Corp Firewall/Proxy Slowness

Hi LCCS Team,
I am working with a client that has some restrictions in his corp. firewall and proxy servers. In essence, each LCCS request has to go through the proxy servers and that slows things
done considerably. Also, only http (80) and https (443) is allowed to pass through. Is there a way to force my code to only use https from the moment that the connection is made
to the LCCS servers? I don't want to use rtmp, etc. since it delays the connection considerably due Flash trying to connect without success before it defaults to https.
Thanks,
Michael

From what I've read, although I've never had to use it, you can tell the JVM to use a proxy by using the -D parameter and passing values when you run you're program e.g for an web/http proxy you'd do something like .
java -Dhttp.proxySet=true -Dhttp.proxyHost=192.168.1.100 -Dhttp.proxyPort=8888 myjavaprogram
You can also save these settings in a properties file and read them from there apparently. As for being behind/confronted by a firewall - don't thing there's much you can do about that if it isn't going to let you through.

  • Firewall/Proxy Server Issue

I'm testing a new Flex/CF app. From my location it runs well
on the production server. But from another location that is behind
a Symantec firewall/proxy server, it runs unusably slowly. I'm
using Flex remote object calls (Flash remoting) to communicate with
CF. I don't know if the problem is related to that or simply
something to do with Flash Player. Has anyone experienced this
problem? I'm not a network administrator and am not familiar with
Symantec firewalls so I'm not sure what to ask their network admin
to try. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Did you add a new library in the project to include weblogic.jar from the WebLogic 6.1?
What kind of a client is it?
You can also try using the setting in the menu
    Tools | Preferences | Web Browser/Proxy
    to enable disable the proxy.

  • Firewall / Proxy

Hello, i'm new of this forum :-)
    I have a question about firewall/proxy tunnelling.
I have build a little application with Socket Client on port 80,
but it do not work on system that have firewall or proxy.
So I have to convert my application to have the ability of work with firewall and proxy.
To do it I have read more documentation about SPI,
and I have decided to use URLConnection.
If I open Socket and send content-type 'application/zip',
and after that i send a ZIPPED version of "traffic" I think that my Socket
can work with firewall and proxy.
    It's correct ?
    Thank you,

Very likely it's not configured correctly.
Have a look at the following:
    1. See the document on the BM CD, documents/craig johnson directory.
Check to see if you installed BM on the server correctly.

  • Bypassing Firewall/Proxy Settings with Dreamweaver CS3

    Hello,
The company that I work for has given us Dreamweaver CS3 and
it's great, however we have a problem with the companies firewall
blocking Dreamweaver from seeing external images when in "Design"
view. I have search throughout Google for a solution and have yet
to find one. I come here in the hopes that someone can help. Our IT
department has told me that the firewall solution they use does not
allow rule sets per application, so they cannot just say "allow
this program to use the web". This leaves me in a tough spot, but
they said in Dreamweaver CS3 has a way to setup a proxy and allow
it to bypass our firewall that would make this quick and easy. Does
DW have something like this, and if so then please point me in the
    right direction!
    I appreciate all assistance.
    Regards,
    John

Maybe not per application but certainly by PC or IP adress.
    Can they put
your IP adress in a rule less agressif.

  • Flash behind corporate Firewall/proxy

    Hello,
I work for part of the NHS in Scotland.  we are having issues with some flash content, bbc news website being an example.  We proxy all requests, and the bbc website flash content isnt being displayed.  My network guys have checked the proxy logs, and we see a direct connection out to the internet, which fails at the firewall.
From what I read, this is normal for flash, that it doesnt use the system proxy settings.  Whats confusing us is that the proxy logs show in some cases a direct connect request which fails, followed by a request for the same content via the proxy.
I'm trying to explain to customers why we cant get certain content, and the above seems inconsistent.
Is anyone able to explain the above behaviour?  Why does some content pass via the proxy, and some fail?
    Many thanks.
    Scott

Cotton_Pete please point your I.T. department to the Adobe Creative Cloud Service Access Documentation for IT section at    http://www.adobe.com/devnet/creativesuite/enterprisedeployment.html.  They can find documentation which will allow your I.T. department to properly configure your network for Adobe subscription and perpetual products.

