neo2 Platinum with 512 MB or 1GB DDR? Which amount do you suggest?

Looking for personal experience and feedback as to whether or not its worthwhile to go for 1GB of DDR rather than my current 512 MB DDR. Also if there is a correlation between stability and DDR ram amount, I'd be interested to hear of it.
If my PC is the following:
    1. Enermax CS-656-TA ATX case (Case fan, USB x 2 , audio I/O, Firewire x 1, temperature readout, fan speed control and 350 PSU all for only $77!! Of course, I used the 350 PSU in my fathers PC and for this PC I'm using the PSU below)
    2. Enermax 420 watt noisetaker PSU (one of the most efficient) One case fan that came with and one Antec automatic with thermistor
    3. MS XP Pro upgrade with SP2
    4. MSI K8N Neo 2 Platinum socket 939
    5. AMD64 3000+ winchester 939 CPU (to be isntalled using Artic Silver)
    6. OCZ Premier Dual Channel 2 x 512 MB PC3200 DDR (OCZ4001024PDC-K 2x512M PC3200 Kit 2.5-3-3-7)
    7. ATI 9700 Pro AGP video card (I plan to underclock it when not in use for 3D games. I may upgrade to a 9800 Pro (preferably R360 core) or a 9800 XT or nvidia 6600GT. Whichever video card I get, I'll be underclocking it when not playing 3D games etc.
    8. Mitsumi 1.44 MB floppy and card reader via USB 2.0 (only card reader is USB 2.0 connected)
    9. Seagate 7200.7 200 GB SATA HD x 1 (may keep WD 80 GB EIDE but no need)
    10. LG 4163B DVD RW - EIDE
    11. Plextor 24/10/40 CDRW - EIDE
    12. Adaptec 2930U SCSI card;
    13. Pioneer 303S SCSI drive and; (dormant. Won't be used except to test and compare its read performance with the other two drives before selling)
    14. Umax 1200S SCSI scanner
    15. Onboard sound, apparantly not great
    16. Onboard LAN, nForce 3 LAN is ok but second LAN I'll not use it
So how much difference would I see with using 1 GB of DDR memory vs 512 MB? For what applications?
    thanx

  • MSI K8N Neo2 Platinum with Western Digital 750Gb Caviar Green 32mb

Hi all, this is my first post and im a bit of a numbskull when it comes to upgrading, thus this post.
My HDD is on its last legs and I want to get a Western Digital 750Gb Caviar Green 32mb. Im not sure weather it will work with my  MSI K8N Neo2 Platinum (MS-7025). Can anyone help me out? If you have any suggestions for a better HDD to go for that would also be appreciated, Cheers

Burst speeds are high mainly because of the disk's cache. That's the only part of the HDD that can get near the maximum bandwdth of the controller.
The bottleneck for speed is in the fact that the HDD's mechanical properties won't allow it to work faster. With SSD's it is or will be different.
Back to topic: the WD Green is an excellent choice. I've 6 of those running here now, 5 in a NAS and 1 in my pc and they're simply good. Not the fastest, but very stable, quiet and fast enough.

  • Raid0 with Samsung Spinpoint Sata2 on K8N Neo2 Platinum

I been thinking of buying two 80GB/8MB cache Samsung Spinpoint Sata2 drives and run the system partition (WinXP) on Raid0. Anyone had any problems with Samsung Sata2 drives on their neo2's? and will i notice any performance increase?

    TheMan,
I run a Samsung SpinPoint P120S 250GB SATA2 8MB 7200RPM NCQ, as a single sata on a system with no native Sata 2 support, so I added a Promise Sata2 PCI card and I´m very happy with the performance ( even though it cost too much extra to be reasonable ).

  • Iphone 4, cant recieve media text with sound sound is seperate and wont play with pictures.

when recieving media messages the sound seperates into quicktime and wont play with photo.

I have been experiencing this problem for the last few days.  I've tried going in to settings and changing things on the sound menu but to no avail. I can get no sound on my videos, Internet videos and I can't change the volume setting when the phone is on the home page.
I originally thought it might be a problem with the volume buttons on the side of the phone but they work for voice memo sounds. That audio seems to come from the ear piece so I wonder is there a problem with the speakers on the bottom of the phone.
Any ideas on what's wrong? Did I possibly change some settings without realising? Is there a menu to change volume settings for videos?
I'm going I go into an apple shop when I'm near one because this is driving me crazy!

