I have successfully replaced the form provided by SAP for 'Corporate Information' in ESS and successfully executed the service.
Now, I need to upload a company-specific PDF to replace the current form (or add a new policy). Where do I upload the PDF?

We are trying to configure the Corporate Conduct Service in ESS. We have done all the required configuration as per SAP Help, but when we try to see it in portal under Corporate Information Tab, it says " No Services defined in this area". We are using "SECC" as scenario.
We are on ECC 6.0 and EP 7.0 SP 13.

Error in Code of Conduct Application in Corporate Information In ESS

I'm new In SAP Portal and Ess
When I try To Open 'Code of Conduct Application' in 'Corporate Information' tab in 'ESS'
the page open correctly and the Adobe Page Appear Under the Following error Line:-
You have no authorization for notification type E1
and when i press review button I can't review the document and return back to the edit mode and lose any modification i did
how do I Correct this error?

This is a permission issue...
Goto Tcode ST01 and check for authorization failures.....
Ask your basis team to assign you required authorization.........
Also check default trace of portal and see if some permission denied exception is there....

Custom Corporate Information

Hello All,
I created new scenarios and assigned them to resources which, in turn, I assigned to services and assigned the services to the corporate information page.
The forms open and I can 'Send' them but, they do not appear in the backend (Infotype 35), as the original/standard sample did. I copied the standard scenario to create the new scenarios so I don't understand why they aren't working the same way.
Why could this be not working? Is there any place I can create this relationship manually?

Sorry for replying late. The standard scenario does not use workflow.
However, I have found the function module responsible for persisting the changes in the backend, HRESS_FORMS_WRITE_IT0035. It belongs to function group, HRESS_FORMS_SECC.
All that remains is to find the connection between the function and the scenario so I can create custom functions for each scenario. Can anyone provide insight on this connection?

ICloud in the corporate environment

I work for a large financial institution and part of my job is to support the MAC environment. We are ordering new laptops and desktops, which now come with Lion. After configuring them with the standard network settings including DNS Search Domains, an automatic Proxy Configuration script, bypass proxy settings for specific Host and Domains and applying all the recommended updates from the Apple site, upon first login and subsequent logins, without any specific programs running, a warning box pops up asking for the ID and password to our proxy. Our company requires access is granted to the Internet through the use of AD credential from the Windows domain. It has cause some grief and wasn't a problem in Snow Leopard. I suspect the iCloud client. Since we are a financial institution, we will never use iCloud and would like to remove this totally from the OS. We don't want to take the chance of a user may use his/her personal account to sync corporate information to any external location that is not directly controlled by Information Security Systems. I have searched the net and can't find and resolution. Please advise.

You say you are getting a popup when you first boot up the computer. I doubt this could be iCloud because that would have to be specifically configured with a login in order to do anthing. There are however various things which might try to connect to the internet on boot up - the clock for example, though this is something you would normally set - evidently something expects to be able to connect but is falling over your proxy server.
I would suggest you ask in the Leopard forum (if that indeed is what you are using) and specifically ask if anyone knows what applications might automatically try to connect on boot-up.

ESS Corporate Code of Conduct

Can you please let me know how we can configure ESS Corporate Code of Conduct? I can see the tab page "Corporate Information" in ESS. However, when I am clicking on "Code of Conduct Service" I am getting following error message:

DPS general information

Hello,
I have some rather generic doubts about the service:
-Is there any limitation to the content? What I mean with this question is that, just as with iBooks Author you need to have a project full of interactive content in order to not be rejected, does DPS have a similar limitation? Moreover, is there any limitation to the content? I may begin a publication for a company, which would mainly consist of corporate information updated every month.
-Once you buy a DPS account (be it single, enterprise or professional), do I have to wait until I can begin to publicate things? Also, once I send the project to Adobe, how long does it take them to validate it?
I know those are rudiemntary questions, but I have been unable of finding proper answers.

Hi Xavier,
Adobe does not do any validation of or place any restriction on your content. The marketplace you submit your application to does. If you submit to Apple then your content needs to meet their app store rules and regulations. Same for Amazon, GooglePlay, and Windows Store.
As soon as you have your account paid account with Adobe you can publish your content. The application for viewing it is subject to the review times for the marketplace before it is available for your readers to download. This could be anywhere from a day to two weeks, depending on the marketplace.