  • Webmail Proxy slow

    Hi,
Webmail Prxy ims 5.2 on one machine to second ims52 webmail/mstore.
The initial login is very slow, once logged in speed is good.
    any ideas?
    thanks

    Hi Jay,
I looked at the network device between the
etween the ldap and the webmail,
i found the below deny from my pix.
106015: Deny TCP (no connection) from Y.Y.Y.Y/9267 to
X.X.X.X/389 flags PSH ACK on interface dmz_A.
This message means that there was a connection
without traffic, and the pix drop this tcp
    connection.
To avoid this problem the webmail must send keep
alive packet to the ldap. No, actually, you don't want MEM sending a keep-alive. What you do want to do is to set the ldaprefreshinterval to be less than your firewall's idle drop. You also need to set your LDAP server's idel timeout to be less than the firewall's idle drop.
Letting the firewall drop a connection is a Bad Thing, in that it simply disconnects both parties, without any kind of RESET or other notification. You will leak file descriptors on LDAP, and will cause hanging on the MEM due to this.
Start with LDAP idletimeout. Then set the ldap refresh interval on your MEM.
    >
Another thing, i changed the position of my webmail
so there is no pix or other device only switch (the
same dmz). And i will monitor the problem tomorow.
Please I looked at the tuning of the ldap, there is
only a litle bit of parameters to tune, please have
you a book reference for monitoring ?

  • Messages Beta doesn't work behind corp firewall

Any suggestion on this using like port 80 or 8080 to send messages to iPhone and iPad? Thanks!!!

No, you can't change the ports used by Messages. All you can do is open the port required by Messages in the firewall.

  • Getting through a firewall proxy

    Hi,
I work behind a proxy server and I need to send messages out side of my intranet. I followed all the steps in the e-docs http://e-docs.bea.com/workshop/docs81/doc/en/core/index.html for setting up my proxy authentication but I still cannot get out. I need to authenticate with my proxy on every request. I am also getting the message: <Property: net.proxyAuthenticatorClassName is not a recognized MBean attribute or special property used for Management. It is probably beings used by subsystems and will continue to work as expected if it is a supported option.>
I dont know if that is my problem or not thought.
Any help would be greatly apprecitated!

    Hi,
It does seem strange as the ports Apple list that iMessage uses are ones that iChat would already have.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4245
Port 80 would be used to check with the Apple Servers about Apple IDs used in iChat
Port 443 is used for Logins to both AIM and me.com in iChat 6  (This combo restricts the use of @me.com names from iCloud to iChat 6)
Port 5223 is Jabber Login port for most Jabber server including the GoogleTalk and Facebook servers.

  • Safari HTTPS Firewall Proxy Problem...

    Hi everyone,
I am having a problem at work with safari. First of all, browsers like firefox, camino, and opera work fine. Browsers like Safari, Shiira, and Sunrise Browser cannot open https sites properly. I am always asked to type in username and password from the browser. Afterwards this login window appears again and again and I cannot read the https site or klick on anything. I have already tried aproxy to set the https proxy settings differently.
No I wonder if you have experienced similar problems and if anyone has a solution, since I would very much prefer Safari to Firefox, Camino or Opera...

    Hi All
Downloaded Safari on my PC at work, OS-Win XP and got some the same problem, but I'm not even able to change the proxy settings (under preferences/advance tab), as this has been locked by the sys admin. Do you know if there is away around this...? as they do not support Safari, but FIREFOX works fine...
    Cheers

  • Multicast firewall-proxy issues?

    Hi all,
Are there any firewall issues I should keep in mind when deploying a multicasting application?
    Thanks in advance,
    Kind regards

Maybe I'm naive, but why would you write a multicasting application going onto a public network? Or put another way, where would you encounter a firewall unless you were trying to multicast onto a public network?

  • Firewall causes slow mDNS (Bonjour) Lookups

I'm planning to upgrade our company's tiger server to leopard soon and for testing purposes I'm running Leopard server (10.5.5) on another machine. I've worked out most of the issues except for one major one.
mDNS (Bonjour) lookups take about 60-90 seconds to resolve when the server's firewall is running. This is the same problem across lookups for any service (SSH via terminal, web, AFP). I don't plan to use mDNS on our network as the server will be running DNS for our LAN, but Time Machine backups always connect to the AFP share using the mDNS name rather than the server's Fully Qualified Domain Name. When this lookup takes such a long time it will more or less freeze the client system during this time.
Client machines aren't running firewalls locally.
This happens with both tiger and leopard clients.
I have tried setting the firewall to allow all connections from "any" to "any" but it still doesn't work.
I am not running DNS on the server but I have tried turning it on with still no luck.
Here are the results from running "sudo ipfw list":

Note that this should block most services but allow machines on our internal subnets (192.168.15.0 and 192.168.16.0) to connect.
Any help or advice will be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks.

