Correct Blackberry password is not accepted and it shows what I'm typing instead of masking it with asterisks!

I'm locked out of my Blackberry again because it appears to be malfunctioning.  When I type the password, it shows what I'm typing, instead of masking it with asterisks, and reverts to the alphabet unless I press Alt+ the key.  Even when I carefully enter the correct password, it always says it's wrong.  I have 2 or 3 tries left.  Last time this happened a few months ago, it ended up wiping everything.  I would like to avoid losing some valuable audio files that are stored only on the phone.  Thanks!

I think you have a couple misconceptions about BlackBerry device passwords.
1. When you have entered the password incorrectly about five times, the ****** mask will show you the actual characters you are entering with the intent to help you see what you're entering.
2. Often users who have multiple numerals in their password will only press the ALT key for the first numeral and not those following, so for instance, if your password were "1234", you might have been pressing "Alt 1234" on the device, which makes the actual password to be "1ers".
Does that make sense? Does it sound familiar to your usage? So check the way you enter your password on the device... do you think you are entering multiple numbers but actually are not?

  • Although the "hint" for my administrative password is correct, my password is not accepted. I don't understand as the hint is very specific

I suddenly have a problem with my Macbook Pro.. Despite the fact that the "hint" for the administrative password is very specific AND correct, when I put in the password that I have always used, I am sent a message that it is incorrect.  This is the password used for updates and it's driving me crazy that it is not changed but not accepted.

Check that caps lock is not on. If it isn't, proceed as below.
If the user account is associated with an Apple ID, and you know that account password, the Apple ID can be used to reset your user account password.
Otherwise, boot into Recovery by holding down the key combination command-R at startup. Release the keys when you see a gray screen with a spinning dial.
When the OS X Utilities screen appears, select Utilities ▹ Terminal from the menu bar.
In the Terminal window, type this:
    resetpassword
That's one word with no spaces. Then press return. A Reset Password window opens.
Select your boot volume if not already selected.
Select your username from the menu labeled Select the user account if not already selected.
Follow the prompts to reset the password. It's safest to choose a password that includes only the characters a-z, A-Z, and 0-9.
Select  ▹ Restart from the menu bar.
You should now be able to log in with the new password, but you won't be able to unlock the Keychain. If you've forgotten the Keychain password (which is ordinarily the same as your login password), there's no way to recover it. You’ll need to reset your keychain in the preferences of the Keychain Access application.

  • Ask for password, but not accept, and how to chang...

    Hi!
I tried to switch from my old e-mail adress to my new, because the older is not alive anymore (delete back in 2010), and I want to switch to the new, but then, Skype asks for my password, and I give it, but always returns with a not correct password error. What can I do?

I'm afraid that you may be confusing two different 'passwords' - there's your Apple ID (the user name and password that you used to get into these forums) and then there's your computer user name and password - usually two seperate user names and passwords.
If you want to change your password for your user account on your computer, go to System Preferences>Users & Groups and unlock the preference pane. Then you can select your user name and change your password there. Changing a user name is a bit complex and I don't think you want to try that!

  • Am prompted to authorize iTunes account in order to play music, however passwords are not accepted and when I try to recover password, I am told that the Apple ID does not exist. How do I get my songs to play?

Hi everybody, I just recently upgraded my laptop and now can't play my music anymore. I bought the music years ago on an Apple ID that I haven't used for a while and even though I have a password written down, it doesn't seem to be the correct one. Furthermore, when I try to reset the password and send an e-mail to this old Apple ID, I don't receive anything and thus cannot even reset the passwort. Lastly, neither my, nor my mother's birthdate will work for security questions in order to reset the passwort. I really don't care about the account, I just want to get my music back! So if anybody either knows how to (re?)activate this Apple ID OR how to get my music playable both on my laptop as also on my other Apple devices without having to deal with this old Apple ID, I'd be super thankful for any help or tips!

  • Blackberry Classic Will Not Accept Correct Password

My Blackberry Classic would not accept my password. The same password I have been using for months. It said it would wipe the data after 8 tries and that I was on my 5th try. However, no matter how many times I inputted my password, it stayed at 5 tries. I tried several attempts at cycling power, completing a back-up and restore, I tried the resetting the password from Blackberry protect website and all with no avail. I even did an OS upgrade with no luck! Ultimately, I had to wipe the phone and start over with a restore. I felt lucky I was able to back up the device prior to wiping it.
I would hope blackberry would see this as a critical issue and get a patch out to address it.  Major pain in the butt!