How to open Viewer from other apps? - App 'URL Scheme' has disappeared from Viewer Builder!

The 'URL Scheme' option in the Viewer Builder did let me to specify a url that made other apps open my viewer. But this option has disappeared from the newer version of Viewer Builder. So. How do I do now to let other apps open my viewer?

Is there a spacial reason that the URL scheme option was taken away from ordinary Multi-issue viewers? It was there in earlier version. I'll explain our situation:
Our client want to publish corporate information; annual reports etc, with DPS. Not really magazines or newspapers you subscribe to.
We are making another app where they publish news articles, videos etc. In that app, we want to have a link which opens the viewer with their publications.
To make this simple thing work, we have to create a 'subscription' to content which is not relly good for subscribing (it is free and announced with push anyway). We also have to tell the client to create Privacy Policys etc for this. A lot of hassle for something we do not really want.
Any chance that this option will come back in v19?

How can I remove the Iphone OS passcode?

A hand full of IPhone users were initally allowed on our Active Exchange Sync server. Now one of these users phone is one failure away from "remote wipe". The user does not want to lose personal data, which has now been mingled in with corporate information. I have Iphone users asking for access to corporate mail on a daily basis. In part due to the brillaint marketing caampain surronding the iphone and its stunning features. Although we have felt a lot of pressure to roll Active Exchange Syn out to these end users We simply can not allow for this until there is a sound way to recover from lock outs. I would perfer suggestions that are covered under warranty and supported by Apple and thier EULA.

Assuming the user the user account is enabled and the Iphone is setup properly an administrator can enforce password length (greater than 4 digits - 6 in our testing), choose aplha numeric options (seemingly non-functional), plus enable remote wipe and number of failed attempts. The phone inherits these properties when it authenticates to the Exchange Server. So if a phone is locked out it will not authenticate to server and receive new password. I can do this with Blackberry Enterprise Server and I am not interested in debating it's usefulness. I am simply looking for a similar function for the Iphone. Then the powers at be will allow the Iphone on our Active Exchange Server and the towns folk will rejoice.
So Ideally I would an Active Sync add on/feature that can:
1. Use Active Sync to change password complexity
2. Set a default OS password (1234),
3. Force the user to change their password at login.
4. Re-apply password complexity as needed.
OR:
be pointed to a tool that could do the same on an individual Iphone which is not a Jailbreak or a breach of Apples ELUA.

Free subscription, but not in Newsstand?

I have just successfully managed to make a subscription viewer with a free subscription, entered all info on Itunes Connect etc, but now I see this message on iTunes connect:
Your first free In-App Purchase subscription(s) must be submitted with a new app version that is enabled for Newsstand. After enabling your app version for Newsstand, select your free subscription(s) from the In-App Purchases section of the Version Details page and then click Ready to Upload Binary.
Does this mean what I fear - that if I make a free subscription Viewer, it MUST go into Newsstand? We want to stay out of Newsstand, since the content is not a periodical, but corporate information. I didn't specify Newsstand info in the Viewer builder, and the development viewer appears outside of Newsstand, so I guess that the viewer is ok. But will Apple reject the app?

Hi,
The big difference when designing for OLAP versus OLTP is rooted in the basics of how the tables are going to be used. I'll discuss OLTP versus OLAP in context to the design of dimensional data warehouses. However, keep in mind there are more architectural components that make up a mature, best practices data warehouse than just the dimensional data warehouse.

