Correct me if I'm wrong, but this program is probably not for me
Now I have played with the Aperture demo for more than a week. The competitor combination in my opinion is Adobe Bridge and Adobe Photoshop CS2, which I already have. There are a few things that are slightly easier to do in Aperture, like rotating according to a grid (instead of using the measure tool in PS) and some of the adjustments to RAW pictures (in my case Nikon D50 NEF). But is that it?
I have not found anything in Aperture which I both desperately need, and which I could not do in PS. Is that because I have not looked hard enough?
And then there is the speed problem. Aperture runs at an acceptable speed on my Mac, but Adobe is much faster. I cannot really excuse the lost time, as I do not see much of added value.
I read the reviews of Aperture 1.0 at http://arstechnica.com/reviews/apps/aperture.ars/1 , http://www.luminous-landscape.com/reviews/software/aperture-none.shtml and http://www.creativepro.com/story/review/23756.html . Does anyone know of any more recent review which says clearly "If you already have Adobe CS2 and buy Aperture, you get the following additional vital functionality..."?

not really. Aperture is non-destructive Photoshop destroys pixel data. Aperture's h&s filter in combination with Levels is powerful. no need to make an Adjustment Layer.

Photoshop destroys the pixel information once you apply a sharpening filter. if you use the HighPass filter to sharpen in PS it will not destroy pixel data but then the file size goes up (doubles in size because you would have to duplicate the layer).
a photographer not used to computer editing cannot hit the ground running editing with Photoshop it has a huge, mega, supersized, make it a double -- learning curve. Apple was very smart by using old school photography terms a photographer already understands so coming out of the organic darkroom he/she can hit the ground editing using Aperture.

I meant to say palettes and windows. i do not know about you but i'm sick of the window/palette rich Adobe applications that highjack the screen real estate with clutter, some windows are not resizable, cover your artwork, open other windows on top of windows, blech!
During the photo adjustment process Aperture has maybe 1 window (the HUD) count it ONE, no más UNO. the interface is always clean, calorie & clutter free

a couple of ways to use these, in Aperture's Project Panel select All Images, now hit the L key (moves forward), k to stop, j moves reverse (the more you depress the key the faster the scrolling, slow it down by depressing the opposite key.
go to Full screen mode with Filmstrip up now hit the L key (moves forward), k to stop, j moves reverse, cool ya?

I had purchased an iPhone 5 last month and got the OS updated to iOS 7, yesterday.
The data cable was of very bad quality and when I took it to the retailer for replacement, they said that its not covered under the one year warranty.
Secondly, I have also been experiencing network coverage issues with this phone. So, I decided to contact apple care through the web. When entering my serial number/IMEI it says, "We're sorry, but this is a serial number for a product that has been replaced. Please check your information and re-enter your serial number. If your information is correct, you may need to contact us."
Does anybody have any idea what the reason behind this could be.

What's going on with iCloud (MobileMe)? I'm able to sign in here, but I can't access mail on my Macbook Pro, iPhone, or work computer. I always get an authorization error (user-id or passwork wrong). This has been going on for almost a week now.
The single download means that you won't be able to redownload it from the store without paying, either on a computer's iTunes or an iOS device - it doesn't stop you from copying the audiobook to your other computers or syncing it to your iOS devices, you just can't redownload it. (I believe that they are all supplied to Apple by audible.com, so I assume that it's them requiring the one-time download.)
You can download audiobooks on your computer's iTunes and sync them to iOS devices, you do not have to buy them directly on the device (if you do then you can copy them back to your computer's iTunes library by connecting the device and using the File > Devices > Transfer Purchases menu option on your computer's iTunes).
What you are doing to sync them should work i.e.
- connecting the iPad to your Mac
- selecting the iPad on your Mac's iTunes
- selecting its Books tab and selecting the audiobooks that you want to sync to the iPad and syncing/applying that selection.
You should then get an audiobooks option in the Music app on your iPad. If they aren't appearing there then do they show in Settings > General > Usage > Music on the device - if you have audiobooks on the iPad then they should be listed there under an 'audiobooks' heading.
By 'restart the iPad' do you mean a soft-reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.
You could also try closing its Music app via the iPad's taskbar : Force an app to close in iOS.
And do a soft-reset and retry syncing.
I assume that music and other items sync ok ? -

can any one tell me what is that mean..... replace what ?In most cases, what you said is true...however, this is not always the case. Take myself for example...
1: I posted my phone online to sell
2: Someone saw my serial number and called AppleCare to get a replacement phone
3: An inferior AppleCare representative bypassed a component validation (check serial number to the device on hand) and approved the replacement under my AppleCare plan.
4: After noticing this (about 4 days after it happened) and a trip to Apple and a call to AppleCare, all was resolved. My phone is back to being covered under AppleCare+
5: I learned my lesson.
So, as you can see, there is a chance that it can be something else. Although, if the person selling the phone notices, it shouldn't take long to resolve it. Chances are that it is what you said.

Well, when you purchase from a non-official source you run the risk of getting who knows what from wherever. It appears this phone was replaced under warranty at some point, but not returned to Apple for refurbishment. Thus, the SN is no longer valid for warranty & service. If you can return it and get your money back, I'd suggest you do so. -

If you ask me, we have done similar project.
We are working on hobby project � our robot use J2ME cell phone as on-board brain.
And there is connection between this small robot and Linux-based PC.
Communication was done via BlueTooth (in reality we use Linux implementation of BlueTooth stack and obexftp).
BUT (!) We use Siemens S75 for this communication.
I�m afraid that Siemens is the only manufacture, which implemented serial communication over bluetooth, embedded camera and non-usb socket.
Also there are some Motorola phones, which implement serial communication over bluetooth.
But � note that all Motorola phones use USB sockets and it will not be easy for you to make connection between such a phone and the robot.
If you need just connection between cell phone and PC, then may be USB is OK too.

}One potential problem is that you're using a new reader around system.in every time. I don't know what happens when you do that. Just make it a member variable, or create it once in main and pass it to getString.
Asid from that, put a bunch of print statements in or use a debugger to see what's happening at each step of the way. You might be getting into an infinite loop somewhere in your reverse operation. -
Upgrading to CS6 returns: "This serial number is not for a qualifying product"
I have CS5 and have been using it for about 2 years. The Serial number for CS5 it is registered to my adobe id.
So i decided to upgrade to CS6 today. I then registered that to my adobe id as well.
When i open CS6 and enter my new serial number, it tells me:
Serial Number you provided is valid, but a qualifying product could not be found on this computer
Which is strange because CS5 is currently installed and running on this computer
So it then prompts me to select a previous product that I own and enter the serial number for that. So I select CS5 and enter the serial number for my CS5 license.
However, it then tells me: "This serial number is not for a qualifying product. Please try another"
But it doesn't tell may any further details. I.e. Why is it not valid?
