  • HT5717 Our company had to remove this Java for OS  2013-004 upgrade because it broke all of our Java installers. Does anyone know when Apple will solve this new problem?

    Hi,
    People at our company installed the latest Java for OSX 2013-004 1.0 Apple Update and all of our software installers failed to run anymore. The only way to kill the installer was Apple Menu -> Force Quit after that. We all had to downgrade to Java for OSX 2013-003 to work.

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
    I have heard problems with that update. Unfortunately, we don't know when an update will be available. Apple often releases Java updates at the same time as Oracle, but we don't know more things

  • Java 2013-003 Update causing issues

    I own several Mac's; one Macbook and two iMacs, each with different versions of OS X and after installing the 2013-003 update I'm having major issues with Java. In fact since Apple decided they didn't want Java running on their OS's and in their browsers, I've had numerous problems.
    Today I was forced to install the 2013-003 update and when I try to run a website I use which requires Java, all I'm seeing is this message:
    Use the Software Update feature (available on the Apple menu) to check that you have the most up-to-date version of Java for your Mac.
    Clearly I've updated to the latest version and I've even tried installing the most up to date version of Java from Oracle's website yet I'm still having the same issue. I love my Apple computers but I'm getting really sick of the constant Java issues.
    Any ideas what's going on?
    Thanks.

    Would like to know the answer to this too.

  • HT1222 Weird security update Java for OS X 2013-003

    Why is the security update Java for OS X 2013-003 causing my 15" rMBP to start displaying a flashing window asking me if I want to allow the application "java" to accept incoming network connections?
    OS X 10.8.3

    It appears that these errors are arising because:
    Oracle Java has been installed on your system,
    there is some add-on code that is running, and that is using Oracle Java components,
    the add-on code is attempting to initiate network connections,
    and the Oracle Java connections are failing.
    Basically, there is Oracle Java code running here somewhere — code which is not part of OS X, as OS X 10.7 and later do not include Oracle Java by default — and this (unknown) code is using Oracle Java and the Java Virtual Machine (JVM), and the code is encountering some new "defensive' measures.  Or is encountering an Oracle Java bug, which would be an Oracle issue with their Oracle Java product.
    Y'all have to figure out what code is running here (and that is dependent on Oracle Java and the JVM), and if the code is expected and necessary here, to then work with the vendor to resolve the behavior here and/or upgrade to the provider's current version of the software.
    Based on the DDService64d reference, there appears to be Drobo software here, and some Drobo software apparently requires Java and the JVM.  Here is some information from Drobo.  (There's a recommendation there to disable Gatekeeper, and — while that likely does resolve the issues referenced — I'd prefer to avoid disabling Gatekeeper in general.)
    Again, figure out what's installed and using Java here.  Remove it, upgrade it, or check with the vendor.
    Oracle Java does have a recent history of various serious security issues, and it's common practice to disable the Oracle Java web-start plug-in, or to entirely avoid installing Oracle Java on OS X on 10.7 and later.  If you're not using and don't need Oracle Java, then don't install it.   If you've previously installed Oracle Java and don't need it (as is the case on OS X 10.7 and later), reportedly Oracle has a tool which can remove Oracle Java.
    note: Oracle Java is completely different from JavaScript.

  • Hello. After this update(Java for OS X 2013-003) stop working Ps3 media server. How to fix it?

    Hello. After this update(Java for OS X 2013-003) stop working Ps3 media server. How to fix it?

    I fix it. I restored the contents of /System/Library/Java/JavaVirtualMachines with the contents found in my latest TimeMachine backup from before the update, PMS works like  again. Something in the latest Java update does break the PS3 mediaserver.

  • HT5682 Java for OS X 2013-003)

    I rand the update Java for OS X 2013-003 and then java.com updated my imac to java 7 update/release 25 (per java.com this is the latest for mac). Now Safari is not happy, in laymen's terms, Java functionality does not work in Safari now. What to do?