    Hi there,
Not sure if this will help you however I had similar issues recently connecting my iBook G3 Clamshell to my wireless network. I ended up changing the settings on my router from 802.11 b/g/n to 802.11 b/g & it connects perfectly (via WPA) now.
    Good luck.

i'm setting up my new ipad air and it's asking for id and password, but not accepting it. help me

If it is asking for an APlle ID password for an ID you do not recognize then you have stumbled upon the Activation Lock feature of IOS7.

Trying to install Adobe Flash Player my Adobe ID and Password is not accepted. I changed it several times, without success. What's the problem?

You don't need an Adobe ID or password to install Flash Player, but you may need to provide your system's Administrator password during the installation.

  • BB Z10 - password is not accepted

    Hello
I have been trying to login to the BB world but my password is not accepted. Already tried several times to reset the password and the new one is not acceted too.
Please, tell me what can i do because it's 9/10 tries
    thanks!

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
Please see this "sticky" post for helpful information concerning your BBID situation:
    http://supportforums.blackberry.com/t5/BlackBerry-World/How-to-regain-access-to-your-BBID/td-p/25467...
Hopefully, this information will be of use to you. Given your situation, I suspect you cannot get past this without human intervention (which is discussed in that post)...all of the automated recovery methods require either the correct security question response or that the BBID already have been validated, which is the step you are actually now on. Hence, I doubt that the automated recovery methods will work for you.
    Cheers, and Good Luck!

If you mean that Find My Phone is asking for a password to a different Apple ID to your current Apple ID.
This feature has been introduced to make stolen phones useless to those that have stolen them.
However it can also arise when the user has changed their Apple ID details with Apple and not made the same changes to their iCloud account/Find My Phone on their device before upgrading to iOS 7, or if you restore from a previous back up made before you changed your details.
The only solution is to change your Apple ID back to its previous state with Apple at My Apple ID using your current password, you don’t need access to this address if it’s previously been used with your Apple ID, once you have saved these details enter the password as requested on your device and then turn off "find my phone" and delete the account from your device.
You should then change your Apple ID back to its current state, save it once again and then log back in using your current Apple ID. Finally, turn "find my phone" back on once again.

  • I have OS X 10.8.5 trying to upgrade. Have downloaded latest OS X Maverick but to install I am prompted for the Admin Password. I don't believe one was ever set up. I have tried my Apple Id Password but not accepted, Advice appreciated.

My system is Mac HD OX S 10.8.5. I want to upgrade 10.9.1 and have downloaded it. However, to install it I am prompted for the Admin Password. I don't believe one was ever set up. I have tried my Apple Id Password but not accepted, Advice appreciated?

If you have 10.8.5 you don't have a PowerPC Mac (PPC).  PPC is for pre-2006 Macs.   Go to Apple menu -> About This Mac to make sure you have an Intel Mac and that you didn't flip the 5 and 8 in your operating system indication.  If you actually have 10.5.8 but you have Intel it gets a lot more complicated to install 10.9.
10.5.8 is the maximum for PowerPC.
10.6 can be upgraded on Intel with this tip:
    https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-2455
And it also help you get up to 10.6.6 or 10.6.8 as needed.
    https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-6271
will help someone with 10.5.8 determine if they are ready to jump to 10.7 or later.
If you have 10.8.5, you must install 10.9.0 first (free from the Mac App Store) to get to 10.9.1.
    Backup your data:
    https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-1992
and check http://www.roaringapps.com/ and your printer, scanner, and peripheral  drivers are compatible with third party vendors before upgrading to 10.9.

Can not access home network via ipod touch, password entered not accepted
Trying to help my son set up his ipod touch to connect to the network and the password I entered is not accepted.
    1. Which password is required? I entered the password I use for logging into my router
    2. The home network is recognized, when selected it requires a password to be entered, but I am just not sure what password it is looking for to connect.
I have not been able to find any information on this subject

jersey0904, Welcome to the discussion area!
You need to enter the wireless encryption password... not the administrative password for the router.
