Correct CS4 Installation Path?
I noticed during install that the default install path is c:\program files\adobe. I have a 64bit system and normally this is the correct path for all 64bit apps, but not all of the CS4 apps are 64bit. For 32 bit apps it is c:\program files (x86)\adobe. So is the default path wrong or right?

Photoshop CS4 installation path problem
i having installation problem after i restore my pc, where i have install it normally before window restore. after install it doesnt work at all.
It set the installation path to common files folder, i have try uninstall all and reinstall it but still cannot modify the installation path.
Please tell me how to fix it?By Fresh install i mean that Uninstall the existing Photoshop CS4 application through Windows Add/Remove Programs and install again through the Photoshop CS4 installer.Do inform if this works for you.

Any estimate/date when the new Premiere CS4 installer to support Red's camera build v20 will be out?
The new Red API is released and just a matter of Adobe integrating. (FCP already has released it!)

I've spoken to the developer at Red who is indicating the release date is dependant on Adobe.
Now whether that suggests acceptance/integration testing (or development) by Adobe, I assume Adobe is on the critical path for the release this plugin...hence question. any further information greatly appreciated.

edit: cheers Curt. The v20 plugin deals with noise, particularly in low light tungsten scenes which starves the blue channel of any signal, hence the noise.
Red say 20% of the corrected code in the camera firmware (build v20) and 80% is in their software API which has been since released in other Red products and Final Cut.
Makes a huge difference in picture quality so great to see it in Premiere. -
How can I change the installation path of JWS?
I have to install the JRE 1.4.0_01 in silent mode on Windows XP. For the JRE I can set the installation path in the corresponding dialog and record it in an *.iss file. When starting the silent installation the JRE is correctly installed into this path but the Java Webstart installation procedure doesn't care about this path and installs JWS in 'D:\Programme\Java Web Start'.
How can I change the installation path for JWS?

Premiere Pro CS4 Installation Failed - Again!
Hi all
We are currently using an old version of Adobe Premiere which I would like to upgrade to the latest version. I want to show everyone in the company how good the latest version is and get them to pay for an upgrade/full version.
I then noticed a free trial download for Adobe Premiere Pro CS4 and thought great idea. Well done Adobe I can now show everyone how good the latest CS4 version is.
5 days later I still can not get the damn thing to install and work!! :-(
In a desperate move I even tried it on a new Windows XP Pro SP3 - 3Gb RAM - Quad Core - 1Tb HD etc.. and when I try and install the Premiere windows 1.3Gb trial installation it eventually says at the end of the installation process (which takes for ever) "Installation Failed - One or more required components of Adobe Premiere Pro CS4 failed to install correctly." and it shows the following error log:

Over the last 5 days I have looked through this forum site and tried every recommendation it suggests to fix the problem including:
1) Uninstalling / Re-installing serveral times the Adobe Premiere Pro CS4 which eventually comes up with the above error.
2) Turned off all Anti-Virus applications and disabled all running windows applications.
3) I have also tried the WinCS4Cleanupscript process
4) Manually deleted and removed the premiere folders
5) I even rang up adobes technical support line and they said use the forums to solve the problem. Cushy job they have...
None of the above fix the problem...
So here I am. Has anyone got any ideas how to make it run up in trial mode ?
Your help and advice would be greatly appreciated as I suspect im not the only one having this problem.Day 8 - OK I have finally fixed the problem. I got fed up and purchased the full Adobe Premiere Pro CS4 product and it installed and worked 1st time!!!
I must admit im very annoyed that the Trial version failed but the full product works. The 2 x Premiere Pro CS4 installation CDs went through the installation process without a hitch and I did not get any installation error messages at all.
So my no 1 question is why does the online Adobe Premiere CS4 Trial version fail to install but the full product can ?
For what its worth, here are my final observations from this whole saga:
1) The first thing I noticed on the Full Product CD Installation is it defaulted to and installed the "en_International" version and not the "en_US" language version. For some reason the online trial version defaulted to "en_US" language and I used this option during the trial installations. Maybe this language option upsets the installation process on my UK PC.
Now I have it working im not going to risk re-installing it all again. But if your a UK user and you encounter problems during the trial installation process then try selecting the "en_International" language option. You never know.
2) Another obvious observation is the trial version has numerous features removed and hacked out of it So did the Adobe engineer get carried away with the hacking process and also remove some important installation code and procedures.
After several days of trying to get the trial version to work there is obviously a problem with the trial installation process and it needs looking at. I must of installed and reinstalled it 15+ times and during this time it upset my Dreamweaver CS4 app so forcing me to re-install this application as well.
Please Adobe just give the online users the option of 2 x CD ISO Images to download and burn onto a CD as this could save other users the same frustrating time I have had and maybe give you more revenue. -
Dreamweaver CS4 Installation Fails after 95% installed

I am just so fed up with trying so many re installations of Dreamweaver CS4 in my sony vaio.
I just booted up in simplified mode, turned off Mcafee,windows firewall,used windows cleanup script,adobe cleanup script.After all I am getting the same error s below one.please help me in clearing this problem.