    First see if all your Safari plugins are up-to-date. Next reset Safari. However beyond that it's tough to help when you don't complete a profile advising what version of OS X is installed, version of Safari or which iMac you have. If you don't know how to complete a profile please click Profile Update

  • Time Machine Disk borked after 2013-003 security update

    I installed the 2013-003 update on the weekend, and conincidentally my Time Machine disk is now locked.  I haven't installed anything else really, so this Security Update is the only change I've made in recent memory, which makes me think that it is the cause, or at least the exacerbating factor.
    Background: I have a 27" iMac 3.4GHz / 16 GB (iMac 12,2) with running Mountain Lion 10.8.4.  I have an external RAID array consisting of 2x 3 TB Seagate Barracudas in a Nexstar MX two-bay enclosure, with the enclosure hardware controlling the RAID.  This has worked more or less flawlessly since last fall -- that is until this update.   No raid errors from the enclosure -- as far as it knows the disks are in fine health.
    After restarting following the update, I get a message that the OS has locked the Time Machine disk (my aforementioned RAID array) -- so I can read data from it, but I can no longer write -- I can no longer make backups. It mounted the disk, and suggested I use disk first aid to fix it, so I do.
    Open Disk First aid, and set it to Verify.  I get some strange errors.  Don't take my word for it, here's the log:

    So since this, I can rarely mount the disk.  When I can, I cannot unlock it to back up to -- although if it's awful as it suggests, I don't think I want to.
    But, it all seems a little strange to me.  This is RAID, I shouldn't have these problems, no?  I mean, the disks are fine -- although if there was an error on the primary, enough time has passed that's been copied to the secondary by now, so I can't swap them.
    Has anyone else had an external disk go T/U after this update?  Is there some fix I'm missing?  I have a new external disk on order (with Thundebolt) so if I have to rebuild my back ups, it won't take as long as this guy over USB, but I don't want to forgo the versions of the files I have no going back some 2 years.
    Any insight?  Is my backup borked, making me start over new and lose my back up history?  Is there anyway I can recover this disk, outside of Disk First Aid / sending it to a data recovery place?  Even do you think if I rolled back this update (if that's even a thing) would it set me back on track?
    Thanks!

    I had the same issue after a re-build of mountain lion on an older Macbook pro.  I followed you link and instructions and it worked! Thanks wjosten

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
    Security Update 2013-003 is available for Snow Leopard, Lion and Mountain Lion. You can download the Snow Leopard version > http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1670
    You don't have enough space to install the update, so you have to delete things from the hard drive or move them to an external drive. See > http://thexlab.com/faqs/freeingspace.html

  • Correct version of Java SDK for Red Hat 4 ES on x86_64

    I need to install the Java SDK for Red Hat 4 ES on x86_64 and I'm unable to find the correct version to download.
    Note 716604 says to download 1.4.2_13 at java.sun.com but the I can't find the Linux x86_64 bit version.  Note 941595 is for Windows and Solaris only.
    Red Hat's site mentions two versions; java-1.4.2-ibm and java-1.4.2-bea.  I cannot find any SAP notes that mention those names.  Has anyone used these successfully on Red Hat 4 x86_64?
    Does anyone know where I can download the correct version of Java SDK?

  • HT201366 Security Update 2013-003 keeps failing to install - 'Unexpected Error occurred' - and now my MacBook Pro is running extremely slowly?

    I have repeatedly tried to update the software 'Security Update 2013-003' on my MacBook Pro OS X Version 10.7.5 but it keeps failing to install, stating that 'an Unexpected Error Occurred'.
    Since the update failed the first time, my MacBook Pro has been running extremely slowly and failing to open basic apps like Mail and Safari at times.
    All other updates have been successful apart from this one. I have made sure that my MacBook isn't full (emptied Trash etc) but it still runs really slowly at times so I think it's linked with the Security Update failure.
    Please help!
    *I have tried installing the update from Support Downloads but it says there isn't space on Macintosh to install it. There is 190 GB of free space on that disk so I don't understand that at all.
    LION system.