  • MSI neo2 platinum problem, forced to reset BIOS everytime I turn on the PSU

I just got my neo2 platinum mobo. Everytime I switch it ON all the led's at the back (diagnostic) turn red/orange and never turn green.
I have to reset the bios everytime to get it to post successfully. (bios is the original bios, no flashes done)
    Processor: 3000+ (939)
Anyone else have this problem? what causes it?
[update] the bios version is 1.3 which is the latest on the msi website
    System Specs..
    AMD Athlon 64 3000+ 90nm (socket 939)
    MSI K8N Neo2 Platinum
    1 GB Kingston HyperX DDR 400 CS2
    SBlive
    Nvidia GeForce4 Ti4200 128MB MEM
    Logitech MX510
1x80GB WD HDD with 8MB cache
1x120GB WD HDD with 8MB cache
    Lite-On 48x CD-RW
    NEC 16X DVD RW Drive
RAIDMAX Black Aluminum Gaming Case with 6 case fans and 420W PSU

I think the power supply may be the problem
Once you reset the bios you don't need the amps to spin up the drives, as they are already spinning, saving you about 3 amps I bet. If the newer bios doesn't help, try unplugging half those case fans, the non boot drive, and take the cd's out of you optical drives so they dont spin up, then try cold booting your box a couple times. If it works you know you need a new power supply.
If it doesn't perhaps you've got a grounding problem? Are you positive that nothing metal is touching your motherboard where it shouldn't? If that isn't it, Id  assume the cmos never really clears, and then take the battery out of the motherboard for a good hour while the power supply is unplugged, then give it another shot. I've seen a bunch of DFI boards do weird stuff like that before, the exact same thing actually. Nvidia has a few odd issues with the nforce chipsets and the cmos.
Oh, since you asked, 3000+ is 1.8 ghz. It will probably run at 2.4ghz easy (1.4 volts), thats a 90nm chip

  • [AMD] 3000+ Barton and wire trick

Does anyone know why the 2800+Barton with the wire trick worked for the 200FSB but the 3000+Barton doesn't? I tried with the 3000+ and it won't go to the 200FSB.   I then tried the 2800+Barton again and it works. What is with this 3000+?   I figured that if I took the 2800+ to a 3200+ then I could really get the 3000+ OCed. Did they do something to the 3000+ so that it wouldn't work?

At least I have a system that is running. I ought to be thankful for that. I have the 2800+333MHz and 2x512mb of Kingston 333MHz memory and an old P3 800MHz w/ 512mb. system. All I need is another socket A motherboard and with the parts from the P3 I will have another good system. The P2 is still running and is maxed out. It can't be upgraded any more. So I'll build another AMD system that will run just as well as this one. PLUS I'll start folding with that one also.

  • Macbook Pro 15-inch, Late 2011. I'm 100% certain that I bought it with the AMD Radeon HD 6770M graphics processor with 1GB of GDDR5. It says that I have HD Graphics 3000 384 MB. WHY?

I don't understand why my MacBook Pro 15-inch, Late 2011 version is reporting to me that I only have the Intel HD Graphics 3000 384 MB card in it. Why is this? When I bought it I was given the choice to choose between the 500 mb or 1 GB video card and I chose to pay extra in order to get the 1 GB, but now it says that I don't even have that( I can't find it anywhere). I never realized this until now. I was just looking at my specs again to make sure if my Macbook Pro was ready for the upcoming Mountain Lion OS. Please help me understand why this is happening. I'm 100% certain I bought the 1GB video Card and that my mac is supposed to have a quad core processor. I also ordered with the highest resolution screen available at that time which was something like an extra $100. I made sure that I had these extras because I wanted a mac that was going to perform great and not skip a beat. I have noticed it's been skipping here and there and I have been surpirsed at how slow it can get sometimes. I only have 4 GB ram at the moment, but I know that I can upgrade to 16 GB if I need to and have been contemplating on whether i should or not. I also like to do some gaming when I have the extra time and I've noticed that sometimes it has a hard time with some games. I bought this mac around January of this year. Is it possible that there was just a mess up in the shipping on the extras I had added? Thank you for your help.

Everything seems to be working fine except I do not think my Radeon is running in 8x AGP mode. It will not let me select the mode in the bios nor will the Radeon drivers let me select it either. Im running a Audigy 2, and 512 megs of Kingmax 3200 DDR.
Like I say everything else seems to be running fine just the AGP mode seems messed up..... Any suggestions?
I was gonna try flashing the bios but when I make a DOS bootable floppy it does not recognize my SATA drive. Is there a way to maually put DOS drivers for the SATA on the bootable disc?

Posting a update in case another has the same problem. What I eventually had to do was remove all ATI drivers and the VIA AGP miniport driver and reinstall with the 4 in 1 drivers being installed 1st.

  • Thermalright XP-120 and neo2 platinum

Has anyone tried to use this heatsink with a "platinum" series motherboard?
    I have a neo2-pfs platinum.
I emailed thermalright about the fit of the heatsink and got this response:
"XP-120 will fit your motherboard if you can tilt 4 capacitors away from CPU socket to clear the heatpipes loops.  the underside of XP-120 fin will clear up to 38mm tall chipset cooler."
Does anyone know if this height is tall enough to clear the stock passive northbridge heatsink on a platinum series?
I guess I could always get a shorter cooler for the northbridge.

the way the caps are laid out, the tilting is VERY minor, so I don't believe this will be much of a problem.
I don't think it will be able to clear my northbridge heatsink though.  May have to replace it with a shorter passive cooler. (which will be ok because it will get plenty of air from the fan on top of the xp-120)
here's a link to this cooler.  anyone thought about it for a platinum series board?