Please help me, I am crying here for past 10days.This is a trail varsion of adobe dreamweaver cs4 from adobe website!!!!!!!I would like to know if we need to stop Mcafee real time scanner during Dreamweaver CS4 installation.
It's always a good idea to turn off antivirus scanning when installing a program.
I am installing English version of Dreamweaver in my German Vista home premium.Will there be any possible problem for this?
There is a single installation program for all languages. Choosing an English installation on a non-English operating system should work, but it might create problems if your operating system uses accented characters, such as umlauts, in file and folder names. -
How do you modify default installation path?
In the previous versions of AAMEE there was an option to change the default pathway for installation.
I d onot see this option in AAMEE 3.0
How can I modify the installation path? All my installs are usually done on a secondary HDD.
Also, there is an option to install only InDesign 64bit and Illustrator 64bit versions instead of installing both but I have not seen an option to install only Bridge 64bit. Can this be surpressed?

I was trying to install Creative Suite Standard (CS4) onto a PowerPC G5 Mac and there was a power cut in the middle of the installation.
I have since unsuccessfully tried to install the software again on numerous occasions getting the following errors.
I have tried all of the following steps:
1. Running the clean script utility (which does find an installation each time to remove)
2. Installing in safe-mode
3. Installing on a new user account
4. Force quitting all unnecessary processes using the Activity Monitor
Interestingly each time I try to reinstall after the error I don't get prompted for a serial number so it makes me think that there are some installation files floating around even though the clean script has been run.
I know I can reinstall the system software (OSX 10.4.11) and see if that works but don't want to go down that path if there is something else I can do to solve the problem.
If anyone has got any thoughts or if there is a method to manually remove all the previous install files I would greatly appreciate any information.
Regards, LloydDay 8 - OK I have finally fixed the problem. I got fed up and purchased the full Adobe Premiere Pro CS4 product and it installed and worked 1st time!!!
I must admit im very annoyed that the Trial version failed but the full product works. The 2 x Premiere Pro CS4 installation CDs went through the installation process without a hitch and I did not get any installation error messages at all.
So my no 1 question is why does the online Adobe Premiere CS4 Trial version fail to install but the full product can ?
For what its worth, here are my final observations from this whole saga:
1) The first thing I noticed on the Full Product CD Installation is it defaulted to and installed the "en_International" version and not the "en_US" language version. For some reason the online trial version defaulted to "en_US" language and I used this option during the trial installations. Maybe this language option upsets the installation process on my UK PC.
Now I have it working im not going to risk re-installing it all again. But if your a UK user and you encounter problems during the trial installation process then try selecting the "en_International" language option. You never know.
2) Another obvious observation is the trial version has numerous features removed and hacked out of it So did the Adobe engineer get carried away with the hacking process and also remove some important installation code and procedures.
After several days of trying to get the trial version to work there is obviously a problem with the trial installation process and it needs looking at. I must of installed and reinstalled it 15+ times and during this time it upset my Dreamweaver CS4 app so forcing me to re-install this application as well.
Please Adobe just give the online users the option of 2 x CD ISO Images to download and burn onto a CD as this could save other users the same frustrating time I have had and maybe give you more revenue. -
My utilities folder, including such stuff as Keychain Access, System Profiler, Bluetooth, Netinfo Manager etc. was wiped out by Adobe's utility folder which is also called "utilities." Bad bad bad. I always back up everything in case a new installation goes bad so I was able to recover everything. I'm curious as to which other installation problems people have run into.