    I have tried and it downloads successfully but when I install it, it comes up with this:

  • HT1222 After installing 2013-003, my computer is now incredibly unresponsive

    A couple days ago my software update ran and found the 2013-003 Security update.  I installed and rebooted and as soon as I came back up my internet connection sucked (I thought). So i played with my router and modem - nothing fixed it.  Then i went to launch Lightroom  and it just hung - never came up. I had to force kill it from the stuck state.  So i tried to open a picture in preview - that took about 8-10 seconds to open.   I have tried to reboot again, but my programs continue to be borderline unresponsive and shockwave continually becomes unresponsive as well.   Anyone else having these issues?  is there a way to back off this update?
    I have an iMac with 4gb Ram and OSX 10.6.8.  I was working fine for hours before i did this upgrade, and have been struggling ever since.

    How much free space on the startup disk?
    Control click the MacintoshHD icon on your Desktop then click Get Info.
    In the Get Info panel you will see:
    Capacity & Available
    Make sure there's at least 15% free disk space.  Anything less can cause the problems you are describing.
    If it's not a disk space issue, the startup disk may need repairing.
    Launch Disk Utility located in HD > Applications > Utilities
    Select the startup disk on the left then select the First Aid tab.
    Click:  Verify Disk  (not Verify Disk Permissions)
    If repairs are necessary, insert your install disc.

  • Microsoft Access Not finding correct Linked SqlServer records

    Microsoft Access 2010 application is not returning the correct linked records from a SqlServer 2008 database.
    For simplicity on the Access side I have a query such as:
    column XYZ is defined on the SqlServer as Nvarchar(1);
    Select * from LinkedSqlTable where XYZ in ("D","F","X");
    However, it is returning records where XYZ = capital I or capital A only.
    If I run a similar query via Management Studio on SqlServer
    Select * from LinkedSqlTable where XYZ in ('D','F','X');
     then the correct D, F or X records are returned.
    I have tried using ... Trim(XYZ) in  ("D","F","X");
                                ...  trim(XYZ) = "D" or trim(XYZ) = "F" or trim(XYZ) = "X";
    and in a separate query I have grouped the records to verify the values I am looking for exist and do not have spaces or some special character attached in some way.
    I would appreciate any ideas.

     The solution was to setup unique indexes on the SqlServer side, relink the SqlServer table in Access (Link Manager) and the queries seem to be running as needed.   For some reason, copying the linked table to Access, instead of linking, then running
    the queries against those "downloaded" table seem to work just fine, even without setting up Primary keys.   As a review, using a Query window via SqlServer Mgt Studio one would set up the indexes as the following (notice a clustered index need all key
    fields not to be NULL before a clustered index can be setup.
      Alter Table DatabaseX.dbo.[TableX] Alter Column [Field1]   nvarchar(7) NOT NULL;
      Alter Table DatabaseX.dbo.[TableX] Alter Column [Field2]  nvarchar(2) NOT NULL;
      Alter Table DatabaseX.dbo.[TableX] Alter Column [Field3]  nvarchar(5) NOT NULL;
      Alter Table DatabaseX.dbo.[TableX] Add  CONSTRAINT PK_TableX
            PRIMARY KEY CLUSTERED ([Field1] Asc, [Field2] Asc, [Field3] Asc);
    An remember to relink the table on the Access side once this has been accomplished. Thanks for the help.

    My Mac also intermittently goes into Sleep mode, repeatedly, unprompted by me.  I suspect a connection between these two problems.
    I have tried deleting the /Library/Updates folder.  It hasn't helped.  The update still won't install, and my Mac won't shut down without my forcing the quit.
    Help please!

    Hi, I've just come accross the same problem... did you manage to get a resolution??
    Cheers, Chris.
