  • Why can't i add events to calendars shared with me?

After i updated my MacBook Pro, i could not add events to the calendars shared with me. When i try to put an event in another calendar, it is not there.. I have the same problem on my iMac.

I was able to fix this problem with the information I found on the link pasted below. (I had two calendars, and the "default" calendar was not set to my iCloud calendar.)

  • Bitrate Home Sharing with iOS ?

Witch Bitrate and sampling rate are used in iTunes Home Sharing with iOS ?

The following says iOS 4.3 or later. It also says the latest version of iTunes and that requires OS X 10.6.8 or later, but it might be worthwhile to try all of the troubleshooting steps anyway. http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2972

  • ITunes Home Sharing with iOS 4.3

I have a MacBook Pro, 1st and 2nd generation Apple TV, iPhone 3GS, and 3rd Generation iPod Touch (yeah, BIG fan of Apple!). When I bought the 2nd generation Apple TV I was able to setup Home Sharing on my MacBook Pro and the new Apple TV. According to Apple's website, with iOS 4.3, you can now share your entire iTunes library on any mobile device running iOS 4.3. On my iPhone 3GS, I went into settings and turned on Home Sharing. However, when I trying to get a video that is playing in iTunes on my MacBook Pro and get it to play on my iPhone 3GS, I am only seeing the option of either the computer or 2nd generation Apple TV.

Home Sharing is not a 'push' feature it is a 'pull' feature.
By that I mean that you cannot push content from iTunes to your mobile devices.
What you do is pull the content from iTunes onto the mobile device.
You are confusing AirPlay (which pushes content) with Home Sharing (which pulls content).
On the mobile device go into the iPod App and then into the ... (more menu) at the bottom, you should see the Shared option, pick this and it will allow you to select the iTunes library. You can then stream content from it (pull).

  • ICal made google calendars "shared" with themselves

Somehow two (of my three) google calendars which all used to show up under my g-mail account in ical recently were changed to being labeled as "shared."  However, these calendars are not shared with anyone.  When I look at them on my iPhone, they are labeled as shared with themselves.  For example, the calendar labeled "School" says it is "Shared with School."  Any idea what I did wrong or how to change this back?

I'm having this same issue - it's very frustrating.
Did you ever figure it out?

  • Disastrous Calendar Issue with IOS 5 upgrade

I upgraded both my and my wife's iPhone 4's to IOS 5 last night. I did mine first, chose iCloud, and then disabled iCloud when I was told I was over the 5GB limit. I don't have mobileme or anything like that; always backed up to my Windows Vista 4 machine using iTunes. I never use my calendar on my iPhone so I never worried about that aspect. Everything went fine with the upgrade.
Fast forward. I upgraded my wife's phone on the same copy of iTunes. I don't think I let the phone synch first with the system (I don't recall). I got the prompt for the IOS 5 upgrade and immediately said OK, recalling that the phone seemed to back itself up before upgrading. Everything looked good. I said yes to iCloud again thinking that she has less on her phone but it still said she was over 5GB so I disabled it. After the upgrade, she went to her calendar and lo and behold, it's all blank!
Her contacts and notes are still there but nothing on the calendar. iTunes says she's set up to synch to iCloud under calendars so I can't tell what the setting was before the upgrade. On the iphone itself, calendar is set to update to iCloud (even though backup is disabled) while reminders and notes are not.
Unfortunately, she used this calendar for everything. I looked for previous backups and didn't see anything after 4/1/11. This actually is possible, sadly, even though we know better. She doesn't synch a lot and we just got in the habit of adding stuff to her phone.
Is there any way that there is a copy of her calendar entries somewhere I haven't checked?
Also note that on the iphone itself under calendar settings it shows synching with Yahoo (where she synchs email but never enters anything on the calendar), "work," "home," and "iCloud." I have no idea what it used to say before the IOS upgrade.
I'm running out of ideas. It will probably take a full day to reconstruct if we don't find an answer. I was ready to pay Apple for support but the nearest call back option they offered under "express lane" service was next Friday. Please help!
    Thanks,
    Jim

You need to post this kind of stuff elsewhere for Apple to see it:

  • Home sharing with iOS remote app stopped working

In my home, I have four macs (3 minis and an imac), each with their own iTunes media library, and 2 ATVs.  Home Sharing is turned on, with the same ID on all of these devices.  When I operate each device natively (using keyboard/mouse or ATV hard remote), I can see the music library on each of the other devices, and play that music.  I also have an iPhone and an iPad, with the Remote app installed, and using the same Home Sharing ID.  On each of these, I can see each of the macs and ATVs, and the music in their individual libraries, and can play that music on the device on which that library resides.  So far, so good.
What I can't do, although I could do it several weeks ago, is use the remote app to access one device, and then play music from the shared library on another device.  I can see the other devices' libraries, but when I select "music" within that device, it says "no songs".  This is very curious, and like I said, it worked a few weeks ago.
Has anyone seen this issue, and do you know how to fix it?
    Thanks.