I have independently confirmed Baerner's results. Last week I installed ethereal and Wireshark from the fink project and traced the IPP data packets between my desktop client and the print server. Bonjour is definitely using IPV6 in Leopard for printing services.
Reading the Wikipedia page, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IPv6#Special_addresses, I used the ip6fw utility to add the firewall rule:
    *01101 allow ipv6 from fe80::/10 to fe80::/10*
which allows link-local addresses to communicate with the server.
Printing on the server works well with the new firewall rule. I just need to find out how to get the Server Admin tool to set the rule from the FireWall GUI.

  • Using Sent Unix Command in ARD 3 with proxy authentication

I'd like to use Unix commands to update Apple software through ARD thus allowing me to lock the computer screen before the process using the ARD command to do so, thus keeping the users from interfering with the process .
Our network utilizes password protected firewall proxy that hangs ARD when using the softwareupdate command through ARD's "Send Unix Command..." at the point in which it would ask for authentication if using the same command in the terminal.
Is there a Unix/terminal script or a series of script commands that could be modified to wait and enter the appropriate authentication at the previous mentioned prompt?
I've researched this topic on this forum and discover a few post that states it is not possible but they are fairly old posts so I am hoping ARD 3 has some scripts or commands that can pass thru a username and password

  • IPhoto '08 Book upload errors with squid transparent proxy - tip

    Hi folks
I've just "solved" a problem I was having with iPhoto Book uploads. The solution may apply to other publishing products from iPhoto and possibly iDisk uploads too.
My firewall & proxy setup is basically Linux iptables redirecting all outbound http (port 80) connections to a dansguardian filter, which in turn is passed onto a squid instance running as a transparent proxy (oh, and there's a privoxy in this all too!). Yeah, OK, I know, slightly paranoid, but I don't want my children accidently browsing stuff I don't think they are old enough for yet!
Now I had the problem before with iPhoto '06 as well, but at the time just didn't have the time or inclination to figure out what the problem was, and just did the book order and upload from the office, where it went through without a problem. This time I decided to dig a bit and see what was happening. The clue that triggered off the solution was watching the part of the order process where the book data is uploaded. In my default setup, the upload bar would scream through to 100%, and then sit there for ages, before coming back with a connection error. Watching the network flashy lights on the NIC on the firewall though, it suddenly dawned on me that what was happening was that the upload was screaming through to the squid (as there was no outbound network activity from the firewall while this was happening) and then sitting there waiting for squid to pass it on to the Apple site (as shown by the outbound NIC activity light suddenly going bonkers once the uoload bar hit 100%).
So clearly there's a problem sending book orders via a squid proxy setup as a transparent proxy. It might also very well be dansguardian interfering and wanting to take the entire upload and checking it before passing it on to squid. I already have site exception setup for all apple.com urls though in dansguardian, so didn't think it would be that. I thought about dicking around with the squid acl's but didn't have the enthusiasm to spend half the day getting that working.
So what I did in the end was tail the squid logs to see what was being proxied whilst the book order was going on, and then dropped in 3 new rules in my iptables setup just before the redirect rule. Tried ordering the book again, and voila!
The three rules I inserted were:
    $IPTABLES -t nat -A PREROUTING -s ! 10.1.1.1 -p tcp -d mercury.apple.com -j ACCEPT
    $IPTABLES -t nat -A PREROUTING -s ! 10.1.1.1 -p tcp -d configuration.apple.com -j ACCEPT
    $IPTABLES -t nat -A PREROUTING -s ! 10.1.1.1 -p tcp -d publish.mac.com -j ACCEPT
The "-s ! 10.1.1.1" bit is obviously particular to my setup, as I wouldn't want connections from the router itself being proxied, so that may need to either be customised or left out altogether. These three rules are then immediately followed by the redirect:
    $IPTABLES -t nat -A PREROUTING -s ! 10.1.1.1 -p tcp --dport 80 -j REDIRECT --to-port 8081
Hope that is of some help to someone out there!

    Hi Noman,
Can you try running the URL in the browser and check if you are able to "view" the wsdl?
For the second issue, i feel it could be because of the firewall / proxy issue. Try setting the proxy (if you are using one) in your jdeveloper-> Tools->Preferences->Web Browser and Proxy section.