As I said before I backed up my entire system as I usually do before installing anything at all so I was able to retrieve the missing utilities.
Right after finishing my upgrade from the first CS I tried pressing on the "more info" button on the "about this mac" pulldown but it was greyed out. I also tried launching keychain and that didn't work either. I clicked on the dock icon & pressed "show in finder" but there was no response. I then went directly to the "Utilities" folder and found nothing but the adobe utilities. I didn't touch or move anything after installing CS4 so I'm puzzled as to why my adobe utilities folder was installed as "utilities."
I'll hazard a guess. When I bought CS (the very 1st version) I had moved my CS applications into a CS folder I had created, instead of leaving them in the root applications folder where they had originally been installed.
Furthermore prior to my purchase and installation of CS4 I had been running Photoshop CS3 trial and the application and components were also moved into a CS3 folder which I had created. I did have the sense to use the CS3 uninstaller before my installation of CS4. Perhaps my moving CS1 and the trial CS3 into different folders messed with the CS4 installation, creating path problems etc. Well I certainly won''t be moving around any Adobe applications any more.

Presets and editing mode XML files are loaded from the application-specific folders, not from the
common location. On Windows, the root path for Premiere Pro is in the registry at
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\App Paths\
Adobe Premiere Pro.exe. Then, just add the proper subdirectories.

I tried to organize my computer folders but must have moved a key folder for my iProducts because I can no longer sync. Does anyone know the correct windows xp path to put my documents folder in the right location so sync will function again?
Open iTunes, go to the Help, on the top menu bar. ITunes can rebuild the path to the iTunes files.

Thanks for any help!There is no fix. Flash Pro is not compatible with Win 8 even in CS6. There are dependencies with Flash Player components and the way it's handled in Win 8 prevents it from working liek the app expects.

Issues With CS4 Installation on Win 8?
I purchased CS4 (Web Premium) on disc several years ago, and it has been working fine on my Win XP computer ever since. The Adobe software has all the current updates, though I am using the CS4 version of Acrobat Pro (9.xx) rather than a more recent (free) version of Reader.,
Unfortunately, my computer's hard drive has fried, and I just purchased a new Windows 8 machine, which will arrive shortly. I am trying to determine:
1. Are there any general issues with CS4 installation on Win 8 that I should know about in advance?
2. Are there specific procedures (de-activation?) that I need to follow BEFORE attempting the installation on the new computer?
3. Other than specific user issues, are there problems with CS4 versus Windows 8 that I would not encounter with Windows 7.
I enhance photos and create web sites for a living, so the CS4 installation is mission-critical. I am hoping I did not make a mistake in ordering a Win 8 machine...

As for de-activation of the previous installation on the XP machine, that is now impossible, as the hard-drive is fried. Unless there is a way to de-activate an installation some other way (without actually opening the programs). That said, I AM able to access files on the fried harddrive, so if there is a specific file that controls de-activation, I could access it on the old machine. However, I may not be able to actually RUN said file on that machine, but can copy it to a stick and move it elsewhere. So, any thoughts on deactivation of an installation on a deceased computer? -

Problem: "Application Not Found" CS4 installation error
Some Adobe Creative Suite CS4 Production Premium distribution disks issue an "Application not found" error while loading Disk 2 due to an error in the Autorun.inf file.
Does your Autorun.inf for Disk 2, 3, or 4 contain
[autorun]
open=Autoplay.exe -auto
icon=\csppdvd.ico
Autorun.inf should instead only say
[autorun]
icon=\csppdvd.ico
There should not be the line
open=Autoplay.exe auto
Only Disk 1 should have this line.
On Disk 1, Adobe has a file called Autoplay.exe which starts the installation.
"open=Autoplay.exe auto" runs the Autoplay application.
Autoplay.exe is not on Disk 2, 3, or 4 so having the open line generates the error.
Since you cannot edit the DVD, the trick is to turn off autorun so Windows doesn't run Autorun.inf upon loading Disk 2. Look at the Wikipedia description of "Autorun" for details. Wikipedia describes how to disable Autorun using
Start -> Run -> gpedit.msc
You will need to do this for XP. Vista has a Control Panel which allows you to "Take no action" for "Software and games". If this does not work, use gpedit.msc instead. You will know Autorun is off if upon inserting Disk 1, no installation window appears.
Wikipedia notes that "AutoPlay is the name of a different feature in Microsoft Windows" not to be confused with Autorun starting the Autorun.inf file.
Now that Autorun is off, manually double click Autoplay.exe on Disk 1 to start the installation. Disk 2 should now load properly.
By the way, it appears you cannot teach an old dog new tricks. Some Adobe Creative Suite CS3 Production Premium distribution disks had the same problem. Obviously, Adobe did not learn from their past mistake.
You may want to call Adobe to obtain replacement disks which don't have this error.

Has anybody had success implementing iPhoto on a Drobo (FS)? I have had good luck with iTunes on the Drobo and now want to use the Drobo for iPhoto. Thanks Gary