But this is where the problem starts. While I am using the remote app, I exit the app to do something else on the phone. I go back into the app, and the app attempts to connect to my iTunes library. It fails!!
I'm having this exact same problem. I was using the remote app with iTunes on my computer and speakers connected to my airport express for months with no issues at all. It worked flawlessly. But I got the new apple tv a few days ago and had to turn on home sharing as part of the setup...and then the problems began. I started having the exact issue described by the original post: the remote app will just randomly not be able to see my iTunes library. Sometimes it works fine, sometimes it just sits there spinning for a while and eventually says it couldn't find my library. If I wait a few minutes it will eventually just start working again.
This is extremely annoying and is making me want to just return the apple tv and go back to my previous setup which worked perfectly. If Apple would at least acknowledge the problem and that a fix will be forthcoming, I would be satisfied.

  • How can I change the time zone for a calendar entry with iOS 7?

I want to make a new entry in my calendar (iOS 7) using a different time zone as the one I'm located in. There isn't any option to choose the time zone like there is in OS X.
I know I can switch off the option to automatically change the time zone in the preference pane of Mail, Contacts and Calendar to get the option in calendar but I want to use this automatic switch.
Is there any option to change the time zone of a calendar entry without loosing this automatic switch?

    Got it!
In your backing file you'll need the following in your handlePostbackData method:
    BookBackingContext bookCtx = BookBackingContext.getBookBackingContext(arg0);
    bookCtx.setupPageChangeEvent("PageLabel");

  • Are Exchange accounts no longer the way to go for email, contacts, calendar, etc. with ios

I have been reading around and learning that Google is not supporting Exchange accounts for ios7 any longer. I believe they still work if you previously used them. But I've also had some trouble with syncing elements of this account to my iPad.
Is it recommended to use Google accounts instead of Exchange with the iPad/iPhone?

Thanks. I cannot get all the calendars to sync with Google Exchange. So I double up with Google and select the calendars that won't sync.
The down side of Google is that you cannot change colors of calendars (and I have a few that are obscuring each other). That's the main reason I am syncing to both at once (or rather to the obstinate calendars).
I'd love to find a way to get all cals to sync via exchange, but they won't, above all my main personal google calendar. They work fine on the iPhone, just not on the iPad since I deleted the account and reinstalled it.

One residual advantage of Exchange, when it works, is outlined in this thread.

What measures is Apple taking to lock down security on iOS Address Book so contents not freely available to developers?

Those details are available to developers that have participated in an agreement and related NDAs.

If you turn on the sync features in the iTunes application, then you will sync playlists!

  • Calendar bug with Office 365 for Education (exchange accounts)

I have an Office 365 Exchange account provided by my University. When I add the account to my Mac, Mail.app and Contacts.app work perfectly. However I receive an error message in Calendar which states that “Calendar needs a valid email address to connect” to my account. The address is clearly valid since it is working in Mail and Contacts. Furthermore, this account works perfectly in iOS Mail, Contacts, and Calendar. The issue is only with Calendar in OS X. Upon researching online, it appears that this issue will occur on Macs if the account is hidden on the Exchange Global Address List (which is true for my account). Below are a few additional points that are related to this bug:
    1. iOS connects to Exchange through ActiveSync which is why I don't see the issue on iOS devices.
    2. OS X connects to Exchange through Exchange Web Services (EWS). OS X supports EWS for Calendar syncing only when a users name is listed on the Global Address List. If the account is hidden (and they usually are for Office 365 educational accounts at Universities complying with FERPA laws) then Calendar.app cannot connect and sync the users calendar. I am not sure if this is by-design or a bug.
    3. The third-party Mac app 'BusyCal 2' also uses EWS to connect to Exchange and it will work regardless of the visibility of the user's account on the GAL.
This has led me to two conclusions: Either  (1) Apple has a bug in Calendar.app, or (2) the bug is in EWS and Busycal 2 is forcing some sort of work-around. It's likely that Apple and Microsoft will need to work together to fix the issue. I've attempted submitting a bug report to Apple but I have no way to contact Microsoft since I am not an admin for the Office 365 plan that my school uses. I would need to go through my admins but they don't seem to care much about this issue. So pretty much I'm left helpless at this point :/
Does my analysis seem valid or does anyone else have any points to contribute? I would appreciate the assistance

    Hi,
There are two ways to share read access to your calendar on premise to Office 365. The method you choose depends on your requirements and the level of access that you want to give to the calendars. But providing write access to the calendar is not possible
    in a Cross-Premise scenario.
For more information, here is a blog for your reference.