With OLTP, the tables are designed to facilitate fast inserting, updating and deleting rows of information with each logical unit of work. The database design is highly normalized. Usually and at least to 3NF. Each logical unit of work in an online application will have a relatively small scope with regard to the number of tables that are referenced and/or updated. Also the online application itself handles the majority of the work for joining data to facilitate the screen functions. This means the user doesn't have to worry about traversing across large data relationship paths. A heavy dose of lookup/reference tables and much focus on referential integrity between foreign keys. The physical design of the database needs to take into considerations the need for inserting rows when deciding on physical space settings. A good book for getting a solid base understanding of modeling for OLTP is The Data Modeling Handbook: A Best-Practice Approach to Building Quality Data Models by Michael C. Reingruber, William W. Gregory.
Example: Let's say we have a purchase oder management system. We need to be able to take orders for our customers, and we need to be able to sell many items on each order. We need to capture the store that sold the item, the customer that bought the item (and where we need to ship things and where to bill) and we need to make sure that we pull from the valid store_items to get the correct item number, description and price. Our OLTP data model will contain a CUSTOMER_MASTER, A CUSTOMER_ADDRESS_MASTER, A STORE_MASTER, AN ITEM_MASTER, AN ITEM_PRICE_MASTER, A PURCHASE_ORDER_MASTER AND A PURCHASE_ORDER_LINE_ITEM table. Then we might have a series of M:M relationships for example. An ITEM might have a different price for specific time periods for specific stores.
With OLAP, the tables are designed to facilitate easy access to information. Today's OLAP tools make the job of developing a query very easy. However, you still want to minimize the extensiveness of the relational model in an OLAP application. Users don't have the wills and means to learn how to work through a complex maze of table relationships. So you'll design your tables with a high degree of denormalization. The most prevalent design scheme for OLAP is the Star-Schema, popularized by Ralph Kimball. The star schema has a FACT table that contains the elements of data that are used arithmatically (counting, summing, averaging, etc.) The FACT Table is surrounded by lookup tables called Dimensions. Each Dimension table provides a reference to those things that you want to analyze by. A good book to understand how to design OLAP solutions is The Data Warehouse Toolkit: Practical Techniques for Building Dimensional Data Warehouses by Ralph Kimball.
Example: let's say we want to see some key measures about purchases. We want to know how many items and the sales amount that are purchased by what kind of customer across which stores. The FACT table will contain a column for Qty-purchased and Purchase Amount. The DIMENSION tables will include the ITEM_DESC (contains the item_id & Description), the CUSTOMER_TYPE, the STORE (Store_id & store name), and TIME (contains calendar information such as the date, the month_end_date, quarter_end_date, day_of_week, etc).

HT5493 Java update and reverting to 1.6 plug in.

Good afternoon.
After installing the java update this week I've realised it makes my Macbook useless for work. I regularly rely on a Corporate Information System at my University to access student records. This system is incompatible with Java 7, upon installing the update it directs me to install the plug in from Oracle (for which only java 7 is available) When trying to access the system it comes up with the following error, "requires jinitiator 1.1.8.2 or higher" Which I assume is a change between Java 6 and 7.
Spent a long time with the Universities tech support who couldn't help only to confirm that Java 7 is not supported (and even directed me to several .exe windows programs to update jinitiator, as well as to some malware). Apple Tech suport had no solution to the problem either other than to time machine back to before the update.
I have now used time machine to restore to prior to the update (which took 48 hours for 300GB!!!!!)
So ideally I would like to install the update (for various reasons, including security) but still have access to University system.
Can anyone provide any advice how I can do so?
Alternatively I suppose I will have to avoid this update, but I assume it is forever going to remind me. If that is the case then is there a way to permanently tell my macbook to ignore this update?

It doesn't sound like you can. If this is a web-based Java applet, there is no Java 6 applet plug-in anymore. Apple has removed it in this update, so you have no choice but to use Java 7 for web applets. If it is not a web applet, rolling back should work fine, but the system may be incompatible with the changes in the latest version of Java 6 as well. If you can't use the latest versions of Java, you will be forced to use a version of Java that is not only vulnerable to attack, but that the hackers of the world have now gotten a road map to (in the form of the update). Just because a vulnerability is patched does not mean that it stops being exploited... many vulnerabilities continue to be exploited for years, due to people who are unable or unwilling to install security updates.
Honestly, you shouldn't have to be forced to compromise the security of your system to use this software. You need to speak to people at your university at a higher level than just the techs, and explain to them how this system is compromising both university security and the individual security of every person who uses it. Scare them, and they'll light a fire under the techs to get this fixed.
